Greece is a Schengen State and has some specific visa guidelines. Kindly go through the following note:
Schengen Territory: The citizens of India can get short stay visa for a period that ranges from one to ninety days, which will be valid for all countries of the Schengen Territory i.e. Austria, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Denmark, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Iceland, Latvia, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland. The Schengen Convention is an innovative initiative taken for freedom of circulation of people. According to the same, foreigners having a valid stay permit delivered by one of the Schengen states can leave and later re-enter the Schengen Territory without taking visa again, but with a condition that they have a valid passport along with relevant travel document and a multiple entry visa. However, application for visas have to be submitted with the relevant Consular authorities, which are to be determined according to the following criteria
1. If the applicant intends to stay in one country only, the application should be submitted at the Representation of the same country.
2. If the applicant intends to travel to more than a few member States, the application should be submitted at the Representation of the country where the main point of travel lies mentioning the duration of stay.
3. If the main destination cannot be determined, the competent Consular office for processing the application will be one of the countries of the first port of entry into the Schengen Territory.
4. The long term visas are still subject to the Law of the country of destination. They must be applied for at the Consular Authorities of the concerned member of the states.
The Embassy of Greece has started Skype services to conduct Interviews for Applicants submitting their Application at satellite Centre's through VFS in: Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai, so that the applicant does not have to come to New Delhi. Applicants must note that Applicant has to visit the relevant Application Centre for the Interview which will be conducted by Embassy of Greece.
Work Permit (D-Type)
- The Visa Application Form should be filled in completely and signed by the applicant.
- One latest passport size colored photograph (35 x40 mm) with white background, 70-80% face coverage should be included in the application. The photograph should be taken with a digital camera and printed on a high photo-quality paper. The medical certificate should not be older than six months.
- Police clearance certificate, attested by the ministry of external affairs, Consular division, Patiala house, New Delhi with an Apostile Sticker should also be submitted along with application.
Applicant would be asked for additional documents or might be called for a personal Interview if desired by The Embassy of Greece. According to Schengen regulations, the visa fee is non-refundable. All original documents submitted must be accompanied along with a copy of those.

- Divorce Judgment & Decree from former Spouse, if applicable.
- Photocopy of Passport (recent & cancelled) of all the pages of the Sponsor.
- Bank Statement of the Sponsor from Greece for the last three (03) months.
- Income Tax Returns statements of the Sponsor from Greece for the last three (03) years and duly authorized by Greek Public Financial Service called DOY.
- Rent Agreement or Proof of Residence duly authorized by Greek Public Financial Service called DOY.
- Original certificate from the Social Security (called IKA) of the inviter mentioning that his family medical expenses will be covered.
- Employment contract letter of the sponsor or any other proof of Employment should be attached with application.
- Family Status Certificate giving the name of spouse and children. The Family Status Certificate should state that the inviter is still married to the applicant and that their children are the following. The certificate can either be issued from India or Indian Embassy in Athens. If the certificate is issued from India than it should be duly authorized by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi with an Apostile sticker. It should be noted that the certificate should not be older than six (06) months.
In case of Minor:
- Birth Certificate (with English Translation) duly attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi with an Apostile Sticker.

Airport Transit Visa (A)

The Visa Application Form should be filled in completely and signed by the applicant.
- One latest passport size colored photograph (35 x40 mm) with white background, 70-80% face coverage should be included in the application. The photograph should be taken with a digital camera and printed on a high photo-quality paper. The photograph shouldn't be over 6 months older.
- The Passport should be valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of the Member States or, in case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States. Passports valid for over 10 years won't be accepted as the valid travel document. In addition, the passport should have two blank pages opposite to each other.
- Copy of Schengen Visas, USA & UK Visas.
- Copy of Valid Visa for the third country of destination.
- Confirmed Air Ticket of onward journey.
- Application should be attached with original letter from the company specifying reason for stay in Greece, salary and his / her employment status.
- Overseas medical insurance will also be required which will be valid for all Schengen-countries with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euro. The insurance must cover all risk like, illness, accident etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and should cover the date of arrival and departure and submitted in original. Applicant also needs to sign the Health Policy declaration which can be downloaded from the website.
