Jokhang

It is the most sacred site in Tibetan Buddhism which attracts many pilgrims every year. This temple was constructed in 7th century by King Songtsan Gampo. The Mongols tried to sack the temple many a times but the building survived and the main temple covers about 25000 sq meters of area.
