Save your money & time

I'm feeling scammed, got a york pass, but paid more for less. If you take into consideration most places opening 10 until 4 pm, you have a really tight window. About 30 mins que 1 hrs to get around not including travelling. We paid £60 EACH for 7 people, NOT CHEAP, only enough time to see 2 attractions. I recommend saving your money and taking your time, at least paying for it as you go You might have the time to enjoy it.

York is amazing

Worth every penny. Managed to fit in around 10 venues on Sunday. Even the rain couldn’t put us off. Enjoyed it so much will go again.

What excellent value this is! A bonus!

York City Pass - 2 days: What excellent value this is, especially if time is limited, saves queuing. You can book times for specific venues or just turn up at others which surprised us, a great money saver. The Hop on- Hop off bus (Golden Tours is included in the pass) full of information and the ‘open top’ is great fun, drivers really know their stuff about everything ‘York’and the views are great. So many venues and activities to choose from, something for everyone. Would highly recommend!

Safe money

Brilliant pass saved money and did not have to wait to get in to some of the attractions just make sure you go to the York Centre to get your pass to your mobile or to have them printed out

Great value

The selection of attractions was great ended up going to a couple of attractions I wouldn't have considered if they weren't on the pass. Make sure to check the attractions list before you go as some of these need to be booked in advance on the attractions websites directly. Overall I found it great value for money with what was included.

Great value way to enjoy the City of York

A great opportunity to see all the delights that York has to offer. A beautiful city filled with history. York Pass is a fantastic way to see the culture & history of York without breaking the bank . So much to see by purchasing a York City Pass

Made the most of my trip despite a few hiccups!

On paper this seems like a great deal, but once in York many of the attractions were not allowing me to use them with my York Pass!! Pre-Booking is essential to avoid disappointment!!! Check ALL attractions to see if you need to pre-book! Even though I did this, I was still not allowed into DIG (website did not state pre-booking was required) River cruise was not running due to flooding, Jorvik centre was not allowing York passes (pre-PAID bookings only) due to ride being broken!!! Website is very out of date / not updated with current situation. If I had my time again, I would not buy the 2 day pass I would pay as I go and pre-book the attractions I wanted!!! Viator booking experience however was great!!!

Great value

These are fantastic value for money, considering the cost of each individual attraction. This kept the family busy for 2 days

Good bus ride but valid for only 24 hours despite the number of venue days

The provided a nice overview of the city, but was only available to us for 24 hours with a two day pass. We visited as many attractions as we could in two days, maybe five in all, but I think it would have less expensive to pay admission at each one of the attractions we visited on our own.

Good experience

It got easier once we got our tickets, from the ticket office. I thought they would send a QR code out through email, and so we do not need to go round finding the office. I did get confused on which buses to take I thought the avian busses was free too. But, overall it was good experience. I love york. Wish I knew that some places was shut on Monday and Tuesday. Thinking it would be open all for the summer holidays.

Great value when you’ve done your homework

Great value for money, the Dungeons alone were worth the price if the York Pass. We took the 3 day pass and have had 3 very busy but full days of learning all about York and its history, well recommended l. Make sure you do your homework before to plan your days and make your reservations and you’ll get the most of of this pass

Well worth it

Great way to see all the sites, plus you skip the queue as you have already paid Except for the Viking Centre as they have timed bookings Hop on Hop off bus is a great way to get around, and very good at the end of the day for tired feet.

The York City Pass Saved lots of queuing as we went straight through and we saved money overall with the 2 day pass. Very happy.

Value for money

Definitely worth buying as it saves quite a big amount of money. Almost every attraction costs from 7 to 15 pounds, if to visit them separately i would spend a fortune. So the City pass is really a saver. The only thing is that the City pass needs activation in the Visit York centre, which was not clearly stated in the instructions, so when i came to one of the attractions they said that i need to go back and activate it, which was a bit of running around. So plan your time to pop up to visitor centre first to activate the pass and after that you can just enjoy all the attractions. York is a great city!

Hit and miss for young families

Hit and miss for young families. We had a 10% discount code and managed to save about £6 overall so not sure it was worth it really. The problem is it's really difficult to get around a lot of attractions in one day when you have young children. Without kids we probably would have seen a lot more and it would definitely have been worth it, but if you have young children I would probably give it a miss and give yourself more time to enjoy the sites. Only a few things need pre-booking with the pass, but would recommend doing so anyway since there can be long queues.

We purchased a 2 day York...

We purchased a 2 day York pass - the first day was really good and we visited various sites in the city and had a great day. The 2nd day we had planned to visit the Birds of Prey however, when we arrived we were told that our pass was not valid for that particular day and we would have to pay the entrance fee. It was suggested to us that we come back another day!! The pass was valid for 2 days only and we were leaving York the next day so obviously we could not come back "another day". This was really disappointing as had we known we would have used the pass in town for one of the other attractions.

Wow! I bought a 2 day City Pass to visit York for four adults I booked some of the attractions and others just fitted into the two days as I didn’t want it to be route march I would have spent over £450 but our pass cost £280 The best buy and the best time

Poor service

Was given a voucher to pick up Pass. Tour operator never responded to inquiries of where to get Pass. Day of Pass was a holiday so Pass Visitor Center was not opened with no expectation of when they were opening. Spent two hours with Viator chat support with no resolution. Eventually was able to get pass by midday when I saw Visitor Center for Pass had opened but half the day wasted. Recommend not buying Pass through Viator because they can't guarantee delivery. Buy Pass directly from Visitor Center.

Good value for money, but would be better to have instructions on how to use at each venue.

Bought the York City Pass for the day. Easy to order and I was able to download the passport for the iPhone. Also need to have the PDF (or print out) of the tickets themselves as it has the number codes that some of the places ask for. It would be helpful, as another reviewer said, if it explained how to use the pass at each venue with links to the websites/ further information. Some venues allowed you to book your time slot online with the website as it had the option to pay with the pass, whereas some you had to go to the venue itself to book/ or to use. Still good value for money if you plan in advance.

Lovely city to visit. Highly recommend a vsit

Lovely city., very clean. Plenty to see, and do. You must visit Castle Howard, and I recommend the River Cruise. Also the Children would love the Railway Museum, and it is free. You cannot visit York without going to see the Shambles, and a lovely tea at Betty's tea room.

City pass app

I bought the city pass them tried to book venues but they then tried to charge me so I think ther should be a link where you can book your attractions on the app of the city pass

The pass is a great idea and saves money. Don’t book with trip advisor they don’t reply when you cant activate the pass

Pass is a good way to save money but don’t buy through trip advisor, I couldn’t activate the pass for 2 days into my trip as they they didn’t respond to messages I sent so eventually the tour operator took over and sorted it out. Lost out on two days of my holiday plans.

Needs abit more attention to detail?

I may have missed the part where it says most attractions need to be pre booked? Could have be better if you had a map of where everything is and links to pre book everything that needed pre booking.

Fabulous

Yorvik centre is a must. We also visited the York minster, The Roman Bath House, York Dungeons, The Hilt (Axe Throwing) , Clifford’s Tower, York Museum and used the Hop on Hop off bus. Absolutely fantastic value for money if you plan on covering a lot of the attractions

The dungeons are a must great fun and actors really make it a great experience! Also the ghost bus with the conductor Phil graves is also well worth it!

Amazing York

The history of York on the bus was fascinating The Jorvik is an amazing experience, it takes you back so far in history . The dungeons we lived . The minister is beautiful restful and a building that takes my breath away . The boat trip was good and van gough was so relaxing and we learned so much about him .

Definitely book the attractions as the pass doesn’t guarantee entry and it can be very busy at some of the events.

I used the York Pass a d probably saved about £20 with the amount I did with the Pass, including stuff I havdnt even.planned to do like the Cocoa House and boat tour.

Nice tour bus route, with plenty of historical information, be sure to book experiences/attractions in advance to avoid time wasting queues.

York City Pass is definitely recommended especially if you are a museum geek, history enthusiast or both!

Good value for money

Pass was a bargain even though some of the prices appeared to be inflated for the attractions. If you want for businesses in York to succeed and for tourists to come here don't outpace attractions. Do not advertise the hilt as an attraction if they are booked weeks in advance so you can't even precooked.

Excellent money saver and easy to use

We got the two day pass and we squeezed in so much. We visited loads of attractions and enjoyed every one of them. We visited places we probably wouldn't have paid full price for but thought we may as well go as it was paid for so this meant we looked at the fun stuff, skipped past the boring bits and didn't feel guilty about it!! The final bus route starts at about 4pm so careful not to expect one later. We tried to book ahead on most attractions but you don't really need to, and it can be done the same day if you want to be sure to get in. Our highlights were York Dungeon, Boat tour and Castle museum. We saved around £65 each over 2 days and had the best time.

amazing experience we...

amazing experience we precooked everything managed to see Yorkminster , Barley hall, visit some amazing shops on the way to viking museum and Van Goth experience then went to dungeons . Also had a ride in the city bus and walked York wall . Most the attractions are close proximity to each other very convenient.

Perfect Pass

We loved lunch at Ask Italia the bus & Viking centre & cocoa tour. We managed 13 sights over 2 days. Such good value!!!

Makes the visit so easy!

Wonderful resource, I would recommend going with the two or three day option to get the most out of the pass. We had to reschedule a few outings and were able to do so without issue.

One day York pass

Convenient way to discover York. Everything is within walking distance. Enjoyed the various attractions especially York Minster. Pre-booking helps us save time.

Waste of money.

Terrible. The pass only lasted half a day, we had 4 attractions booked the next day which where rejected because it had expired that day. We tried to call but could only reach voicemail which didn't help as we didn't receive a reply that day, so was a complete waste of 55 quid.

Decide to have a last minute breakaway and the pass covered all the main Must see things to do AND Included using either or Both bus tours Red and Blue

What a great idea!

We recently travelled to York for a few days away and bought a 2 day pass. When your buy the pass you select the month you want to use it and it only becomes valid when it is first used. My advice would be to look at what you want to do, make notes on availability and then book depending on what you can fit in when. We managed most of the more expensive attractions apart from the river cruise which was cancelled due to high winds and water levels. Saved us quite a bit of money for a family of 3, plus we managed a few extra places that we hadn't booked. Definitely worth the price.

Good use of pass

Made good use of York pass considering some attractions closed. Recommend research what's open at this time of year as disappointing how many attractions are closed, You also need to book direct with some venues. Managed to visit Yorvik centre, the York dungeon, Fairfax house, Merchant hall, Cocoa works, York Minster, Van Gogh immersive experience, Hop on hop off bus (hardly used) finished off by lovely pizza in Ask Italia (in a fab room) Over £200.00 entrance fees/meal overall Cost of passes £117.00 Best experience the Van Gogh. the Dungeons and Yorvik centre. Unable to go on river trip due to bad weather and high tide. Went to Army museum on our 2nd day only to read note on door that it was closed for filming.

Brilliant idea!

We saved around £120 on these tickets, so handy! They’re really useful for finding out what there is to do in and around York too!

You need to research what is open and available.

A lot of attractions are currently under renovation or are closed on Monday and Tuesday, which was not pointed out in the description of the pass. Also some attractions closed early, or opened late, limiting their availability. Also, due to COVID, most require reservations which are not difficult to get, but it was not obvious which attractions required them, based upon the York Pass website. We missed several attractions because we scheduled things in the wrong order, but there was no way of determining which order was optimal.

Not worth the money.

Unfortunately due to all the pre booking we only got to visit 3 out of 20. So turned out to be an expensive experience I won't use again.
