Peaceful Snowshoe to Majestic Cedars

After a fun snowcat ride up the mountain, we took a peaceful hike in to see the majestic ancient cedars. Our friendly and knowledgeable guides surprised us with a fresh cookie and hot chocolate and a quick detour for a view into the valley. Phones were only out for pictures - a brilliant escape from the bustle.

Great experience at the Ancient Cedars snowshoe tour

This tour was great in its entirety. The guide Nick was very nice and friendly. He had the great idea of taking extra hardwarmers for us, which was greatly needed. He explained to us the history of the forest, as well as the ecosystem's life cycle. Going all the way up the mountain, the panoramas along the trail are wonderul, and we had the opportunity to take pictures whenever we wanted.

Snow shoeing in stunning mixed forest scenery with well informed guides. Definitely recommended.

This was a fantastic activity! Our guides Mia and Michelle were wonderful, from driving through all the fresh powder in the Rangers, to showing us how to fit and manage the snow shoes with added quick tips along the way, but most of all for sharing their knowledge of the forest. For me perhaps the best part was seeing the bear scratches on the cedars where they had climbed the trees, or was it the discussions about the value and preservation of our world’s great forests, or was it just the sheer joy of being quietly out walking in this remote winter wonderland. The actual snow shoeing quickly became second nature and was a wonderful way of engaging with nature. Thanks Mia and Michelle and also Jamie for fetching and dropping us in Whistler and introducing us to the wonderful Frankie dog!

The snowshoe tour was fantastic and our guide Mia was very knowledgeable and a superb guide. It was a great experience and I would recommend to anyone.

Wonderful Trek Though the Ancient Cedars

I arrived at the base camp where the guide helped fit us and gave some preliminary information before we drove up to the trail. There we spent the next hour and a half or so snowshoeing through the ancient cedars learning about their history and their relations to the First Nations.

Snowshoe through the cedar forest!

Wonderful snowshoe tour through the cedar forest! Online reservations were easy, and the staff was helpful when I needed to change the date of my tour. I had the shuttle bus pick me up at the main bus area in Whistler, and it was a short ride to The Adventure Group's location. Our guide met us and outfitted us with snowshoes. I didn't have winter boots, but they had plenty available to borrow. There was another couple, the guide, and me on this small tour. We rode in an ATV with snow tracks for about 20 minutes up to the Ancient Cedars trailhead. We were blessed with a beautiful day - blue skies, moderate temperatures. We hiked for a little more than an hour. There was one stop at a scenic vista across a valley looking at the snow-capped peaks. Otherwise you hiked through a cedar forest. Some of the trees are huge! I'd say it would take 8 people to wrap their arms around the largest one. Our guide was great at pointing out items of interest. There is a moderate elevation change along the trail, but the pace is slow and steady. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in taking a day off from the slopes and looking for a quiet, relaxing activity.

Snowshoes and Cider!

My husband and I had an amazing time with Fran!!! She was so pleasant and knowledgeable about the forest and local wildlife. We walked through the beautiful terrain for about an hour or so. Fran even took our picture at some scenic spots and gave us a little hot apple cider! The entire booking experience was very easy. They provided transportation to and from Whistler to the base camp (Michael was awesome as well). We took an open 4x4 ATV up the mountain. We were fitted with helmets, goggles and snowshoes for the experience. Overall it was an awesome way to see the mountains and the forest in all their glory if you are not an experienced skier.

Winter Wonderland!

We had a beautiful powder day. The scenery was breathless. Kesley who guided us knew so much about nature and taught us about the animals and the trees. We had a great time.

Ancient Cedars Tour is a Must

This was one of the best things we did in Whistler! We wanted to take a break from skiing and booked the Ancient Cedars tour. We were so glad we did! Our guide Brett was INCREDIBLE! We were so shocked how amazing the the tour was - we expected to just leave from the home site and just trek along a flat surface. Boy we’re we wrong and we were happy we were! We took a short drive in a ranger to seemingly the middle of the forest then began our trek. Brett knew all the great photo stops and is a great photographer, too! What a hike! The trees are beautiful and Brett knew so much about the nature along the way! Book this immediately!

Amazing snowshoe tour in several feet of deep powder. Our guide Brett was great. Very knowledgeable and shared a lot about the forest. Would definitely recommend!

An immersive winter wonderland experience

We had a wonderful experience snowshoeing as a family of four - 2 adult children. Pablo was a very informative and helpful guide through the ancient cedar trail on a magical and majestic walk where the only sound was that of our snow shoes trudging through and a lonely woodpecker! Would highly recommend this tour as an immersive experience in a winter wonderland!

Gorgeous Experience

We have a great experience walking thru the forest at 1200 meters. Incredible. Brett and Cathline drove us in a marvelous trip. All set on time and with care. Brett also gave us a lot of information about the fascinating trees and the secrets of the mountain. Gorgeous view and delicious hot apple cider at the top.

Can’t go snowshoeing again because it’ll never be as good as this time!

My gf and I booked the snowshoeing since everything else was booked up and we were a little on the fence about doing it but OMG did we have an amazing and beautiful experience. We ended up getting pretty lucky and it was just the 2 of us and our tour guide Pablo. We had a blast and learned lots and the both of us now have a much deeper appreciation for the forests and nature itself! It honestly couldn’t have gone any better and I’m not sure it’ll ever be as good as those 2 hours were. Our tour guide Pablo made the whole experience for us, we learned lots from him and I feel like I can’t say enough good about him!

Awesome hike through the woods

I took my 13 year old on the snow shoe tour and we had a great time! It actually snowed (in late March) which was a treat and it was great to get out into the mountains and away from the crowd. Riding the Ranger was a lot of fun and the hike was awesome. Our guide Zoe did a great job leading our group and taught us lots of interesting things about the forest. In general, The Adventure Group has a really cool facility. We also did the zip lines on the same day.

3 Generations Snowshoeing!

Fun morning snowshoeing on Cougar Mountain this week. My dad, 81 years old, my son, 11 years old, & me had a great time. Guides were informative, helpful, & fun. For the last number of years, we have done a TAG adventure. Always fun! Great value! Well worth it

Do it!!!

The most beautiful experience ever. Would recommend this to anyone coming to Whistler who doesn’t ski or snowboard but wants to experience the mountains to the fullest. Our guide was lovely and it was one of my favourite vacation experiences ever.

amazing backcountry snowshoe experience

I signed-up for a family snowshoe tour with my mom and six-year-old daughter. We were pleased that this turned out to be a private tour. We took an ATV from Cougar Mountain base camp to Rainbow Mountain and did the Kaolis trail. It was very beautiful and there was a lot of fresh snow as we were only the second group on that trail that day. Seeing as it was our first time snowshoeing, our guide Oliver gave us lots of helpful tips on how to snowshoe properly. He was very very patient with my six-year-old daughter and even pulled her along using his poles. We had a great snowshoe experience and can't wait to book a snowmobiling tour the next time that we are in Whistler!

Amazing snowshoeing!

Staff was friendly and professional. Our guide was Dan from the U.K. who wasn’t afraid to take us after a day of two snow warnings. The experience was unforgettable and amazing. This is the second time I’ve used TAG and highly recommend them!

Great introduction to snow shoe experience

The ancient cedars walk was very peaceful and informative. My wife and I had a terrific time with our guide walking through he snow covered trail and stopping for informative tips and information about the area. It was topped off with a small hot chocolate and cookies while not the trail

Truly magical

This was a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours in fresh snow making our own tracks and checking out how magical it was under the spruce trees. It was just long enough as it is still tough going lifting snow shoes as you go. The peak to peak gondola is also a must in Whistler if you are not skiing.

Snowshoeing!

Very disappointing, less than an hour walk on a snow packed trail with a hungover guide who threw up in front of us. A waste of time and money.

Our first snow shoe adventure was epic

We absolutely loved this! Firstly have to mention our guide Ben who was brilliant, chatty and knowledgable and made the whole time a mini adventure. Secondly stunning views and peaceful, just beautiful. Would highly recommend!!

Great Alternative to Skiing!

Absolutely worth it! Didn't want to ski but wanted to see views and do wintery activities, and this was a great way to do it!! Recommend adding the Peak to Peak for an unbelievable view of the mountain from the top!

So Much Fun!

Me, my wife and our 3 kids did the snowshoe tour. We live in Texas so don't get to see much snow. We had so much fun! It was more cardio than expected but the views from the top of the mountain were spectacular and I had a great time throwing snowballs at the kids.

Amazing Experience

My family and I loved the experience. We’ve been skiing for many years and definitely this is an activity that we plan to include from now in in our yearly ski trip. Our guide was great!

Highly recommend!!

I visited Whistler with a friend who had never been skiing. We were super nervous that 4 days on the slopes would be too much for her first time, so went out on a limb and tried snow shoeing with The Adventure Group. They were AWESOME! It was a super unintimidating way to see the mountain. The guides were really knowledgeable with animal facts, snow facts and stopping at the best places for a great view. Plus we got to try out the snow slippery dip - heaps of fun.

Best day out

Did snowshoeing zip line and snow mobile. Provided all the gear and excellent guides. Fantastic particularly for first timers. Remember to bring top money 😀

Snowshoe tours with The Adventure Group are just magical!

I left Whistler this morning following a fabulous one week stay. As always, when I return to Whistler annually in the winter, I book my snowshoe tours with The Adventure Group. They never disappoint! The snowshoeing is just amazing and all guides and staff members are just fantastic! I highly recommend The Adventure Group and look forward to my next winter trip to Whistler and my snowshoeing with The Adventure Group!

A great walk in a winter wonderland

Our excellent guide Sam was great. Great fun and cool tales about the trees. Lots of fun and really worth the walk. Make sure you dress warmly as out of the sun it can be quite cool.

Fantastic Snowshoe Hike with Knowledgeable and Experienced Guide!

Allie was our guide and it was amazing. A great work out in one of the most beautiful environments on Earth. We did the Mystic tour without the Peak to Peak Gondola ride. The trails were pristine, the ride up the hill was breathtaking and Allie told great stories about the environment as we hiked through it. They also use top quality gear, and that makes a big difference. We are thinking about a snowmobile adventure with TAG later this week!

Trail through the trees

A great way to enjoy the mountain and appreciate nature. Tour guide Lisa was very informative and friendly and the trail gives you a refreshing perspective - we enjoyed every minute.

Peaceful Mountain Trek

Our Snowshoe Tour was one of the most beautiful, scenic and peaceful adventures we have ever done. After a few days of skiing, this was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Lisa was so helpful and insightful. She got us geared and on the Mountain in no time, and she made the tour loads of fun! We highly recommend this tour to everyone visiting Whistler, and we can't wait to do it again!

Wonderful walk in the snow

The Nature Mystic hike was about a 1 mile through the magnificent snow trail just outside the Blackcomb lift. It had been snowing for days and the surrounding path bank was knee high. The guide Natasha was super friendly and thoughtful. It was a very pleasant activity that lasted about 2 hours. Highly recommend this experience and all Adventure Group activities. Was disappointed that because of windy conditions the Peak 2 Peak was closed, but they reimbursed that portion without a problem.

Winter wonderland

Had a great time tracking around in the snow for a couple of hours. Would recommend to anyone who would like to be able to ski the mountain but can't or won't as it is a similar experience in places. Guide was very pleasant however perhaps a group of 10 is a little large as this produced a variety of age and fitness levels making it hard for the guide to keep the group together. Finally it is a great workout !! Andrew Gough
