Wiener Riesenrad - Giant Ferris Wheel Vienna Entrance Ticket

Historical. Night wasn't that special.

We went at night. I think the day would have been better. It is interesting due to the history. The trip is about 15 minutes.

difficulty in admission

Although we booked the tickets for the Wheel via Trip Advisor, they could not pass from the tickets office. Fortunately, the man at the office let us pass checking the barcode we had. Make sure you know which tickets pass in each place. There was a list of companies that were providing tickets for the Wheel, yet trip advisor was not one of them.

Awful customer service experience

Absolutely awful experience. Signs everywhere urging people to buy online and skip the queue. Paid for 2 tickets which were not received in my email. I then quequed and was told by a staff member that it can take 24 hours for the tix to be sent. What is the point of that? Staff were completely useless and unhelpful and would not give me replacement tix. Avoid.

Was amazing 🤩

the reader does not recognize the codes from this application. We had to wait with all the people, without tickets, for an employee to give us paper tickets. No point in taking it online!

Vienna Ferris Wheel

It was not what I expected. The ride was nice but wasn’t did not meet my expectations as it was short and the views weren’t very good.

Superb

Excellent. Experience was second to none brilliant. Well organised and it ran very smoothly. The photos taken were well received and all the staff were extremely helpful.

Actually nice experience, especially if your a third man fan, well organised nice photo, interesting entrance. Lower rating due to price

Weather caused Platform 9 cancellation

I was very much looking forward to this Platform 9 ride during my 1-trip month to Europe. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, with very high winds and ominous clouds. So the operators cancelled it with a few hours notice on the same day. I get it, you cannot control nature. A nice, classic, historic Ferris wheel to admire, nonetheless - known for movies such as The Third Man and The Living Daylights. My suggestion to the operators is to run Platform 9 on weekdays as well, particularly in July & August. I was in town from late Sunday to Friday morning, thus for those like me there was only one-day chance for this experience.

Not sure it’s worth it

Honesty it was ok. The wait was long (30+mins) and the room your standing in doesn’t have A/C or any air movement at all! And then theirs nowhere to sit. I was expecting to be able to see a bit more of the landmarks at night with a pretty glow. But nope so if your going to do this I’d say it be more fun in the day when you can really see everything.

One of the top attractions in Vienna!

We absolutely loved our experience on the Riesenrad. It is the oldest Ferris Wheel in the world and one of the top attractions in Vienna. You have spectacular views of Vienna and it is possible to arrange a special celebration (breakfast/ lunch/ cocktails/ sparkling wine) with family or friends. Recommend you go early in the day, then there is no queue. So much fun!

AmazIng views, must visit!

Whilst on our family holiday to Vienna we decided to visit the Prater amusement b park and the Riesenrad is the amusement to ride. I was expecting big queue’s and high prices but all very reasonable and efficient and the views and ride itself are spectacular. Would highly recommend.

Very disappointed

The ticket did not work; no one would help us; they were very rude/abrupt. When we ask for help, we were told to go to the back of the line, which was very long.

Horrible experience

First I had to wait on a line for a ticket, then when I got to the counter the ticket agent had no idea what he was looking at. He stated he’s never seen this before and that I had to buy new tickets to this. My daughter wanted to go on so I did.

Platform 9--JDI!

Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to ride on Platform 9. It's not a regular car on the Giant Wheel...it's a plexiglass platform and the riders (up to 4) are attached by straps to a steel rod above so you can't fall. The views are spectacular! And truly the wheel runs so smoothly there's no jerking movement to make you nervous. Yes, it's extra money but live a little. At first I thought, "what am I doing?" but then about a quarter of the way around my nerves went away and I was able to really enjoy being open air on the Riesenrad.

A pleasant ride with good views

By no means a ‘must do’ in Vienna, but for around €13 it’s a nice way to spend 10-15 minutes. If you expecting a high octane thrill then stick to the theme park below, but this gentle ride is a nice novelty and offers pleasant aerial views over Vienna. The ride takes place in a vintage style capsule, shared with other people - there were 6 people in ours but I would imagine it holds double that during busy periods.

I loved this

I first went on this ferris wheel when I was 12, loved it and always wanted to go back. I did go back 35 years later and enjoyed it just as much the 2nd time round. The views over the city are lovely and there are signs in each can so you can see what you’re looking at. I will go on again, next time I’m in Vienna…. hopefully not in another 35 years.

Total waste

First the ticket seller was grumpy. Then the ride was a disappointment. It only progressed a few seconds and loaded a car. The slowly continue to fill the cars and then empty. No actual riding. Sad excuse and such a scam. $13.50 gone wasted

A nice ride with a beautiful view!

We went on this old style Ferris wheel and really enjoyed it. It’s a slow and relaxing ride with some great views. Afterwards we walked around the Prater and sat and had a beer. What a pleasant day!

Classic ride

Calm and quiet ride with a slow but steady changing view over Vienna. You can either stand up or sit down as you go round depending on how you feel. I did both as my fear of heights decreased and it was worth it as there was very little rocking of the car in the wind. Booked as a combi ticket with airport transfers and unlimited public transport which made it easier. They will take you picture but you are under no obligation to buy them. The little museum using the old cars as diorama cases was interesting.

Nice View

A nice 360 view. It helped us orient ourselves. Many of the major sites you may visit are fairly far away from this viewpoint but glad we did it.

Nice vintage wheel, lacking a slight view!

It is a great ferris wheel and a must do as it is a landmark of the city. It’s also been used in many films including James Bond. The view isn’t that impressive to be fair but it’s nice being in such a traditional ferris wheel. If you are a couple you will be with others as it fits around 12 people but you will be walking around looking at views from all angles. But when in Vienna…

Great view

I'm not sure what I was expecting and yes it's a great view but it's one very slow ride, it stops at every car to let people on and you only go round once and that's it, over before you know it.

Great

A world-class city; fabulous food/shopping/sites. Don’t miss the Sacher hotel (home of the torte), at least one of the plethora of coffee houses, the Spanish Riding School, and some chamber music. The Ferris wheel has some history to it, situated in the middle of a modern amusement park which can be extremely crowded.

A wheely good ride

We went up during a blizzard but it one of the iconic things to do the third man was filmed here a nice ride and a link with past

Iconic historical landmark and grand views

We make it an annual tradition over Christmas to take a ride on this famous historical landmark and it's always great fun. The ride lasts around 20mins and is worth the entry fee. The views are great although it's a distance from most other major landmarks so you'll need a good camera to take decent photos. The queue in summer months can be quite long but just plan for that - it's still worth the wait. In the off season in December there's hardly a line at all so straight on board. The fairground surrounding Reisenrad is totally kitch but nostalgic, and the kids will absolutely love it!

A view from the top

A classic film location, a great Ferris wheel, a taste of classic Vienna… What more do you need for such a competitive price. With a little museum at the beginning and a 20 minute ride time it’s definitely worth a detour from the centre of town.

Absolute rubbish

Absolute rubbish. Ticket would not work. Queue to ticket window was over an hour long. Left it. No ride and out of pocket. Not even a reply to my email complaint. Complete crap

Lovely views

Skip-the-line didn't work, lady in ticket ofice was a little dumbfounded by what to do with Viator ticket. Ride itself was good, we were lucky to have a lovely clear day.

Vienna from above

Vienna was not my favorite place but it is good to try the Ferris wheel form where you can see the city.

Disappointed

Was not at all what I was expecting, very disappointed . Had to queue any way . I would not bother going to this

Ticket Scan Issue

Other than buying the ticket in advance, we still had to stand in a line to get an actual paper ticket. The scanner did not recognize your barcode.

The Fourth Man

A must-do experience in Vienna, and pretty much lived up to the hype. Great views and slow enough so you have time to take it in.

Didn’t “Skip the line” at all!

I’ve booked these tickets for my wife and I. Our experience was a very disappointing one as we were not able to skip the line at all. I tried to scan the code barcode on the ticket on the reader at the turnstile and it wouldn’t let me in. When I enquired at the ticket office they said I needed to join the queue so they could give me a different ticket with a QR code on it!

A tourist must-do

Great views of the city (and of the dots on the ground lol.) Wasn't busy so there was no need to buy tickets in advance. Photos taken before you board, so you can choose if you wish to purchase them (photo, fridge magnet, download etc) and they will be ready for you when you leave, about 15 minutes later. We bought 1 photo of 4 that were taken - a fun reminder.

Nice piece of history but maybe not worth the wait.

It was nice to see the views from the top, but things went VERY slowly - not only the line to get on the Ferris wheel but the wheel itself. Glad we did it but not sure it was worth the wait or the money

Worth visiting the wheel

Wheel is iconic and a must do in Vienna. Skip the line is inaccurate as you have to join the line to exchange vouchers for tickets.

Nice Viennese landmark

If you’re with kids, opt for the combo discounted package of the Ferris wheel +Madame Tussauds/prater mini train. The small museum at the entrance is educational for kids who can learn about the history of Vienna and Prater in a fun, albeit rather outdated way. If you can, opt for a clear day/sunset a the view is great.

Vienna ferris wheel.

The Vienna ferris wheel is a fantastic experience,and I would recommend a ride on it to anyone.It is amazing that it has withstood the test of time.

Nice ride - nerve racking!

No need to skip the queue because there isn’t one To be honest it was like a ghost town and we were literally the only people on the wheel I think there is maintainable going on as over half the huts on the wheel were missing Quite a pleasant ride although a little scary as it creaked a lot Great views from the top and worth a visit The rest of the fairground was pretty much closed

Cool place only for the movie scenes

The ferris wheel was one of the oldest in operation and the tallest for a while as well. The ticket price is too high which is a turn off for what it is. There is a lot of history behind it due to the many filming locations that took place on the wheel. The views of the surrounding area are nice from the top and it’s covered so you can go any time of year.

Okay but wouldn’t recommend

Bit out of the way and there is so much steel and carriage around you you don’t get too much of a view. The downloaded ticket did NOT let you skip any lines either.

Fabulous Vienna views.

A lovely experience if only too quickly over. Despite covid, the staff were polite and inviting and on top of cleanliness, cleaning the cars between visitor. Would love to do it again one day. Highly recommended.

I issued tickets for 28/07... Giant wheel was closed in that day... Can't reach the customer service in order to get my money back...

Wheel meet again

For us it was a must. Thankfully when we arrived there wasn’t a queue. It was a clear day and we had great views. Hopefully wheel meet again... as we’d love to visit Christmas Market time.

I guess you have to

One lap for 12 euros is expensive and there isn’t much to see when you are up there. However it’s a shame to come this far and not have a go I guess.

Beautiful Views

Quick and friendly staff. The ride goes slowly so you have several opportunities to get some great shots of Vienna with your camera. Not to crowded and everyone shared the space so you could get different views for pictures. Cab was very clean.
