Great hop on hop off bus tour of Vienna. As we arrived late into the city, we were given a reduced rate. We completed the blue tour which gave us a thorough tour of the main sites of Vienna. The commentary was excellent.

Needs Improvement

The location of where to redeem your tickets is not clear and the kiosk where they redeem it took 20 minutes to process (while I apologized to others in line) bc their machine couldn’t read the bar code. Embarrassing for them and for my family. There shouldn’t even be a need for the ticket redemption process, just issue digital tickets!

Ignorant Drivers/Workers

The Yellow Line bus which left the Opera at 2:30 or 2:40 PM DID NOT STOP at the Hauptbanhof. The driver drove right past two buses that were already there and kept going. When I ran downstairs there were two workers besides the driver. I asked why they didn’t stop and he said “We didn’t know anyone wanted off.” I said “How could you know that unless you stop? We wanted off.” Then he said “Well, you can get off at the next stop and walk back.” which would have been over a mile. I finally had to make them open the doors at a stoplight, which he didn’t really want to do and we had to walk half a mile back to the Hauptbanhof. You should fire all three of those guys.

Worthwhile

This was a good investment. However….wifi on the bus was advertised and did not work. We were counting on this. Also, several of the headphone ports were not working either. Luckily the bus wasn’t full and we could switch seats until we found a working port. Overall, worthwhile in order to see the sights.

Hopeless - try a different operator if you want to actually see Vienna!

Terrible service ….. we naively bought a 48 hour pass thinking that this was a better set up / routes than other tours. We were very wrong sadly. - Buses in January are roughly every hour at stops so it really matters when you miss one. Our first attempt saw us at the right bus stop (marked and numbered) where we watched the bus drive straight past after waiting 10 mins past the due time. If you are expected to request this should be very clear. It’s not. - We then finally made it on a bus at Schloss Belvedere to be told by the bus driver we’d have to get off at the next stop (the Opera House appears to be a terminal). He said we’d need to get on the next bus - not that that bus was an hour wait! In the cold…. - Eventually got on a bus an hour later and had a successful round on the Red Line - Next day we walked to Praterstern Station and thought we’d pick up the Blue Line bus at the stop there. The description of the stop was hopelessly generic (by the UBahn Ausgang and Prater exit - at a big station with a number of places fitting that description). After 25 mins, missing yet another bus we rang the phone number and were (helpfully to be fair) directed to the right stop. Outside a very Googleable restaurant which could easily have been the description. - By this time we didn’t have the time to get round the loop and therefore gave up on our plans to see a few sights Overall a tourist service that hasn’t been designed with tourists in mind - at all.

Great way to explore.....

For ease of sightseeing around the city this couldn't be better. We completed the 3 tours over 2 days giving ample opportunity to visit places of interest . The commentary was excellent, the buses ran on time ,and the boarding staff most helpful.

This bus line was definitely much better with the narrative and bus cleaness. The wait was average and staff pleasant.

Vienna is special

The visit to the Danube Tower was a special moment. We wouldn’t have gone to it if it weren’t for the Big Bus

The tour did not have any illustrations of where we were or what we were seeing. The worst hop off and hop on ever.

Terrible experience.

None. Wasn’t able to find bus offices. And did not see any available buses to board. Lost a 2 day pass for 2 people. Costly loss!!!!!

Don’t bother with this company

We hopped on a blue bus at the Hilton hotel hoping to hop off at the shopping street but it changed at opera house to yellow line without telling us So we had to sit for an hour round trip that we had already been n the day before. Not the best. Use the other company

Winter and someone was smoking inside of a hop in and hop off bus in Viena

I just couldn’t believe the smoke of cigarette in the hop in and hop off . We were upstairs and we couldn’t breath . It’s December the 7 th 2023 and it was really dissatisfying the experience. I have asthma and felt horrível .

The most complex package of routes for visiting Vienna. To be explored even in the summer when there are other routes.

Totally Disappointed!

I've used Viator many times and had been very satisfied EXCEPT this time. I was so diasappointed with the HOHO bus driver in Vienna. First he could not speak English, 2nd he was on the phone all the time while driving talking to somebody. When I ask him where we are (because we don't know where we are - we're tourist!) he was very snobbish and did not want to be bothered while talking on his phone, so I waited until he was on a stop to ask. When we stopped, he was still very hostile, acting like he was pissed-off, never stopped talking on his cell, pointed to the brochure while talking in some foreign language to me (I don't think it was German). I tried to make sense on where we are reading the brochure map but could not figure it out. We waited until we got a stop where there are some stores and people and we got out. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED! Will never recommend these people. AVOID!

A very typical Hop on Hop...

A very typical Hop on Hop off experience. Hard to find the place to exchange voucher for tickets. A lot of options on the different routes. You could spend two whole days just riding around on the routes.

Not a very nice bus ride

Buses are very infrequent. Staff were rude. They had a verbal argument with each other. Would never use them again.

Don't waste your money

The tour was very expensive at 35 euros for the day and the main route circled the inner precinct which could have been easily walked. Limited commentary on the history of the city, mainly music. The timetable was completely wrong with the fifteen minutes between services stretching out to over thirty. The staff, once they'd sold you a ticket were apathetic or rude, giving incorrect information or more interested in their phones. As the bus to take us back to the railway station failed to turn up we were forced to pay out additional monies to catch the underground. A complete waste of money. Recommend a six euro public transport pass and a map.

Breathtaking!

The driver was a Superstar. Covered so much in those 2 hours. Amazing! Well worth it. Enjoyable ride throughout the city.

Appalling!

N on voucher and had to walk a very long way to retrieve them so booked them again from the hotel reception where they gave us. a voucher which we gave to the bus driver and he gave us our tickets - why oh why couldn’t Viator send us this voucher by e-Mail so we could have done the same - appalling service and will never use them again!

Quick way to see the city in an hour

Quick n easy way to see the city. The audio could be a bit more informative, lots of music in between the sight which I thot it will be nice to give a bit more info.

A scam !

My wife and I visited Vienna. We “Hopped” on this bus. The driver conducted a scam : Taking tourists , us who don’t know the place and trust him – Just putting us on the bus, Keeping us there under false pretense, Being super rude and offensive. Not letting us get on and off the bus which is kind of the point, denying us the product for which pay for. Not telling us that this is the last bus and that we will not have the opportunity later that day to use the service. And eventually taking money in cash with no tickets given (probably the company didn’t see any money, but I don’t know this for a fact). In conclusion : Shame on them! This was is 3th world level.perfect scam – Tourists that come for a day, don’t know any better and don’t have time to peruse the matter. Shame on them!

I wasn't able to get any good photos of the sights from the bus. However, I think the Hop On Hop option is a very practical and helpful option for traveling to and from the major sights of an unfamiliar city.

I knew better.......

I've been to Vienna probably 25-26 times over the last 35 years. I know the city like the back of my hand and always use public transportation. During my last stay in Vienna (September 13-20), I decided to try the Hop On/Hop Off bus so I cold properly leave this review. In a nut shell - It was AWFUL!!! The buses do NOT go through the city center where many sights are located: St. Stephan's Cathedral (including the catacombs), Kaisergruft, many historical statues, the Imperial Palace, Spanish Riding School, just to name a few..... The ride around the Ring was abysmal. It took nearly an hour to make about a 3-5 mile trek around the Ringstrasse. I don't remember the line color for the trip around the ring. We got on the Blue line next, which was supposed to go to the Danube. The round trip on this bus took over 2 hours. It was the same route as the first bus (around the ring) and included a ride to the Danube. This bus should have gone straight to eh Danube and taken no longer than 40 minutes. Every place in Vienna is easily accessible by the excellent public transportation system that include ubans, trams, and buses. Even the public transportation system has a few routes through the city center (bus numbers 1 and 2). Stay away from the Hop On/Hop Off buses and use public transportation. It will save you a LOT of money. A seven day public transportation ticket costs 17.10 Euros, compared to this which was about 35 Euros for 48 hours. ' NEVER AGAIN!

Not overly informative, give it a miss

Busses can’t get into prime tourist areas so it is a long drive down streeets and neighborhoods of limited interest. The audio is not fully in synch with the locations which is confusing. The descriptions are OK but most of the time you are just listening to music. The downtown tour passes all kinds of unique buildings and locations with no description. The place trip has better and more thorough explanations. Overall, not a valuable exercise and use of time unless you are physically unable to walk the downtown. Vienna is so walkable and a horse carriage ride would be a better use of your time as they go through the center where large busses can’t.

Easy to access and the place to redeem the ticket with very friendly staff. The languages and explanation of the different attractions very clear.

This is a total scam. The bundle the bus with the Vienna pass (Vienna, Austria), but the frequency of buses along the Ford lines is so awful. I was going to the Danube Tower on the outskirts of the city and had to catch their Blue Line. The buses are supposed to come every 15–20 minutes. I literally waited 60 minutes and called their customer service number four times during that time. Bus finally came after an hour. The experience sucked, waiting on a hot afternoon for an hour. Would not recommend. Go with the Big Bus Tours instead, there were three that came during the hour that I waited.

Hop on hop off best way to explore

We did all four routes. Information and music were excellent. Stops well placed. I would recommend that you do this to get a lay of the land and also use it to get to places you want to go to. We did do at least 6 miles of walking each day but the buses audio was great and so were the stops

No air conditioning in bus

It was very hot in Vienna and the busses had no air conditioning. This created a miserable experience. People were leaving the bus to walk back because the outside heat was not as bad as inside the bus.

Fully recommended

The three lines give a comprehensive view of the whole city, even the places developing around the new Danube. Yo can use the 24 hour counting since you are on the first time. It is true that you can use your ticket in all lines.
