Vienna Danube Tower

Expensive, Avoid.

Arrived at 1830hrs on 13th June 2024. Paid the €18 entry each. Arrived at the top to find the cafe and restaurant closed. It was just a view therefore expensive, avoid!

Stunning views

The Danube Tower is a must-visit in Vienna! This incredibly high tower offers breathtaking views of the city. The fast lift whisks you up to the top in no time, where you’ll find a fantastic viewing point and a lovely café. I had a delicious hot chocolate while enjoying the stunning panorama. There’s even a slide for the adventurous, though I wasn't brave enough to try it. Highly recommend for an unforgettable experience!

Amazing views

When booking this experience through viator, you don't get tickets. I needed to email the vouchers to the ticket office on arrival, so ensure you have data to do that. Or perhaps a printing facility (this wasn't given as an optio, but surely should be) In terms of the actual experience, we went by train and had a lovely walk through the park to get there. Amazing views of Vienna from above. As we had gone to the town center the day before, we had fun picking out a lot of sights we'd seen. Reason for 4 stars is that it's a short experience - once you are up and have walked around a bit, taken pics and possibly tried the slide, unless you have booked a restaurant, there isn't really much else to do. Also the information monitors didn't seem to work.

Fun experience, great views!

Fun to experience! Up via the super-fast lift in no time (be sure to look up through the lift's glass ceiling!) Once you arrive at the top, one of the things you can do is go to a revolving cafe where you spin around in about 5 minutes. There was a very nice hostess/operator walking around who offered to take a photo of many guests. My wife had a capucino, they put the tower's logo on the foam with it, very nicely done. The tower also offers a slide but we didn't use that. There is also a promenade/outside deck with fantastic views over Vienna. The restaurant at the top was not open yet in the afternoon, but the café also offered something to eat like cake. Transport there was easy with a bus line 20a from the nearest metro station Kaisermühlen VIC .

Top of the World

I was fortunate with the weather so I had great views. At around £18 for an adult it's an expensive visit but you can extend the visit for as long as you wish. There is no time limit. Do try the resolving restaurant if budgets allow. It's a unique experience as is the incredibly fast lift to the top.

Great views

Enjoyed apple strudel & coffee drinks in the Cafe. Watching the children in the tube slide. The end.

Tower

Nope... Not worth the money...views are cool but it's not worth juggling the transport links. We were in and out within 5 minutes. (Didn't go to the cafe).

Nice view but quite expensive

It's not that the view isn't nice (though not amazing) - it's the value-for-money. If I hadn't used my Vienna pass for it I wouldn't have gone there. Plus be advised - it's quite windy up there (got some nice photos of hair-in-the-wind though).

Must be done for city views

Easy to get to great 360 degree views of the City, very nice staff and the moving Cafe at the top is worth visiting!

Good experience better during daylight

Nice views from the top but to get there at night, I wouldn't have gone had it not been for my son as we had to walk through a path that was not lit. So, as a woman, I definitely would have gone during the day but not by night or would have called a cab. Very windy and cold out there so dress appropriately. I didn't realize there was a slide too. Seemed to be fun but, again at night time, I didn't want to try to do it.

We had a superb time at the Danube Tower and get the best views of this beautiful city

We had a great time at Danube Tower to end of our tour of Vienna. Being able to see the residential side of the city alongside famous attractions and historial places in the city was great and topped off by the slide at the end of the obeservatory viewings. This is highly recommended to anyone who wants to get a glimpse of the city as a whole and its various features.

Viator needs to work on the voucher for ticket problem.

The tower was fun and the views were breathtaking, but the "skip-the-line" didn't work. While I was there the "voucher" didn't work and several people were able to get in just walking up to purchase tickets while I was left waiting on the voucher to be accepted.

Lovely views of Vienna.

Excellent value and awesome views of Vienna and the surrounding area. Enjoyed a nice latte and slice of Nusstorte in the restaurant. Must say that it’s the best view I’ve ever had from a lavatory 😂

Lovely views from the top

We walked straight in and up in the elevator. The viewing towards the top is great and we spent a long time spotting various landmarks. It all felt very 60s retro

DONT BOOK THRU VIATOR!!!

Purchased tickets and was directed to check email for tickets. I NEVER received the tickets, so I paid again at the event. I texted thru their site and NEVER got a response. When I asked for a refund the day of and explained that I tried to contact them, i received a cold response from Mark Joseph Viator customer service stating that they would NOT refund the money and yet asked to be able to service me for future travels! Are you KIDDING! you just burned me for money and now you want to service my future travels! You lost all my business and everyone whom I speak with. ANYONE who reads this BEWARE!!! shop elsewhere

Worth a visit, the views were great

Enjoyed almost everything, Waa a let down up stairs, thought I was having a lunch meal, but it was only coffee and cake

Awesome views!

Fantastic experience! Excellent way to see the entire city and escape the crowds. Highly recommend getting a dessert & coffee at the 360 revolving restaurant. Well worth the trip!!!

Something a bit different

Visited with my husband and went up the tower. Views are very obstructed because of the railings. Went up to the cafe for lunch but sat for 25 minutes with no service so left. They had a photo picture machine which would email you the photo also, multiple days have gone past and no email. In general it was OK.

Danube Tower & Cafe

We viewed Vienna from both floors then had a Negroni & Aperol with Sachel Cake & an Apple strudel. Neither experience was cheap but the tower was an incredible view and the lift was very cool (spoiler may contain mission impossible music)

The views and the food. We were able to have lunch at the restaurant and it was a wonderful experience.

worth the Visit, But buy tickets in advance directly from Tower

The views were incredible, but the ease of this "skip the line" experience was not good. you still have to stand in line to show them the viator voucher to receive their tickets to get in. so there is no time saving. go to their own website to buy tickets to get their QR codes to sxan and get in directly.

This is an awesome way to see the city and get photos. Very friendly staff! The restaurant looked like it’s be a great experience too!

Great view of Vienna and its surroundings

We visited the Danube Tower on a cold, overcast and rainy day, yet the views from the 150 meter platform were very good and gives a wonderful overview of the city and its surroundings. Better still is a visit to the café restaurant above, where you have the same view, but now seated in a revolving restaurant whilst enjoying a light meal, snack and a drink. We have a great table and good service and would recommend this activity

Satisfied enough

The only criticism is the length of time up there. But amazing views of vienna and the danube river. Staff very friendly

Danube Tower, great view of Vienna

Great views. Rotating restaurant and bar. Must make a reservation for dinner top deck.. Cafe/bar has drinks and desserts. 2 viewing decks. Go in the evening to see the lights of the city. $30+ uber ride. Friendly staff.

What a view!

The whole city can be seen from this tower, such a breathtaking experience! The cafe staff was very lovely and efficient too :) Absolutely worth visiting, during any time of the day.

The view needs to be seen!

Amazing view of the wider area and the Danube from the tower! No stairs, just a very fast smooth lift. Restaurant requires booking, but nice cafe at ground level. 20 min walk through the park from the nearest station (Alte Danube). Just need to email the confirmation email to their email address, but other than that entrance not an issue. Wasn't very busy so didn't have to wait for the lift and plenty of space to move round the observation level, understand that it gets very busy in the summer so probably more waiting time required

Love the views

You have nice panoramic views from the top of the tower. We couldn't have time to enjoy the views from the restaurant, as it was closed in the morning.

Amazing views of Vienna

Enjoyed amazing views of Vienna from the Danube Tower (Donauturm) observation platform on a chilly day in late February 2023. After taking in amazing views, I decided to warm up with a cappuccino and apple strudel in the café. Great place to visit when in Vienna.

Interesting, spectacular

The service was very nice and kind. Hint 1: you need to make a reservation if you want to go to the restaurant. Hint 2: the tower where you sit for a coffee it turns around it is amazing! Must to go if you want to visit Danube

Unique fine dining

Sumptuous food. Outstanding service and very relaxing ambience. Despite it being foggy, we all enjoyed our dining experience.

View over Vienna whilst eating in snack bar was ace. Wasn't that busy and was able to wait for a window seat.

The splendid view from...

The splendid view from the top. The restaurant offered a very special menu. Taking your lunch while seeing all Vienna from upside is really amazing

Breathtaking views of Vienna

We took the U1 from Vienna and had a lovely walk through the Danube Park to get to the tower. (The park is very large and beautiful to see). Once at the top of the tower, we were treated to magnificent 360 degree views of the city and a simple lunch in the cafe, which is a rotating restaurant. Our waiter was a bit of a character, but in a good way. The whole excursion took about 4 hours, including the underground ride and walk to and from the tower. As we visited in the off season, there were very few people in the park and tower, making the entire experience very pleasant.

Great view, signs above stating what you are looking towards. Went in Cafe and had a drink and slice of cake.Takes about 30mins for the rotation to be completed

Danube tower - waste of time past 7pm

The tower staff were ignorant and lazy shutting the tower 1 hour before scheduled closing time so that they could leave there position of work early

Waste of money

Not really value for money. Can see the same, if not better, view from the Schonbrun palace gardens for free. Cafe was not open neither was restaurant unless pre booked. Pretty disappointed if I’m honest

Great photos

Great walk from the train station. Not long... panaramic view of Viena. Nice apple struddle with cream. Kids enjoyed it... Nice small break worth a visit.

Magnificent views, it's worth every cent! You can enjoy your melange while the tower slowly turns, showing beautiful scenery inch after inch.

Tower and view good

Fantastic views and surroundings. Easy to get to from metro station - 10 minute walk through a nice park. Staff at desk and lift very friendly. We had a great sunny day for it. Unfortunately our experience in the restaurant marred our experience. The restaurant revolves slowly which is cool.However, whilst the food and drinks were refreshing be aware the minimum payment by card is €20. My husband does not like heights so just me and my son went up and it was easier for me to take my card rather than loose cash up which my husband stayed downstairs with. Our bill came to just over €10 but the waiter was astonished and rude when realised we only had a card, We are not ignorant tourists and did come to Vienna with cash it was just that my husband was downstairs with the cash and whilst I perhaps could understand that maybe the restaurant has to pay a surcharge for card payments under €20 I saw no signs anywhere stating this or I may have thought to order more food. What incensed me was the rudeness of the waiter and the fact he then said loudly to other customers in Austrian ‘this woman has no cash!’ which completely ruined what had been a good visit up until then. He did begrudgingly accept the card then moaned about having to print off 3 receipts! We left quickly feeling rather embarrassed and belittled.

not that much to do

Very fast lift up to the viewing platform. Don't go if you don't like heights! Queue for the lift of course. I think there is a cafe up there but we weren't allowed in it. We went down to to biergarten which is quite nice but slow service. You might like the shop.

Great place

Excellent view. You can feel the history from up here. Also nice park for long walks. I recommend! :)

Unique experience

It was a really unique experience. Recommended 100% .is not close to the center, you need some time to go but it really worth it. Aperol spritz and apple pie were good value for price . Amazing view of Vienna. very polite staff.

Great 360 degree view of Vienna

A lift takes you to the viewing platform and gives you a 360 degree panoramic view overlooking Vienna. There is also a revolving cafe/ restaurant

Nice change

Must C for fans of viewpoints, the cafe also runs when you are sober. This tower is a nice change in Vienna with all its beautiful classical buildings. The fans can use the slide...
