Vienna-Budapest One-Way Sightseeing Transfer

I wanted to make my mom's first trip to Europe a memorable one. I came across Sidetrip Tours when searching for transfer options between Vienna and Budapest and I am so glad I did! After reading glowing reviews about Martina and her colleagues, my mom agreed that this was the tour she wanted to take. Upon booking, the Sidetrip Tours team was very responsive and accommodating to our requests leading up to the trip. The day before our tour, I received an email indicating our meeting location, time and our guide's details. To our surprise, we were matched with Martina! From the moment Martina picked us up until we were dropped off, she ensured that we were comfortable and well informed about each location from history to art. We started our trip in Vienna and headed to Bratislava, Slovakia. The drive was filled with beautiful scenery and wonderful conversation. Upon our arrival, Martina took us around the town square and showed us a number of historical buildings stopping for pictures and a lovely café for coffee. Following this visit, we made our way north towards Budapest stopping in three quaint towns: Györ, Esztergom and Szentendre. Martina filled each of our stops with beautiful backdrops for photos, interesting facts and the historical significance of each town. I highly recommend Sidetrip Tours and Martina for these one way trips. This one will be hard to beat! If we ever find ourselves in Europe again, we will definitely be including these tours in our plans. Thank you Martina and team!

A Wonderful Trip

The trip was wonderful. Gabriela was an excellent guide, very warm, friendly, and personable. She was very accommodating of my physical limitations. She took us to several interesting places and shared a lot of information about life in Slovakia. We would love to travel with her again.

Great tour, but not a private transfer as advertised

Definitely the best way to get from city to city as it gives you the chance to see things that are off the beaten path and really worthwhile! My only complaint is that upon booking I confirmed with the tour company that this was a private tour as advertised, and that they would be picking us up from and dropping us off at where we would be staying. A couple weeks before the trip they contradicted their previous statement and said that this would not in fact be the case, as we would be sharing a rather cramped van with 4 other travelers (making our group 7 people total) and the pickup/dropoff location would be different. It took a lot of back and forth to make sure we were dropped off at our destination in Budapest, and while they did give us a partial refund (which I appreciate), I wish the advertising and communication had been more up front about the fact that this is not in fact a private transfer and that pickup and drop off at your destination are not guaranteed. Had I known this in advance, I would have been able to enjoy the experience without the stressful back and forth of trying to negotiate what I thought I had already paid for. Regardless, the tour guide was lovely and I am glad to have done it.

Great way to learn the history of Hungary and transfer from Vienna to Budapest

There was a total of 7 of us. It would be perfect for 6 people. If you want to sit comfortably Tour was very informative and we learned a lot about what happen in Hungary. Really sad and interesting things.

A Great Way to Travel between Vienna and Budapest

I would highly recommend using this tour group. We took the tour from Vienna to Budapest and it was a great journey. Ildi was our guide for the day and we she was very informative regarding our destinations. She was also a wealth of information about general questions regarding Austria, Hungary, and Budapest. The pick up was in a central location in Vienna and the bus / maxi van used for transport was very comfortable. There was ample storage for our luggage as we each had a small rolly bag. We always carry large water bottles, but there were waters in a cooler for a nominal charge. The stops were interesting and driving through the Hungarian countryside was beautiful as there were fields and fields of sunflowers in bloom in July. When we left Budapest, we were talking to an American ex-pat about our trip and he said that we had seen some outstanding parts of Hungary. For our next trip to Europe, we plan to use the service again and I will plan our trip around one of the city pairs that are offered.
