Great Kayaking Experience

This was a truly great experience. We enjoyed a wonderful river kayaking trip with a very educational chat along the way. The guide, James, was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. We love to enjoy a little bit of activity while we travel, and this was very therapeutic to get out on the river. Thanks so much, James.

Fresh air

Everything was enjoyable, relaxing, great way to see the landscape, and get a bit of exercise. Guide was very informative and friendly. Will go again.

Adventure on the Danube

Experience was nice and was also good training especially when rowing against some wind 😃. Highly recommend, James was really good guide.

Very nice experience with calm waters and great scenery, our tour guide Nicola was more than great. Highly recommended although a bit overpriced.

Great way to see the less touristy side of the city

Never knew you could learn about a city through a kayaking experience but I’m so glad I did. I got to see and learn about new parts of the city that I never would have on my own while also being one with nature. Definitely recommend if you have the time.

Beautiful day on the water in Vienna. James was a fantastic guide with insights we would not have gotten on a traditional tour. The setting was unique and special. We really loved the outing.

Great tour with Nicola. (morning kayak tour) She shared so much about Vienna, the culture, the people, the food and the tour is such a nice way to see the outdoor element of this city that could be easily missed. Nicola is so lovely, accommodating and made us feel so comfortable! I highly recommend this tour and many thanks to Nicola for a wonderful morning.

Must do in Vienna!

I would rate 6 if I could. James and Nicola were knowledgeable and shared the unique tidbits of Vienna life. We learned a lot , It was fun to see from the water and a relaxing way to tour. The kayaks were first class, easy to paddle. You don’t need experience to enjoy this trip. James provided us afterward with tips and suggestions for other things to do.

Truly awesome activity in your citytrip

We had an great day on the water with James. It was a very pleasent outing during our very hot citytrip. The trip had it all: it was active, informative and just a great way to see Vienna from a different perspective. James is super relaxed and easy to talk to.

Fun and fresh air

A must do if you like fun, fresh air and a great guide. What a fantastic way to learn about Vienna with recommendations for food and further activities. James goes out of his way to involve everyone and ensures that everyone gets the most out of the tour. A stop for some swimming was really enjoyable and greatly appreciated. I will certainly be back to Venture Vienna if I'm in the city again,

Chilled out trip!

Can’t recommend this tour highly enough. James is a really friendly & engaging guide, providing a different view of life in Vienna through the eyes of an expat. The canoeing isn’t too strenuous & it was good to get out on the water to cool off in the +30 degC heat. We also had chance to grab a dip in the river, so make sure you wear your swimming gear. He has a secure lock up for your gear, plus supplied a large waterproof pack & pouch for your phone. Would recommend wearing a hat & taking plenty of sun block. He also provided extra information on things to do in Vienna,’places to eat & Austrian wine. Not enough time to explore these on this visit, but will certainly be looking at them on any future visits. Thanks James, a really enjoyable & relaxing time on the river.

Culture on the water!

This experience was the best way to start our visit to Vienna, especially on an extremely hot day. Wear a bathing suit! He has a secure area for you to stash your things. James has a convenient location walkable to the Ubahn. His boats are safe and easy to handle and he gives good instruction for paddling. He has a great manner with adults and kids. If requested he can recommend other dining and tourist attractions. One in particular stood out for us. After visiting this one location it seemed to us to be is one of the best kept secrets in Vienna. You’ll have to join him to find out! Museums in Vienna are great but I highly recommend treating your group to an outdoor adventure like this. Learning more about the Alte Donau and the growth of the surrounding area was itself a great cultural experience for my family. Treat yourself and you won’t be disappointed!!

Fabulous family fun!

James was amazing! We had a great paddle, learning more about our surroundings, going for a swim, and checking out his recommendations!! I would highly recommend it! He also sent us awesome photos of us that he took. Thank you James and Luanne!

A great fun day out on the water!!

We had a wonderful time kayaking with James. We are a family of four with two children aged 10 and 8 and this was a perfect activity for all of us. It was fun and a great way to see a different side to the city with incredible views. James is very friendly and very knowledgeable and made the whole day a great experience. James followed up the day with an email full of great recommendations. We took up a few of these and we’re not disappointed. I would highly recommend this as a fantastic day out. It was the best day of our holiday!!

Great way to see Vienna

Super fun tour. It was lovely to see Vienna from a whole different angle and James (the tour guide) knew a lot about the city. I felt like I got a workout, but it wasn't difficult. James is super friendly and interested in each person on the tour. Highly recommend.

Can't recommend this activity enough! Had a wonderful time. Viewing the city from the water is such a unique experience and our guide James was very knowledgeable and engaging. The kayaks are very comfortable and easy to maneuver, even the beginners in the group had no issues. Met some lovely people from around the world. My favourite activity in Vienna!

Need a change of pace or just love boats.

The guide was engaging and knowledgeable. This was just the right change of pace from the other sight seeing we had been doing. The location of the tour gave a completely different perspective on Vienna and the small group size created an intimate environment. With no current and light winds this tour, in an area with no combustion powered boats, is suitable for beginners to experienced boaters. Pack your sun tan lotion! The local tips were a bonus.

A great morning kayaking

We had a lovely morning kayaking with James, who was an entertaining and informative host. The new kayaks were very comfy, and we meandered the waterways at a nice pace. Lovely views of new Vienna, with good company ❤️

See a different side of Vienna

James was a wonderful tour guide. He is knowledgeable about the city and has great tips for your stay in Vienna. I was in a double with my 6 y.o. kid and was easily able to keep up with the group. If you are from out of town, make sure to have Whatsapp to receive the pictures. Waterproof phone case and bags are provided. Also wear sandals as your feet may get wet getting in and out of the kayak.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable morning exploring part of Vienna via kayak with James and Luanna. A glimpse into the everyday life and recreation options for locals. Comfortable and easy to use kayaks. Highly recommended.

Kayaking in Vienna

We had an enjoyable morning kayaking with James in a lovely quiet part of Vienna. It was great to see the area around the lake (Old Danube and hear about that part of the city. An escape from the fast pace of the centre with James who is a lovely guy and a great guide.

Great morning on the water

This was a really fun experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a stunning morning on the water and James is a fantastic host.

One of the must be done activities in Vienna. Specially to those who loves being close to nature.

Everything was above expectations. Starts from the quality of gear, nature, and James himself how was leading all these to make it unforgettable experience to all of us. I would like to thank him for his excellent preparation, as well as his valuable info was providing us through the trip.

Brilliant tour with a

This was a relaxed and fun tour and James was a great guide! We got to learn a bit about Vienna and really enjoyed our time on the water. Really accessible to beginner kayakers to those who've never done it before too. It was a great start to our trip in Vienna as James also gave us loads of great tips and recommendations for the rest of our stay. Highly recommend :)

Unique & super fun!

This is a must-do in Vienna! I had so much fun. The setting is unique and beautiful, and gave us insight on an area that’s a local favorite. James was a great guide - patient and helpful, very knowledgeable with a unique perspective on Vienna. He was also great at engaging with the whole group! Perhaps I got lucky but the group was lovely as well, we had a great time together (I went solo, so was wondering how this would go!). James also has great wine tips!! Just book this, you won’t regret it :)

Fun kayak trip for teens fed up of sightseeing !

My 3 teens went on this kayaking trip (I couldn’t as had an injured shoulder!) with James and some other clients. Good fun, they enjoyed it despite only average weather (cloudy and cool). Covered quite a distance, James was an interesting guy and they learnt a lot of fun facts. He gave us some good recommendations for restaurants and activities. A cool way to see a different side of Vienna. Thanks James and good luck!

Great experience

Absolutely fantastic morning out. James is a fabulous guide and very interesting person. I am Austrian myself and spent some years in Vienna but kayaking along the Old Danube with this international group was a very special experience. And believe it or not, right there on the Danube I learned a lot about how to prepare Orangutans for wildlife in Borneo.

Hidden gem just a few stops away from Vienna's city center.

James is a great tourguide and leads the kayaking tours as a cool combination of a sports activity with a guided tour. He shares his interesting insights with a good sense of humor. Really exceded our expectations.

Friendly and group kayak experience in a chilled out part of a bustling city.

Excellent friendly kayak tour. James is very knowledgeable and our family enjoyed the experience paddling around the Alte Donau. The conditions were perfect and we had a little swim afterwards - my arms weren’t even sore the following day even though we kayaked a fair distance!

Another Side of Vienna

It was a very relaxing half day on the lake Alte Donau. We were very lucky with the weather. If the storm came 6 hours earlier, our tour would have been cancelled. Our guide James told us interesting facts about the area and kayaking in general, gave us some solid tips on what to do in Vienna. We swam a little in the lake after the tour ended. Perhaps it is not typical Vienna experience, and it was different, but awesome.

If you'd like a change of pace from the usual sightseeing and cultural experiences, this is an excellent option for you! It is a particularly good way to get a bit of exercise and to be out in nature while also getting to know a different side of Vienna. James was an excellent host and is able to accommodate all levels of kayaking experience.
