Just a suggestion to consider

This could have been a spectacular journey, with the right guide. The destinations are quite picturesque and worth the visit but I wouldn’t recommend doing them all in one day. The first stop was early which means it was not busy yet washrooms were not open nor was there time for a quick coffee and the last stop was rushed because we were pressed for time and everything closes up at 6 pm. As we were being led to our pick up place, we felt rushed and had little time for pictures or even the tour for the Mozart birth place. Had the guide engaged in some conversation with the group of 7 rather than small one-on-one chats, the day may not have felt so long. A head set with speakers to talk and educate the tourists would have made this an interesting adventure. I would recommend finding a tour to Hallstatt and spending the day there. This stop is by far the best and most memorable. It isn’t worth 14 hours for basically a peek at each place. I thank the driver for smiling and being kind but tourism is more about engaging with the customers and educating them on the history they have come to see and hear about.

Visiting Hallstatt is a memorable experience

For this trip visiting Hallstatt is worth it. This little town is a gem. I would spend more time in Hallstatt and less time in the other places. The driver was friendly but it will help if he explains more about the history of the places, explains about the towns as we were driving. The trip is a full day (13 hours) .

Quick Day Trip along the Alps

This is a great tour fir people with limited time to see several places in the Alps all in one day. The tour guide and driver, Nicolas, was very friendly, knowledgeable and planned the day effectively in an optimal way. Luckily, the weather was great too.

The places are beautiful. It is a little bit in a Hurry but the viauws are worderful the conpany should confirm the pick-up time earlier

Eh, to rushed.

Like many have posted, I wish this trip skipped Wachau and Melk and allowed more time in Hallstatt and Salzburg. It made the trip feel rushed. Sure we ‘saw’ everything, but it was a quick walk through. Not a lot of time to explore and enjoy. Be prepared for a full day. We were 13 hours from hotel to hotel.

Not worth the money - only transport and too long of a day

Tour company very disorganised with no set times and no real “guiding”. Essentially is only transport and they day is way too long. We could not hear the driver who needed to have a microphone set up. I also question the safety of the driver having to drive two more hours to her home after drop offs. This company need to look at what other tours are doing and follow suit. Totally not worth the money

Before booking a trip, I was contacted directly to this tour. I was mentioned my flight condition on Friday 11.35 PM. And required for arrive Airport around 9 PM. This tour was confirmed twice to able to do that. But in the tour day, they send the woman driver who knows nothing about the details and drop us around 10.12 PM( Almost can’t load luggage) At first she wasn’t willing to drop us first, she wanted to drop other guests which wasn’t mentioned on details at Vienna. The city was perfect but the service mind is horrible. If you want this trip please prepare around 14-15 hr not 12-13 hr as they mentioned

Don’t book here! Complete loss of time

DON’T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME! They canceled the tour just 4 hours before it started, 2:21 am! Vía e-mail. So it was impossible at 7:30am on June 6 to book another tour for the day. We came a long way to get here and this is a shame. This is extremely unprofessional and they shouldn’t even get the chance to be on Viator.

I booked this trip in advanced. And at 6 am I got a message from this company that my trip is cancelled. I wasted a day here because most of the good trips were already booked. Don’t trust this company

Nit a good experience

Replacement driver and guide came for the tour and it started from 9am instead of 7:30. He didn’t have much knowledge of the places. So descriptions were brief. He didn’t plan for dinner stop since this trip was for 12/13 hours. Also whole driving us back home he was not following navigation correctly and driving in circles. Didn’t had a plan about dropping tourists at their hotels. So overall is not a good experience.

Scenic views!

The Hallstatt scenery was fantastic! Garden and castle of Salzburg was magnificent, Melk monastery has an elevator to help tourists. A grand church deserves more time.

Fantastic trip out

Annett was a really friendly and lovely tour guide who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip out! It felt very personalised and we had plenty of time to explore each area! Great knowledge of these areas with a guided tour!

A day to remember

It was a memorable trip from Vienna. Maria, our tour conductor was punctual to the minute and well organised at every step. She took care of every single detail throughout the day. Highlighting the beautiful spots and keeping us all engaged in endearing conversations.

Love Hallstatt

Trip was quite rushed because 4 places packed into one day . Would have liked to have more time in Hallstatt because the scenery there is beautiful. Our guide Lorant was very patient .

Full day trip

We had a wonderful time even though it was raining and the weather was not as we expected. Dan our driver make our trip entertaining and he was knowledgeable about the trip and stops. We appreciate him and at the end we all received chocolate. Awesome experience!!!

Unprofessional, trip can be cancelled at any time, no communication, not to be trusted

The trip was cancelled at 2:30 AM, just before the trip at 7:30 AM by email without giving us any reason. Very disappointing and stressful for us, as we were planning the trip, and paid fully, for days. The company is not based in Vienna, and does not seem to care about the image people get from Austria. I phoned and send messages to them the day before, to get information on where we would be picked up, but received no communication from them.

Austria rolling hills, lakes and mountains

The trip was what I was expecting a long day that gave me a quick way to see the sights, I had hoped to see. Each place we went had beauty and charm. The Guide Annet was amazing showing a passion for making the trip wonderful, she went above and beyond to make the trip great

Book elsewhere

The tour operator cancelled and refunded at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of my scheduled trip, without any warning. My scheduled pickup was between 7:15 and 8. I heard from Maria was at ~7:30 a.m. that there 5 pickups and she would let me know about 10 minutes in advance when she was heading to me but no follow-up until I received the cancellation email. I had been looking forward to this for months. Viator support was unable to contact the operator for details and unable to provide an alternative since it was so late. Book elsewhere if you are set on seeing these places like I was and, unfortunately, still am.

A overwhelming itinerary

This excursion tries to do too much in too short a time. We were picked up at our hotel at 7:30 am and returned at 10:30 pm. Stopping in Hallstatt for 1.5 hours , Melk for approximately 45 minutes , Wachau briefly and Strasburg for 2 hours. Lunch and dinner were on our own but there was little time to visit a restaurant eat and see the sights. Had we an appreciation of that we may not have chosen the tour. Our guide, Annett, was friendly and kind. Sitting in the front of the van we had good conversations about many things. Unfortunately she had not been provided a microphone to broadcast to the whole group and those in the back seats heard little and important information was missed or needed repeating. In several places she needed prompting with questions about the itinerary or plans. We enjoyed seeing all these places and hopefully will return for more detailed visits in the future

Great tour

The trip was amazing. Our guide, Milan, was incredible. He was in time for pick up. He was Very caring, and did all his best to make that trip excellent. A special thanks to him for this incredible tour. Melk, Hallstatt and Salzburg are worth seeing and must visit places. Do recommend to watch the film Sounds of Music to feel those places and understand the beauty. Everything was great no additional comments. Thanks a lot.

When in Austria…

This was an amazing tour, beginning to end! Nicholas was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive. Really enjoyed the smaller group atmosphere. It was a more personal experience. Love the option of pick ip and drop off at hotel as I was a solo traveler.

Austria Day trip

It was a great way to enjoy the highlights. On time pickup and offered flexibility. Showed us nice photo spots along the way. Martin was very nice. Definitely worth it!

Breathtaking views!!! Worth it!

This was a fun full day trip. Our guide Lorentz gave us tips and helpful information with options on every stop since our group had diff. interests, levels of fitness, and languages in spite of being in English. Some people didn’t understand English very well and they got lost in Salzburg, but he was able to locate them and picked them up. This caused a delay on our already long trip back to Vienna. Our trip was memorable thanks to our guide. He was thoughtful by giving us Still water, a celebration drink, local candy and timely break stops. Austria has so much to offer. This tour is just a taste so you will want to come back to explore more. Highly recommend!

Long rushed trip, know you have very little time to sightsee

The tour guide was a nice person but he didn't so much act as a tour guide but more as just a driver. Having experience other tour guides,Martin didn't say or point out much of anything and for a 13.5 hour trip more could be said. The stop in Melk of 30 minutes isn't enough for anyone to see the Abby except for the outside. Holstast was the same, you could have something to eat or rush to see one thing but not both. It was very rushed. Salsberg was the one place a person could actually look around d and explore the city. It's at the end of the day so, some were dragging but it gave adequate time. Anyone taking the trip should realize you ate in a car driving lo gwe than you are actually sightseeing.

Martin was an excellent host for the trip. Very professional and courteous, and gave us a great overview of Salzburg.

See a lot in one day quick tour

It was a long day but full of nice experiences. The tour guide communicated well the pick up time, the places we will visit. There is definitely not a lot of time, so try to manage your time well to experience all specially in Hallstatt. To be able to do the lift and skywalk, allot 1 hr for the lines and spending time up for the views. 45 mins will do, but better not to inconvenience your tour group by being late. We have 2 tour grp that was late 2 separate times, it is not good as this means less time to the high light of the trip which usually comes at the end. Best to be sensitive and apologize when you are late and dont do it again.

Lovely trip but bring your Euros!

Loved the convenience of this trip and our driver/guide was lovely. Visiting each place was great and scenic, but it was a very long day. By the time we got to Salzburg it was well after 5 PM and it felt like many stores were closed. Also, a warning should be added that most stores and restaurants in Halstatt do not accept credit cards so bring your Euros!

Beautiful experience but tour is too long

Good experience. Austria is simply spellbinding in raw natural beauty. Lorant was an amazing guide. 5 stars to him. But the trip is too long, almost 14 hours. It would be better to split the tour in two or skip Melk altogether. Altogether, had a great time and an amazing experience.

Loved the whole trip

It was an amazing trip. Anett was a really nice guide and she told us many intresting things about every place we went to. I also loved her guided tour in Salzburg. The car ride was very pleasant and it was really nice that you got picked up at your hotel and brought back again in the evening. I loved all the places especially Hallstatt was very beautiful and perfect to get some Lunch. In Salzburg I loved the view from the castle ( a recommendation from Anett). I personally walked up there but it was also possible to use a cable car to get to the top. All in all I loved the trip and can definetly recommend it.

Beautiful Hallstatt and Salzburg

This full day tour has a lot to cover resulting that we didn't have enough time (less than 1.5 hours) in Hallstatt and Salzburg. That is too much for a driver/guide to do in term of driving, parking and guiding us what to see. I would recommend not to stop at Wachau and Melk then we can spend more time in both Hallstatt and Salzburg.

disappointing

unfortunately, a very imbalanced tour program, we endured 16 hours and spent less than 2 hours in Salzburg. times could not have been respected due to one guide assignes to two vans, Our guide Michael very courtious but weak on tour guide skills. and please make sure a solid transportation is available , our Renauld van was not up to par for this long of a tour. will have to Watch my next Viator tour and ask questions before booking. thank you

Great day trip to Melk, Hallstadt and Salzburg

If you're short of time, it is worth the money covering 3 places in the same day. Our guide Milan (Miloslav) made sure to take care of all details, stopped as often as needed (coffee, bio) even though we needed to complete all 3 spots and return by late night. Hallstadt and Salzburg are picture perfect, and we got lucky as the sun was out all day even though it was cold. Every bit as described in the brochures. Of course, you can choose to spend days at each location and the locals would be more than happy to indulge you! Great trip and highly recommended.

A pleasant and memorable trip !

The view on the way to Salzburg and At Haalstaat and was amazing , we took so many photos. Our driver / guide , Laurent , is so cool , funny and very attentive , he makes our trip very pleasant. Overall is a very memorable trip . Definitely recommend this trip & Laurent

Lovely Day Trip to See So Much!

We loved Wachaun and Hallstatt the most! So beautiful and to be that close to the Alps was spectacular. Salzburg was nice and so much history but we arrived late, restaurants were closed or wouldn’t serve us. What we did see was beautiful. We would like to suggest that the tour guide be educated and knowledgeable of all the stops and in between and share the knowledge while driving through all areas. Beautiful Beautiful ❤️

Beautiful Austria

Our guide Lorent was very kind and accommodating. All the stops were wonderful . I would highly recommend this tour . It is a long day , but the drive is beautiful!!! It looks like the Austria is was imagining. Vienna did not look like I thought it would .

Places are really beautiful specially hallstat But there are lot of miscommunications. Driver Maria was really awesome in driving, energetic and well behaved as well, but she must be little bit organised more. Two places got missed out melk and wachau

Journey Insights

Overall, our trip was enjoyable and provided an opportunity to meet wonderful people, take a break from Vienna, and appreciate the kindness of our guide. It's evident the company is still finding its footing, reflected in the loose itinerary and the guides' familiarity with the history at the sites. The excursion is quite lengthy, so be prepared for a full day. I noticed our driver/guide seemed fatigued towards the end. For those who prefer a fast-paced tour hitting numerous stops, this itinerary would suit them well. However, I lean towards savoring each destination, making the rushed pace less enjoyable for me. In terms of suggestions for improvement, it felt like the river stop/Wachau segment could be omitted, as it was merely a brief stop with minimal exploration, which could allow for more time elsewhere. Additionally, the van used for the six-hour round-trip drive felt cramped, especially compared to a previous tour I took that offered a larger van equipped with amenities like wifi. Given the duration of the journey, a more spacious and comfortable transport would enhance the overall experience. Another idea to save time is to have everyone gather at a meeting point for take-off in the morning. Driving around to pick everyone up and park took an hour. Dropping everyone off at their hotel at the end of the day makes sense with how dark and late it is by the time we got back. While this may be an unpopular opinion, we found that Salzburg resembled a smaller Vienna, but more condensed and crowded. We felt the town could be skipped since we didn’t feel the need to go there just for the Mozart landmarks. Something for others to consider in the future. We would have loved to have spent more time in Hallstatt. These personal preferences aren’t something I’m knocking the tour company for. Just advice to those considering day trips outside of Vienna.

Great tour! Got to see a bunch of great places and had a wonderful time. The drive was long, but had a lot of stops along the way to break it up.

Awesome Tour

This is a nice tour. Luront was a wonderful tour guide. The day is a bit long so the only feedback I would suggest is to removed the Melk stop. Everything else is perfect! I would recommend this tour - beautiful sites

Great tour!

It was a great tour! The first stop (the river) could easily be skipped and the extra time given to Hallstatt. The Abbey was very interesting to see, I enjoyed tasting the wine. It was also a great way to get to know the other people on the tour. Hallstatt was gorgeous! Could’ve used a little more time there to do the skywalk. However, it was short and perfect. The last stop of Salzburg was very interesting. The guide listened to the group and adjusted the tour according to the people. Be aware that it is a VERY long day, bring snacks in the morning as the first time you can get food is in the town of Hallstätt around 12 (or later).

Amazing

I had an amazing day on this trip to Halstatt/Salzburg. My guide Maria was lovely and very insightful, and she made the trip an absolute joy. My highlight had to be when in Halstatt, just the most beautiful village surrounded by mountains. Do be warned however that this is a very long day out, as you make stops on your way to Salzburg but then from Salzburg you drive straight back to Vienna which was a struggle given it was a very hot day and we did not leave Salzburg until around 8pm. It may be better to move some of the destinations attended to the journey back to break this up a little bit.

Fabulous trip

Everything thing about the trip was amazing. Hallstatt Sky walk was the stand out. The view of the Austrian Alps was out of this world. I would have loved to stay at Melk Abbey and Saltzburg a little longer. But this provides a reason to return to Austria.
