Best tour guide ever!

I usually don't leave reviews, but after visiting several museums in Prague and Vienna, I am not wrong in saying that Margit is the best tour guide we have ever had. As a librarian, she has a vast knowledge of Vienna’s history and art. Thanks, Margit for a lovely afternoon and a wonderful restaurants recommendation.

great guide; explained the history of the palace which houses the collection of art and also took us through all the important parts of the museum with substantial time in the Gustave Klimpt area. the klimpts were amazing and is a must see in Vienna

Fantastic

Peter is a fantastic tour guide! He has very extensive knowledge, brought visual examples for us to explore to grasp the elaborate work of the palace and its history. A great story teller and a lovely gentleman, Peter gave us insights into Klimt and the collection as well as other greats, such as Van Gogh, Monet, and Munch. The Palace itself is very grand, and in finer weather the views must be stunning ( it was raining.) The reservoir and gardens are very impressive. I consider this tour as one of the very best, Peter’s attention to detail and his personality and style is exceptional.

Private Belvedere

We had a truly wonderful experience with Katarina , a very thorough tour of the grounds and museum. Her command of Austrian history and art were remarkable. We did not feel rushed or stressed like we have on some tours . This was an incredibly worthwhile and educational experience. HIGHLY recommend!!!!

High Quality Guiding in a beautiful setting.

A little hick-up on the day, diligently and swiftly sorted out by Bonita from Insightcities, with a small re-scheduling of start time. Katarina, our super knowledgeable, specialised, local guide gave us a fact- and fun- filled generous 2 1/2 hours at this stunning venue. As an extra treat, 'Judith' by Gustav Klimt was actually in the house ! ( This painting is on tour a lot ) This experience is a magnificent treat for all art and history lovers.

Must do when visiting Vienna

Our guide Stephen was a delight. He explained everything as it relates to the identity of Austria. From the walk through the gardens and through the artwork. Stephen is extremely knowledgeable and the time flew by. We highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic tour

We had an incredible experience with this tour. Annelie was knowledgeable and very engaging in both history and art. The group was small only 3 couples so it was perfect. I really can’t express how much we enjoyed it so much information and context for what you are seeing. Again our guide Annelie could not have been better!

Great tour!

After enjoying a great tour in Prague with Insight Cities (Beer and Baroque), I was lucky enough that Insight Cities was able to organise a tour for me at the last minute in Vienna. Alan was my guide. Knowledgeable, humorous and an afternoon of interesting conversation. Very much recommend. Went on to book two more tours with Insight Cities in Budapest.

Great guide at the Belvedere!

Extremely knowledgeable tour guide. We were in a small group. She offered to extend our tour as well which was very nice. Very detailed. Def recommend going on a small group guided tour of Belvedere Museum. Learned about the history of Austria as well as viewed a lot of art. Very kind and nice guide as well.

Great experience

Alan was a wonderful guide and with tremendous knowledge and passion both for history and art. It was an added bonus to discover he is American and he had the unique perspective of having lived for decades both in and outside Austria. Very engaging and passionate about what he does. Highly recommend!

A tour (and guide!) not to be missed

We had such a nice time on our tour! Our guide (Wolfgang) was very knowledgeable, and provided unique insight into the history of the palace. He made the palace come alive, and we would highly recommend booking a tour.

Fascinating History, incredible place.

Our guide, Ilse, was punctual, accommodating, interesting and so passionate. She made the history and art come alive and really applicable to our personal histories and the impact of the times, people and events that shape us. I learned things I did not know and I studied art history. I cannot recommend Ilse or this tour enough. Deeply touching. Incredible place and history, wonderful guide.

Good for art lovers

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Belvedere. We toured the ground for about 45 minutes. Then we moved to the indoor area. A lot of time was devoted in admiring / analyzing the art works inside the museum. I believe it would be more suitable for people who are very into art. This was not what I had expected so was somewhat disappointed.

Great visit

Annelie is a great guide. She is very knowledgeable in Greek & Roman ethimologies, Art nouveau & modern art. She made her visit very pleasant.

2.5 hours flew by very fast! The tour was captivating! Annelie in-depth knowledge of not only art history but also details about people and political climate at the time, made Belvedere Palace came alive! Wonderful, expressive, storyteller! A great tour by a professional guide

My family of four had a great tour of the upper Belvedere palace and its gardens by Anelie, a passionate and very informative guide. Anelie shared with us a great deal of history facts about the palace, its owners and the history of Vienna through the last 900 years, while also explaining the significance of diverse art work. We highly recommend this tour!

Fabulous small group tours!

We did two tours through Insight Cities -- the Belvedere small group tour with Katarina and the Jewish Vienna tour with Annelie. Both tours were excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any tour that Insight offers. Both of our guides were extremely knowledgeable, with advanced degrees in history or other relevant subjects. Flawless English, personable, and able to go "off script" and answer questions on just about anything. And the owner of the company was lovely to deal with when we had an issue about dates for our tour -- highly responsive and thoughtful. We've done small group tours in most European cities, and these were some of the best we've ever had!

The Palace and its Gardens

Suzanne provided an excellent tour. The first half of the tour focused on the grounds and gardens around the palace. Suzanne has a real passion for landscape design of this type and was able to explain the zoo and other aspects of the grounds in the context of the culture at that time. The second half of the tour, of the palace and its artwork, was also very educational.

Perfect tour with guide Annelie in Belvédère palace

Gustav Klimt was for us the favorite part of the experience. Our guide could tell a lot about him . We had a perfect tour with our guide Annelie. She gave us a lot of information about the history, the art and the gardens of this beautiful palace. She gave us the opportunity to ask questions. We really appreciated the private tiur with two persons.

Small group Belvedere museum tour

This is a must tour in Vienna!!! From history to art history to art itself it was sooo informative, with sense of humor also. We took similar tours in Rome and Paris in art museums and this tour was as good if not better then what we have experienced before . We loved that our tour guide started with gardens and history and then continued to art . I will do this again when visiting with my other son. We stayed after the tour and visited lower Belvedere, there was Dali/Freud exhibit so it was a plus, but having a guide in upper Belvedere was absolutely best decision we could have made.

A trip back in time!

Tour guide Annelie was exceptional! She had such enthusiasm and passion. She shared history and stories of both the palace and the art.

Awesome personal tour

Annelie was a fantastic tour guide, and our party of 3 had a wonderful time with her guiding us through the Belvedere. She met us in the city center and took us to the Belvedere (we really appreciated the advice on transit, and the extra info we got on Vienna's history - as well as recommendations for restaurants & other things to see while in the city!). We were some of the only people at the Belvedere due to the weather mid-January & covid lockdown, so we got an amazing, in depth, personalized tour of both the grounds, the building, and & the art housed there - with literally no crowds. We would definitely recommend this tour & Annelie in particular - she was so lovely & informative & enthusiastic about her city!

Best way to see Belvedere!

We had more than just a tour of the beautiful Belvedere! I'm a museum junkie so I was in heaven. We had a history lesson, art lesson and more information to make our tour complete. The palace is magnificent and the art is breathtaking . The Klimpt Gallery was one of my favorites parts. The grounds and all the rest of the tour was wonderful. The smallest of the group was great so we could ask lots of questions. Our guide, Ilse, was extremely informative and very educated in all aspects. It was worth every penny. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend as part of a Vienna tour. And Vienna as a whole was the best! So much to do and see.

Lovely gardens and nice art collection inside the Palace

The gardens are really pretty. 14 euro admission to see the detail of the rooms and artwork inside which I enjoyed. If you have no interest in art, it might not be worth the entry fee. The ballroom is nice to see. You can buy tickets online to avoid the queue. There is a cloakroom to put backpacks into.

Klimpt..the kiss

Our visit was short but we were able to see the gardens and fountains. Inside the palace which was built as a summer palace for prince Eugène of Savoy they house a collection of Klimpt paintings 2hich include the kiss.In addition there are paintings by Scheile .

Great guide!

Angelika was a great tour guide of a beautiful palace/gallery. Brought art to life through detailed background, and showed the progression of the artists.

Great Tour Guide

We were extremely fortunately to have Ira as our guide. She met us on time, helped us purchase the right tickets, provided a wonderful history of the place, walked us through the gardens, provided information on key pictures and recommended a great place for lunch. Belvedere Palace is beautiful and Ira helped us see that beauty. You will be fortunate, just like us, if you get her as your guide.

Attractive palace and gardens

We had free entrance to this venue with our Vienna Pass, but it’s not worth it to see inside, as it’s mostly just an art exhibition. The outside of the building, the gardens and fountains are all that’s worth going to see, they are stunning, and free to visit.

Great tour and tour guide!!

We arrived in Vienna with only one full day to enjoy the sights. A tour of the Belvedere was recommended and did not disappoint!! We arrived a little early and had no problem getting in. Our tour guide Alan met us at the ticket office as scheduled. We went through the Belvedere receiving highlights of the art and artists as well as the history of the Vienna. Other tourists recognized that Alan was doing such a great job that they listened in and even started to ask him questions. We all enjoyed listening. A note to seniors: be prepared for climbing steps. Not stopping with the Belvedere, Alan added on a walking tour and even guided us through the city on public transportation. Nothing bad about the tour other than the light rain during our walking tour that did not detract from the visit. Thanks Alan for making this one of our very best tours! We would have never had such a great day and visit to Vienna without this tour. We will return!

Artfully stunning

I waited a long time in a couple of lineups to get into the art gallery but so worth it. Several rooms of assorted artists which was amazing. Klimt's works was worth the wait, he was such an inspiration to see. Wear good shoes and plan on being there about three hours, well worth it!

Enchanting! Must see

Belvedere Palace Gardens is truly enchanting. Its worth the visit and do allow at least 2 to 3 hours, more if you can to grab a coffee @ the cafe. We finished off our visit with a raspberry chocolate cake and lemon tarte. Memorable visit and highly recommended.

Fans of Gustavklimt

We came for this to Vienna to see Gustav Klimt art work exhibition in Belvedere Palace ! Very big place we could not finish the outside park tour, it was huge and also it was raining and very windy Anyway it ‘s something I would recommend to visit if you are in arts 😊

Excellent guide to the Belvedere Palace

My wife and I were visiting Vienna last week for the first time so we decided to have a guide to show us around the Belvedere. The guide (Ilse - unsure if that’s spelled correctly) was superb. She was very patient and made sure that we got to see all kinds of really interesting items and learned background information we couldn’t possibly have done ourselves - even with an audio guide/guidebook.

Belevedere Palace

Wolfgang our guide was excellent. He made it perfectly clear where we were to meet him. It would be helpful to note more clearly that the price of the tickets is not included in the price of the tour. We saw the major works in the vast collection. Wolfgang was very knowledgeable and gave us deep insight into what we were seeing. He also correctly read us and ended the tour when we were overwhelmed by art. We enjoyed having coffee with him. He also made suggestions as to things we should do with our remaining time in Vienna.

Price is really big for that tour but everything se is great There are a lot of pools and paths in the garden Even the building is fascinating

It was ok

For the price of the tour, I have expected seamless experience of the pallace history and the art pieces. Although Wolfgang gave a wonderful background to the history of the palace, the tour inside was not as smoothly curated as I would have expected.

lovely place to visit

If you love museums but find they overwhelm you at times, this is a great option. Our guide Wolfgang was very well spoken, and guided us through all the highlights. It's helpful to do a little research on the Belvedere in advance, so the tour isn't too focused on history and can be devoted more to the art.

<p>It was my last day in Vienna and I couldn't have chosen better tour to conclude my trip. I was the only one on the tour and tour went ahead. Dr. Christa Veigl is very knowllegeable, a lot of information about history, architecture of the palace and some stories about the original owner Eugene of Savoy. An excellent guide for the amazing palace. it was not as formal as it would have been should we had a big group of people. Three and half hours went really quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed our walk and conversation and would recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in a little bit more than just general info.</p>
