This audio tour is fabulous! You can do the park at your own pace and hear stories and guides the whole way through! Take as long or as short a time at each place and do it by car, bike or walk!

3/5.. informative but expensive

Was ok, some good stories to listen to in the car. Ear pieces are rubbish and it should have Bluetooth connectivity to your own ear buds (its 2023!). Also there should be an audio prompt to let you know the information in each location has finished like a beep.

Great learning experience

We loved the audio guide for Uluṟu. It kept our 11 year olds engaged through the whole day as we stopped at various places around the rock. We learnt so much about the rock, the area and general history and cultures. Very much worth it.

Audio Guide around Uluru and Kata Tjuta

The Uluru Audio Guide was a fantastic way to hear interesting facts and information while self driving around Uluru and Kata Tjuta. The information was easy to operate with GPS picking up locations and audio to allow hands free operation. The stories were authentically from indigenous sources.

Good substitute for the guided tours

Excellent audio guide with just the right amount of information provided at each stop. The commentary is triggered automatically based on your location and this worked well 95% of the time, but the software did seem to get a little confused when some sites were visited in a non-standard sequence. The company was pretty flexible in terms of pick up and drop off times for the device, but we would've appreciated an after-hours drop off option - in our case, we wanted to watch the sunset at Kata Tjuta but knew the office would be closed for device drop off by the time we got back, so had to return it early instead. Regardless, it was a great device to have around and a good substitute for the guided tours.

Best idea ever

Traveling as a group of 2 couples, we decided to hire audio guides as our time was limited and we had our own car. We were greeted by Natalie who was such fun and made sure we had the best time with our audioguides. We had them set up quickly, and headed out at our own pace. Some walked around and had heaps of information to listen to, but when it rained we took the car from point to point, listening to the commentary before parking and continuing on foot between the showers. We did the ranger-guided tour also but found that the audio guide was very informative for the remainder of the walk. We used them at Kata Tjuta also and learned so much. Many thanks again, Natalie.

Absolutely essential !

If you are self touring, this is a must. We hired the guide for our Uluṟu base walk. We hadn’t realised we should also have hired it for our trip to Kata Thursday, nor how great it was when driving around - the guide plays though your car radio. This isn’t some mass produced import, it’s home grown at Uluṟu by three local tour guides. The tech is spectacular - it knows where you are and plays automatically. The content is informative and enlightening, at times emotive, and equally covers Aboriginal story and history, European history, the rock itself, and the native flora and fauna. I really cannot recommend this more.

Excellent

These guides are fantastic. We wanted to do the base walk at our own pace but wanted to be well informed along the way. These guides were perfect. The information and stories they included were fascinating. Also very easy to use - and I’m no tech wiz. We took our own ear sets based on previous reviews but they were not needed. We found the sets supplied were comfortable and worked well.

Best choice we made and highlight of our trip

Highly recommend self walking tour of Uluru with the audio guide, the built in GPS meant you got information at appropriate locations. You were independent and could choose your own pace.

Highly recommend

If you want to walk the base of Uluru then don’t do it without this audio guide. It is fantastic! We learnt so much. A huge shout out to Natalie who was SO helpful in letting us know what to do. Natalie you made our Uluru experience awesome!!

Excellent experience

I highly recommend this as a cost effective and informative way of experiencing Uluru. We didn't want to do a formal tour as we wanted to experience Uluru at our own pace. But, we wanted to learn about Uluru and understand its place in Aboriginal culture and the environment and geology. This ticked all those boxes. My only tip is to bring your own headphones, we didn't love the headphones that were provided

Uluru interactions

This amazing beautiful place and it’s stories were wonderful. I travel solo and always love the random interactions along the way. The audio guide was interesting but I would have liked a bit more depth

World Class Experience

When our pre-booked guided tour cancelled at the last minute I was devasted. We were scheduled for a 6 hour sunrise and guided walking tour of Uluru and we thought this would be the highlight of our holiday. It was cancelled as our guide fell ill. In less than an hour, Alex from Uluru Audio Tours had helped me plan a self guided tour that was even better than we could have imagined. Alex took the time to calm my anxiety, talked with me about what we wanted to do and see, and then suggested a fantastic itinerary. She helped me book the Hop On Hop Off bus, and suggested what stops to use, and what direction to walk. After seeing the sunrise, we hopped back on the bus and got off at Mala Car park and walked clockwise - Alex accurately told us that this maximises our time in the shade. We ended our walk at the Culture Centre after walking 12 kms. The Auido Tour was amazing. The GPS was wonderfully accurate, even telling us about specific trees as we walked past. The information, stories of dreaming, and the history was easy to listen to and made the walk very enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous - your own personal tour guide!

What a fabulous audio guide! We took it with us out to Kata Tjuta and completed the Walpa Gorge walk, and then back to Uluru and walked the Mutitjulu Waterhole (Kuniya Walk) and the Mala Walk. The GPS location picked up very well, and told us a lot of information not only about the Anangu people, but also the flora and fauna of the area. We plugged it into the car while driving, and when walking we all had one of our own and listened via headphones (provided). Totally recommend this!

Own personal tour your way!

Visit and spend time enjoying Uluṟu your way! We had a hire car so we hired this GPS audio guide.. fantastic. Drove through national park bring guided and advised of the history and stories of this beautiful site! Plugs into your car and speaks through your radio.. the device is also portable take whilst walking and continue to be audio guided as you walk.. you can stay as long or as little as you want at each stop.. Highly recommend! And super cheap in comparison to other tours available

Informative and interesting

The Uluṟu Audio Guide was amazing. We walked around the base of Uluru and the guide explained lots of historical facts, anungu stories, details of the plants and birds around us. Without this, while spectacular and fascinating, the base walk could have become very monotonous. We especially loved the Midnight Oil cover at around the half way point of the walk - lifted us from our tired point. Thank you so much for enriching our time at this sacred place.

Excellent audio guide

Very good audio guide of the drive to, and walk around Uluru. The GPS location prompting for the commentary is really useful and being able to connect it to the car stereo made it really easy to use. Pick up and drop off service was cheerful and helpful. Would highly recommend for a tour you can do at your own pace.

Very useful accompaniment to the journey.

We found the guide to be useful and informative. It gives more flexibility than a guided tour does as you can use it to suit your own timing and also listen to it as you drive along, thereby learning about the drive in and out as well as Uluru and Kata Djuta. Recommended.

Uluru feedback

We love seeing Uluru. The guide was good fun in that it starting talking when we got near to various attractions. I was unwell and couldn’t walk far so enjoyed pressing the button and listening to them. We only had one day so didn’t get to hear all of it.

Fantastic

These devices are a great way to explore at your own pace. Was amazed at the accuracy of the location feature. We are a family of 4, each had their own device and my 7 & 10yo children were able to plug their own headphones in for comfort. Highly recommend.

A Must Have

We decided to do our own thing at Uluru and take our time walking the base. Decided to hire the audio guide and were SO pleased we did. The commentary was informative, interesting, well paced without being at all intrusive. It was also easy as to operate. Would thoroughly recommend.

Listen to the guides on your bike!

We hired bikes each to cycle around Uluru. The audio commentary was excellent, giving us information about the history, flora, geology and Aboriginal culture and stories. As we got to each of these significant and sacred places along the way, GPS triggered the relevant dialogue on the device and we listened hands free to the qualified Uluru guides through our headsets. A fantastic and economical way to get up close and explore Uluru, “The Rock”. Highly recommended!

Culture and history

So pleased we hired the audio guide from the Information Centre in Yulara. It is very easy to use and gives lots of interesting information about Uluru and Kata Tjuta as you drive to and from the sites. The audio is activated automatically as a site is approached while driving or walking, and greatly enhances the experience. Also loved the music included!

Best ever

I was hesitant about hiring this product but decided to give it a go and WOW it was amazing as we walked around Uluru and the music on the way home was great. I did not want to go on a tour but doing it at my own pace and how informative it was made me feel like I was on a tour.highly recommend it!

A must if you are self driving Uluru

Would recommend getting an audio guide if you are self driving around Uluru and Kata Tjuta. They are very easy to use and have lots of interesting information on them. Very easy to book and very helpful staff

Uluru at your own pace

The GPS based system enabled us to walk around the base of Uluru at our own pace while providing excellent commentary on the Rock, vegetation and the Indigenous history.

Good info provided- helps understand

God info about explorers and geology adds to the aboriginal stories. The aboriginal stories are also on the signage. The audio also gives background of the narrators. I guess the train for no extra stories is what indigenous people are willing to share versus what stays in the family

A fantastic alternative to a tour.

The audio guide was excellent, wonderfully presented, really informative and very easy to use. It includes a wealth of indigenous cultural information and use of the Anangu language, as well as more recent history, information on the area’s geology, flora and fauna. It also provides assistance with navigation which is very helpful. We were really disappointed when our guided walk was cancelled but the audio guide was an even better alternative, allowing us to do the tour at our own pace and without a crowd. It’s a great service.

Absolutely brilliant

We wanted to explore Uluru and Kata Tjuta independently but didn’t want to miss out on stories and information that we would have heard if going on a guided tour. The audio guide was wonderful. Fully GPS integrated, it would automatically start up when passing a predetermined point and provide wonderful insights into the flora, fauna, landscape and indigenous culture and stories relevant to the area. Even giving directions at crossroads. Would definitely recommend the guide to anyone wanting to independently explore.

Learn some great history

The audio guide really enhanced our walks around Uluru. As a long term local I was impressed with how much ancient and more modern history is mixed with narrative and even songs. It’s a truly engaging guide, the content was accessible for both our kids (7 and 9) and adults. Highly recommended.

Fun. Informative. So much to learn!

We absolutely loved this! With the closure of the Cultural Centre we were without the usual raft of information. We had already done our Base Walk when we stumbled across the Audio Guide bit went with it anyway. Fabulous commentary in the car and walking around the park that changed based on direction of travel We learned so much. Dare I say, this is a great way to travel in the COVID-19 era. Self contained, self guiding, and ability to physical distance from others at signage (not that there were crowds)

Audio Tour greatly enhanced the experience of Uluru and Kata Tjuta

I was given an audio guide when I booked the family on the Segway tour and thoroughly enjoyed it as we drove and walked around Kata Tjuta anda Uluru. The commentary is comprehensive, informative and kicks in as you hit certain gps points along your journey. Clever enough not to repeat itself on the return trip. As a family of four we used it without headphones and could easily hear it whilst walking as a group of four or thru car speakers. Plenty of gaps in commentary for conversation and the wonderful sound of silence. I would recommend it to anyone. We felt it greatly enhanced the walks and drives!

Definitely hire the Uluru Audio Guide

The Uluru Audio Guide is fabulous. The people involved have really created a beautiful experience that provides a deeper understanding of where you are, the cultural significance of Uluru and some of the many stories that have been part of the place for millennia and more recently. It includes spoken word by informed guides and local indigenous people and music that lifts your spirits. Do yourself a favour and don't miss it.
