Sunrise over Kata Tjuta - worth doing it

It was lovely to see the sunrise over Kata Tjuta from the dunes lookout. Following the breakfast, which was filling and quickly prepared by out guide Hayley, we went on the valley walk with her. She proved to be an excellent guide.

Don’t Use SEIT Local Small Group Tours – the “Small” is for small heart and small processes

Key lesson You can’t rely on a valid ticket issued for a SEIT tour. The tour may be already full and you will still receive a ticket which SEIT will then ignore. This behaviour is like the recent QANTAS Airways scandal when QANTAS engaged in false, misleading and deceptive conduct, by advertising tickets for more than 8,000 flights that it had already cancelled but not removed from sale. My experience I booked a month in advance the SEIT Kata Tjuta Small Group Tour at Uluru and received a valid ticket. I relied on my valid ticket and incurred costs to stay overnight at the Desert Gardens Hotel in anticipation of the tour starting at 5.45am the next morning. SEIT did not honour the ticket. I was left waiting at Desert Gardens reception for 60 minutes after getting up at 4.30am. Small processes You are much better going with one of the big tour groups like AAT Kings that have more robust processes. Process failures by SEIT: 1.When my tour didn’t arrive at 5.45am the Desert gardens reception didn’t have an out of hours contact number for SEIT. The office at Uluru doesn’t open until 9am. 2.In the lead up to my tour I tried to contact SEIT twice – a month before the tour (no response) and the day before the tour (only responded after the tour). So having a valid ticket and proactively contacting SEIT beforehand is still no guarantee they will turn up. 3. As mentioned above, I was issued a valid ticket for a tour that was already full. Small heart I had to wait until 9am on the day for the SEIT Offices to open. By that stage the tour had already been underway for 3 hours (the tour finished at 10.45am). Their approach to my complaint seemed a ‘legal liability’ approach rather than a person centric approach. They offered at 9.30am to rush me out to Kata Tjuta eventhough that would have resulted in approximately 1.5 hours travel time (it’s about 40 minutes one way to Kata Tjuta from the resort). I would have literally stood at Kata Tjuta for 5 minutes before having to return to catch my plane. But for them that probably meant they could have claimed they had no need to give me a refund! I declined their offer to drive to Kata Tjuta. So far I have not received a refund or any offer of compensation for the day I lost relying on a valid ticket. Responses to this post Be wary about any responses to this review. This is a truthful account of my experience. Responses may be from people with a vested interest – SEIT employees etc. I have never complained about anything in my life and feel reluctant to do so. Yet SEIT’s conduct was so poor I feel compelled to warn others.

Excellent small group tours

Actually did 2 tours with this company, this sunrise tour plus evening sunset tour of Ulara. Both were very good with knowledgeable and experienced guides. Would highly recommend this company for their small group tours vs. large bus tours.

The hike to the Kata...

The hike to the Kata Tjuta is marvelous. We enjoy it very much. It would be much better if the food for breakfast could be improved a bit.

Typical tourist tour, great views

Very scenic sunrise, a bit too "herded" for my liking, with many groups vying for best position on the, way too small, tourist sunrise lookout platform. Nice breakfast, walk n talk about Kata Tjuta. Overall an effortless tourist trip/trap with spectacular views.

Wonderful Sunrise breakfast and walk

The sunrise was gorgeous as it came up beside Uluru and then reflected beautifully on Kata Tjuta. We enjoyed a good breakfast of Muesli, cups of fruit, toasted English muffins and raisin bread. There was tea, coffee and hot chocolate, as well as juice to drink. The guides were informative and friendly. They added personal stories to make the information that much more interesting. This was a fabulous way to spend a morning in Yulara!

Hayley, the best tour guide in Palya.

The tour was excellent only because Hayley our tour guide made it so. Excellent knowledge of the area and its history, a great education. The Walpa Gorge was spectacular, the sunrise awesome and a good breakfast . Would definitely recommend this tour and the tour company.

Great sunrise and easy morning hike

Caught sunrise at Kata Tjuṯa. Tour was well organized and informative. Ben, our tour leader for this trip with SEIT was full of information about the land and the history of Kata Tjuṯa. Hike to the gorge was easy with a slight incline.

Sunrise at Uluru - not to be missed

This is worth getting up early for. Michael was our primary guide. Marianna was a novice - we were her 1st group after orientation. They make a fabulous team. They picked us up so need for a rental car. Kata Tjuta is within the National Park along with Uluru. Michael & Marianna explained the geology and geography of the place. We came to understand the cultural & spiritual significance of these rock formations. The sunrise over Uluru was spectacular. We had a delicious breakfast before heading out for a hike to Wolpa Gorge. Get your walking sticks & head out for a great hike & an outstanding morning.

Seit Kata Tjuta Sunrise: Great experience

My wife and I have done the Seit Kata Tjuta Sunrise at Ayers Rock resort with the driver guide Ben and a young New Zealander girl who have been great, friendly and very interesting. We have really enjoyed their company and how wonderfully they trasmit their knowledge.

Wonderful tour with excellent guide.

We had a lovely trip with our guide Mariana. She was an excellent guide and we saw a wonderful sunrise and had a nice walk near Kata Tjuta. Mariana told us about Kata Tjuta, and it’s history. Then she served us a great breakfast. This tour is a very nice memory for us.

Knowledgeable, friendly guide

It was our guide's first solo tour. She was very knowledgeable did a great job. Itinerary and cost should have adjusted to eliminate breakfast. February is heavy fly season and the flies were too numerous and we couldn't enjoy food. Description of "moderate" walk to Walpa Gorge should state that it is uphill and over rocky, uneven surface. We were lucky to see wild camels, a positive sign for our guide.

Beautiful Sunrise Tour of Kata Tjuta

My husband & I had a wonderful time on the Kata Tjuta sunrise tour. Our tour guide Hayley was very knowledgeable and friendly! She even showed us how much vegemite to put on our toast. The sunrise and walk through the Walpa Gorge was beautiful. We highly recommend!

My wife and I really enjoyed this sunrise, breakfast and trail tour. It was a small group led by an amazing tour guide - Ben. Our tour guide Ben was incredibly knowledgeable and shared that knowledge in an easy to understand and absorbing manner. We were very well looked after and safely driven around the various viewpoints and trails. If you want an enjoyable experience book this one and hope that you get someone like Ben.

Sunrise

The sunrise was absolut stunning. To watch the change of the colours. Also the short walk was great and Hailey (I hope the name is correct) did a good job

Fantastic trip very well hosted by Ben

My wife and I really enjoyed this guided tour, and the early start was well worth it. The views of Kata Tjuṯa as the sun rose were amazing. Our guide was Ben, who was friendly and knowledgeable. He also served us up a great continental style breakfast in the outback, before our trek into The Walpa Gorge. A nice aspect of being in a small group was that we could get to chat with everyone else in the party, and share a little of our travels around Australia. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

Relaxing

Very nice and relaxing tour. Not physically demanding. Very well organized. Great views in the morning. A short walk of 2km.

Enjoyable tour of this mysterious place with a very knowledgeable & friendly tour guide.

This tour was our first encounter with our Italian tour guide Andreas who loves the indigenous culture & Kata Tjuṯa and supplies the group with what seems like endless interesting knowledge. His career experience as a tour guide shown through & he loves to learn more about the culture & the land to enable him to enhance the tour. The walks on the tour weren’t always flat & smooth however he was great in keeping the group together & assisting my wife with some of the more difficult & steep terrain. The sunrise tours (with a delicious breakfast) are a great idea in the Aussie summer, so you can finish them before it gets too hot which was ideal with a young family. I highly recommend this tour for all & it was a great introduction to the area & the culture.

A highly recommended tour

The tour was amazing. Our tour guide Ben was pleasant, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and service minded. Ben told us a lot about plants, animals, geological formation of the sites in Uluru etc. Besides, we enjoyed being with a small group rather than a full bus load.

Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa National Park

We arranged a last minute private tour for our family of 7 - Pete was extremely knowledgeable, passionate and went above and beyond to accomodate our family when there bookings were full. James arranged a pickup from our hotel and we got to see more than we imagined and came away full of inspiration and a new found respect for this amazing part of Australia and the Aṉangu culture. Haley Rocks

Haley made all the difference! She was a great guide providing informative background on the cultural and historical significance of what we were seeing while baking in lots of humor along the way (particularly welcome since she picked us up at 4:45 am to be out in time for sunrise). She whipped up a nice breakfast and introduced us to Vegemite (no thanks).

Beautiful Morning Tour

Very good tour with nice views of Kata Tjuta and Uluru in the distance. Connie our guide was great! Our tour included a hike thru Walpa Gorge which has some interesting geology and then breakfast. First time we tasted vegemite. Pick up was early. It was fun to me to drive thru the outback in the pure darkness of early morning. We had some nice views of the sunrise but it was a cloudy day so colors were kind of muted. Be advised that you need to purchase a national park permit which is not included in the tour. You can do this online. Overall a very pleasant morning.

Hop on/off to Kata Tjuṯa

Not as spectacular as Ayres Rock but worth a visit as it looks like something out if a sci-fi movie. Use the Hop on Hop off bus - easy!

Must Do

Had a lovely morning viewing the sunset, then Shae, our guide, who was excellent, provided us with great conversation and breakfast. We also did a guided walk through Walpa Gorge. Great experience.

Marvelous tour!!

Just a totally wonderful experience! Chappie was great. He gave us the complete picture of Kata Tjuta, of how it came to be geologically, of what Kata Tjuta and the surrounding soil was made of. He also could describe the plants in the area. Of course, he also told us about the cultural side of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, about the importance of it to the Anangu people. He also told us some interesting stories. He was a complete package. And, you know what, he still managed to heat up raisin breads for breakfast! It did help that out group was small. Kata Tjuta itself was just magnificent. I totally recommend this tour!

Amazing view ,a very knowledgable guide enjoyed the experience ! Breakfast a bit of a disappointment only cereals and bread ! Yogurt or some fruit would have been nice.

The colours of Kata Tjuta...

The colours of Kata Tjuta are amazing. We lay down on the seats at the furtherest part of the walk to look at the sky and see the shape of the Egyptian eye created by the rim of the cliffs of Kata Tjuta. We had a yummy breakfast at the Rest area before we went on the walk. Fantastic half day tour💜

Monumental humbling amazing

Amazing visit. The tour guide (Matt) was friendly, informative, respectful of the local First Nations people, made a lovely welcoming brekky before we set off to walk through Walpa Gorge. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience of Kata Tjuṯa. Don’t miss it

Our tour guide Andre was fantastic, as were the sights. It was the perfect combination of explanation, walking, and just looking at the awesome beauty around us. The way Andre explained the geological history of Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa was the clearest from our entire time in Uluru. We walked a trail into Kata Tjuṯa to a beautiful pool of water, and also learned some about Bush Tucker. He connected with each of the guests on the tour and helped us connect with each other. Breakfast was wonderful too. Great experience!

Tour of Kata Tjuta

We were lucky enough to be the only group on this tour with Rodriguez so it felt like a personal tour. He was very knowledgable and friendly. The sunset over Kata Tjuta was very impressive. Breakfast was enjoyable. Our walk through the gorge with Rodriguez's commentary was very informative and interesting. We really enjoyed this tour.

A beautiful was to spend sunrise

Had a fantastic morning. Mel was very knowledgable and helpful through the experience. Kata Tjuṯa was stunning and the walk into gorge was beautiful.

An experience that fulfilled expectations

A beautiful view of Kata Tjuṯa and Uluṟu with the sun kissing it as it rose up into the sky. The Guide 'Mon was lovely and so knowledgeable. The Gorge was a lovely surprise and made us to want to see more. So we booked into the Valley Of Winds

A wonderful experience

This is the way to see Kata Tjuṯa NP. We had 11 people plus our guide Andrea. We instantly became friends and had many connections. One couple even lives 40 min away from us in New York. Andrea provided a welcoming environment and it helped to make the day more enjoyable. The picnic breakfast was really special. The location was beautiful and made for a gorgeous backdrop for photos and conversation. We all tried vegemite for the first time (and hated it). The walk to Walpa Gorge was moderate but easy because we took a slow pace. When we got back to town square we immediately went to the SEIT desk with another couple to ask about booking the sunset tour to Uluru. Unfortunately it was all booked and we had to join the big bus coach with a different tour company. Simply not the same as the small group with SEIT.

A lot of fun, and a great way to see the rock.

The guide, Michael, was a kind, warm and knowledgeable person and the trip was a great introduction to the area and an opportunity to see one of the country's most beautiful and awe inspiring spots. I would have liked a little more time to enjoy the Kata Tjuta but overall it was a great morning.

The sunrise from the...

The sunrise from the viewing area at the ancient sand dune was a wonderful experience. Both Uluṟu and Kata Tjuṯa were clearly viewed and both pre dawn and true dawn were truly beautiful. Our guide (Jess) was really informative and fun. Jess made both breakfast and the walk really special.

Awesome experience

A great way to explore Kata Tjuṯa especially Walpa Gorge . Being in a small group made it so much more personal especially at the shared breakfast time . Andrea our guide was amazing, so knowledgeable and respectful of the indigenous culture. The sunrise views were awesome but bring your winter woolies as it is very cold. Walpa Gorge was awesome with the landscape and changing colours. Rug up well as the windchill through the Gorge made for chilly conditions.

Loved this one… especially our guides

We just had an amazing tour made even more special due to our hosts Sylvia and Mon. Both of them were engaging, informative, funny and truely loved what they were doing. We had already visited a part of the tour BUT we learnt so much more from the staff. Well worth the experience and the money… especially if you get Sylvia & Mon!

Sunrise and walking along...

Sunrise and walking along the gorge were great. Tour was a bit too rush and too short for the price paid. Tour guide was great but overall I will not recommend this tour and guide others towards either doing it on their own or booking different tour.

Great tours for a short trip to Uluru.

We went on the afternoon/sunset tour and the sunrise tour. Both were amazing and we enjoyed Jess, our guide and her knowledge of the area and people.

Kara Tjuta Sunrise

Excellent sunrise tour. Watching the sunrise from one of the viewing platforms was beautiful and we could see both Uluru and Kara Tjuta. The walk through Waḻpa Gorge was Rocky but easy and only about 2k. A great intro to our trip. Some really cool information shared about how Kara Tjuta got its name, the geology of the rock and some Aṉangu cultural information, but I don’t think it’s necessary to go with a tour for this one.

Kata Tjuta Sunrise and Walpa Gorge Walk

What a beautiful morning watching the sunrise from Uluru hitting Kata Tjuta with a small group of fun people. We enjoyed breakfast together then walked in the windy gorge! Our driver and guide Sylvia was THE BEST! Such a funny, informative, kind, helpful, caring young woman - it was the greatest adventure!

Beautiful sunrise and great guide. Short hike was windy (seasons are changing here in April /May), and a little rocky, but not too long
