Tough experience but brilliant driver!

Our driver Niko was amazing! He picked us up and consistently made us smile all the way to the mountain- it was such a great way to kick things off and we were so happy to see him at the end of the tour dropping us back to our hotel. The views were spectacular at the top but just bear in mind that it's a tough hike (eg. 40% of the people we walked up with did not finish it) and in total it took us 12 hours to go up and come down from the mountain (with coming down surprisingly taking a lot longer)! You're going to have to be quite fit and very dedicated to do this- if not, go to smaller mountains like Mt Batur.

The whole experience was very well organised. The driver arrived on time and was waiting for us even when we finished the hike early. The transport was comfortable and well air conditioned in the Bali heat. The hike itself was stunning and aid thoroughly recommend it to anyone outdoor enthusiasts visiting Bali!

Wonderful experience, the driver Ketut Bude was prompt and picked me in time from hotel, he was very safe driver and than trek started around 11:30 pm my guide was so nice that he took care that I follow all safety while climbing as it was raining all the way till top and he kept explaining when I must use hiking poles and when hand as last bit with rock you have to use hand. Trek hike up is around 8.5 km and with slow pace it will take 6 hrs hike. Thanks to my guide for his guidance all the way up and down back to start point

Breathtaking sunrise experience

Had the best adventure on this trek despite unideal conditions on the way back down. My guide, Kadek, was super patient with me when my legs decided to just not work and I pretty much slid down half the mountain on our descent. He was diligent in asking if I was feeling alright/in any pain, was in need of breaks/water, and even bandaged one of my little “Agung kisses.” We laughed about my clumsiness the entire way. Plus the small bonfire and coffee he made for us shortly before reaching the peak was the perfect way to recharge and warm up before taking in the most amazing sunrise of my life! Additionally, my driver Agung was communicative and punctual, as well as very warm and accommodating. The journey from my accommodation to base camp was quick and easy, and I was incredibly thankful knowing I had a clean car waiting at the bottom to take me back after.

Wonderful views on Mount Agung

A great hike which starts early during the night. The track is very steep and the views are worth it. Do not hesitate to start later if you don't want to do a 2h break waiting for the sunrise. The organization with both taxi and guide went very well. I highly recommend it.

Great trip overall, supported by easy transport to and from the hotel and a very attentive and safety conscious guide. I found the climb challenging on the way up but well worth it once reaching the summit. A very memorable experience. The walk back down was easier, be sure to take good hiking shoes with plenty of grip.

It was a well organised tour, even with a late booking. Starting from the driver, Putu, who was professional, attentive and knowledgeable; he called beforehand to make sure I knew what to bring, and arrived early for pick up. My guide, Dira was also very helpful and looked after me very well for the hike itself to ensure I had a good experience. Overall excellent and would recommend!

All the struggle is worth when you see the stunning view

Niko was my driver. He picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel. He’s very talkative 😀 I enjoyed the trip with him. Kdek was my tour guide for the mountain. He’s very Jung but in a very good shape. We climbed to the top of the mount in ca. 4h and it took us 2:45h to get down. We didn’t talk much since we were hiking and climbing but when we got the chance it was always a pleasure to talk to him. Regarding the trip, the pictures speaks for themself I guess. Overall it was a great trip from the start at my hotel then we hiked and climbed and in the end I was dropped off at my hotel. I would recommend it but it can be very challenging the trip. You’re supposed to be in a good shape. Best wishes Peter

Great challenge for testing your physical skills and fitness

Best hard core experience! You have to be fit and have the proper equipment. The tour guides are nice local people but don’t try to race with them, you’re not going to win! Highly recommend it!

Nice experience if you like hiking! You have to be prepared because it's tough, but it's worth it, especially if you're lucky to have good weather! Very friendly and punctual driver! The guide is excellent!

Fantastic guide, fantastic experience

Our guide igede was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable of the trail, knew exactly what he was doing. One of my friends got injured on the way back down with an overuse injury in their knee, helped them every step on the way back down! No complaints whatsoever. Great guy, great experience to climb this beautiful mountain. Make sure you’re fit and well prepared to do this one. 12 hours trekking isn’t for people who don’t exercise

hello everyone Gede is my driver and i am so appreciative of his service. He is a kind and very good person. And he provided an excellent service to us.Thanks so much. But I have a very bad experience with the hiking guide services. Basically, my hiking guide just keep talking with each other all the time, and he always take a long rest for their coffee time. That's why other participants can't catch up to enjoy the sunrise on time excepted me. when I went down from the mountain, my hiking guide just keep playing his cell phone game "candy crush" and left me behind or ask me walk in front by myself even I keep falling down cause the wet glass floor on the mountain. I think it's very dangerous that the hiking guide treats the participant like this very bad service and look like never care my safety. I will try to share this experience in my blog, intergram, Facebook, and Twitter at all. And I hope your company will take it seriously and manage the hiking guide better on the next time. Thank you

The long way to the summit of Mount agung

Appreciation to the tour guide to bring us until the top. They do this multiple times a week so respect for that. I felt though that there was no great and motivating vibe from the guides, probably because they are tired and it's understandable. We had some breaks throughout going up which was very good but it would be nice if the guides would generally communicate a bit more with the group and say things like how long the break is going to be, how long from that point to the top and so on. All those things would make the whole experience more motivational and clear. Not much interaction with the group. If this could improve it would become a better trip. It's was an average experience.

The guide Darta was really good! Professional, in great physical health, calm and caring. I can recommend this to anyone who is in good health and looking for a bit of an ultra experience.

Great company to live this experience with!

I had a pleasure to be guided by Darta and my driver was Gusti. Both of them were amazing! I’m a solo female traveler and was feeling extremely safe and supported at every point of the way, ascent and descent (that was tricky through Pasar Agung route). They also explained me a lot about traditions of local community, gladly answered to all my questions. I undoubtedly recommend them for Mount Agung trekking tours. Absolutely enjoyable experience!

It was a tough journey not for the faint-hearted to climb Mt Agung. Driver was very on time for the pick-up to the foot of Agung, and also waited patiently for my return. The guide was very experienced to ensure my safety to the summit. I was so exhausted that he helped to carry my bag after my speed really slowed down a lot. Ultimately Im glad I made the journey with this agency who provided me with all the relevant information and answering so of my questions before I flew over to Bali. A sunrise to remember

We had an amazing private tour up Mt Batur. Unfortunately Mt Agung was closed for a special ceremony. But this local company quickly rearranged the hike for us. I was worried Mt Batur would be too crowded, but actually our guide knew just where to go to stay away from the busy parts of the mountain. This was such a memorable way to start our tour of Indonesia. Everything was also well organised and communication was excellent. Highly recommend!

Get in shape for Agung trek

It was a very good trekking with breathtaking views! It's quite strenuous so you'd better are fit if you want to make it to the top. With Gusto as your guide you will be very well taken care of!

The hike itself was...

The hike itself was stunning - the tour… a joke! The guide did not engage with us at all, and we were walked up there too quickly so we had to wait below the summit for 2 hours in the cold so we didn’t miss sunrise! There was no information about the mountain or the area given, I was expecting a lot more from the “guide”. Unsure where my money went

This was an adventure of a life time. Gusti my driver transported me safely to the base of The mountain. He was polite and we had some in-depth conversations. The hike was extremely tough but so worth it if you have the fitness and climbing ability. Would highly recommend.

A great experience you will be proud of

An amazing experience ! You should be ready: it’s difficult, at least it was for us. The hiking started at 1:15 am de Pura Pasar and we finished it at 9:45 am. The sunrise is magic and it’s worth our efforts. Special thanks to our guide (Mari) and our driver (Gusti), both were amazing and super nice. Good hiking boots and appropriate clothes are necessary.

Hard, dangerous but beautiful hike

Very hard trip, a lot of climbing and dangerous roads but the view and the experience were definitely worth it!

Fantastic mountain views and driver and guide

My driver, pak Ngakan Parta, was a fantastic and lovely human being who lend me his jacket and was so kind and inviting. Dia orang yang baik dan penuh andalan, and it was a great journey to the mountain. My guide, Wayan, was also very impressive. Overall a lovely time made better with lovely people!

Responsible organization

The team organized hiking very well. We arrived to the top in 7 hours at the start of sunrise, amazing view. Took good photos/videos and came back down in 6 hours.

Sunrise climb

We picked the medium route which started at 2am and was a 4 hour hike. Definitely need to have a reasonable level of fitness as it's extremely difficult and the final part is a 1 hour free rock climb. The stars are beautiful!! Our tour guide lit a fire for us and provided breakfast as the sun was rising. Great views and gorgeous photos. So much easier climbing back down as that took 2 hours.

Pick-up was perfect trip was hard for a beginner

Great pick-up. Right on time. The climb was very hard but we manage to get up to 2500 meters. Guide did know the route easily so we were going with high pace.

Amazing Experience

Our adventure started at 12am where driver Gusti was promptly waiting for us. Gusti was so kind and sweet and we created a very good connection with him. Highly recommend Gusti for any driving needs when in Bali. We started hike around 2am and returned back at 9:45am. This was an extremely difficult hike (steep uphill the whole way for about 3 1/2 hours till the top). The views were worth it and had spectacular sunrise above the clouds. Going down was the best leg work out ive ever had and still sore days later :) All in all , if you enjoy to hike, it is worth it and is amazing to say you summit biggest volcano in Bali.

Just do it - you won’t regret it

Unreal experience - but firstly I feel I need to give a bit of context. Initially reading reviews I was somewhat scared about taking this on, everyone was saying how horrendously hard it was and I wasn’t sure if I could finish it. So to give some perspective, I’m relatively fit and can finish a marathon in about 4hrs. I really didn’t find the hike that challenging. My wife and I made it to the top in around 4hrs of walking, with plenty of breaks along the way. A few other hikers that were with us that just have general fitness all made it to the top too. A little bit slower and it was harder for them, but it is very do-able if you don’t mind a bit of discomfort. I hope this helps people with a decent level of fitness who are questioning whether they can do it. Next onto the tour company - fantastic! Picked up by the most welcoming driver, very chatty and filling us with all the local knowledge. Any gaps in his English and he’s just used google translate and continued! As for our guide up the mountain, an absolute mountain goat. It is loose underfoot coming down (don’t do it in road trainers) and he helped guide us down safely. He was super patient with us when we were slipping a sliding. Great company and our favourite experience on Bali

A great challenge and an overwhelming experience

A great over night trip to Bali's highest and holiest volcano. Absolutely worth to visit. However, only recommended to hiking experts and very sportive people. Don't forget a warm jacket! They guides were great, always supportive and patient. Absolutely recommendable.

Amazing Experience

Amazing Experience The driver was very punctual and patient. He arrived at our hotel 20min early, and waited for us with free drinks after we descended the mountain even though we were late by over an hour. He was very accommodating and helpful, and we even hired him as a driver for the rest of our stay in Bali. He provided many recommendations for affordable but safe places to visit and eat, including a secret waterfall. Our two guides were also very proactive and accommodating. They provided us with water and breakfast to consume along the trek, and were very willing to guide us through obstacles and act as our photographers at the summit. They also rendered immediate medical aid to my friend who fell off the trail during the hike and experienced severe muscle cramps. Even though we were (very) amateur mountain climbers, our driver and guides made this an extremely rewarding and safe experience. The ascent and descent were certainly tough, but the views and breakfast at the summit was without a doubt worth it.

Very great experience! Hard trek but very nice to see the sunset at the End :) Negative Point: Trash Problem… If you see when the guides are throwing empty Bottles away at the top of the Vulcano… The population in Bali has to be more sensitive for this Problem!

Never got picked up :(

Unfortunately I can not comment on this tour, as we never got picked up. Yes I have been refuned and yes the tour guide was very apologetic. However this was our only opportunity to have this experience and could not reschedule, due to time. Very disappointed. Lots of messages sent and minimal communication. Heart broken to miss this.

Best trek I’ve ever done

If you’re looking for a top notch tour guide to take you up Mt Agung, choose sunrise trekking. They were amazing. On time pick up from our hotel. The guide brought plenty of food and water (too much, we couldn’t get through it all!). The guide also carried my friend’s bag when she hurt her knee & he supported me during my near meltdown at the top of the volcano (due to my fear of heights). Don’t be scared by my above comment, I highly recommend this tour. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it’s one of the most challenging & rewarding things I’ve done. You will not regret it. Just make sure you bring the right foot ware (grippy & light weight), and warm clothes for the midnight stop near the top (while you wait for sunrise). I recommend thermals & jackets.

Tough, memorable, amazing

Was a challenging but unreal activity. The view of Bali on day break is like nothing else. The night time start helps alot with the heat and the morning awe. The guides are experienced and local, great insight to local life! The guides really manage the walk excellently they ensure rest and control the pace to ensure arrival just before sunrise. We made good time and had a chance to nap 3/4 of the way up where it was still warm. The guides did this so we weren't sitting on the top freezing for an hour.

Mount Agung climb with Darta

This was a special experience. Did the short route vía Pasar Agung. Definitely nice to have a guide to take you through the jungle and up the steep rocky face at the top. Our guide Darta was great. He was very kind and set a great pace for us to follow. Stopped when we needed to and pushed forward when we wanted. The pay off of the crater and sunrise at the top is definitely worth it.

Difficult but rewarding

Difficult, challenging hike for sure, worth it once you get to the top. Our guide was patient and kept a good pace going up and really took his time getting down. He was constantly checking on me and there were parts where I was really struggling so he helped by holding my hand for balance, he also gave me his gloves (bless him) because I was using my hands a lot going down. Please wear proper shoes! And bring thermals, there were people going up there in sneakers and a hoodie, it is freezinggggg and there's parts where you're rock-climbing so appropriate footwear is highly recommended. Also I would 100% get a guide, I do not recommend doing this hike on your own, there is not a clear path to the summit.
