Private Full-Day Guided Tour of Tijuana

What a great day!

Denisse was a fantastic guide. Tacos, tequila, tacos, mezcal, shops, beer, more tacos. What a great day! We visited the Hotel Caesar for Caesar Salad and a tiny bar hidden in a market. We visited the border wall at the beach, saw the old bullfighting ring and the cathedral. My wife bought jewellery, apple tequila, and vanilla essence. A great full day, 7 hours of unhurried fun. One word of caution-walking back over the border took us nearly an hour (4pm Thursday).

Food and Location Tour

Our tour guide was Arturo. He was great! He told us where we were going before we started driving made sure he was communicating clearly in English and in Spanish. He knew the history of every place we went to. We ate at some local spots that were delicious. First, we had birria, then tamales, then steam tacos. He knew the spots. We felt safe at all times and definitely recommend the tour and Arturo!

First time exploring Tijuana

Denisse was our guide and she was thoughtful, personable and informative. Even though we live in San Diego, we had never really explored Tijuana. We saw a wide variety of sites and learned a little about the history of the city. This was our grandson's first trip out of the country, and so we really appreciated Denisse's care in making sure it was a good experience for all of us. He especially liked the food.

Great experience

Denisse was very pleasant and professional! She reached out the day before the tour with instructions to meet and to answer any questions or concerns, which I appreciated. Throughout the tour she talked about the history of Tijuana, background information and was personable. The meet up spot was also easy to find. The restaurants and places she took us to were 10/10. Some places were closed due to it being a Monday, but she added her personal touch so it was enjoyable either way. Definitely would recommend this tour!

¡Un día maravilloso!

This was our second visit to Tijuana with Baja Tours. Our guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see and experience so many things, but here are our favorites: Best breakfast: Tacos de birria at a place you would never find by yourself Best lunch / dinner: Caesars during their 100th anniversary. See if you can visit near the end of the tour for an early dinner for the full effect. Best place to see: El Museo de la Lucha Libre. Filled with true sentiment and tradition. Say hello to Zaurel León the manager, and he will share many extra things with you. Best excitement: Mescal shots from a bottle with a rattlesnake. Also, great mariachi at the bar. Most meaningful: The border wall along the beach, with wonderful murals and locally-tended gardens. Enjoy! ¡Que disfrutas!

Great experience!

Denisse was such a valuable tour guide! She made traveling around the city very easy and explained everything we wanted to know. Took us to great traditional food places! Fantastic tequila tastings and a grasp on the culture. Fantastic day out, couldn’t imagine doing it without Denisse!

A great day in TJ!

Our family of 5 took a day from our week in San Diego to go to TJ and this private tour was the way to go! Van was comfortable and Denisse was a generous and patient guide. We could never have seen the sites and covered the ground on our own in one day. Denisse knew all the best spots to visit and just as important, where to park! We had a great time eating, drinking, and shopping! She tailored to our interests. Highly recommend this group! The pedestrian crossing (Ped East) at the border (especially returning to US) can be intimidating and a bit confusing for first timers but so much quicker than trying to drive across. Be patient! The parking area on the US side recommended by the tour group was great location and very reasonable. Wear good walking shoes, you will get your steps in!

Terrific Time in Tijuana

I had been to Tijuana a half dozen times but never really experienced the city until I went with a local guide from Baja Rides and Tours. Denisse was wonderful, informative and a joy to be with. My son and I spent the day with her visiting the wall, beach markets, stadium, Caesers Hotel, and many etceteras. We had a really great day trip there from San Diego

Educational and fun

I had the best one on one tour of Tijuana. Seeing the city and all the sites was amazing! Tacos and cerveza too!

Excellent Tour

Our guide was excellent and he spoke perfect English. I have a difficult time understanding accents, but there was no problem here at all. Tijuana is a huge, bustling city and you wouldn't want to do this tour on your own. I found the description of the tour to be a little misleading. It says you need $35.00 for food, drinks, tacos and souvenirs. Snacks, breakfast and lunch are not included in the price of the tour. One would think that means we are on our own for meals, but in reality we were rather pressured into eating at certain locations pre-selected by the tour company. There were two taco stops (I refused one) and a very good lunch (not til 2:00 pm) in an upscale, but reasonably priced restaurant. The stated $35.00 per person that we would need is not realistic for three eating venues. Also, the ad says that bottled water is included in the tour, but it was not. Not a big deal, we did not need any, but it shouldn't say that. I guess the most interesting thing was "Trump's Wall." It exists in Tijuana and actually runs right into the ocean. Overall it was a very educational and enjoyable tour.

Fantastic one day trip to Tijuana!

We love breakfast at Birria Si. Our guide Arturo was wonderful. He spoke great English and he showed us around TJ (Tijuana) to places we may never have gone. We felt safe walking through the city and the people were friendly and welcoming. Arturo gave us some history lessons about TJ. He was very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our one day trip to Tijuana. The weather was perfect. My husband and I highly recommend this tour. 👍🏼

The best way to see and experience Tijuana for the first time

We had a great time with Arturo as our guide. Baja Rides and Tours helped coordinate with us ahead of time as to where to meet (walked across the border at San Ysidro East) and expectations for the day trip. Arturo met us at a convenient location and picked us up on time. We set off for a full day exploring a wide variety of Tijuana locations and were comfortable throughout with a nice vehicle, manageable walking, and regular stops to taste the best-of-Tijuana food. Our group of four was looking for history, culture, and food. Arturo helped organize the day around our interests and was very flexible about any adjustments that came up. He is great for the tour, being a life-long resident, and we really enjoyed learning about Tijuana with him. His selection of food stops were all great, simple local dishes and very tasty. All around a wonderful experience and we will definitely recommend this tour and Arturo to anyone visiting Tijuana.

Amazing Tijunna tour and guide

We arrived early and our guide Arturo came and pick us upon knowing that. It was a great tour having someone who was born and grew up in Tijunna to share their city with you and all the stories that surrounded it. The city itself was lovely and historic, not to mentioned the tacos that we had . What an amazing experience.

Great city tour

We had an amazing time. The activities and food was amazing. Joe was great to talk to you and he watched out for us. He was flexible when we needed a few changes to the itinerary. We would work with the again.

Joe is Awesome

Tijuana was quite intimidating for the uninitiated. This was our family’s first foray into Mexico, and figured a guide was in order. Our guide was Joe and he intimately knew Tijuana. Anything that piques your interest, he’ll get you there in style. We were interested in tacos, and Joe did not disappoint. Joe knew all the spots and the food was unbelievable. He took us to Caesars and we got their world-famous salad with the dressing made table-side. What made the excursion exceptional was our guide. Joe has a great personality and shared his Mexican culture in a fun and informative way. We really enjoyed our time and look forward to visiting Mexico again.

Amazing

First Arturo was the best tour guide my wife and I have ever had. If you’re looking for a detailed tour guide and take your time and not feel rushed then this is the way to go. We went all over Tijuana not just the tourists traps. Arturo was full with information and knowledge of the area and places, it helps he lives there and was raised in the area. By far the very best tour of and place we have been to. We will most definitely bring our kids back and using Arturo for our next trip to Tijuana.

We had the most amazing cultural exchange experience with Angel. He was very knowledgeable, kind, easy going and flexible with our interests. Our trip was a great blend of history (past and current), great food, and lots of walking (which we loved). My 9-year old son really like Angel too. They became buddies and bonded over a Mexican toy.

Memorable!!

Eric our tour guide was the ABSOLUTE best!!! He was kind, patient, helpful- …. Wait……I forgot let me start with AIR-CONDITIONED van…. That alone deserves 10 stars. No one in my group wanted to walk in the sun after waiting to get over the border. I had questions before we arrived both him and his partner Chris made sure I understood everything. The tour was awesome!! Take my word- This is the one you want to take…… no need to keep scrolling!😁

Fun Day Trip!

Had a great time with our guide Erick, highly recommend! We crossed the border on foot from San Ysidro and Erick picked us up and took us to eat tacos, visited the beach, walked around downtown Tijuana, drove around the city to see different points of interest and ended our day with a yummy seafood dinner. Erick is so knowledgeable about the city and we had a fun time spending the day with him. He also customized the tour based on what we wanted to see and what we like to eat. He wanted to make sure that we got the most out of our experience and recommended that we start a little later so as to avoid long lines when crossing. Thanks Erick!

Fun Tour of TJ

Took some friends to TJ for the first time and this tour was the perfect introduction to the city. Our guide Arturo, who was friendly, informative, and spoke good English, picked us up two blocks from the pedestrian border crossing. After getting tacos for breakfast we went to Friendship Park along the border and explored the boardwalk. Later, we drove to Revolution Avenue, a main tourist spot in the city. Highlights included the zonkey pic, Popo Market, lucha libre museum, and Hotel Caesar, where the original caesar salad was invented. Overall, everyone had a great time, saw some new things, and got to eat delicious food. Excellent price and I would book again.

We like the trip!

This tour is very worthy. Arik and Arturo are our tour guides. They showed us the US-mexico wall, beach, and told us the history and stories behind the walls and the doors of the friendship park. The door is much more than just a door after listening to the stores. It represents the sympathy and love of human beings. We walked from the past historical museum of Tijuana, obsolete bullring to the present busy Tijuana downtown. We tasted special Tequila wines which we never had before, street tacos which are simple but yummy, fine foods served in luxury restaurants and all kinds of fresh fruits on the street and never-seen foods in the trade market. Ark and Arturo took lots of pictures with us and we like them! Arik and Arturo are hospitable, responsible, polite and knowledgeable. It was a great tour!

The tour was good, value for money, Angel was a very nice person however his English was not the best so difficult to understand. Had to ask for water.

A must tour to learn about Tijuana. Humberto was a great guide!

My guide was Humberto. I found myself in Tijuana and contacted the company to see if I could mee the guide at a spot in Tijuana since I was already there. No problem. Humberto went beyond by meeting me at the hotel. From there we went to the border crossing to wait for others. In fact it was a family from B.C. Canada, so it was great to have some fellow Canadians on this tour. What a scene that border crossing is! Humberto was an awesome guide! He knows so much and I learned so much about the city, where to eat, some great liquor tasting, etc. I highly recommend this tour. Tijuana gets a bad rap really. It has so much to offer! The next day, was "Hurricane Hillary" so we couldn't revisit some of the places that we wanted to go to to eat shop, etc. It just rained really hard and we just spent time at the hotel waiting for our ride to San Diego. I have a suggestion for the company. Perhaps on their webpage have some indication that if you are already in Tijuana that you are welcomed to contact the company to see how to join the tour as the tour states it starts from San Diego. I mentioned this tour to a few locals and they will recommend this to others.

Great day in Tijuana!

Marco was a very friendly and attentive guide. He was a good driver and got us to all the spots safely and with ease. We stopped 5 different places to eat as well as walk and drive to different spots. Food was excellent and it was a great way to spend a day on our first trip to Mexico!

City Day Tour

Mullme, Caesar’s and CECUT were great. Downtown was good to see the grocer and pharmacy shops of day to day life…but too many touristy stores mixed in. At Playas, we liked one of the beachside drink/snack vendors. Overall we left feeling like we must have missed some cultural spots.

Grew up going to Tijuana so I have been numerous times but never have I been to the places that Joe took us to! He totally showed us a different side of TJ and that was the absolute best part of having a guide. My family and I felt totally safe and well taken care of the entire day and left totally stuffed with amazing tacos and beer from our many stops. Definitely recommend!

Excellent Tour! I totally recommend it! I went with my family, and we were able to learn more about TJ and its culture. Also, we felt safe during the entire trip. Our tour guide was able to pick us up and drop us off right next to the San Ysidro pedestrian crossing, and we crossed the border without any issues.

Great one day tour!

We wanted to visit Tijuana for a day as we were staying in San Diego. We chose this tour as it was a private tour and offered transport to many popular sites. We were very well looked after by our guide Chris who shared his knowledge of the history and sites and was very accommodating to our needs. We enjoyed lots of great food including tacos, Caesar salad and local sweets. We enjoyed a visit to a micro brewery aswell. We saw many iconic sites. Highly recommend if you want to see a lot in a short time. Clear instructions are provided in where to cross the border to the meeting point.

The absolute hanging with a local friend experience

If you are looking for a tour where it feels like a born and raised local friend is showing you around, this is it! Excellent tour with Cristian around Tijuana! They were able to accommodate my group of 8 on very short notice and delivered a customized route based on our group’s interest, on the fly! As somebody that loves interesting facts/history of places, Cristian’s true local knowledge of the area was surely impressive. Hard to tell he was born and raised in Tijuana because his English and communication was perfect. We felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. The tour never felt rushed and we had plenty of time for our leisure. I was already planning my next tour with him before it was over. If I was anywhere near the San Diego area, I will be jumping the border for Cristian to show me some cool place around Tijuana. Book it and you will not be disappointed!

Best day tour in Tijuana!

It was one of the greatest days of our holiday to California, Erik was polite and full of knowledge. We love how he managed the day and tailored the flow exactly how we want it. We experienced everything Tijuana had to offer, tasted the food, saw the monuments and listened to the great history. Punctual and friendly. Highly recommended.

So much to see and do!

So many great places to visit! Eric took us to several great restaurants, including Caesars, and the food was wonderful! But the best of all was the Museo de la Lucha Libre. An amazing museum that records so much of the history of the iconic Mexican approach to wrestling. Be sure to get your photo taken "en el ring!" Overall, Eric showed us so many things about his great city.

Best Way to see Tijuana

We wanted to do a day tour of Tijuana but was hesitant about doing it on our own. I did a little research in the day tour group options and picked Baja Rides and Tours based on the great reviews and reasonable prices based on a private tour format. Our guide Marco took us to so many great places to eat and sight see and shop. He also was very accommodating of what we wanted to do and also flexible with the time. We had a great experience and are hoping to try the Guadalupe Wine Valley Tour next time. Just some tips: The blue line trolley to San Ysidro will take about 45 mins from San Diego, the border walk though took us 20 mins in the morning, and 1hr20 mins on the way back on a Thursday.

This tour is a taste of everything from food to sites and so much fun along the way. Erick was our tour guide and provided easy-to-follow instructions to the pick-up site after we crossed the border. Our guide was very flexible in accommodating food preferences and included specific sites in the tour that we wanted to see. We also learned so much about the history of the sites we saw and Erick was very knowledgeable and answered all the crazy questions we asked. We created so many memories and did things we never thought we'd do on this tour that we wouldn't have experienced on our own. The entire process was smooth from booking to drop off. We highly recommend booking this tour!

Tijuana Day Trip

We had such a nice day in Tijuana. Chris, our guide, made everything easy and taught us so much about the local culture and history! The tacos and margaritas were as good as it gets. Will definitely be using this company again!

We were very impressed with areas of Tijuana that our guide, Joe, showed us. From the sea wall to the little sweet bread shop. He is very knowledgeable with the ins and outs of everyday living here and we enjoyed that.

All day tour of Tijuana and surrounding area

When we (a couple in our 70s) booked this tour, I thought a full day would be a long time to tour Tijuana. I didn’t think there was a lot to see and that we would get tired. I was wrong. The entire day flew by and we never ran out of energy. Parking at the border and crossing into Mexico and back to the US was easy. We followed Marco’s directions (with pictures) and met at the agreed time. We did many things throughout the day - visiting the beach and the wall (with murals), museums, markets, and other cultural things. The most memorable part for me was the eating. We started with delicious tacos birria at a historical restaurant. We met and chatted with the owner. After a few hours, we had a Caesar salad at the historic Hotel Caesar. The service and the food were outstanding. After completing our day of touring, Marco drove us South to a small village for a seafood dinner with lots of music and ocean views.

Rainy day fu

We were visiting San Diego and we had rainy weather. We decided to book this trip, knowing it was a private tour and we'd have a little more flexibility based on the weather. Great decision! Eric drove us around and we ended up doing some wine tastings as well. He answered our questions and provided us with a lot of information about the area. Although it was rainy, we had a great time enjoying the sights and enjoying some food and wine. The birria was fantastic! Highly recommend!!

Best tour for first timers to Tijuana

Excellent tour. Eric was an amazing guide. He customized the tour for us. He took us around some real nice places in downtown, explained a lot of history about Tijuana.

The trip to TIjuana was our long-awaited trip. We considered a few other alternatives on how to explore Tijuana before we decided with Baja Rides & Tour. Surely they did not disappoint- as we had a wonderful time with Erick. He arrived on time at the agreed meeting place- which was at a pharmacy right across the road from Tijuana customs office- although we were a little late as we underestimated the time it took us to get into Tijuana. Erick speaks very fluent English (on top of Spanish, of course) and he put us at ease immediately and throughout our time in TIjuana. We felt safe at all times. From the meeting place, we walked a short distance to get to his car and our first stop was Birria taco shop- which was brilliant. Then after that went to the Border Wall, the giant Mexican Flag, strolled along the Avenida Revolucion from a hotel to the giant arch, to the oldest church in TIjuana, a traditional candy shop, Caesars hotel, then another taco shop and before finally he dropped us back at the border crossing. At all times Erick was very approachable and knowledgeable. He also explained to us about the culture and story behind the food and places we went to. When he did not know the answer to our question, he would search for he answer immediately. He also helped us to communicate with the local when we needed something. And we could enjoy the tour at our own pace (since there was 6 of us- and 6 is the max group number) and he was very accommodating. Although we walked quite a bit (and the crossing back to the US was a horrendous 2.5 hr wait in the cold), we had a very good time in Tjuana and it was largely thanks to Erick and Baja Rides & Tour. I highly recommended this tour and the operator for whoever thinking of coming to TIjuana or Baja California in general. Hopefully we would have the chance to come back here and to explore more.

Wonderful first timer's experience in Tijuana

There words to describe my full-day trip with our tour guide Marco: Fun, Informative, chill. We had so much fun through the trip(I especially engaged in the Mexican culture and history part from Marco and he was super nice/patient to answer all my questions along the way). Also, Marco was super flexible and let us customized our trip a bit so I am really grateful for it! I can't pick which spots is my favorite cuz I enjoyed all. Regarding to the food, I finally had the authentic tacos here and love it so much(now the Birria "Si" is my bf's favorite taco shop now)! If you have more time, try the seafood there, they are affordable and fresh! Many thanks again to Marco and I recommend this tour to everyone especially the first timer in Tijuana!

Fun and amazing experience in Tijuana!
