Great tour in Takayama!

I 100% recommend the tour! Our guide was Hemi, who knows a lot about Japanese history, and the best part is that it was conducted in English. He was very kind to us and explained a lot about the places we visited. We loved everything! It was very comfortable because we were a small group of 7 people, and the transportation to Shirikawago was private in a van. Excellent tour! Highly recommended ☺️

Great English Speaking tour guides

I took their Takayama to Shirakawa go tour for first day. And then for 2nd day is the Kanazawa Tour. The tours they offer are good value for money. I strongly recommend to join their tours to maximize your travel time. Their tour guides are very good also. What I like about them (so far) are their English speaking guides. You can actually understand them (their accent) because its really their first language. But I hope in the future they would accept more solo travelers.

Our tour was well planned with a guide who knew the significance of the cultural experience we had hoped for. The overall experience was good. We were fortunate to not only benefit from an English speaking guide, but one who understood the Japanese.

Good fun in Takayama

Our guide Himi was very knowledgeable and fun to tour with! Luckily the group of tourists we were with were also super down to earth and a fun group, so the whole experience was a blast. 10/10 would do again.

Private walking and minibus tour of Takayama and Shirakawago.

We only had one day in Takayama, but we wanted to see both Takayama and Shirakawago. So this guided walk around the old town in the morning and another guided walk around Shirakawago in the afternoon was perfect for us. The tour included transport between both places. Devin, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. A thumbs up though to future trippers: if you’re going in cold weather, make sure you wear warm socks as part of the tour was inside with shoes off, and with snow on the ground outside, our feet got very cold! A great day though - thank you Devin and our friendly driver.

Best day tour we did in Japan. The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable, he gave us way more insight into the locations we visited than would have been possible just reading the plaques.

It was the best tour I've ever experienced. I've met various tour guides around the world, but Hemi stood out as one of the finest—knowledgeable not only in guiding but also exceptionally attentive and pleasant in nature. Thank you so much. As a Japanese, I appreciated receiving comprehensive information from Hemi about the newly visited Takayama city and Shirakawa-go, ranging from historical contexts to the current status as popular tourist destinations, including tips on where to find delicious local food.　Thanks to Hemi, I was able to enjoy and understand the local scene on a much deeper level. This tour is highly recommended even to Japanese visitors.

Awesome Tour Guide!

Our guide was a walking encyclopaedia which is exactly what you want in a tour guide! We learnt so much from Himmie including recommendations for other cities we our visiting during our family holiday to Japan. He was also a great help in finding us gluten free options, the Hida Beef skewers were delicious! He was very patient with our children and the tour itself was just the right length to tick the boxes for Takayama and Shirakawa-Go. Highly recommend this tour,

A really Great Day out

We really enjoyed our day out with Hemi. We had been in Takayama a day already and had already walked through the town so Hemi was flexible showing us other parts of Takayama we hadn't already seen - the visit to the Jinya in Takayama was excellent - we got so much more out of this visit with Hemi's knowledge and interesting facts. we enjoyed lunch with Hemi's recommendation at a traditional local restaurant and the afternoon at Shirakawago was fantastic. This was probably our favourite part of our Japan trip and really appreciated this day tour helping to bring these most interesting and beautiful towns to life. Thanks Hemi for the experience.

Awesome day in Takayama and Shirakawago

The tour was excellent. The guide, Hemi was fantastic and very informative. Highly recommend this tour. We were able to Taste delicious food which included matcha ice cream, rice mochi on a stick, tempura vegetables for lunch and wagu beef. Walked thru old town and visited many historical sites.

Long frustrating day

Too much ‘wasted’ time … really not enough to be seen to justify a long day tour . Free time especially at end of tour waiting for a public bus return was particularly irritating Pleasant guide but only so much he could add

Takayama and Shirakawa-go (good) Day tour

The Viator tour description was good and I had no problems in finding the meeting place. However, I took a look at the Snow Monkey Resorts website and the description of the tour had a lot more detailed information/description of the tour and what to expect. The weather forecast was rain for the day, but we were lucky it didn't rain during the tour. Our English speaking tour guide covered everything that was listed on the tour. As well as answering all of my questions and I had a lot of questions. He also provided recommendations on places to eat in Takayama where I was staying. Also provided recommendations of where to go for items that I was interested in.

Great experience. Strong recommendation

Devon is a very knowledgeable tour guide that blew us away with a ton of interesting information that really enriched the experience in takayama and shirakawago. One of the best parts is his breadth of knowledge and passion when discussing Japanese history and culture. We were asking him questions that went beyond the tour locations themselves and learned so much. If you want to have a very educational private tour and have all the transportation arranged for you, then you should book this tour. The only thing is that food isn't included, but they chose a restaurant in shirakawago that was excellent.

Most impressive views and knowledgeable tour guide of the trip

Devon was amazing. He knew more about Japanese history and culture than any of our other guides (or even most of our Japanese friends). Shirakawa go was as nice as the pictures make it look. Great tour for everyone, our kids got a lot out of it. Morning market was fun, and the Takayama Jinya was the perfect amount of history.

Amazing sceneries

Great visit to these two towns, amazing scenics and Devin the guide was super professional, very interesting information and explanations of everything we saw. Super kind guy, we enjoyed a lot!

Fabulous tour on a hot day in summer

Devin was a great tour guide - very informative, accommodating and anticipative of the groups needs. He really was a great guide (we have had a couple of crappy ones on our trip so far). We had a stroller and had no problems with walking around. We had a mini bus to transport us to the different attractions. You could do as much or as little as you wanted in your free time within the tour. For us it was a super hot day, so by the end we were happy to cut our walk around Shirakawago a little short. We had an awesome lunch in Shirakawago too. There is a fabulous river outside Shirakawago that would be great to spend some time in at the end of the tour.
