Walking Tour of Sydney

Genuinely enjoyable tour by a guide who, in the nicest possible way, was a bit of a history geek and obviously enjoyed his job. Tour covered the main historical sites of Sydney, was very informative and interesting, throwing in a mix of street art and local recommendations. Tour guide Daniel was great, could have definitely heard more of his knowledge. Was a good introduction to Sydney. The walking wasn't challenging and was much better than a bus

Daniel was an excellent tour guide sharing lots of local history, insights into social issues, background on specific city leaders, and current hotspots. The length of the walk was enough to give a significant overview of the city area of Sydney. We kept a good pace and the small group was nice. I’d recommend the tour and Daniel’s lead in particular. Great introduction to Sydney!

We had an amazing tour with Michael yesterday. We learned so much about the founding of Australia and Sydney. He shared tips and suggestions for our trip including sights to see and restaurants to visit. This was a wonderful way to begin our trip. What a great introduction to Sydney!

Good tour and Dan is the man!

Very very nice tour. Offers a chance to see Sydney’s older parts and the history therein but also takes you to the newer areas to see how the city has grown up and is still changing and evolving today. Daniel, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and also did a great job paying homage to the indigenous peoples of Australia and their history in Sydney. Ends at a wonderful pub/bar across the harbor from the Sydney Opera House which makes for a great ambiance and start to your evening as well. Very well done.

Excellent guides, good historical perspectives

We really enjoyed the walking tour. The tour guide was excellent and gave us the history of the British landing in Sydney and from then on ... It was a very balanced look at the British-Australian history, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great walking tour of downtown Sydney

Considering that this was a historical walking tour, we really got our money’s worth. Our tour guide, Dan, was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Sydney and Australia in general. Informative and funny, Dan made the experience great. We ended the tour at the base of the Harbor Bridge, where we got some beautiful photos. We highly recommend this tour.

Simply Terrific Tour

I took the tour with my husband who is American and has no knowledge of Sydney. I lived in Sydney before emigrating to the USA so I was prepared to be a little bored. Justin was our guide on a private tour and we were fascinated from beginning to end. We were so enthralled with the stories Justin told us that it wasn't until the near end of our tour that we even thought to take a photo. This tour is that good. Regardless of what you think you know about Sydney this tour is for you. It is interesting, funny at times and never boring. We were just starting out our vacation and this was the perfect beginning. I cannot recommend it enough.

A wonderful experience !

I take a Walking Tour whenever I visit a new city and I was keen to see what Sydney offered. We had a terrific time on this tour. Michael was an excellent guide and the time passed quickly as he shared countless stories and facts about Sydney. We covered a lot of territory, and he was mindful of safety and everyone's capabilities. If you are planning a trip to Sydnet...this is a must !

Michael was awesome. Offered great incites into Sydney and its beginnings. He was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and resources.

Enjoyable informative tour of Sydney

Jason gave a very good tour, taking us to a number of notable sites that were part of the development of Sydney from early times when first europeans and created Sydney to what it is now. His commentary on the characters that shaped Sydney was also very interesting. We were also fortunate to be here for Vivid and saw the light show. I would totally recommend this tour.

Walking and Learning

This was a very informative tour about the culture and history of Sydney (and Australia). Michael was a very knowledgeable guide and he did a great job explaining much about the growth of Sydney. We really enjoyed it.

This was a really interesting walking tour explaining a lot about the history and people of Sidney. Michael was an interesting and knowledgeable tour guide with lots of facts about Sidney. He even provided some very tasty ANZAC biscuits. Highly recommended tour.

Fantastic historical walking tour

The tour with Dan was fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Sydney and it was on display on the tour. Although I was the only person on the tour (the others had cancelled), Dan was very welcoming, friendly and super easy to talk to and ask questions. Highly recommend!

Visiting Sydney

Daniel showed us all the nooks and crannies of Sydney's CBD and surrounding areas and was a friendly and efficient guide. I recommend this tour.

Great tour of Sydney, with great guides!

We were fortunate to have two tour guides for our intro to Sydney - Daniel and Justin. They were both super - knowledgeable, nice and fun. It was like learning about a new city with local friends. By far, one of our best tours and tour guides!

Great introduction to Oz

I had a brilliant time on this tour with Justin and his colleague (with the longer hair). It was a really good way to introduce myself to both Sydney and Oz and I really appreciated some of the more nuanced context about Australian/Sydney’s history and how it was respectfully presented and signposting to where I can find out more about aboriginal culture for example. Great chat and recommendations, thanks again guys.

Very very interesting!!

Wonderful information about how the economy developed from the first boat with 1500 convicts. England did the world a favor by sending them. Our guide’s love for history was very evident!! A must tour!

A perfect introduction to Sydney and Australia

It was excellent. Michael is passionate about Sydney and Australian history. He spent a lot of time explaining the landmarks andengaging our group.

Great overview of Sydney

Justin was a great guide and gave our small group a good history of Sydney and how it got to be the city it now is. We walked at a leisurely pace for 3 hours and covered almost all of the CBD, stopping to learn about the significance of various areas and throughout Justin name dropped a lot of restaurants and bars that we should investigate further. We finished with a beer and a view of the Opera House and a good discussion of future plans and what options were available -

Brilliant and very interesting

I went on the tour yesterday and I have to say Justin and the tour was excellent and fantastic value for money. His knowledge of the city and the pace he moves you through the different sectors is perfect Justin finished with a beer which was a great way to end and last night sent a google list of some exciting bars and restaurants and as I’m new to the city I’ll definitely be trying 10/10. Don’t hesitate just book yourself on the tour

Great way to spend a morning

Very interesting tour with good background to the sites we visited. Perfect length and we finished with a very welcome beer with an iconic view of the Bridge and Opera House.

This tour was the perfect way to start the few days we had in Sydney after disembarking from our cruise ship. Justin is an enthusiastic Sydney expert and the route and his narration gave us a very good sense of Sydney (past and present), as well as orienting us for further exploration on our own. Our tour started near the ferry terminal (near our hotel) and ended (brilliant!) at a brewery/bar. We highly recommend Justin and Local Sauce Tours.

Knowledgeable guide

Perfect to get to know Sydney. Michael did a great job bringing to a wide range of interesting places, explaining them all with fun nuggets of information along the way.

Really enjoyable and informative tour, Michael was very knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone in the group. This was our second visit to Sydney and although we’d seen some of the points of interest before it was good to learn about them and understand their significance. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great Way to Start Your Holiday in Sydney.

Justin and Daniel were very personable, fun and informative. The confirmation included all the information I needed and Justin was very helpful in answering any other questions I had afterwards via email. The ANZAC cookies and beverage at the end were the icing on the cake! I've never been on a tour that ended in such a friendly manner - sitting together, sharing a drink and a chat. Thanks, guys, for a great experience.

Three Hours Well Spent

We spent 3+ hours walking the streets of Sydney with Justin. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a comfortable way of communicating his knowledge of the sights and history of Sydney. During our tour he offered suggestions for places we might want to spend more time and where we might find good food and drink. A final touch of the tour was a local beverage at a harbor restaurant and bar.

Andrew make the history walking tour enjoyable!

History walking tour is never my thing but Andrew make it fun and we enjoy enjoy this trip… we end up having a beet at the harbor and Andrew gave us some suggestion about the afternoon activity and it’s easy to follow.. highly recommended this tour with Andrew!!

Super interesting tour

An excellent tour of Sydney. Lots of historical information was shared plus interesting stories about the streets and buildings. Justin and Dan answered lots of questions and it felt like a persondd as listed tour.

Outstanding Tour of Historical Sites in Sydney

I’ve done walking tours in many cities around the world and I have to say the tour I took with Justin and Local Sauce was absolutely one of the best of any city. Highly informative, I learned a lot about Australian history and culture. It also was very well organized, following an easy to understand chronological set of stories while walking from site to site. Just the right mix of walking and stories. It covered a lot of ground in the three hours, wrapping up on the waterfront in the Rocks. I highly recommend this tour, it was one of the true highlights of my trip to Sydney!

Great tour of Sydney highlights!

Justin was an incredible tour guide! Very knowledgeable about the history & culture of the city. He made it very interesting & we learned a lot. It is 3 hours of walking, so be prepared. We were not rushed but there isn’t a lot of time to stop & take leisurely photos. It’s a great tour if you have a limited amount of time, as we did. It’s also a great initial tour for a visit since Justin highlights many places to go back to & spend more time. Highly recommend this tour!

Great Overview of Sydney

I signed up for the Ultimate Sydney Walking Tour as my first activity the morning I arrived in Sydney. It was a great overview of the city. Justin was a great guide- he kept us moving while explaining quite a bit of the history and culture around the downtown area, and he provided some good tips on what else to see and where to eat. Highly recommended.

Discover Sydney's heart and soul

We joined Local Sauce’s Ultimate Sydney Walking Tour and it was awesome! I swear we covered all the important parts of the Sydney—from Circular Quay through the business and retail districts, along Macquarie Street to Hyde Park and then back through easy-to-miss laneways. Along the way, our knowledgeable, wry guide, Justin, shared insights and personal recommendations. A perfect way to get your bearings in Sydney! Highlights included an Aboriginal-owned bakery, Sydney Hospital, Sydney’s least-accurate statue, and street art. We ended up at a microbrewery on the waterfront staring at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and drinking a local pale ale. Perfect. Small group, smart guide, big adventure. Don't miss this one!

Walking tour showcasing a few of Sydney’s highlights

Michael was so knowledgeable and passionate about bout the area and his career. There were many interesting geographical topics brought up within our group and he was able to navigate each one with ease. It was important that I went on a tour that gave a history to all aspects of Sydney/Australia so I appreciated how he was able to incorporate a little of everything and customize the experience based on our audience.

Great overview of Sydney!

Justin was a fabulous tour guide. Extremely smart and knowledgeable. He gave us a perfect overview of the city and its history. Clearly, he puts a lot of effort into his tours and is a great ambassador for the city of Sydney. He is almost like a host showing off his town! He is very kind and fielded questions with insight and aplomb.

Loved our walking tour.

Justin was fantastic. We did alot of sights in just 3 hours ending at a fun pub. He provided some history, some secret signs and a lot of food and drink suggestions. Highly recommend.

First class tour. Interesting and Engaging

Ahead of our trip to Australia, I spent a lot of time sifting through walking tour reviews before deciding on the Ultimate Sydney Walking tour with Local Sauce Tour, and we have absolutely no regrets. Our tour guide was Justin who, right from the start , had us hooked with his local knowledge and with his enthusiastic and engaging delivery. I particularly like the way that the stops along the way were organised to lead us through the history of Sydney from colonisation through to modern day. Who would have though that a walking tour with a history lesson could be so much fun! So in summary, an outstanding tour from an outstanding tour guide. Look no further!

Wow if you like History, do this tour.

If you like History then this is the tour. It was very informative and progressed through the History of Australia from the arrival of the British up to the present day. It was a really nice easy walk looking at some iconic Sydney buildings and seeing places to visit on another day. Michael was a very knowledgeable man who brought our tour to life and with good interaction with our group, it was a real pleasure.

Perfect tour to get familiar with Sydney

A must do if not familiar with Sydney. I wish I had done the tour on my first come of days as it is a great way to get familiarised with the City. Justin is very knowledgeable and gave us some great insight in the history of Sydney and the current fabric of it. Ending at the Rocks with a drink was a nice way to conclude the afternoon. Justin also followed up with some info and useful links.

Fabulous Tour

We had an excellent tour guide Michael. He confirmed meeting information the day before, he had a welcoming smile, his knowledge of Australia was extensive, we had sufficient breaks, as it was a 3 and half walking tour found the information on the Aboriginal community so interesting, we had a drink at the end and could ask more questions, and he send us more helpful information on where to visit, he went over and beyond, and it was extra special as it my birthday, what a treat.
