Experience of a Lifetime

Purchased a surf lesson for my son on our holiday from the states. The instructor, although young, was very competent and fun! My boy managed to stand up several times in the two hour lesson. It was the chance of a lifetime to surf the iconic Bondi Beach!

Fun experience

Enjoyed the experience. Instructor Gus was helpful, patient and kept while group in good mood. Don't worry if weather is bad, when I did it, it was raining all the time and it's not a problem at all. Many surfers in the water and my group was 5 people.

The only place to go for fun, friendly, confidence building lessons.

This is a bit of a love letter to Let’s Go Surfing, but if you want a fun, welcoming and inspiring entry into surfing, you’ll get it here. I’ve done a whole bunch of surf lessons since starting to try and catch waves and had always struggled and wanted to give up, thinking it probably wasn’t for me. The team at Let’s Go Surfing absolutely turned that around for me though. I went solo, and the welcoming atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and part of the gang from the off. Every single member of the team are literal angels on earth, so friendly and so patient, consistently taking the time for each individual to help improve their particular area of struggle. You won’t just get a standard cut and paste session, the support and knowledge goes beyond just getting you to stand up on a board and catch a wave. You can pick their beautiful brains for tips on reading waves, conditions, paddle techniques, etc. The team’s passion for surfing is clear, and makes each session an informative joy to be part of. With the help of this smart, kind and talented bunch I’ve not become the most skilled and stylish surfer by any means but I’m confident to get out there with everything I’ve learned and go it solo. If you’re in Sydney for a while you’ll soon become addicted and if you do, I’d highly recommend their 6 week course which has also found me a solid friendship group to talk surfing and go out and support in the water with 💕

Complete beginner - very satisfied

This was the first time my 15 year old son had been surfing. He enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, the instruction was top class and the experience in the water was exhilarating. The length of the lesson was ideal because it taught enough skills to be able to go away and practice. We had a second lesson later in the week and this worked out very well to get the most out of the experience.

Fun but tiring

The group size was good as we could focus well on the training and not get left out. The instructor was really friendly too

Amazing Experience!

We arrived slightly late for our booking, but nonetheless we were greeted with smiles. They quickly set us up with wet suits and boards and walked us right to the beach. Our instructor, Leo, was absolutely amazing. His instruction made what would normally be an intimidating activity for beginners, into something easily understandable and accessible. This is a must do when you are in Sydney. Ask for Leo!!

High level of fitness required

Fun time. Was taken a little too serious for my liking. Would have liked the pace to be a bit slower so the session felt more enjoyable rather than a super intense workout. But I understand some people would prefer this! Thanks for the class!

Awesome sauce

10/10 experience. Great instructions by our instructor Gui. Fun and highly recommend. We will definitely do again next visit. Bondi Beach is amazingly beautiful

Surfs Up!

Being someone who's never skateboarded or snowboarded, I wasn't putting much stock into the thought of being able to do much with a surfing lesson. But, when in Bondi, we had to try. Our guide Mischa was fantastic. It was poor weather that day, raining hard and a little chilly, but he did a great job keeping everything loose and gave our group a solid safety briefing and intro surfing lesson. Once in the water, which was nice and warm, the surf was awesome. Constant waves, but none too high that it was ever intimidating. We al took turns getting set up with our boards and riding waves, and to my surprise my wife and I managed to get up and ride waves all the way to shore. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to try surfing again at some point!

Great experience!

Apart from the beautiful location, this is a must if you’re visiting Bondi beach. I had so much fun learning to surf, and our instructor was great. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. The location is easy to find, and the price is reasonable.

Great time for a beginner!

My kids had a great time learning how to surf at Bondi beach! Their teach was a lot of fun, patient and good at explaining the tricks to get up on the board and ride the surf. Highly recommend this for any beginner! Plus, the beach is beautiful and lots to do around the area once you are done surfing.

Great experience!

Great experience in famous Bondi Beach! The lesson was great and the teachers (Harry and Nuno) were friendly and professional. Highly recommended! A bit unfortunate to not have pictures since I did it alone and the school does not organize this service.

Surfing is a must

This experience was so much fun and for such little money it was well worth it! Definitely something you have to do while in Sydney, so much easier than you would expect!

Poor surfing instructor with almost zero engagement with students

Our instructor was definitely a good surfer, otherwise they wouldn’t be an instructor here, but not an experienced instructor at all. There was not much engagement, and even when telling us about the safety instructions, their voice were really low and not even facing the students, but looking around, checking the environment, so we had a hard time catching up with what they were talking about. There were two times they suddenly ran away for something without telling students what was going on, and no explanation upon showing up again. Of course, given the nature of group classes and uncontrollable weather, people’s experiences vary and it’s not something the instructor can do. However, getting some basic knowledge about how to instruct and maintain professionalism is critical. Some of the staff in the shop are very helpful, and other people’s experience seems to show there are quite a few good instructors, but none of them mentioned ours, so I assume they must be new to coaching surfing. We didn’t have a good time and hope this surfing school offers some basic training techniques to instructors, so all the others in the future will still have a good time surfing here.

Good experience for beginners

Had a great time. Only thing I wish was part of the class was paddling. Yes getting up is a great goal but to learn to paddle out and catch a wave versus just being pushed into one would have made this an excellent experience. Instructors were very friendly and made the group feel welcome and encouraged. I would say it probably helped others build confidence to want to try surfing again. Enjoyed the boards were beginner friendly

I booked these surfing lessons for my two children 18yrs and 15yrs. They had a blast!!! Instructors were helpful and enthusiastic. A great experience!! My husband and I watched them from a nice bench overlooking the beach. That was nice too!

Surfing in Australia, you can do it too!

The logistic and the treatment of the instructors was excellent. Bondi is a beautiful beach. I recommend this activity to beginners who want to try surfing for the first time. I did not give it 5 stars because the waves are not the best...

First Timer Experience

First time trying my hand at surfing. Both of the instructors were patient and understanding. Both also provided easy to understand instructions and guidance. So much so, that when I did mess up, I was able to understand exactly what I was doing wrong based off the lessons they gave and fixed it. The only complaint I have is that I wish it had been a bit longer. Though I understand they likely have other lessons to do throughout the day, only a couple of hours to learn and get out on the waves doesn't leave you feeling like you had enough tike to get it down pat, though. Overall though, would recommend them if you're in bondi and wanting to try your hand at this. Especially if you don't have a wetsuit and board, since they provide those.

Getting to learn the basic skills on the sand first and then implementing the techniques in the water was a great way of learning and was heaps fun.

Fantastic private lesson!

My private lesson with Oscar was terrific, and he had endless patience. This was my first exposure to surfing - a gift to myself for a milestone birthday - and Oscar took it one step at a time. For me to even stay on the surfboard and get up on my knees was huge. Most importantly, it was terrific fun. Everyone at Let's Go Surfing was super friendly, encouraging, and helpful in making my lesson happen. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you again, LGS, for a fantastic day.

Nothing beats a sunrise surf session

This was the highlight of our time in Sydney and was so much fun! I'm regretting that I didn't book it sooner so I could take more than just one lesson. Shay was an awesome instructor and made the group feel so at ease as first timers. I would highly recommend booking this if you're contemplating.

Favorite experience of my whole trip

I had such a great time with this experience! Our teachers were incredible and even though the waves were pretty choppy, all of us were able to get up at least once. Loved the introduction, the tutorial, and then how committed Max was to helping us get up as often as we could with pushing us onto waves and teaching us how to time catching our own. Probably my favorite experience of the whole trip!

Megan is the best there is on Bondi Beach

Our instructor, Megan, was amazing…so patient and knowledgeable. This was a highlight of our time in the Sydney area, hands down.

The surf lessons were amazing. I did the 6:30am lesson which was great to be out in the water as the sun came up. The instructor Matt was amazing. He was very positive and helpful. The waves were amazing for beginners and it was great being in a small group to be able to get a lot of practice in.

Great experience! Wish I had a photo!

Such a fun experience! Our two instructors were lovely and so encouraging! They offered useful advice and encouragement to help simplify surfing and make the experience fun! The only thing I wish, was that they offered a group photo or some type of photo opportunity (especially for those of us traveling) so we would have a memory of it to bring home. Other than that, I highly recommend and loved this experience!!

Great lesson, amazing experience

I had a free morning in Sydney and found this activity the night before and seized the chance to learn to surf at Bondi beach since I don’t live anywhere near an ocean back home. The Let’s Go Surfing staff and instructors were great and helped me have an awesome first experience even if my lack of coordination meant I wasn’t quite able to stand up on the board, guess I’ll have to come again for more practice :) I appreciated that the wetsuit and sunscreen were provided, all I had to bring was my swimsuit and towel. If you have neither there are shops nearby where you could easily get those items. I would happily return here or even take another lesson at a different beach they operate at for some variety.

A great experience!

The staff was top-notch all the way around. My lesson was with Wilson and Jordy and they were fantastic! They knew their stuff and were able to teach us in a way that was easily understood to the point where I was able to stand up and catch multiple waves on my own. I highly recommend this company if you are interested in a great experience for surfing lessons.

This was a blast! 2 of the 3 in our group were able to stand up on the board. The beach is beautiful. The company was knowledgeable and provided everything needed.

Dan the instructor was very competent, attentive and make you feel safe at all time. He always came back with tips on how to improve your surfing. The staff was also very helpful and assist us with the photographs.

Really great experience and fun. Would do it again. Easy to understand for begginers. Bondi Beach is a nice spot.

Great experience, friendly teachers

I simply did one lesson for fun and they did a great job teaching you the basics & letting you try surfing! You had plenty of time to surf, and you were also able to sit on the beach to take a breather if you needed. They had changing areas, sunscreen, and wet suits. But make sure to remember your swim suit underneath. Additionally, there was a bathroom, but it wasn’t ~super~ convenient to walk to, or ~super~ nice, so try to remember to use the restroom before coming to class. Overall, would totally recommend this experience!

Do this!

Everyone should do this! The instructors were great and worked hard to help everyone get up on their boards. Surfing isn’t something you can do everywhere-so happy I did this!🌊🏄🏻‍♀️

Fun and knowledgeable leaders

2 very experienced surfers led the group and taught well and in different ways. Group size a bit too big but they did their best to give time to everyone but a few less people would have meant more space and time for everyone. Good 2 hour session though and on such an iconic beach.

Ok surfing class for beginners

A good surfing class for complete beginners, but the instructors were not very enthusiastic. There were moments where they even gave the impression they were bored. A plus that the surfing school provided sunscreen and rash guard.

We were lucky to have 2 fantastic instructors. Emily (NZ) was wonderful and ensured we remained confident throughout. So glad we had a go. We used every muscle we have but it was an unforgettable experience. Brilliant
