Private Arrival Transfer: Sydney Airport to Hotel or Cruise Port

Convenient and Teliable Airport Transportation

I made the reservation for pickup at Sydney International Airport a couple of months ahead of time. Upon arrival I was contacted with instructions where to meet. Communication was excellent. Our driver was very friendly and helped us with information about how to get to local attractions. The same driver picked us up the next morning to return to the airport. The company is reliable and I would definitely use them again.

Communication Lacking

Communication was lacking. We arrived to the airport and no one was there to greet us or direct us. Being new to the country, I followed signs that indicated transportation pickup because our driver was no where to be found, only to end up on the other side of the airport lost and confused. Our driver finally texted and called after 20 minutes, we had already been off the plane and gone through customs. It was a horrible experience. The driver was nice, but the experience was not the best.

A living nightmare

This was the worst experience I've ever had. We had paid reservations to take us from the Sydney airport to the cruise ship. We were told someone would be there holding a sign. No one was there. An airport employee assisted us by calling them. A van finally came to get us. While in route, the office called to inform us that we had to pay again or they would tell the driver to take us back to the airport and we would have to find another way to get to the ship. We were in a foreign country. so we paid again. Returning to the airport after the cruise was not much better. No specific place was given to meet them and there were no identifying names on the white van. So trying to find it was a real hassle. This was a nightmare that I would not want to repeat. So beware if you do business with this company.

Don’t use for private transfers!

This is a complaint above the scheduling office. They INSISTED (and NOT pleasantly) that we be picked up on 22 April at 5:30am for a 1 pm departure flight THEN on 26 April would only pick up at 6 am for an international flight boarding (my husband needed wheelchair assistance) at 8:15am THEN despite being told we were on Delta- dropped us off at check in A for Quanta’s forcing us to walk all the way to H for delta as a result my husband became short of breath I would NOT do a private transfer with Go Sydney

A very easy and smooth pick up at the airport. Driver was nice. Gave us information about the area would use again easily.

We had the same driver for our trips to the airport. He was a good driver and friendly. He also gave us some suggestions regarding a restaurant, which was great.

Semi private

It wasn’t private but I was dropped off first. I had thought that I booked a private transfer. I had difficulty booking it so perhaps I was wrong,

Driver was on time and assisted with luggage. Contacted by phone just after we arrived. Vehicle was clean and adequate.

Watch the extras

Did not tell us about the extra expenses until we got into the car. We had to pay extra on going across the Sydney bridge from downtown. I told the representative how much luggage we had and we had to pay exact for over amount which she did not tell us. Accidentally, the transportation was big enough. We were only going to get a car, which was not going to be enough, but because of a cancellation we got a van. Be careful ask about extra expenses. Turned out to be expensive

Great airport transfer

Very efficient and convenient way to travel from the Sydney airport to downtown Sydney. No waiting in long taxi line or worries about being overcharged.

Driver left 15min early and kicked my group out of the bus because I wasn't there yet

I had a group of 7. I booked thru Viator to pick us up at 1030am. That would allow all of us to arrive, change our money to AUD, get our luggage, get thru customs and get to the pick up spot. I booked for a 1030am pick up with a 60 min wait time cushion. My plane was delayed because my flight was cancelled and rebooked. As you can see the driver left at 11:15am I was at the pick up spot by 11:22. We ended up grabbing a taxi. I want to be refunded. We did everything we could to get the driver to stay and get Emma from vendor to honor our contract. We even had someone call the day before when it was clear my flight would be 45min delayd.

The most memorable experience we had was the beautiful waterfront in Sydney. The People were kind and The atmosphere was intriguing.

Our flight was delayed by over an hour, and then in the process of obtaining luggage, passing thru customs, etc, the delay was almost 2 hours. But George was still at the airport awaiting us. He was informative and helpful during the short trip to our downtown hotel.

Really appreciated the patience by the driver awaiting us getting through a long line at passport control and then awaiting our luggage at baggage claim. Very friendly and great service.

Bad attitude and poor communication

We booked this service to bring us from SYD to our hotel. When our plane landed they did not have enough gates which led us to be parked on the tarmac, requiring a bus ride to the main terminal (30 minutes). I received multiple texts asking for updates when we had only just set foot on the ground. We agreed that I would text once we received our bags, there was an incredibly long line (several hundred passengers) to clear customs. After receiving our bags, there was an inspection line and due to a glitch in the automated technology arriving guests were sent to manual inspections causing a delay. When this happened, I provided an update. After finally clearing inspection I texted (no response) then called and was rudely told that our pick up was canceled because it took too long. I told her that was unacceptable as we had paid for the transfer and although we experienced delays beyond our control, I consistently communicated and provided updates. She begrudgingly texted "I will have a driver available in 20-30 minutes" followed by "This is a free transfer as a good gesture. Please tip your driver generously. Thanks." From my perspective, no, this was NOT a free transfer, you gladly collected my $126 USD. When the driver arrived, he was rude, incredibly short with us and acted disgusted and inconvenienced at having to provide us with the transfer. We had been traveling for 24 hours with 2 sets of elderly parents, needless to say, this was not the "welcome" we had hoped for when arriving in Sydney.

Go Sydney Airport shuttle

Arranged for 'Go Sydney' to transfer from Airport to downtown hotel. Plane landed at 10:41am but due to delays didn't arrive on stand till 11.35am. On exit aircraft received message at 11.55am that the shuttle was leaving but could possibly wait 5mins. Shuttle left at 12.07. I cleared immigration, collected my luggage and exited at 12.27. Next communication from 'Go Sydney' was offer to get private car for additional 65 AUD. I was informed that the next shuttle was 2.5 - 3 hours and I told them I would get a taxi. A further message informed me that unrequested there would be No Refund as I was offered next shuttle. I can't recommend 'Go Sydney' because I did not travel with them, but please be aware that this is a shared shuttle and if miss it you will have a wait of about 3 hours. Also the messages I received were a little aggressive. They replied that they would respond to an unfavourable review by publishing the what's app messages which I approve then people can form their own opinion. My advice and also 'Go Sydney's ' advice - GET PRIVATE TRANSFER

The scenery and Featherdale were great. But our tour guide, Smy, made the trip so much fun. Kept up laughing the entire time

Everything went smoothly

Our driver contacted us as we landed at the airport and provided us with instructions on how to find him outside the terminal after we cleared custom and quarantine. The pickup process went without hiccups. And once we met our driver, IIlya, he was courteous and helped us load up our luggage as promised. He was friendly and conversational during the drive to our hotel, and he provided us with some useful tips on where to visit during our stay in Sydney. We would definitely book with Go Sydney Shuttle again.

Not great

We had never flown into Sydney before and were expecting to be met in the arrivals hall by our driver, but this wasn’t the case. Following some confusing text messages about where to go we eventually found the driver, not a great experience having spent almost 24 hours in transit to get here

That's why we use viator for transfers

We had a change in flights and our driver was right on top of it and was waiting when we cleared customs.

Paid for to/from transportation, only got one way transfer.

We had a VERY nice driver who picked us up from the airport to take us to our hotel. He texted me to let me know his whereabouts and where we should meet. However We never got our return transfer. Lack of communication caused us not to be picked up from our cruise port to the airport. With only WiFi on the ship I tried the Viator Chat and the guy said he couldn't confirm or deny if someone will be at the port to pick us up. So I didn't think anyone was coming and we end up paying $80 for a cab ride to airport. I finally got an email AFTER we took a cab that someone would pick us up at the port.. Too little too late.

Wrong information on advertising of expected services

The information on the Viator website was not accurate with regard to pickup location or luggage assistance. Viator customer service help desk was horrific.

Great service with a great driver

We used Go Sydney Shuttle recently and were impressed with the service we received. The driver contacted us while we were waiting for our luggage and gave us clear directions of where to meet him. He handled our luggage and provided us with first class service. His vehicle was modern and clean and his driving excellent. During the ride, he gave us just the right amount of commentary and helpful advice.

Do not use Viator no customers support

Service never performed once they have your money, and if the airline delays your buy one or two minutes, they wash their hands of providing any service to you. Unable to contact anybody to explain the situation take a cab much cheaper.

Good drive half service.

Driver was very nice and showed local sights along the way. However when the service indicated we would be greeted in the arrival hall at the terminal with a sign with a client name that should be done. Don’t say one thing then not do it.

Would not do this again.

Was not a luxury sedan as advertised, was not waiting for us on arrival like ticket said it would be. Texted we needed to notify them on arrival but text didn’t come through until after we finally found representative. Worked for getting to destination but definitely not what was expected from the description on Viator. Could have grabbed a cab for less money and had the same experience. Driver did a good job.

False advertising waste off money rude driver.

Viator promised a person would meet me at the baggage carousel holding a card with my name on it. This did not happen. I rang the number provided and was told the driver was waiting outside in his bus for us. Sydney airport is big and busy hence I required a personal and private escort. The woman I spoke to on the phone had to talk me through to the outside and then had to describe to me over the phone where to go. Then when I got to the supposed pick up point I could not locate the car. Then the driver rang me and demanded, “where are you!?” I was disgusted with this service. I could have walked out to the taxi rank (where the driver was) and caught a taxi myself for a hell of a lot cheaper!!!!! Half price in fact. The driver was extremely rude too. He said he had been trying to call me but I didn’t answer my phone. Wrong! There were no missed calls on my phone which I had in my hand the entire time. iPhone missed calls doesn’t lie. I was pleasant to him as I was very nervous being in a big city. The driver drive with much road rage. He said he was from the Ukraine so I guess he wanted my sympathy vote so I wasn’t angry at the lack of service. I wouldn’t bother. Just get a taxi. Waste of money. Rude driver. Should have come in with a card as expected. This was the only reason why I booked this service and that didn’t happen. Shame on you Viator!

Do not recommend

Our flight was delayed due to a storm. I contacted the carrier as soon as we knew we would be delayed, 22 hours in advance of our pickup time. Eventually, we missed our connecting flight and the carrier would not reschedule once I had a new arrival time and denied my request for a refund because we didn’t give them 24 hours notice. A storm that shut down the whole west coast of the United States and not within our control. Unreasonable to not consider a refund.

FAIL

I booked a private transfer for 6 people from the airport. Upon arrival, the driver was not present. After contacting Go Sydney Shuttle, I was informed a shuttle(public, not private) should arrive in 30 minutes. After 45 minutes and no driver, I made other arrangements and called to cancel. I’m still waiting to hear from Viator about a refund.

Left stranded at the airport after long haul flight

We were left stranded at the airport after a 30 hr long haul flight and Go Sydney Shuttle did not arrive for pick up as arranged and paid for. They did not answer phones call, texts or emails. After reading past reviews on line the next day - a lot of people had the same experience. I would recommend not using Go Sydney Shuttle

the driver was very friendly and courteous. He contacted us immediately via what's app after arrival. We had a lot of luggage registered and the car was big enough for everything. The price was ok. We used the chat contact to clarify the problem with the luggage in advance and that also worked great. We were very happy with everything.

Excellent Company/Service

The company representative was waiting for me inside the airport, with my name on an easily read sign. What a welcome relief to see him, as this was my first experience at this particular airport. He was friendly and nice and I followed him quite a distance to the car and driver. My driver was also very nice and got me to my hotel safe and sound. The entire experience was very positive.
