A real scam

According to the website, the boat was supposed to navigate into the exclusive zone: liar, it was not, and we were pushed far away from the bridge by the police. No other options to seat down, unless you paid an additional fee for $50 pp. Of course, that was not mentioned on the website. The DJ’s was a nightmare, the atmosphere was terrible, morne, sad, gloomy, almost nobody was motivated to dance. Having paid $600 pp is a scam Only the staff was nice.

Great experience

Great experience, best view possible with constant work of John, he did a fantastic job. His wife Lynne prepared an amazing dinner. The only thing was that the boat felt like it was at it‘s max capacity so 10 people less would be better so everyone can get a comfortable seat. View of the fireworks was amazing!

Best New Years Eve celebration

It was a wonderful evening on the Sydney Harbor. We were a family of 5. 3 adult children. The old tall sail was fabulous. When they first approached to pick us up I was concerned about the seating, but there was plenty of room. The food was good, but if you don't eat meat, perhaps bring a snack. They did provide veggie items later in the evening. Hospitality was wonderful. Everyone was so kind. Bring a sweater because it can get cold. Definitely a fantastic way to see the fireworks and get to know people and have fun. There was a performer singing great hits from 70s and 80s and some dancing too. Highly recommend it.

Amazing experience!

This truly checked off a top item on my bucket list. John maneuvered the boat so that we had a front row view of the New Years fireworks over the Harbor Bridge. In addition, the food was abundant and tasty, and there was champagne, wine, and beer flowing freely for those who wanted it. It was an experience I will never forget!

New Year's Eve on the Sundancer

My husband and I agreed that 2019/2020 would be our year for a New Year’s Eve celebration in Sydney. We booked a cruise on the sailing yacht, Sydney Sundancer through Luxury Yacht Charter. Their website promised uninterrupted views of the world’s best fireworks with a restricted amount of people on their sailing yacht, the Sydney Sundancer. This is exactly what we were looking for! And it's exactly what they delivered. All of our contact with the owners, Lynne and John Boyce, were so pleasant, and they kept us updated by email until boarding time. This is a once in a lifetime experience. The food, the company and the fireworks were fantastic!

Highlight of 2019 was being on a boat in Sydney harbour on New Years Eve and watching the incredible fireworks display. Fabulous and definitely worth the long trip providing you see more of this great country..

New Years Eve

Amazing experience. If you want to see the best views and avoid sitting on a hill all day waiting and don't want to be a bigger boat with what that brings, then this is it. Boat meanders across the harbour and moors in a great spot for the two firework displays. The food was amazing quality and the drinks flowed. The weather let us down slightly with strong winds for while, but that happens. There wasn't massive guest interaction but that's nobody's fault and pot luck who is on your evening.

Wonderful way to spend New Years Eve.

This was a fantastic evening under difficult circumstances. John and Lynne could not have done more to make us feel welcome. The view of the fireworks was second to none, even if we did have to put up a fight to keep our spot! Thanks to John and Lynne for doing this. The wind was very strong and I was amazed how the staff just carried on regardless. The standard of food was really very good and there was no shortage of drink throughout the evening. A memorable evening !

This was a great way to see in a new decade. John, Lynne and their staff were gracious hosts and did everything to make the evening wonderfully special. Our position was perfect and this was definitely a New Year's Eve to remember.

Best & Only Way To Spend Your NYE w Sydney Sundancer

Oh goodness, there do I start. BOOKING I had made travels to be in Sydney for New Years and I wanted go be on the harbour for the fireworks. Though, the easiest way is to book an evening like that with a large commercial company, being a solo traveller, I wanted the more warm, family and intimate ambiance. I read the description, contacted Sydney Sundancer to confirm if it was OK for me to take photos with my large DSLR ”professional” camera during the event. Rather than providing me a one-word response (would have been sufficient anyhow), both Lynne and John were very gracious and nice and provided some tips on what will work and what will not. DAY-OF The check in process was smooth. What I was concern was the amount of guests that we're lined up to get on the vessel. Are we really going to all fit on there (yes, we did and lots of walking room). When it was my turn to check in, John instantly remembered my name and correspondence. He greeted with smile and genuine enthusiasm which I really appreciated. The small moment made me felt like I was with family instantly. Once everyone was on board, we quickly pushed off and on the harbour to make our way to his favorite spot: buoy no. 6 (I think it was). There we stayed. What was impressive and never seen any captain done before was driving the vessel with his foot. That was impressive. Throughout the sailing and wait for the first set of fireworks, wine and spirits were consistently being refilled by crewmen/women. They were all laser focus on being sufficient at their job and in constant communication with the Captain (John). As graceful a they could, they handled the windy weather conditions very well. FOOD Please take heavy heavy note: Lynne prepared, cooked and baked all the provided (I could not get enough of the shrimp and avocado dip and lobster with macadamia sauce!) Once after the first set (2100/2115) fireworks were done (which were very impressive), Lynne and all (deck) hands sprint towards getting dinner set-up. Every course and sides were made for all diet restrictions (eg. dairy tolerant, gluten free, no pork). If I was correct, all guests came back for seconds (at least). After the second set (and it was breathtaking) of fireworks was done, coffee and cakes was served! I have never been on a vessel the size of the Sydney Sundancer that provided as much as it did in terms of food! They were prepared for everything! VERDICT I would highly recommend you to book your NYE (or any other boating occasion) with Lynne and John. They were genuinely kind, helpful and they surround themselves a wonderful and efficient team to make sure everything (in their control) run smoothly. Thank you!

Unrivalled adventure packed experience

Our experience on Sydney Sundancer exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We were looking for an affordable charter for a family of five and Clare at Whitsunday Holidays most definitely came up trumps. She was a joy to deal with, not only working through our requirements and budget to recommend Sydney Sundancer, but also in making the whole charter experience easy and seamless. She was amazingly attentive. As for our few days on board, they flew by, packed with adventures that will stay with us for long, long time. John and Lynne have been chartering in the Whitsundays for almost 30 years and it shows - they certainly know the best spots to fit the time available - we just wish we’d been able to join them for longer. In our few days aboard we: - watched whales as we cruised along - snorkelled fabulous reefs guided by Lynne - experiencing sea turtles, an array of fish and even the odd reef shark - enjoyed a unique guided reef walk (Lynne is the only permitted guide in the Hamilton area and certainly knows her stuff when it comes to the exposed reef’s low tide inhabitants) -kayaked in Butterfly Bay - visited caves with indigenous art - swam at dawn at Whitehaven beach, having the beach to ourselves for a little while! and more besides. Lynne acted as guide, photographer and wonderful chef and John as skipper, ‘Uber driver’ in the Sundance Kid and a highly entertaining and engaging raconteur. Together they were great hosts and it’s easy to see why Sydney Sundancer is Australia’s most awarded charter. While it may not be the most glamorous vessel available in the Whitsundays, it happily accommodated us in comfort and was great value. Most importantly, when it come to a family experiences Lynne and John delivered in spades - simply fabulous!

Fantastic New Year's Eve

John & Lynne created a marvelous New Year's Eve. An once in a lifetime experience! It already started when boarding the sail boat. Everybody got a name tag so it was easy for me (a solo traveller) to get to know other guests coming from all over the world (Australia, Italy, Germany, USA). That was the reason i bought a ticket on this boat. Because yes it is expensive, but it is so much worth it! After boarding we quickly got to our spot and oh my god this couldn't be better. On first sight it looked for away from the Harbour bridge but it ended up being perfect. Although the weather did not help, John did a great job keeping us on the spot in front of the bunch. You have a great view of the firework. Always thought that Harbour bridge is the only place with fire works but there is another freight ships from which fire work is launched. The food & beverage during the evening was great as well. Champagne all night long, combined with lobster as amuse, a small buffet and after we enjoyed the 21.00hrs fireworks, we were served two great cakes and a selection of cheeses. To make the service even better, John & Lynne sent us their best pictures of the evening. Keep up the good work guys!

NYE 2017 - A night to remember

I was on the Sydney Sundancer for NYE 2017 with my girlfriend and 8 other members of her family. The night will live long in the memory for the amazing view of the fireworks at 9pm and again at midnight and of the boat parade between these times. We were shown amazing hospitality onboard from skipper John, his wife Lynn and their very pleasant crew members. We boarded the Sundancer at 5pm on NYE and we sailed out under the Sydney harbour bridge (a novelty not many get to experience) passed the Opera house before settling on the edge of the harbour exclusion zone (approx 15 mins later) for the evening. The food on the boat was freshly prepared and beautifully cooked with starters, mains and desserts all available (you would come back for the food alone). The drinks were flowing all night also with a choice of beers, champagne and wine. There was 50 people on the boat in total however you could comfortably move about the boat. Every need was accommodated. After the midnight fireworks we made the return journey along the same route back to shore. A wonderful place to ring in the new year with family and friends.

Awesome New Year's Eve!

We decided to celebrate NYE fireworks on board the Sydney Sundancer. There were approxinately 50 people for this excursion that started 5:30pm-1:30am. The captain and his crew are warm, friendly and professional. They made sure everyone had fun without compromising safety. The boat is clean and well maintained. Champagne, wine, beer and refreshments were served all night. Liver pate and lobster were passed as appetizers. Dinner buffet was excellent: roast beef, turkey, ham, salmon, shrimp and oysters along with various salads. We had an unobstructed view of the fireworks. A memorable evening and the best New Year's Eve celebration. Thanks to the captain and crew for making us feel appreciated and certainly special.

"Up close and personal" watching the Start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race

After watching the start of this race from my lounge room for many years, this year I wanted to watch it on the harbour. Going on the "Sydney Sundancer" did not disappoint us! What an amazing day! John had us "on the start line", watching these beautiful boats glide through the beautiful water of the Sydney harbour. The staff were A1, serving drinks and divine dips until we went back to a cove area where we were served a scrumptuous lunch. We were then entertained by a great singer/guitarist and were able to mingle with the other guests on board. John and Lynne were extremely hospitable and gave us an "exceptional day". Thanks so much for the best boxing day I have ever experienced!

Terrific coastal cruising experience.

I was fortunate enough to be part of the crew that delivered the "Sydney Sundancer" from Sydney Harbour up to Hamilton Island, in the Whitsunday Islands, for the winter chartering season. The trip took three weeks and it was an authentic coastal cruising experience - we sailed through rough seas, with the yacht lurching from port to starboard so badly that I'll never need to go on a roller coaster ride ever again, glassy smooth seas that you hope will continue forever, through day, through night and even through fog. I saw dolphins and dugongs, Humpback whales and Hump Headed wrasse. By the end of the trip, I was sun burnt, wind burnt and salt encrusted and I discovered that I was walking like a hopeless drunk, staggering from one step to another - and continued to do so until I lost my 'sea legs'. I had small cuts over both my hands and feet and I hadn't had a decent nights sleep since leaving home - but I did it, and it was an amazing experience ! John was the perfect skipper, always patient and always more than happy to answer questions and teach by example - I'm sure the whole crew came away better sailors. Of course, not everything went according to plan and we did run into a number of issues, but that just accounted for a truly authentic experience. A wonderful experience and something that I'll be remembering and recounting for many years to come ...

One of the best Australia Day we have celebrated

Over the years we have been on a number of boats on the harbour for Australia Day This year was by far the best. John & Lynne's cruise is unique. The yacht all dressed up the 'Australian music' John & Lynnes hospitality - at the end we felt we have been friends for years. BYO food & drinks reduced the costs which for many other cruises is over the top. No wonder people mixed so well & were repeat guests We will certainly be booking again for next year. Australia Day like you've never seen before !

It was definitely the most amazing cruise I've ever had been able to join and enjoy. Lynne and John are absolutely lovely and waited on all their guests hand and foot. John is a fabulous skipper and knows the best spots and the program of the different events during the day to offer you an unforgettable experience. It's also a lot of fun given that the Sundancer competes every year for the best-dressed title at the harbour parade. The atmosphere was great, everyone socializing with everyone else. I therefore recommend this cruise and certify that you will have a fantastic day !

Fantastic New Year's Eve experience

My dad and I chose to spent New Year's Eve 2016-2017 with John and Lynne on board of Sydney Sundancer. We had the most pleasant experience. The logistics of the night were planned carefully and executed masterfully in such a way that everybody was on time and we made it to the exclusion zone just in time. John was able to get the best spot in the harbour. Period. The experience while in the boat was quite enjoyable. The food served was top notch. Our guests were generous with the alcohol throughout the night. All guests were incredibly polite and nice to each other. The hours flew by and next thing we knew, fireworks were about to start and we were in prime position to enjoy them. I truly think that, while not cheap, the experience at Sydney Sundancer is very good value. I wasn't disappointed. On the contrary, I thoroughly enjoyed the night and would definitely do it again.

Fantastic fireworks show, enjoyed under difficult conditions

We have only just returned from a fantastic 3 months holiday in Australia and New Zealand so am a little late in writing this review. We were looking forward to the New Years Eve cruise on Sydney Harbour so much but unfortunately the evening did not live up to the expectations we had for it. Let me point out that this was not all down to the Captain and his crew, who all worked tremendously hard to ensure that everyone had a fabulous time. My major concern was the size of the yacht and the number of paying guests, both my wife and I feel that in order to provide a special evening such as New Years Eve on Sydney Harbour which for many people will be a once in a lifetime experience, then there should have been fewer guests. We knew that the number of guests would be 50, but as the yacht was licensed to take 70 then we thought that there would be enough room, we are not over familiar with yachting terminology but how 70 people can comfortably enjoy any sort of party aboard a yacht of this size is beyond me. We both mixed with the other guests and from time to time gave up our seats to let others stand, but we were in the minority in this, as people did tend to hang on to their seats all night. The crew as mentioned worked extremely hard especially under the circumstances, ( there were problems with the anchor) But this did not detract from the evening, other than the longer than planned walk home after a very long night on board a small yacht. There was ample drink available, including champagne, wine and good quality beers, and the food was superb, unfortunately my wife missed the main part of the buffet as she chose the wrong time to queue for the toilet. The fireworks, as always on a New Years Eve in Sydney were second to none, and John, the Captain positioned us very well especially considering the anchor issues he was dealing with. In summary, had there been no anchor problems then my rating would have been Good, and had there been fewer guests aboard meaning more room and better mixing opportunity then the rating would most certainly have been excellent. I would recommend John and Lynn as excellent Captain and Chef, and the New Years Eve experience is one I will remember for a long time, but make sure you are happy having done your research and know what it entails.

Great way to see in New Year

We spent NYE on the Sydney Sundancer which was a great way to see in the new year with some spectacular views of the Sydney fireworks from the middle of the harbour. From the point we embarked around 5.30 ish right through to midnight and beyond drinks were free-flowing including Bollinger champagne which my wife and I drank throughout. A plentiful buffet was provided including canapés to begin, a wide selection of meat,fish and salad, and a choice of desserts. The crew were fantastic in circulating to top up glasses and serve nibbles, and were very friendly throughout the evening. The views we got were great - the boat skipper John positioned us right at the edge of the exclusion zone which meant we had unobstructed views of all the fireworks. The Sundancer had 50 guests which felt a little cramped when we first all got on but as the evening wore on it was nice to have a mix of people to talk too. Seating was at a premium so that did seem to make some people reluctant to move about. Unfortunately for John his anchor winch malfunctioned which meant he could anchor in his chosen spot. He therefore had to spend all evening manoeuvring the boat to keep our spot which he did with great skill. At the end of the evening the winch issue become more problematic as the crew had to manually lift the anchor. This took a long time and meant we were stuck in the harbour for over an hour. As a result we missed our berthing slot and had to be dropped off at another pier. This wasn't too much of a problem for us as we were staying in the CBD. The winch issue may colour some of the NYE reviews which if so is a shame as it was a bit of misfortune the crew could not have foreseen and in the circumstances they handled it well.

Great Boxing Day cruise

We booked this cruise to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. We had a wonderful day on the harbour. The owners were very friendly, the food was the best! Well presented and delicious. The staff were always there topping up your glass and meeting any needs. The only negative was that there were to many people on board. I think that it was a bit overcrowded. But all in all a very good day out.

Mixed Experience on NYE Cruise

We were on the Sundancer's NYE cruise this year. Although the boat is certified for 70 people, it was way too small for the 50 passengers they took, especially since there were only 20 actual chairs. People had to sit on ice chests other ledges throughout the boat and many stood for what turned into a 9 hour event. This was very disappointing given the $750 per person price ($700 for children). On a positive note, the captain positioned the boat perfectly for viewing the fireworks. However, given the weight of the passengers and the strong current, they couldn't get the anchor to set. Therefore, he had to maneuver the boat during the entire time. While trying to set the anchor, they broke the winch which became a significant problem when it came time to leave (more on that later). There was plenty of alcohol which was good because it kept people in okay spirits. I would warn attendees to dress more warmly as several people were wearing dresses and were very cold by the end. Once the midnight fireworks were over, it became apparent that they were having a significant problem bringing up the anchor. It took over an hour to free it from the bottom (where it had been dragging during the event) and by that time, we had missed our docking time at the pier. The captain did not seem to have a good plan B and originally was going to drop us off at the other side of the bridge than the CBD. As virtually all of the passengers were not Sydney residents, the idea of being dropped off in an unfamiliar location at 2:30 AM with no taxi's available was not acceptable. He then decided to drop us off at a different pier on the closer side of the bridge which was better but then gave only vague directions as to how to reach the CBD. Again, this was at 2:30 AM after 9 hours on a cramped boat. Most people chose to get off because they did not trust where the next landing spot might be. There were virtually no apologies given to the passengers, although the crew, not the captain or his wife, seemed sympathetic to the situation. Net net, if you want to see the fireworks, he will position the boat well but bring warm clothes, a good map and very limited expectations as to the experience. For the price, I would not recommend it.

Company Xmas Party

We have lost count, I think this was the company's 13th year on the Sydney Sundancer and there is a reason we keep coming back every year. John and Lynne are the most amazing hosts, the food never disappoints and we have the most amazing day every single time. Who can beat a day on a boat in Sydney Harbour. See you next year!

High on the Bucket List - An absolute must!

My dad is almost 70 and has dreamed of going to a Sydney to Hobart Race for almost 50 years. So you can imagine his surprise and shock when we gave him a day with John and Lynne on the Sydney Sundancer for Christmas last year. I knew from my first contact with John that I had made the right choice. John was informative and interested in my dad's story and assured me he would welcome him aboard and give him a day he would never forget and that is exactly what happened. My dad has not drawn breath since returning from his day on the Harbour. He excitedly relives the day, from boarding and meeting the other passengers, to John's masterful skill as a sailor to ensure that his boat and passengers are in the perfect position to watch the start of this iconic race, the food, the music, the photo opportunities, the wonderfully friendly and warm atmosphere and finally to his reluctance that he had to set foot back on land and that his day came to an end. What John and Lynne give their clients is an amazing day. They are not only the loveliest people to deal with but the experience and opportunity to tick the number 1 item from my dad's bucket list, to me will always be priceless. Thank you.

New Years Eve 2014

What a fantastic experience! We had an absolutely wonderful evening about the Sydney Sundancer and were looked after fantastically by John and Lynne. We had first class views of the Harbour Bridge and the fireworks. The Bollinger was flowing all night and the food was first class. I think my partner actually had third helpings of Lynne's Hazelnut and Strawberry Meringue! The most amazing way to spend New Years Eve! Thank you very much Lynne and John.

Boxing Day Sydney-Hobart 2014

This is the email I sent to John a day after the event: Dear John and Lynne I just wanted to thank you both for the terrific day we had with you yesterday. It has been a dream of mine for years to come over to Sydney to see the start of the Hobart race and this year we finally managed to achieve it. We were really just hoping for a good view and a decent day on the harbour but you delivered something way exceeding my expectations. The positioning on the start line was superb and what a start it was, I will never forget the sight of Comanche streaking down the harbour being chased by the pack of super maxis! Your crew's service and attention was excellent and the food you served was simply delicious. I know how much planning and preparation would have gone into all the detail and want you to know how much we appreciated it. All in that was the best day of the year and will take quite some beating.

Not as good as expected

It's taken me a long time to write this review. Wasn't going to till I read a couple of superb reviews. 6 of us spent New Year's Eve 2013/14 on Sundancer. We wanted to spend a special night on a boat in the Harbour and picked Sundancer after doing research on various boats and prices and were really looking forward to our night. We had come on holiday to Australia as my wife always wanted to spend NY eve in Sydney so this was our big trip. Unfortunately our night did not turn out as special as we hoped. 50 people were too many for a boat that size and give everyone a comfortable seat for an 8 hour trip. By the time we got on board we were stuck at the back with 2 plastic seats between 6 of us. The other 4 were able to sit on 2 large boxes which were not very comfortable. It was either that or stand. These boxes turned out to hold the bottles of drink and we had to get up every few minutes to allow those serving to retrieve more bottles. Ok to start with but after a while this became annoying. As the night progressed it also became evident that the bin for empty bottles and food dregs was right next to us so we had people all night either emptying bottles or plates of left over food into the bin. Could we have moved - yes but to where? Once you had a seat you hung on to it ( a lady opposite us went for food and came back to find her seat taken by someone else). And we didn't pay to stand about all night. Can't recall getting any information about health and safety but it was quite dangerous moving around either going to the toilet or going for food. I nearly tripped over twice trying to negotiate my way to the toilet and it became more of an issue as night progressed and some people got the worse for wear through drink. Someone could easily have tripped and gone overboard. I do not think Captain John or Lynne were particularly good hosts - we hardly saw them and never came round to ask whether everything was ok (he must have got wind of our discontent from the waiters) although he did come round after midnight to wish a happy new year. Perhaps we should have spoken out then but it just seemed the wrong time. Can't fault the food and there was plenty of drink all night if you wanted it although I think this should have been curtailed as some people seemed quite drunk before midnight. The night was not a total disaster but did not live up to our expectations which mainly were set by Captain John in what he said in the round of emails between us before our trip.

What a way to celebrate your birthday!

30 of us spent 4 hours on Sydney Sundanceer with John and Lynn on Saturday afternoon sailing around Sydney Harbour, celebrating 3 of our birthdays. We had an EXCELLENT time. Couldn't have been better. John and Lynn were very friendly, relaxed hosts and made us feel very welcome as soon as we stepped on the boat. The vessel itself is lovely...60ft sailing yacht with plenty of deck space to wander around and sit chatting to friend. They have a sound system with music playing throughout the boat which was great for us to be able to put on an ipod and have our own tunes. The microphone was also useful for a few cheers and adhoc kareoke! The weather was a bit wet but the canpoy covers almost the entire boat so no issues with the rain. We manageed to stop off at Doyles fish and chips to get some dinner which, was great. All the delaingsd before the day were very easy and John had some excellent suggestions and tips that made things even easier on the day...it wasn't much hassle at all being the organiser in the end. We all had a great time and I would personally love to join them in the Whitsudnays this winter. I wcna fully recomend them for any celebration you wish! Thanks very much indeed to both of you! Perfect!

We went on board to celebrate Australia Day and had just the best day. Such a great atmosphere. We want to do this every year now. We were right in the thick of the action on the harbour with ferry races and jet fly overs. Best location in the world. The captain and crew were the nicest people and very helpful and sweet and knowledgable and well organised and professional. The boat is large and easily held all of us comfortably with a covered area and it was brilliantly decorated. We were given outfits to wear and we were the first of a flotilla and won best decorated. We were singing away and waving to crowds and they waved back and we were even filmed for the news. We then stopped for a relaxing lunch and we weren't rushed. It was a perfect pace. We made new friends and couldn't believe the day was over. Loved it! Definitely recommend using these guys again without hesitation.

Perfect Sydney NYE cruise

My husband and I wanted a once in a lifetime New Year's Eve in Sydney and John and Lynne who own the Sundancer delivered on every level. We are so glad we opted for the more personal experience on a small, privately run vessel. We got very stressed out when faced with so many cruise options online and very few reviews to go on! We were treated to exceptional food including lobster, fillet of beef, smoked salmon and roast turkey. There was a free flow of the finest champagne for the whole evening (6pm -2am) as well as premium beers and wines. We could mingle with all the other guests and got a front row view of the amazing fireworks. Thank you to the crew and the owners, we will recommend this to everyone!

A New Year to Remember

A huge thank you to John and Lynne for a fantastic New Year's Eve on the Sydney Sundancer. Whilst booking the trip communication was great and we had all the information we needed. The trip itself was fantastic and great value with an amazing selection of complimentary food and drink (including free-flow champagne) provided throughout the evening served by great staff. John and Lynne did an excellent job of making sure all of the 50 guests on board were happy and having a good time. During the firework displays we couldn't have been in a better position right at the front of the exclusion zone meaning that there weren't any other boats blocking our view of the bridge and Opera House fireworks, plus we were next to one of the firework barges meaning fireworks were going off almost directly above us. It was the perfect way to celebrate the New Year and one that we will remember for a long time. If you are looking for a special way to celebrate the New Year in Sydney I would highly recommend the Sydney Sundancer.

Perfect Wedding Cruise

We were lucky to spend our time between ceremony and reception on the beautiful Sydney Sundancer in January 2013. John and Lynne who own the boat are the perfect hosts - friendly, helpful, cheeky and always smiling. Their multi-award winning yacht is perfect for a leisurely wedding cruise or to even hold your ceremony and reception on the sailing yacht. The yacht is in great nick and we loved that our wedding guests had to take off their shoes, which gave it that nautical/beachy feel. Our photos turned out wonderful and Lynne even took photos with her SLR camera and sent them to us as a memory - for free! Just lovely! John and Lynne´s communication was great from our initial enquiry until after the cruise. We were looking for a sailing boat that could host our 64 guests. As John said "it will feel as if you have a house party where people get to mingle easily as they are so close to each other". And mingling they did. We had 25 overseas guests, some who had never been to Australia before so it was the perfect way to show off our beautiful harbour and get people from different groups to interact with each other, which made the reception afterwards even more enjoyable. No groups that didn´t talk to each other. It felt very cosy. As far as I know this is the only boat that offers the option of BYO on Sydney Harbour. While we heard about the great food they offer, we had already booked a Cocktail reception offering very similar foods so decided to go for a non-food option. We loved to save a little bit on our wedding budget. We dropped our drinks to John and Lynne´s house a few days prior and they prepared everything for us including ice, glasses and esky´s. All an all it was an amazing experience. Thanks so much, Lynne & John! We can truly say that the cruise remains the highlight of our wedding day! We cannot wait to return onboard the Sydney Sundancer! In fact we are hoping for a mini honeymoon on the yacht in the Whitsundays to reminisce our fantastic day.

Outstanding and Fun Filled Australia Day Cruise on Sydney Harbour

We couldn't stop the WOW's.... They started when we saw the highly decorated yacht coming to the dock to pick us up, as from bow to stern it was decorated with Aussie Flags and green and gold one's were shimmering in the rigging. The Happy Birthday Australia Flag in the centre said it all - this was going to be a celebration. The WOW's continued as we were on the sidelines but still part of the flotilla for the Sydney Ferry Race and later the Tall Ship Parade. The provided gold smocks, large Aussie flags to pin to our fronts, small Aussie flags to wave and a giant plastic hand with the flag added to the party atmosphere. It made us proud to be Australian. John our Captain was obviously an expert sailor as we manouvered the busy Harbour and still went in and out of various bays. This was a real value for money experience and can't wait to do another one at the end of the year.

Awesome Experience on the Harbour

We were fortunate to get onto the Australia Day cruise in Sydney Harbour. The Captain John Boyce is an amazing skipper. He positioned us in some incredible spots to witness the great ferry race and we followed the flotilla all the way to the finish line under the harbour bridge. The boat was adorned with flags and decorations and Lynne (1st mate) got us all dressed up to get into the spirit of the day. We won best dressed on the harbour and had a fantastic time. Would recommend John and Lynne for a trip on the harbour as they know where to go for the best vantage spots and ensure all on board have a good time

A very special Boxing Day aboard Sundancer

Exciting, action packed, beautiful weather, stunning views of Sydney Harbour, perfect hosts & crew, new friends, gorgeous food, free flowing sparkling, wine & beer and a chance to get up close to some of the worlds fastest yachts. A totally new experience, a life time memory and a fantastic boxing day ! Thank you John & Lynne ps not only are you a top class chef but you could take up photography professionally - those you sent through serve only to remind us of an awesome day !

Boxing Day on Sydney Harbour-Fabulous Stuff

Spending Boxing Day on Sydney Harbour on the mighty yacht Sydney Sundancer with hosts John and Lynne Boyce is an extremely compelling reason to visit Sydney. Very few skippers know Sydney Harbour like John does and he has been able to provide a first rate view of the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race year in and year out. John and Lynne are wonderful hosts. John provides a commentary on what is happening during the lead up to the race start and then our hosts put on a magnificent luncheon spread for all to enjoy. I loved the way everyone kicks back over lunch and mingles and listens to the golden voice of Jack the live musician whom John and Lynne engage for this event. Truly a wonderful experience. I hope I can book a spot on the Sydney Sundancer for this great race day for years to come. John Collier
