Informative, interactive and dynamic! My tour guide speaks good English and definitely knows a lot of the facts which makes you appreciate the food and experience more.

Great way to see Chinatown and a couple of hawker centres

I enjoyed my Singapore food tour with Paul. It was nice to have a small group as it made navigating the chaos of the hawker markets easier. It was also interesting learning some of the history of Singapore. It was good to try different food items that I would not normally have tried, but some of them I would not try again (eg. Chendol). Got to try Kaja toast, haianese chicken and rice (delicious), oyster cakes (yummy), pork bakwa (delicious) etc. this tour is a good way to acclimate to the Hawker markets and give you confidence to go back on your own and try new foods.

Chinatown's hidden treasures

Ronnie was a delightful guide, entertaining us with the history of Chinatown and showing us so many hidden gems that you would never have noticed by yourself. The food was extraordinary and sooo much! During a 7km walk we ate sweet dried pork from Bee Cheng Hiang, Kaya Toast with tea/coffee, pandan chiffon cake, chicken rice with beer, masala dosa, a delicious vegetarian roll with peanuts and a shaved icecream with pandan noodles. Ronnie pointed out all the best Hawker stalls so we can find them ourselves next time, but honestly, I'd love to do this whole experience again. Amazing value with Ronnie, who's a national treasure himself!

So Much to See, So Little Time

Other than a mixup at the initial meeting point, the tour guide did a very good job of weaving history and tasty food sampling into an educational, entertaining and scenic tour all in a few hours. He saved the best for last with a stop to sample the durian fruit.

Singapore food tour

Edwin took us through Chinatown the different Singapore cultures, architecture and of course food. Wonderful tour and guide. Highly recommended. Plenty of stops with seating for anyone needing a break.

Amazing!! Edwin was incredibly helpful and had so much information. We tried lots of different types of food in a range of places, and each item was explained to us. I think this was one of my favourite things I did in Singapore!

A gastronomic, historic and cultural tour of Singapore!

Natalie was a terrific tour guide as we ate our way through Singapore. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture in Singapore. We learned a lot from her and had some excellent discussions about Singapore and its people.. The food was all unique for us and we eat almost all of it! We did not feel rushed and the day ended only because of our schedule. Thank you Natalie for a wonderful time!

A day of delicious food

Natalie was fantastic. She took us around giving us a great summary of Singapore's history. The food was amazing. I am glad I read reviews to be prepared for a lot of food. The food portions are huge so come with an appetite. Highly recommend as the first tour to your trip!

Visiting Chinatowns murals, cafes, hawker centres, Temple, all while learning about the local area, history & culture.

This was so much more than just a food tour. Edwin was very knowledgeable in the local area, history and culture, as well as in the local foods that we tried and asked about.

Australian on Tour

Edwine was full of knowledge past and present of Chinatown and Singapore in general. It was amazing to see the history of days gone by mixing with the modern day Singapore. Tasting the traditional dishes was interesting and out of my Australian comfort zone but glad I took part in this tour. My favourite was Singapore Toaste. Edwine was fantastic as our guide as he could relate to us, him having lived in Australia in the past.

Good history of Chinatown and some foods

It was Incredibly informative, and Edwine was very knowledgeable and friendly. I wish we tried a bit more different unique foods but overall was excellent.

Perfect morning - highlight of Singapore!

We had an incredible memorable morning with our guide Natalie who taught us so much about the history of Singapore and Chinatown, sampled lots of different foods (some famous bucketlist ones, and some we'd never know existed without a real local guide), and had a wonderful walk chatting and learning so much. This was a real highlight of our trip and a must do!! Huge thank you to Natalie for her warmth, humour and sharing her knowledge.

Excellent food/walking tour of Chinatown.

This was an excellent tour with a very knowledgeable guide, Tang. As advertised, we walked, were informed about the historical and cultural context of Chinatown and also sampled food that we may not have sought out ourselves. Tang was clearly well informed but also had some interesting anecdotes. We were very pleased to have signed up to this tour.

Ronnie was AMAZING

Ronnie was AMAZING. Plain and simple. Incredibly knowledgeable, not only of the food scene in Singapore, but if its history as well. It was such an unexpected treat to have him guide us through the history of Singapore, and it's food! Can't recommend enough. Well worth it's value!!!!

Outstanding Cultural, Historical, and Epicurious Adventure in Singapore’s Chinatown!

This was the most fun, interesting, and educational thing we did on our trip to Singapore! Our guide was Ronnie- he was AMAZING! He knew so much about the history of Singapore and we felt truly enriched by his knowledge and enthusiasm- this included the history of various ethnic groups and the immense struggles they had in the early days. We got to see beautiful murals in Chinatown, visited the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (gorgeous and awe inspiring!), the “Nayang Old Coffee” shop/ museum that was full of antiques from Singapore’s past (evocative and touching!), saw not just one but two Hawker centres where we had delicious chicken rice, fried oyster cake, and a shave ice dessert made with coconut milk and red beans. Everything was delicious and I only wish I had more stomach space. The Kaya toast and coffee with condensed milk was my favourite. Also the best beef jerky I have ever had in my entire life at Bee Ching Hiang! Ronnie pointed out many local sights of interest - eg film sites for Crazy Rich Asians; architectural styles of different shop houses over the decades; cute and interesting cafes and shops (including a Harry Potter themed bar). We also learned about many tragic aspects of Chinatown’s history including the opium trade, exploitation of coolie labourers, brothels and death houses. Overall an outstanding experience! Can’t wait to come back and do it again with friends! FYI- it is very warm in some of the places we went, even on a cloudy day- so try to do a morning tour, dress lightly and bring a fan. (Some spots were air conditioned but the Hawker centres were not). Thank you Ronnie and Secret Food Tours Singapore for the incredible experience!

Best Way to Get The Most Out of Your Visit to Singapore

My wife and I had a wonderful time on the food tour. We visited two Hawker food centers and tried a number of different dishes. Our tour guide (whose name I forget-sorry) was very friendly and knowledgeable of the food and overall way of life in Singapore which we found extremely fascinating. I highly recommend this tour for everyone especially at the beginning of your visit to Singapore. Just remember to prepare for a little bit of walking in the heat which can be challenging.

A diverse and delicious introduction to Singapore

We did a tour with Tang! We tried kaya toast, pandang cake, roti, Hainese chicken and more. Tang was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing tour with Tang! He was extremely knowledgeable and super welcoming of me and my fiancé. He went over and above to make sure we had a great time and an authentic Singapore experience. I would highly recommend the tour and specifically Tang.

Wonderful Food Tour in Singapore

This was one one of the best tours I’ve been on. It seemed odd to start in the morning, but it was so helpful due to the heat and gave you time in the afternoon to explore. Tang was an excellent guide. It was a perfect balance of history, culture and food. He took us to places off the beaten path and we tried a variety of foods. Do not eat breakfast before this tour. A must do tour with Tang!

Amazing Food, Amazing Experience

We had Monica as our tour guide. She was well-informed on the history of Singapore, and she knows how to keep her tour group entertained with her humour and friendly nature. This tour provides an abundance of delicious foods and history of Singapore. You’ll leave with not only a full stomach, but an open mind of Singapore’s culture and it’s historical influences. Would 100% recommend to anyone, regardless if it’s their first time in Singapore or if they’ve lived in Singapore their whole life. You’re guaranteed to learn something out of it. And of course, the food is amazing.

Small group tour with very knowledgeable and engaging guide. Even though I live in Singapore I experienced good and places I hadn’t been before.

We had a great tour of Chinatown with Natalie who didn’t let the rain dampen her enthusiasm or spoil the tour. Really enjoyed our morning spent tasting interesting food and visiting new places. A very considered experience

Our guide was Mr Paul and he was very thorough, tailored the tour to our tastes, so we got to try some foods that were not planned. Mr Paul had a wide range of knowledge, food & culture which made the experience very pleasing. Fabulous day in Chinatown

We had a great day with our guide YC. He shared so much information and delicious food with us . Our highlights of the day were the murals, coffee shop, Maxwell hawker food and the mango icy treat at the end.

Perfect introduction to Singapore’s food and its history.

It’s always difficult to find the best spots to eat like a local. This tour with Tang is the answer. I highly recommend booking if you visit Singapore or have just moved there. The tour includes a fabulous overview of Singapore’s history, diverse population, culture and of course food. It’s an easy walk around Chinatown, take a hat and wear comfy shoes. Tang was easy going and great company, he spoke of Singapore’s history in relation food and culture. He answered my many questions, and the food chosen on the day was delicious. Each dish was fresh, and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed Chinatown, the two hawker centres, the temple was stunning and I thoroughly breakfast in the cute coffee house..not telling you where it is 😉. Tang, thanks for a lovely morning. I will definitely be back and book the bike tour.

Chinatown done well

This was a very comprehensive tour of Chinatown. Our guide was full of knowledge and articulated his information clearly. A wide variety of food was sampled and the history and culture of the area was also presented. Highly recommend this tour.

Brilliant tour to sample the foods and experience Chinatown

This walking tour was fantastic. TC my guide was incredibly knowledge and friendly and he made the 3 hours very enjoyable. I liked it was a mixture of the history of Chinatown and also sampling food I never would have purchased on my own. The hawker food centers was a great experience. I would highly recommend this tour as a great way to experience Singapore!

Chinatown Food Fantastic!

This was an awesome experience! A wonderful guide who blended history and landmarks with many stops for food tasting. The day may have been rainy but it didn't dampen our spirits! I was really touched to receive a special sweet treat to celebrate my birthday! Thank you for such a memorable experience!

We had a great time. A lot of very tasty food and a wonderful guide, Zac, who made the experience even better. Would highly recommend this tour which included info on history, architecture, culture and even filming locations! Would recommend comfy shoes and keeping an eye on your whatsapp beforehand as we got a useful message with instructions on where to meet

Fantastic food tour including history and culture. A must do!

This was such a great way to see Singapore. It wasn’t just about the food, you learnt about this history and culture too. Yong Yuan Cheng was a great tour guide, spoke English really well and provided lots of extra details about each stop on the way. We sample so much we were incredibly full and got to taste more than we thought we would. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to sample a bit of everything food wise in Singapore and for those who want to understand the history and culture through food.
