Experiences we likely wouldn’t have had without the tour

A confusing start since the meeting point is just an address without indicating a building name or intersection. Or taxi driver dropped us off at the address which was not the actual meeting location. Thankfully, with a few WhatsApp messages, we were able to connect with Ben, our guide. Once we got past the meeting confusion, the tour was great! The tour brought us to hawker markets we likely would not have found or selected, and we were able to try dishes we otherwise would likely have not selected.

Great Hawker Centre Tour in Singapore

Monica made our food tour very special - with her great knowledge and attention to details we had a great time tasting delicious dishes from various hawker centres. We also learned about the area and Singapore in general which we really appreciated.

Wonderful Hawker Center Food Tour

I would give Ang and his tour 100 stars if I could! It was the highlight of my trip to Singapore and I would absolutely recommend his tour to anyone. I selected the Hawker Center food tour, and having a local expert to help navigate all the stalls and share his knowledge of the history of the centers and stalls was invaluable. Ang also made sure to explain each dish and I was amazed (and totally full!) at the end by all the new dishes I was able to try. Ang is extremely knowledgeable, funny and kind— he even learned some facts about my home city before the tour. He went above and beyond to ensure his tour was special (including providing helpful items for the Hawker Center and some Singapore souvenirs!) and I will definitely remember it for years to come!!

Amazing hawker market food tour

Our experience began before we arrived, it was our first visit to Singapore. Arthur our guide gave us great advice on where to meet and how to get there by local transport. When we met up he was full of enthusiasm and was obviously proud of his country and heritage. He showed us round and gave us loads of interesting facts and useful information. Our visit to the hawker market was exceptional, Arthur kept on bringing us dish after dish of local food staples and delicacies. He was a really nice and knowledgeable guide and we could have asked no more of him. When we return we hope to see him again for another tour. I would thoroughly recommend him and the hawker market tour.

Great way to see Singapore.

This was a great walking tour of Singapore. Suhail was our guide and he was phenomenal, so knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much about Singapore. I was a little disappointed in the food options, I felt they could have been more diverse. But, it was ok, as the tour itself was worth the $$.

Enjoyable evening

The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us much information about Singapore but we were expecting to stop at different food outlets to sample various different offerings. As it was we only sampled food, which was excellent, at the end. Having experienced a most enjoyable street food evening in Delhi we were expecting something similar.

Total experience of delicious food and culture.

This was one of the best experiences we have had. We tasted wonderful, unique food that was freshly made, and absolutely delicious. Our guide was fantastic...he regaled us with stories, the connections of culture and food and the fascinating history of this delightful city. We so enjoyed our experience of the color, the vibrancy and the authentic flavors of Singapore. Thank you, Hundred, for a memorable experience. We highly recommend this tour.

Immersing yourself into Thai culture through food

Marcus provided wonderful explanations and the food choices for our tasting were great. He took the time to accommodate my mobility issues and my son’s vegetarian diet. The tour of the temple was very educational and enjoyable.

Must do Singapore experience

Our family of 6 including a 10 year old had a wonderful and insightful tour with William through Chinatown’s hawker markets! We tried a few delicious local specialties and learnt a lot about Singapore and its culture. Highly recommend William as your tour guide.

Excellent

Marcus Yeo from Withlocals was an amazing tour guide on our Private 3 hour Singapore Food Tour. He provided numerous information about the history of Singapore and was patient. Plus, the food and beverage tastings were delicious, and the servings were really good portions. Enough food and drinks for lunch or even dinner. Well Done Yeo.

Delightful food tour with our guide Ang.

Ang was expert at winding through the various Hawker markets and finding tasty local dishes for our family to try. It was an awesome memorable experience.

Food tour was awesome, but guide was even better

Our tour guide was Monica and she was outstanding. We had one member of our group that is gluten intolerant and Monica was extremely helpful in finding options that matched the dietary requirements. Monica was friendly and outgoing and knowledgable about Singapore and about its food history and culture. She was also very good at getting us tables at the busy lunch time hour. We had a wonderful time and would definitely ask for Monica on any return trips.

Amazing food and culture from someone that knows a lot about both.

Ang was such a great tour guide. Not only did he lead me to the best tasting food, but he also gave me some cultural and history lessons along the way. It was fascinating learning about Singaporean culture from this 3rd generation Singaporean. Plus he was interested in knowing more about where I was from. He made sure I tried all of the traditional Singaporean dishes until I was more than full. Next time I am in Singapore I will be booking another tour with Ang.

The tour I was hoping for!

It was not that easy to find a night-time hawker center tour, but WithLocals has the flexibility I was looking for. Grayson is a great tour guide—fun, informative, and obviously loves Singapore and its famous cuisine. Highly recommend!

Singapore never tasted so good!

Jon was a wonderful tour guide! His selection of foods and insight to the culture and country were perfect. There was so much food we couldn’t eat it all, and the stories and interactive questions made the time fly. Well worth the price we paid. He also offered advice on other things to do and explore. He answered all our questions. After this private tour, it felt like we had a new friend. Highly recommend, you won’t be sorry!

Chingmeng is awesome!

Hands down, we had an incredible time with Chingmeng. We learned so much about Singaporean culture, history, and food. Chingmeng is professional, knowledgeable, patient, and fun! We enjoyed every moment with him and highly recommend his services to anyone visiting Singapore. This country is unique and beautiful in many ways, and we are grateful that Chingmeng showed us around and taught us so many cool new things about it.

Amazing hawker food tour experience!

My experience with Ang was exceptional! His knowledge of Singapore's history and its food scene was impressive. He enthusiastically answered all my questions, showing his passion for what he does. The tour was fantastic, and I left each hawker center feeling satisfied. The first one we visited was Singapore's largest hawker center, followed by my favorite where I tried the famous chicken rice Anthony Bourdain raved about. The last stop introduced me to a delightful dessert called chendol, made with shaved ice, coconut milk, and toppings. Overall, Ang's tour was amazing, and I highly recommend Ang! ☺️

The Best!

Our wonderful experience with HJ was truly remarkable! With his guidance, we were able to explore the country's wonderful cuisine and rich historical landmarks. Additionally, HJ took us on a wonderful tour of the local neighborhoods and was incredibly accommodating to our flexible needs. We even expressed our interest in visiting a rooftop for a picturesque city view and going antique shopping, which he graciously arranged for us. The food-tasting experience was absolutely fantastic and truly gave us a genuine Hawker Center experience.

A fantastic local food experience with my personal guide JonXu.

I was lucky enough to book a personalised tour with JonXu at the last minute. Jon gave me great directions to get to our meeting point. Our tour was not only about the food but the history of the area and the local attractions. We went to a couple of markets and I sampled so many local dishes including, Roti prata, lime juice, Hainanese chicken rice, rice flour with preserved radish, soup dumplings, popiah spring roll, fried kway teow, ice kacang and kaya toast. Jon shared his personal experience as a local which made the tour even more enjoyable. Jon accompanied me to the MRT and helped me navigate my way back to my hotel. A memory making day. Ghosted.

Unfortunately, we can't really review the tour because our guide never showed up. We waited 30 minutes, and then wandered through the food halls ourselves. Pretty disappointing experience. The outfit refunded us quickly, but presumably due to conversion rate fluctuations we ended up not getting our full amount back. We got an apology and that's about it. :(

Yummy food and great tour guide

Grayson was an incredible tour guide. Not only did he share history about each dish, he also delved into the history and culture around Singapore. He has a gentle manner, which makes asking questions approachable. I would recommend his tour to anyone who is new to Singapore or who wants a true hawker experience.

Amazing food experience!

One of our favorite food tours we’ve ever done (and we’ve done a few…). William was an absolute gem - he was so friendly and passionate about the culture and food of Singapore, and he got us to love it too. We visited 3 separate Hawker Centers, each with a different flair. At the beginning, he takes you around the periphery of each center, pointing out some favorites along the way (for future visits!). He then jumps in a few lines for you while you sit back and take in the scenery. Your only job is to relax and enjoy the food! Our only regret was that we weren’t able to book a longer tour! Would recommend to EVERYONE visiting Singapore, even if you’re already familiar with Hawker Centers. A highlight of our entire trip.

History, culture, and food tour.

Grayson provided both a historical and culinary tour of Singapore. He has a calm demeanor and let us take our time to enjoy and the sights and tastes of Singapore. We enjoyed the murals in Chinatown and the Victorian architecture at Lau Pa Sat. he made sure to explain the historical perspective from a local Singaporean of each site we visited while we were walking around. We finished on time despite Grayson having to wait awhile to get food from the popular stalls with long queues.

Magnificent

We had such a great time with Monica, her passion and knowledge of Singapore was extensive and informative. We experienced different types of hawker centres from out of the way local eateries to tourist hawker centres. We definitely recommend a tour with Monica, she goes way beyond your regular tour guide.

William is an excellent guide and a very lovely gentleman

Intelligent, informed with excellent communication skills, our "Taste of Singapore, Hawker Center Tour" with William was one of the best tours we've ever had. Not only did we learn about the local food...(which was fantastic) but as we moved from one part of the city to the next, we also learned so much about the history, people and culture of this amazing city state. William enjoys meeting and talking with newcomers and we all appreciated his enthusiasm. A lovely, kind, knowlegable gentleman, our family of 4 highly recommends William for you next tour in Singapore.

Waste of Time!!!

Guide never turned up!!! Sent a couple of texts to the guide (Kenny) to see if we were in the wrong place. After 45 minutes of waiting, we left and went to a food court. No reply even after a day or so just to acknowledge he got them. Contacted company for answers. Got a quick reply from them but no follow up with what they found. In hindsight, we should have done it ourselves

Let Monica give you a tour!

Monica was so wonderful. She was on time, so friendly, communicated beautifully and knows the city incredibly well. She had an agenda planned but offered to change or amend anything that I may want to taste or see. You knew the history behind every food I tried and every site we visited. A special talent of Monica's is that she realizes how hot and humid walking around is, so she made sure to stay in the shade 99% of the time so I would be as comfortable as possible. While I loved the food, history and sites, the real draw was meeting Monica. I made a wonderful new friend. My time with Monica was the highlight of my trip! Great tour all around! Monica is a STAR!

A Guide Who Enjoys being a Guide!

We have taken many tours over our travels, but Monica stands out. The tour in of itself was wonderful, but Monica made it exceptional. She is engaging and funny and a true joy to be with. Great tour, great time!

Introduced me to new and interesting food

I’d highly recommend this tour. Monica was my delightful guide and her knowledge of not only Singapore but also the food we ate was fantastic. We visited three different food precincts and ate a few different dishes at each. Monica was able to give me a great insight into what locals eat and I ate things I would have never otherwise tried. She even helped me get on the train to the airport which was so helpful and kind of her. There’s nothing like meeting a local when traveling.

Chinatown & hawker markets tour

We had an excellent evening tour with Grayson around Chinatown and the hawker markets. He was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out sites that we would not see on our own. He took it at our pace but we saw loads. The food was great and he provided lots of background to the dishes. It was a great introduction to Singapore and its food.

Delicious Tour - Highly Recommended

The tour was great - Kenny not only took us to get some amazing food but also provided the history about Singapore and the food we were eating. Kenny was great at answering our questions and I would highly recommend this tour.

Private Foodie Tour Exceeds Expectations

Our guard Arthur communicated prior to our visit. He was on time and met as at the location discussed. We walked around China town and he gave us the history of Singapore and how it came to be built. Next up was the Hawker Food Centers - he ordered us a wide variety of tasty food and delicious coconut water. We tried the famed “Chicken and Rice” which is much more than just chicken and rice. He also told us how to eat the food with the different sauces. Next up, he took us to the famed Marina Sands. He had a special spot for the best photo op. He also told us about the famed casino and different shops. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Arthur and would book again.

Great tour with Grayson

Grayson was a most gracious host. We met him at the top of the escalators, Exit A of the Chinatown MRT station. He showed us interesting little details which we would never have seen in Chinatown on our own, such as the hole in the floor above a doorway, gave fascinating historic facts about the shop houses, took us around the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, showed us where we could use the bathroom, found tables for us at the hawkers centres (and in the shade), bought very different and traditional foods for us to try, walked at a good pace and was easy to understand. I would highly recommend this tour.

Delicious and informative!

I had a great time walking around learning a little more about Singapore! All the food was amazing, China Town was especially delicious! The host was lovely and very knowledgeable, also let me try food I was interested in!

Great guide and food!

HJ was great! We were super excited to try whatever he brought to the table and he did not disappoint! Super patient with our less then enthusiastic kids while my husband and I enjoyed everything we tried. He was very friendly and we enjoyed the little extra tidbits he showed us around the area.

Singapore slow paced walk tour with food as a bonus

Your guide was on time and communicated through WhatsApp which was good. Didn’t really pay attention to the specific street address as Google didn’t match that, just made our way to Exit A for the MTR and no issues. Three stops for food, all yum. Great knowledge of history for Chinatown, Financial district and general knowledge of Singapore culture and lifestyle across generations. Slow paced and very easy to keep up. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Great goodie tour, maybe a little overpriced.

William reached out prior to the tour date to introduce himself and confirm our meeting place, and was there early to greet us. His knowledge of Singaporean food and culture was outstanding and his tasting choices were excellent. The detour through the temple was amazing!

No show from the rep. Tried to delay our trip to later.

Arrived at the requested location at the time specified. The tour rep was not present, we gave him 10 minutes before calling. He answered rather confused and said we were at the wrong place. I informed him I was at the location that was listed on the ticket instructions. He asked what tour I was on, I told him and he apologised saying someone will be there "in a minute". 5 minutes later I get a text message saying he's running late and can we meet at a time 45 minutes later. I told him not to bother, we requested a refund through trip advisor and googled "the best places to see in Singapore Chinatown" and "best hawker markets in Singapore". Disappointing.

Great tour of Chinatown!

A private tour through most of Chinatown is the way to go! Our tour guide HJ was wonderful. He planned a great half day for us that included many dishes at two hawker centers, walking tour of Chinatown and a tour of the Singapore City Gallery (a great museum of the history of how the city of Singapore planned and its future). HJ had wonderful energy, was thoughtful and very good communicator. He even sent us emails of suggestions on things to see and do.

Ronnie was a great host and gave us a wonderful tour of Singapore’s history, culture and food. He made every effort to ensure we got to taste local specialities and was unfailingly courteous, friendly and cheerful. I would recommend him absolutely!

A great insight into Chinatown

HJ was a fantastic guide to show us some of the hidden gems of Chinatown, which is his backyard. He did a great job picking delicious food for us to try, and to explain the history/background of the food and how it relates to Singapore. He was also very patient with our kids. Would highly recommend!

A food tour plus more

We enjoyed several hours wandering around the hawker markets and food halls on a foodies tour with Jon. Seeing the whole area from an insider’s perspective was great. Meeting and speaking with vendors, learning lots of historical aspects, and a great variety of food to boot, made it a true experience.

Singapore Hawker Food Tour

My fiancée and I had a wonderful evening with Jon on our private Singapore food tour. He was an enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable host who told us all about the culture and history of Singapore and gave us loads of handy tips about the city. We walked through the markets and took plenty of stops as he explained interesting facts about the different groups of immigrants who made Singapore the diverse city it is today, and we tried amazing food influenced by the Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures. Jon asked us questions and kept the tour really interactive. He was always on hand with a wet wipe to ensure we were able to clean up after eating and was a genuinely fun host. He even went the extra mile so we could celebrate my birthday on the night, which made it a very special evening and took loads of photos at various points so we can remember the evening and post on Instagram! There was plenty of food to eat, including five good sized mains and then other snacks and desserts along the way. Overall, this was a fantastic tour, great for families and couples who are interested in finding out more about Singapore. It's not too long and the walking was manageable and it was made by Jon being a very attentive host. We'll always remember our visit to this interesting city on my birthday, thank you!
