Gerry is a great guide. He has an intimate knowledge of local food and cultures and gave us a lot of information about the history of Singapore and its food. The small group meant we could talk to Gerry on a personal level and ask a lot of questions. Highly recommend.

Amazing tour. Gerry is communicative all throughout the process (before, during, and after your tour). He leads an engaging small group. He is knowledgeable yet approachable. You could also immediately tell he was a man of character. Taking his tour felt like a friend was showing you around town. This was all in addition to the delicious food and drink experienced. Do not hesitate. This is the experience to book!

Unforgettable Day and Guide.

This experience was unbelievable. I don’t usually do reviews but Gerry , our guide was fantastic. This is much more than a food tour which in self was beyond expectation. The culture and past historical pictures Gerry shared helped complete the stories. Gerry will introduce you to friends he sees during the tour. I mean we were shaking hands with locals that greeted you with big smiles. My advice, take this tour early in your visit. Go with an empty stomach. And don’t cheat yourself with any other guide than Gerry. Again, I don’t usually do reviews. But this tour is very impressive and a huge winner.

Food tour in Singapore

At each of the three neighborhoods we visited our guide Gerry had us speak with local people. The food he ordered for us was delicious. Gerry was very knowledgeable and showed us what the neighborhoods looked like in the past.

Fantastic 3 Ethnic Neighborhoods Tour

Gerald was a great tour guide. The tour was super fun and very well organized. All the tour participants bonded over the ethnic food and drinks that were part of the activity. I would highly recommend this tour. It is excellent value for money.

would have to say this tour with Gerald (Gerry) was the best I have been on. The passion and knowledge he has is wonderful. He was very generous with his time and he's food choice were delicious. we were all entertained by he's stories and the love of he's community. picked us up at the hotel and sent us home is a grab car, would recommend this tour to all my friends, ask for Gerry best tour guide ever.

Great Tour Guide

Gerry, the guide, was great. Took excellent care of everyone in the group. Native of Singapore with lots of information and opinions. We enjoyed the food of Little India in particular. The food in Chinatown was just okay--not a lot of flavor--but lots of it . All in all, though, it was a good experience.

Great tour!

Very interesting and informative tour! Plenty of great food to sample…you won’t be left hungry. Wear comfortable shoes as your is mostly walking. But quick trips on tram and bus were pleasant. Gerry was great!

World-class introduction to multicultural Singapore

When I booked this tour, I was under the impression that it covered food from three cultures: Chinese, Indian, and Malaysian. What I didn't anticipate was the immersive experience provided by our excellent guide, Gerry Tan. He shared so much history and so many cultural insights as we wound our way through Singapore to the various neighborhoods. High points for me were the opportunities to connect and talk with local people from different cultures at various points along the way: the halal meatcutter, the vendor sorting seed pods for soaking and grinding into sauce, the tailor, and others. The tour moved at a pace that gave me time to stop and do a bit of shopping. It offered my husband and me a richer experience than we could have imagined -- very memorable and highly recommended.

Amazing Tour

Gerry met us early in our hotel and it was perfect because we were ready. We picked up some others along the way and dropped off at the first Market and Hawkers area. It was so interesting to see the local culture seeing their fresh fish, meats and produce and we then went to the Hawkers area where we were offered many local dishes. Wow so much food and such great flavors. All along the way Gerry explained the culture and significance of the area. Sad to hear that the youth don’t want to continue the tradition. Next we went to the local Chinese Hawkers and learned about their foods and are many more delicious dishes. The food that was untouched by us. Was given to a poor man to take home to his family. Gerry is very conscious about gibing back to the people and supporting the local businesses. There was no push to purchase anything and he paid for us to ride the metro and bus to transfer between stops. So helpful for the rest of our stay!! Finally we went to see the Mosque and a temple. As Ramadan is on Wednesday, many of the locals are fasting and was interesting to chat with locals as we sat eating our Gelato for dessert. Gerry said get as much as you want, which most of us had one scoop because food was more than plentiful all day!! After our last stop he paid for our taxi anywhere we wanted to go in. the city. What a great gesture!!! I highly recommend him!!

Worth every penny

Worth every single penny! He provided insight that only a local would know. He answered all our questions and was extremely sensitive to our food allergy needs. Picked us up from our hotel in a taxi and then we did a little walking with a cab ride back.

Amazing educational/cultural experience

What an amazing experience. Gerry was a fabulous guide. His knowledge and experience was second to none. Information and food were incredible. Something we would never have got by ourselves. Fantastic tour - lots to learn and lots to eat!

Amazing food tour with Gerry - he really showed us so much in the course of the day. Heaps of food, culture, history and great company. Can't recommend this tour highly enough. Definitely a better option - and better value - than the 3 hour tours.

Exploring the tastes of India and the temple were highlights. Aldo the cultural scene there and the hawker food scene went above and beyond my expectations. Great food tour!

Great tour of three of Singapore's fascinating neighbourhoods. Led by Gerry, who proved to be both knowledgeable and entertaining we learnt a great deal while sampling far more great food and drink than we had expected. We couldn't eat it all! Totally recommend this tour.

A Great Tour

Gerry has done a great job in pairing a taste of ethnic Singapore with its history. We throughly enjoyed our time with Gerry as he took us into Little India, Chinatown and Malay sections of Singapore via walking, the transit system and bus and sampled street food and the sights and sounds of each district while schooling and entertaining us. He promptly met us at our hotel and we joined 3 others to take our trip and then by taxi Gerry saw us back to our hotel. Gerry is very personable and it is evident that he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences in his home country. We highly recommend his tour not least of which is the effort that he puts into making it fun.

Amazing!

What an amazing tour! Gerry is so personable, knowledgeable and passionate about Singapore culture. The culture aspect was very informative and interesting and the food was SO delicious. So many of the things that I tried were the best I’ve tasted. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you are a foodie and you don’t have very much time in Singapore. Also, it is definitely worth the price. Jerry keeps you well fed (and tipsy :)) He also provides transportation to each place. Please don’t miss this!!

What an amazing way to spend the day exploring Singapore’s ethnic neighborhoods learning about the local culture and eating the local cuisine. Gerry is a fun guide and shares his knowledge and enthusiasm. We highly recommend the tour especially if you want to experience local places you wouldn’t find on your own or know what to order. A great blend of local culture and cuisine in a fascinating city.

Delicious Food Experience

Gerry is a fabulous guide! He knows the neighborhoods we traveled to, knows the people at the various stops, and describes the foods and cultures with such clarity! In addition, he provides transportation to and from the locations so we did not have a chance to worry about getting lost. I would highly recommend this excursion if you like to experience authentic local cuisine!

Fun time, great tour.

A great way to familiarize yourself with Singapore and its diverse cultures. Our guide Gerry was very thorough and helpful answering our questions and giving us some insight into living here. This is primarily a food tour and you will definitely get your fill of the great tasting food available at the hawker stalls. Gerry takes you on public transportation (train and bus) which for my wife and I, was valuable to us for the next few days of our visit. Highly recommended by us, thank you Gerry.

Amazing Singapore

If you do only one tour of Singapore, make it this one. The 6 hour tour is planned and conducted by Gerry. He is a native of Singapore and very knowledgeable of its history, cuisine, and culture. You will experience authentic Indian, Malay, and Chinese food from local vendors. All of it excellent and in quantities that will preclude the need for dinner that day. You will visit all three ethnic neighborhoods and learn about their history and culture. One of the things I really enjoyed was that while it is a walking tour, you also travel by van,subway, and bus thereby experiencing Singapore's excellent transit systems. Gerry is a very capable and solicitous guide, in frequent communication with you the day or two before your tour, and checking constantly with you during the tour to get your feedback and preferences. It is also an excellent value, considering you won't need any other meals that day. I highly recommend!

Best tour in Singpore

Our favourite tour we did during our stay in Singapore! Gerry was great company; kind and passionate - we learnt so much about Singapore, its background and cultures. We got taken around three local food spots, all were great, the hawker centre in China Town was our favourite.

Unforgettable combination of food, culture and history

We’ve taken food tours around the world and this was one of the best we’ve ever experienced. Jerry (our tour guide) provided a combination of food, culture and history that was unforgettable. We would highly recommend this tour as a great way to spend a day getting to know the three most significant immigrant communities of Singapore. We started with a walking tour of the Chinese quarter, including ample time to shop through a couple different street venues. Our first meal was in a Chinese hawkers location, and Jerry provided a variety of Chinese delicacies from a half-dozen stalls. They were very good to outstanding with my favorite being the Hainanesse Chicken and the Fried Black Carrot Cake, which is a savory dish more like kung pao chicken than the traditional Western-style dessert its name implies. We took the subway to Singapore’s Little India neighborhood where Jerry lead us through several shopping areas. Lunch was at a sit-down Indian restaurant that was as good as any we’ve ever eaten at. The tikka masala and curries were especially delicious. Our final stop was the Malaysian quarter, which we reached by city bus. Our final meal on the tour was gelato on Haji Lane, which has become a popular shopping street and backdrop for social media influencers. The shop served many flavors you wouldn’t find at an Italian gelateria such as red watermelon soursop and blue pea hokkaido creme brûlée; the four we tried were great.

Best food/culture tour ever!!!!

We were fortunate to have Gerry as our guide. His knowledge of Singapore its multicultural history and its three ethnic areas brought Singapore to life. His engaging personality made this the best tour we have ever taken. Gerry was warm to us, and had obvious sincere relationships with the diverse people/merchants and restaurant staff he/we came upon. The hours passed too quickly. We loved the food; the stories Gerry told; and the “locals” we met. The food was great and plentiful. We enjoyed meeting 87 year old Charlie, and a restaurant worker who had heard he just became a father the day before. Gerry certainly made our trip to Singapore a most special one. We wished the world had more Gerry’s. Our Country could benefit greatly adopting some of the qualities of Singapore, as well as the great way of everyday life/living. Bottom line: Do this Tour!

This tour was so wonderful! We were picked up from our hotel on time and the communication was great with Gerry! We saw so much of Singapore! It was great to have a local guide show us around and take us to great places to eat!

Gerry was WONDERFUL! We talked for hours about the culture, the food, the history, the religions of Singapore, everything we had questions about. Gerry was very knowledgeable and engaging. He took care of every detail making sure that we were comfortable and and really enjoying ourselves. We really loved the Hawker centers, and after Gerry's tour we were comfortable enough to go back on our own the next day to do more shopping and food exploration. We love walking tours and have done many in different countries. Gerry's tour is definitely one of the best we've ever done.

Did the tour yesterday it was fantastic! Jerry our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable,funny and loves to share his city with you. Food was excellent. Stops at the Buddhist Temple, Wet Market in Little India and two hawker centers were very informative. I highly recommend this tour.

We did the tour today. It was great. We can highly recommand it. The guide Garry did really well. He is a good guide. As a native Singaporean he knew everything and everyone in the city. On the tour we went to the different ethnic neighbourhoods and tried the local food there. We were able to eat lots of different dishes and to see how the cooked it.

You Will Not Miss with this Experience

Wow!!!!! What a phenomenally informative, fun and bountiful time we had with Gerry. Having a Graduate degree in History, 14 years of experience, personal relationships with the various vendors, and an awesome disposition, makes him the perfect guide to escort and inform you for the in-depth experience he has to offer! Your journey with Gerry will take you to locations of the usual tourist path in Singapore to visit Hawker courts where the locals go under their apartment complexes. The transition from location to location is accomplished on foot and via buses and subway, which he has organized to perfection. Do not think you are going to walk away hungry from this trip...even with all the walking. We returned from this experience to our hotel with very full bellies. ALL of the food he placed in front of us at each of the locations was delicious and superabundant. Gerry covers everything ($) you eat and drink on this excursion except for the trinkets you buy along the way. Excellent Trip

Best food tour and MORE!

Gerry was simply the most talented and genuine guide on our ethnic food tour we have ever had. We always do a food tour when we visit a new city and this was by far the best. He not only took us to sample food in three different areas but he taught us how to use the subway’s and bus lines to get there. As we walked thru the different areas he showed us pictures of how the areas had developed and the trends moving forward in each area. Anyone traveling to Singapore should seek out this tour as a way to be introduced to the food, culture and the way to truly experience the most multicultural city we have visited.

One of our favorite tours while in Singapore! Our guide Gerry was phenomenal and really made this whole experience. It felt like touring Singapore with a friend vs a guide. He was so knowledgable about the history of each site and had some great, insightful conversations as a group. From Chinatown, to Little India to Sultan Mosque in the Malay neighborhood. Even the rain didn't dampen the day. What a truly wonderful experience, and it was all thanks to Gerry - highly recommend! Especially as a first timer in Singapore, this was a great way to see the different neighborhoods, their culture and their history in Singapore!

A must do to get your bearings in singapore

Gerry was amazing, very approachable and down to earth and willing to share his experiences with us so we could better understand Singapore; its culture, food and way of life. I have been on many food tours but nothing compares to this! Hands down the best mix of getting to know the location and their foods. My partner and I went back to one of the spots in China town for lunch the next day because it was just that good! Just a tip, there is a bit of walking to see as much as we did so be prepared for this and wear comfy shoes/clothing :)

Authentic Food Tour with Gerry 🤗

Amazing experience! Very authentic dive into the underground food scene of Chinatown, Little India and the Malay quarter. Could not be happier with Gerry very lovely start to my honeymoon. Would definitely do again if we come back to Singapore.

So worth it!

We had an amazing time. So much more food that I was expecting! We went to Chinatown, little India, Haji lane, and Arab street. This was the perfect way to see the different cultural areas of town and try foods I never would have known about before. I highly recommend this tour. Gerry was so knowledgeable and made it fun.
