Great Experience

We participated in this class our first full day in Bali and it set very high expectations for our trip. Tommy, our chef/instructor was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and animated. Would 100% recommend this experience. The food was absolutely incredible. Being non-cookers, we had no idea we were even capable of making such delicious food!

Delicious and fun

We created such a delicious banquet of authentic Indonesian food under the guidance of our entertaining chef and teacher Tommy. A great way to spend the morning and lots of fun. Highly recommend!

Fabulous cooking experience, starting with a market walk soaking up the sights and smells of Bali and then putting all of those spices into action with the chopping and grinding to make the paste as a base for some fabulous fish, meat and veg dishes. Everybody gets a work station and is fully involved all the way through. And then you get to eat the feast at the end! Would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Must do experience in Seminyak

10/10 experience, the chef Komang was absolutely class - really funny and engaging and knowledgeable. So much fun to watch him cook and to help with the cooking, was like being a kid again! We booked on to the veggie class as we wanted an afternoon class and that was the only one on this afternoon- but as we weren't actually veggie the chef also told us how to make it with meat and gave us chicken satay skewers at the end as well. And there was so much food at the end - we barely made a dent in it but they let you take home extras and you get the cook book. Really recommend it, especially if you get Komang!

Great experience!

I truly enjoyed this experience. A LOT of food, and it was good food. We prepared several dishes and it was a lot of fun. Children and adults were in my group and we all got along and had fun. There's a shopping area/flea market right outside the restaurant so make a little time for that if you enjoy that. I would definitely take the class again. You won't leave hungry.

Warung Nia Cooking Class is a Must

My wife and her daughter don’t like spicy food and are not confident cooks. But we all had a great time, learnt things that we are keen to take home and try and her daughter ate things (and loved them) that she would never have done before. This was a great way to spend an afternoon, but do not eat before you go!

First cooking class

My first cooking class and it was a great day! An experienced and knowledgable chef who guided us and gave some great tips on how to cook some local Indonesian dishes!

Entertaining morning learning about Balinese cooking and cuisine.

Fabulous morning commenced with a free hotel transfer to market to meet our host Tommy at the local market. We discussed ingredients used in local Balinese cooking and Tommy recommended substitutes we could use in our home country (impressive with 5+ nationalities represented in the group). Mixed group of families, couples and singles ages ranged from 13-50+, everyone was involved in the food preparation. Tommy kept it entertaining with great humour and plenty of cooking tips and tricks. Highly recommend - suitable for people of all ages.

Enjoyable cooking and delicious lunch

Very wonderful experience with my 10 year old when my wife went for spa. The cooking process was very enjoyable. Lunch was big and super delicious. Both of us enjoyed so much!

A brilliant morning

We had a great time at the cooking class today. It was extremely well organised and the chef made it good fun. Everyone got to participate in bits along the way and the meal at the end was fantastic. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Learning how to cook Balinese food

The chef running the whole day made the experience incredible, so much passion a great educator. The food was produced was amazing, then sitting down with our table buddies to enjoy our meal. Meeting people from all over the world we had groups from Australia, USA, South Korea and France all who enjoy food and cooking it

Best food experience in Seminyak

From being picked up from our hotel to getting our certificate. The whole experience was amazing. The insights into Balinese cuisine and food was super insightful. The interaction from all the staff at the cooking school was excellent and our chef was just unreal. We could not recommend this higher than a 5 star rating. So good.

Wonderful Experience

Four of us did this cooking class it was so much fun starting at a market and learning about Indonesian spices and vegies and different ways of chopping for different recipes Tommy was a lot of fun and the result was delicious

Well organized and fun activity

It is very nice way to know Balinese cuisine. I am a solo traveller and it was a good way to know people from different countries. All staff is very nice and attentive. Chefs are knowledgable.

Chef Tommy God Bless

A highlight of our trip in Bali. Chef Tommy was a hoot with a southern American accent boot. We had a ball would highly recommend it even if never done a cooking class before like me. The market visit was friendly and just brief enough and the cooking, training and service was a very high standard, overall was a great learning experience I highly recommend. Big up the Nia Bali team.

Fun activity for my whole family. Cooking authentic Balinese food in a great atmosphere. Lots of laughs. Informative. Finishing the class with a delicious meal.

Brilliant cooking class

Highly recommend doing this class, it’s was a great insight into Indonesian culture and food, plus it’s was a wonderful morning. Tommy was hilarious and his crew were so organised and helpful. We meet some lovely people and got to enjoy a feast at the end, plus a recipe book to take home for future cook ups!! Can’t wait!!

Fun morning cooking class

Had one of my more memorable experiences in Bali taking a cooking class on the final day. We started with a tour of the market then went to the restaurant where we had instruction in making 12 different Balinese dishes. Tommy, our instructor, kept things interesting and fun throughout the morning and the food turned out pretty delicious. Like that we get a cookbook at the end.

Nia’s cooking class Seminyak

Nia cooking class Seminyak was the best experience, my husband and I learnt a lot from Tommy the chef, he’s fun and very knowledgeable about his craft. Visited the market before we start the class. Food was delicious, flavours amazing. You meet people from other parts of the world. All in all a great experience and I would highly recommend Tommy’s cooking class.

Great experience

My friend and I had a marvelous time. She was very unsure she would enjoy it, but she did.!! Tommy was informative, funny, and extremely knowledgeable.

I am an executive chef with 20 years of experience. Food is, of course, a major part of my vacation in Bali. This cooking class did not disappoint. Chef Tommy is a master of his craft and broke down everything systematically, culturally, and put everything into perspective to everyone in the class no matter where they came from. He related to individuals with such keen knowledge and understanding and broke the course down to where you can feel where the passion and roots of the cuisine grew - from the different types of gingers/galangal to even -why- their coconut oil kicks a$$ more than the western counterparts. Needless to say, from the novice home cook to even the highest level of culinary echelons, anyone and everyone can learn from this class. It was fun. It was funny. And it was fantastic. I am a better chef after this one for sure.

So nice we've been here twice!

This is both a fabulous cooking class A great experience and a wonderful lunch. The little market tour introduces you to what you'll be using for cooking and will certainly get you to a place that you wouldn't go to otherwise. Then the cooking and the fun begins with everybody joining in and so many dishes prepared that everyone's going to take charge of at least one of them. Our chef Tommy was quite the character too. (Excellent work, thanks Tommy). At the end of the day this whole experience, including being picked up from our Villa, cost us what we would have spent for lunch and the lunches.. oh my God... AMAZING

So much fun!

What a fun and cultural experience! Our instructor, Tommy, was so much fun, and taught us about several traditional ingredients and dishes. I am vegan, and although there is a vegan class, I was unable to attend it, so they graciously accommodated me into the non-vegan class, putting single portions aside for me to cook along with the others, which I truly appreciate!! Thank you so much Warung Nia for this lovely experience!

A culinary delight!

The whole experience was awesome from a visit to the market first - smelling & learning about our ingredients to preparation & ultimately eating the amazing food we prepared in groups- so much fun….& we got a little souvenir cookbook- well worth it - thank you

Our instructor Tommy Ford was very knowledgeable about the culture and history behind the cuisine, but he was also extremely funny and made the experience fun and enjoyable. Also everything we made was delicious! I highly recommend.

Fun cooking experience

My husband and I had loads of fun with chef Tommy and the group on our cooking class. Starting at the local market then on to a fantastic equipped outdoor kitchen Tommy took us thru about 12 Indonesian dishes. It was fun and Tommy was a perfect fit with his great personality and professional cooking skills. Would highly recommend this!

A must do experience

My husband and I recently attended this cooking class. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to a local market where Tommy (head chef) took us through and educated us on Balinese foods and traditions. We then went to the restaurant to cook up 12 amazing Balinese dishes. Tommy was an amazing host. The whole experience was fantastic. And the food was delicious!!! Highly recommend... a must do while in Seminyak.

An amazing authentic balinese experience

I have always wanted to do cooking class while travelling and this experience was fantastic from the hotel pick up, the balinese market tour to discuss local ingredients and balinese rituals, preparing the ingredients and sharing the food we made together. I wonderful and enriching experience all round!

Absolute must do in Bali, fantastic half day activity

Amazing experience with Tommee Ford, the extremely talented and wonderful cookery instructor. So much fun and the food, the advice , the recipes were simply outstanding. Highly recommended when traveling to Bali, 4 hours of fun and great memories. Thank Warung Nia Cooking School team, you guys made our trip.

Amazing experience with great food and knowledgeable staff

This was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in Bali. The Chef was incredibly knowledgeable about Balinese cuisine and how it ingredients/methods compared to Western ones which meant it wasn’t only fun but educational too. We made a massive amount of food and they were very accommodating to the dietary needs of our group as one of us didn’t eat seafood and the other was gluten free. The staff were also there to help when needed as there was a good amount of food to prepare (6-7 dishes) for lunch but it still felt like a very authentic experience having to crush ingredients for curry pastes and chop all the ingredients ourselves.

Great way to spend a morning

This was an amazing day out! We cooked nine different Balinese dishes including sate, nasi goreng, gado gado, green papaya salad and more! Such a great experience and a fabulous souvenir in the cook book. Make sure you skip breakfast because the meal is very generous!

Well worth it!

The day was informative and fun we learned how do cook 9 main courses and one desert. The pace and duration were just right and the staff friendly , courteous and entertaining I would highly recommend!

Lots of fun and delicious food

This class was awesome. We were a group of 9 and made our own way to the cooking class as we were located in Canggu. The market experience was very interesting and different, something everyone should see once (it is hot so if you have a fan you should bring it). The cooking class itself was so much fun, the tasks and cultural information was explained to us with lots of humour. We enjoyed the cooking class and the food was very delicious. The pork was my favourite dish, and the nasi goreng was great. All up I think we made 7/8 dishes. We were able to purchase beverages to drink while cooking which was a bonus. We wish we had taken the leftovers home but it was a long day so we did not think to ask for our prepared meals to take away. Something to consider- we were told from a few people that they booked directly with the cooking school and it was cheaper, however I know that spots do fill up due to popular demand which was why we booked through trip advisor. Thank you, I would definitely recommend!

Do yourself a favour and go along to a session!

A market tour, cooking 12 dishes AND eating the spoils of our labour in just 3.5 hours? Entirely possible, and fun, with the Nia Bali team! The experience was remarkable; the cooking was made possible with great, and easy to follow, instructions, and an easygoing atmosphere made getting to know the others in our group a really pleasurable experience. There was no pressure to take part in anything we didn't want to do, or to try food outside our comfort levels. The team running the session really made it a wonderful experience. They have the running of each class down pat and even take photos of you which they send to the individuals that evening. It is such a smooth operation that I would recommend this class again and again, to anyone who will listen!

Fun filled food experience at Bali

Our chef and host Tommy gave us an unforgettable experience at Bali. He took us through a local market and explained the local ingredients we will be using and then onto a restaurant/kitchen to prepare an incredible 12 course Balinese feast. Tommy was knowledgeable, fun, engaging, and personable, the supporting staff were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the class with visitors from around the world and developed quick friendships. We tried a wide variety of techniques from cutting and preparing the ingredients to hands-on cooking and of course sampling the food along the way. At the end we were rewarded with a feast from the food we prepared and cooked. We even got personalized certificates from Tommy. Well worth the experience. Encourage you to try this experience and gain some knowledge of the great local cuisine.
