Easy- Educational- Enjoyable

A great way to see the city and learn history. Tour guide Jordano knowledgeable, cautious and interactive with all our questions and picture requests. Bikes were comfortable and water provided on the tour. We saw many tours on foot with groups of 15 to 20. Being on a bike tour provided us a group of 6. Easier to hear the information and move at enjoyable pace. We used the blue cruiser bikes you see in the pictures. All maintained. Helmets are optional. However- we all wore helmets- streets and traffic movement is very different than the US. I would recommend the BIKE tour over the walking tours any day.

Fantastic experience

This was the highlight of our time in Santo Domingo- so informative and fun. I would highly highly recommend, our guide was probably one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had, he really brought Dominican ( and wider Caribbean) history to life

Must visit! Very authentic!

This was the coolest activity we did in Santo Domingo/ Zona colonial. There are various tours offered, but I guarantee this was the most authentic and realist! The tour guides paint a realistic and accepting picture of the city. Bicycling made the tour more engaging and enjoyable! At the end of the tour they gave us a map with great must visit locations! I recommend you do this trip on the first day of your visit of Santo Domingo! Loved the overall vibes! Definitely recommend!

Best way to explore the city!

Felt like the best way to explore the city! Jordano took us throw all the main attractions of the colonial zone, and a little bit out of it, adding some historical facts on top. Me, my wife, and our 3 years old - all enjoyed it. Bikes were in ok condition and colonial zone has so much to offer! After the tour we were well equipped to explore the city on our own.

Made Santo Domingo come alive!

I have grown to love city bike tours when we travel and this did not disappoint. We had a wonderful tour around Santo Domingo where we learned the good, the beautiful and the ugly. It was such a educational and enjoyable experience. It wasn't a difficult ride at all and our guide took very good care of us on the road and at all the stops. Great Tour!

Jose was an amazing tour guide who explained so much of the history of the DR in our 2 hour tour. The Zona Colonial is gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We splurged for the bikes, but we would have been fine with regular bikes.

Fun and interesting tour with the best guide Jose!

Fantastic e-bike tour with Jose. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny and spoke fluent English with hardly any accent. He showed us the major sites and the hidden gems and gave us a lot of history and insights to the culture and social aspects of the country. He also spent time afterwards to give us tips on things to see and do and places to eat. Wish we would have done this the first day we were in town as we could have avoided some tourist traps. We highly recommend this tour with Jose.

Good and Bad

Wish I could rate them higher. First the Bad: We booked a tour weeks ahead, it was confirmed and my credit card was charged. We arrived at the shop and the shop team had no idea and was completely surprised. We found out that during Easter Holy week either there was no tours available or the tour guide just didn't show up to work. As a note to all travelers to the DR, we found out the hard way that about half the country doesn't show up to work during the entire Easter Holy week. So Viator and the shop managers didn't do their jobs. When a tour is available to book and its confirmed don't leave your clients hanging out to dry if it is a major national holiday. Fix it. It was a really crappy way to start our experience of the DR. The Good: The team in the shop was great. Once we all figured out what was happening they were very apologetic and accommodating. They promised a full refund. Which they took care of quickly and let us use two bikes to ride around town. It wasn't the same experience as Santa Domingo can be intense to new comers on bikes. A local guide would have been a major difference maker. Thank you shop team. Your managers owes you a thank you and a coffee. Dave

Don’t miss the best experience ever!!!

This tour is a must do!!!! José is the best guide ever…not only he took us around the colonial zone telling us all the history, but he also went above and beyond showing us all the places where the locals go, recommending the best restaurants and lugares que no te puede perder ❤️ We had the best time ever and learned so much about Dominican Republic. We fall in love with the neighbourhood, the vibes and the people..so much that we spent the day there and we ended up eating, drinking and dancing all day long in all the places that he recommended to us!! Trust me, if you are in Santo Domingo go to Zone Bike and spend the best 2 hours of your day with José and his team ❤️

Must experience Colonial city centre by bike

We love doing bike tours as we get to see more of the city while getting some exercise. We decided to do the Santo Domingo bike tour and we're lucky enough to also have Miriam as a guide. We also lucked out and we're only 2 on the tour. We got a private tour and Miriam went into great detail regarding landmarks, history, culture, and even finances. What a great way to learn about a country we are visiting. She also asked us if we had any questions and exchanged information on our local Canadian culture. Miriam is a wealth of information and was an absolute pleasure. Definitely recommend. Safe and fairly easy bike tour other than a small uphill ride at the end which can also be walked.

The best tour in Santo Domingo

If you only have one tour and an easy e-bike ride is something everyone in your group can do, I highly recommend this e-bike tour with Zona Bici. José was our guide and it was an entertaining and educating time. We learned so much about the history of the DR that influences the culture and people today, but it was presented in a very easy and entertaining way. The e-bike makes it possible to cover a lot of area, making the tour more thorough and less tiring than a walking tour. The employees of the shop are all very nice and the service was top notch. Highly recommend.

Fantastic tour guide makes all the difference!

A bike tour of the colonial zone isn’t the most exciting g tour we’ve ever done, but the owner of this store does an excellent job making the tour interesting and exciting, recounting the stories of each location we stopped along the way. His passion showed, and we enjoyed the trip, which might have been boring without the commentary and his stories about the locations we saw. Power bikes made climbing even the steeper hills very easy., too.

Great Bike Tour of Zona Colonial

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our guided Zona Colonial bike tour from Zona Bici. We were made to feel welcome right from the get-go with great coffees at the shop's bar. Our friendly and knowledgeable guide not only showed us all the sights and gave us a lot of historical background and local info and anecdotes, but also answered any random and unrelated questions we had about Santo Domingo and the Domenican Republic at large. Highly recommended if you are after a different, personal tour experience that doesn't just drag you from one gift shop to the next.

Bike Tour of the Colonial Zone

Excellent historical tour of the Colonial Zone. Our leader, Jordano, was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable about the historical areas and spent extra time showing us around. He speaks both Spanish and English. Thanks, Jordano!!!!!!

Highlight of our Entire Trip

The Bike tour and our guide Mairim was a highlight of my entire trip to the Dominican Republic. I was here with my Spanish class to learn more and practice. While Mairim could have given us the tour in English, we wanted to practice listening and comprehending Spanish. They were extremely patient with us and took their time explaining and answering questions. They easily accommodated us taking a detour to see more of the malecón and ride along the coast. They also helped us out when someone was struggling with their bike and ended up returning to get and electric one so they could enjoy the tour as well. I loved hearing the entire history and Mairim was very knowledgeable. They presented the complex history in a way that was easy to digest and we were able to laugh and joke along the way as well. I loved our stop at the end in Santa Bárbara to hear more about the thriving and vibrant community there. Would definitely recommend and do again in the future!

Fun was to learn about the city

The tour was wonderful! Our guide, Mairim, was knowledgeable and very kind. It was a great way to explore the city and get some recommendations for our vacation. The ebikes made the two hours effortless as well. Would absolutely recommend!

Fun way to get your bearings in Santo Domingo

My family had a great time exploring Santo Domingo on comfy cruiser bikes with Zona Bici. Mairim was an engaging guide, giving a great overview of Dominican history and daily life. My teens, who are hard to impress, enjoyed the outing much more than they thought they would, which is always a win as a parent! A great way to get your bearings in the city to figure out where you'd like to visit again.

The tour around the city with Mairim is a must, she was my tour guide and I had the best time with her learning the history of Santo Domingo and so much more. I recommend doing this tour first to get an understanding of what to do and where to go in the city

Very knowledgable guide around the colonial district

We recently did a guided tour of the colonial district as a group of 6 friends . We had a fantastic 2 hours and learned so much about Sanyo Domingo and the history of the Republic . I would thoroughly recommend this tour as it really opens your eyes to the district and is great value for money . The bike shop also do fab coffee and artisan beers…..after the rose of course 😉

Fabulous afternoon biking around Zona Colonia

Very enjoyable bike tour through Zona Colonia. Over a dozen stops at historic and culturally significant locations as well as dining and nightlife suggestions!! Our guide Jose, who also happens to be the owner of this fantastic business since 2105-bike rentals, bike tours, E-bike tours, mountain bikes, coffee shop AND BEER shop all in one- was very knowledgeable. He gave pir tour in French and Spanish and speaks perfect English as well. Wouldn't be suprised if he spoke Italian and Portugese (?). Merci Jose!!

This bike tour is a must!

This tour is a must! Mairim was an excellent guide throughout the tour. She was well-informed, patient, and cheerful. I highly recommend this tour as one of the first things you do upon arrival in Santo Domingo. This tour is not only educational, but you also get to see a variety of restaurants during the sightseeing and, of course, great photo spots to capture the memories of Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone.

Great appetizer for a couple days in the colonial zone.

Do this at the beginning of your trip because the guide will point out lots of great local spots to eat and check out. Also gives a good lay of the land. Plus their coffee is amazing and you may want to go back everyday for it.

This was a perfect introduction to the city. It helped point out some sites that I wanted to explore further. Cycling through the city also helped keep me cool in the mid-day heat. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Saw history up close

Jose was an AMAZING bike tour guide. So passionate and knowledgeable about the area and its history. He helped us feel welcome and at home, and looked out for us when we had to bike briefly on the roads! He answered our questions and gave great recommendations for restaurants and things to do the area. Plus, you can start out (or end) with some coffee, juice, or a drink from the bar inside the bike shop!!

BEST TOUR GUIDE IN SANTO DOMINGO

Our tour guide was very informative. If you’re staying in Santo Domingo and want a real and historical understanding of the area and the Dominican Republic. This is an excellent place to go. After the tour we felt more confident in the area and knew how to navigate where to go much better. The bike ride was enjoyable and a relaxing experience. I would definitely do this again.

A fun way to get to know the town + DR culture

Overall, it was informational and fun! My guide was Jose. He does know very well about the place and like what he does. I was the only one for the tour(lucky for me). Rode bike around the town for 70~80 mins and afterwards walked around the town to visit places that seemed interesting during the tour. Recommend to do the tour on your first day as you get to know about the area, DR culture and where you should go cool places to visit(kool-mado, maracas, corner cafe, restaurants for lunch, kahkow chocolate shops, etc.) colmado, problems with garbages, bike, etc. I will recommend to anyone who is new and want to know about the town and DR culture. (One tip: I made a reservation a day before the tour on a weekday and I guess there was some miscommunication. My tour was a bit delayed. If you made a reseravation last minute like I did, I recommend to confirm with Zona Bici through whatsapp or e-mail before the tour)

Don’t miss this!

This was an amazing tour with a guide who obviously loves his city and people. 1.5 hours was perfect and our group was small so it was intimate. We saw all the main attractions as well as some hidden treasures that weren’t in the map. The coffee after was amazing too. Def something I’d recommend vs the long boring 10 hour tours. Our guide recommended the restaurants the locals go. My favorite part was going to Santa Barbara and listening to music and the people singing. Great fun.

Bicycle the colonial zone with Zona Bici

We were so lucky that Jose of zona bici took us on an amazing tour throughout the colonial zone and shared his knowledge of historical, cultural, and current local facts. He provided us with awesome recommendations of where to go sightsee and eat after the tour. He has a very nice shop with a clean bathroom, great coffee, other drinks and snacks too! We are so happy and thankful with the tour he gave us.

Great time cruising the colonial city!

Jose was fantastic! He spent two hours touring us around. We especially loved the time in the Santa Barbara neighborhood viewing the murals. His English was terrific as well.

Fun ride in the city

Really enjoyed our ride. Luis was very informative and gave us options for what we wanted to see. It was a great way to see the city and we were able to cover more ground in the shorter amount of time. There may have been one or two hills, so if you're not use to riding- that may be difficult. Overall really fun.

Bike rental in Zona Colonial, Santo Domingo

Great service and price, $7 for a single bicycle ride for an hour. Workers were very kind which means a lot to me. My husband and I went to El Malecón and it was a beautiful drive with a nice sunset 🌅 Just know that if you decide to drive in Zona Colonial, there is a lot of traffic and people walking.

Colonial zone fun

We rented two bikes and biked around the area. We were able to cover more ground, saw the plazas, the monuments and the locals. Price was great and afterwards Wolf the barista served us the best espresso I’ve ever had. I’m a sucker for local organic specialty coffee! 10/10 would recommend.

Super fun, informative, and interesting Bike Tour (and shop/cafe)

Jose and the entire crew at Zona Bici are passionate and dedicated to giving you a cool and safe experience in the Colonial Zone. The cafe and coffee are top notch, the store is a welcoming and cool place to hang out, and the bikes and tours are fun, informative, and well thought out. I would recommend Jose and Zona Bici to almost any type of person (tourist or local) as they are working to make cool things happen for you, for their community, and for cycling worldwide. They speak English and Spanish fluently as well.

Best Colonial Zone tour you can do!

I was fortunate enough to have a tour of the Colonial Zone with Luiz a couple of days ago. He speaks perfect English, but had the patience to let me practice my Spanish with him as well. Luiz and I rode through the Colonial Zone where I saw and learned about cathedrals, streets, important historical characters, wars, statues - even trees! The tour was a blast, and I highly recommend that you do it. Oh, and have some Dominican coffee at the cafe when you return...

Drank a couple of beers

Were with friends who knew of this place but never been. We were pleasantly surprised how friendly and accommodating they were with us. We just wanted something to drink before going to dinner. We ordered some beers and noticed they rent bikes to go around sons colonial. If you are a bike rider then visit them and they’ll supply you with helmets etc. they also sell snacks, coffee and the likes. They have benches where you can sit at and enjoy your drinks and snacks.

Loved it!

Great place to rent any kind of bike and go around Zona Colonial with friends or family. Prices are fare and they always have offers for groups, so you can save a buck. Also, they have excellent crafted beer and delicious icecream insidde the store, staff is very friendly and the whole place has a great vibe.

Delicious iced coffee in a beautiful and friendly space

This place is great, we came 3-4 times over the course of just 3 days in La Zona Colonial -- amazing coffee (lots of options), friendly people, lively and beautiful space. We rented bikes too -- one of our favorite activities of our Santo Domingo stay.

This is a wonderful, relatively quick tour of La Zona Colonial on super fun, safe bikes. Other tourists seeing us immediately asked how do we do that. Our guide was great and made the trip easy and fun. I’m ready to do it again.

Coffee, Beer, Culture

My visit to this coffee and beer shop was a highlight of my trip to Santo Domingo. Although the city is beautiful and full of history and things to explore in and of itself, this shop and the barista manager, Nicolas Bullo, brought the entire city to life. I speak no Spanish which made it tough getting around the city anyway, but Nicolas wanted to share this city and his passion (thing sommelier of coffee) for coffee with us. I spent 3 nights in this city and 2 nights were spent at this location. His English was impeccable and the conversation made my vacation here incredible. If I ever find myself back, I am certain I will spend plenty of days and nights there (and hopefully they will maybe even have beer bike tours!). This is truly a gem in this amazing city and Nicolas is entire welcoming committee.
