Excellent tour with a marvelous guide. Definitely recommend. Lots of history. If you have been to a distillery in Kentucky, this is a similar process.

Great Ron Barcelo tour

We wanted to visit a Rum distillery and tasting. Our driver Sandro knew a tour guild at Ron Barcelona and booked us a tour. We purchased the $30 tour and Sergio was our guide. It was by far the Best tasting tour I’ve ever been on. Such a clean and nice distillery and facility. Our guide Sergio was so knowledgeable and nice. I would Highly recommend this tour. The prices on their Rum is better than anywhere else.

Ron's Barcerio rum tasting tour

We booked out trip thru Sandro Moreno our driver, who was fantastic. We enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide was Sergio who explained the process to us and was a fantastic guide. We had a delicious mixed drink while going through the museum. We tasted 5 rums at the end. The rums for sale had great pricing. This was one of the best rum tours I've ever taken. They explained the process and you got to see the plant and bottling as well as quality control. Thanks Sergio for the great tour.

Very interesting and fun!

This is a great tour to do when you're in the capital or La Romana. We booked over the phone the day before and got there in a car rental. We had a great time learning so much about the distillery and the history. In addition, we were able to try the rum and got to try a delicious mixed drink. I recommend you wear sunscreen and wear a hat since the sun can be very strong when you're outside during parts of the tour. The tour ends at the gift shop where you get great deals on bottles and other souvenirs.

Totally worth it

An amazing experience. We went without a reservation during a weekday and the staff was very welcoming from the second we drove into their parking. I believe our tour guide was Jean Carlos, great experience for the price and you get to shop around for liquor at the end of the tour

Rum tour with tastings

We were accommodated by Sergio over the phone for a last minute booking. At reception, Juan Carlos gave us a personal guided and well informed tour around their processes and warehouses. We visited the museum for a film with a delicious rum cocktail. His English is great - much better than our Spanish. Generous rum tastings at the bar ended the tour in style. The different rums are superb to try. The new Porto rum is incredible - a must try! The shop was well stocked and cheaper than the supermarkets, so get yours there! Needless to say we bought quite a few bottles to take home. A wonderful trip with a great host. Thank you for being so welcoming 😀

Fantastic!!!!

Oh my goodness! We had a great experience with Luis. There were no reservations available, so we chanced there might be something and drove over. The security guard was able to get us a tour and it was just the two of us! Luis had wonderful English and was so, so knowledgeable! The flight tasting was so good that we bought several bottles to carry home. Especially the ones not exported to the US. Would do this again!

Do it!

We absolutely loved this tour. We did not have reservations, but the schedule allowed the staff to be very accommodating. I recommend reservations though. Luis is a phenomenal tour guide. 10/10 recommend!

Wonderfully experience

Luis our guide was absolutely amazing! He was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the warehouse and even let us try the Imperial Maple Casket… very delicious! We’re definitely glad we booked it!

Great/Informative Tour for Friends (In English)

Completed this tour in mid-May 2023. As an English-only speaker I was worried that the tour would be in Spanish and then have to be translated through friends making the experience less than optimal for me and my friends. However, Jean-Carlos (our tour guide) spoke a few languages and made the experience very enjoyable. The tour itself was wonderful as they took us through the entire process of aging the rum to bottling and packing. We got the history of the family and nuances to how and why they did certain things in their process. Was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to all who can get out to the factory.

Excellent tour given by Gian Carlos! Memorable day full of unique sights and smells, capped off with delicious rum tasting.

Brief

It was quick and informative. Maybe a bit too quick. We toured through three different areas of the manufacturing facilities and the last part was a video followed by shots. I wish we could have been more interactive. The drinks are great, but the guy didn’t know his stuff that well.

Amazing

Sergio was amazing!!! Best tour guide ever. He was funny and welcoming. Very knowledgeable. Overall the staff was amazing. Drinks were good too!!! So historical and cultural.

A Gem in the Caribbean!!!!

The tour was breathtaking. This is a must see for everyone who visits our country and for locals too. To me it was like to take a trip to my roots, being from Dominican Republic and see those iconic commercials from the 90's, definitely made me cry. Our tour was very informative, with lots of history, and we were treated like royalty. Special thanks to Mrs. Gissel Henriquez, and our amazing guide Sergio!!!. Definitely a 100% recommended.

A Tour Like No Other

My girlfriend and I recently toured the entire grounds from start to finish. Our tour guide was Sergio whose knowledge was so insightful, it was like a history book come to life! You’ll be exposed to the family history, see and learn about the first tools used to turn sugarcane into rum, the process used to age the barrels and how they are actually sealed, the assembly line of the factory, and closing with a tasting!

I loved all the detailed information about the history of rhum and how is produced by Barcelo. The guide Jiancarlo was very kind and knowledgeable. I loved I could taste 4 different rhums. Finally, Security staff helped me to find transportation to go back to San Pedro.

What a great way to see how rum is made and the history of the Barcelo company is incredible. The Team of Jiancarlo Castro, Sergio, Simon, Luis and Jorge made sure our visit was memorable....and the RUM was awesome!

The entire tour and rum tasting!

Wow! What a great tour. Very informative and educational. We are, now, enlightened regarding how rum is made at one of the best factories in the Dominican Republic. Very clean and efficient. Now if they can figure out how to recycle bottles, they would be unstoppable! Luis was a great guide and his English is very good! Keep up the great work on producing one of the best rums in the world!!!🥴

Excellent tour

I've been to several rum factories in the DR and outside, but this has been the best tour I ever got. Juan Miguel is extremely knowledgable, there is not one question in his area he was not able to answer. Besides that, he makes the tour fun and enjoyable. Thank you so much for this experience!

Perfect visite with a perfect guide !!

Don’t hesitate, and just go for it. The place is amazing, huge and well taken care of. Our guide, Miguel was perfect. He explained everything from the beginning with the canes field until the tasting of the rhum. Nice to know and nice to taste too ! 100% would recommend .

Fun and informative tour.

We visited this factory in December 2019. Our tour guide was Juan Miguel Salas. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour an great experience. I've since have recommended it to others. It was worth it.

Jose Miguel showed us around the factory and the museum. Then let us sample the different rums. He was exceadingly knowledgeable and we would recommend him 100%

Informative and fun

We went here for my mother in laws 70th birthday. Staff was knowledgable and nice. Rum was delicious and was happy to learn that Barceló is the first carbon neutral rum in the world!

Awesome Tour

We visited Ron Barcelo On December 11 on a tour organized through our resort. Our Guide ,Juan Miguel, was absolutely fabulous. He was very knowledgable, affable and humorous. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. Keep up the good work as a great representative of Ron Barcelo.

Educational and Interesting

We were fortunate enough to have Juan Miguel take us for a tour of the factory. He was quite knowledgeable of the rum making process including the ability to answer my questions about the business. My party had both English and Spanish speakers, so I appreciate him using both languages as we proceeded. When on trips, I tend to tour distilleries and breweries and this was one of my better visits.

Wonderdul visit

I went there alone and i had the visit tour with a couple and a guide who were speaking a perfect french and spanish (and other languages) ! I enjoyed my time there and i recommand the visit to everybody :-)

Interesting tour about the process of aging and bottling the Run Barcelo

We loved this tour. Our guide (Luis dos Santos) was very nice and explained all the process quite clearly. We had a nice visit through the museum and a great tasting in the end. I was expecting to see the whole process (from the sugar cane to the botteling) but the museum helps understand.

The best Ron experience.

It was a excellent experience. I learned about the process elaboration of the one of the best Ron of the world. The tour guy gave us a good explication about everything of the factory. I recomend this a 100%.

Great Tour and great rum!

Had a private tour with wonderful tour guide Junior. He was awesome! Very informative, and interesting. Learned a lot about the making of rum and how the factory has committed to sustainability. Use of solar panels and recycling everything from the used cane stalks for plant energy to used barrels for furniture is a cool way of doing business. And the rum is delicious!

Excellent Excellent Excellent

My brother and I drove to the Barcelo Rum factory and our tour with Junior "Seve" Castro was great! Super informative, full of smiles, happy to answer our questions and very personalized. I was expecting to be stuck in a group of 20 people, but we had a private tour and took our time relaxing and enjoying the experience. Highly recommended if you are staying near Juan Dolio or San Pedro and you are looking to get off the beach for a couple of hours. Note - the prices on the bottles are MUCH cheaper than at the airport duty free. Thanks, Seve!

Wonderful Tour

We are avid rum lovers, so we obviously decided to do the Rum tour at Ron Barcelo. Our tour guide Hendricks was awesome! You could feel his personal reverence for the product and the company. You get to tour the factory, which is very cool, they do things a little differently at every place, so it is always worth it to visit I think. Then there is a Rum museum, which is kind of cool, certainly worth a look. And then the tasting, which is great. Even though two of their Rums have Black on the label, they are not like the goslings I was thinking of, they are just aged in more charred barrels. And they are all very delicious. Again, can not say enough about how nice and passionate everyone was there. It is a must!

I fall in love with Barcelo Imperial and Onyx Rum!

I found this tour on Tripadvisor before we visited DR, becuase it was only 30min by taxi from our hotel, it costs us $50 plus $15 each for entry ticket. I loved this tour, becuase it shows exactly how this great rum is made. I absolutely loved smell of warehouse where all oak barrels are stored and it is part of rum maturing for XYZ years. I do not like rum, but after this tour I found rum what I can drink and I did drink this rum during my whole stay in DR. Our tour guide was fantastic, he knew what he is talking about and answered any questions what we asked. It is worth to visit!

Worth the $15

Today we went to the Ron Barcelo Factory. It is a bit far away from civilization, because it is on the old highway Mella. We had private car, so it wasnt a problem since we just used Google maps. At the entrance you can already see on the left side the Museum. You can just tell the security guard you want to go see the museum. There is no real parking space, we just parked st the sidewalk. The tour is quite long but very deep with information. We did start first with the factory and at the end with the history, which was a little weird, but it helped because when we came back it started to rain. I really liked thst you can see the barrels which in other rum factories you cannot. They also explain a lot about the barrel itself. At the end we did get a tasting of 4 different types of premium rum, plus a cocktail. Where in my opinion it is really worth the 15 dollars. The guide spoke very good english, and had a lot of knowledge about the factory. You can pay with Credit Cards the tour.

Personal, Fun & Informative

One of the best tours we have taken! My parents and I drove on our own to this location and it was very easy to find using Google Maps. The directions told me to take a left instead of a right, but we still were able to see that it was misguiding us so we followed what we saw instead! We went to the factory on a Thursday morning and ended up having a private tour! This is a can't miss opportunity! The tour was very personal, engaging and the guide was able to answer every question we asked with ease! Their in-store prices were very reasonable and we bought 7 bottles. P.S. If you aren't a big "straight" rum drinker, like me, they have an amazing cream liquor and an cocktail for you! We asked for their recipe and they wrote it down for us! You'll have to take the tour for yourself to learn more and get the recipe!

Awesome tour!

The tour was a lot of fun and very informative. Walking through the barrel warehouses and then seeing the assembly lines was very cool. There was a little history video and the tour guide answered a lot of questions. We went on our own, without a tour group, and it was no problem. At the end of the tour is a great tasting that started with 4 different rums. We were then offered to taste any other rum they had... except the 30th Anniversary unfortunately. We ended up buying a bottle of Imperial for about half the price I can buy it at home. Definitely take time to do this tour if you are into rum. All that said, the place is hard to find. Google Maps' directions were not accurate. And although a lot of the employees at the resort we were staying at claimed to know how to go there, they did not. When we finally found the right road the sign was very small and hanging high. My suggestion is there should be a sign at the exit to highway 3, and a big one at the start of the road leading to the distillery. That would help out a lot. Despite the difficulty in finding the place, it is worth all the trouble to take this tour.

Thank you Luis and Junior for a wonderful time!!! We learned so much about the production process of rum and about this beautiful country! We have taken tours through some of the major beer plants in the US and this tour is easily one of our favorites! A+++++

Interestingly worth it!

The things you learn when on vacation. Surprisingly it is a very interesting tour. The layout is really nice and you get to see the whole process and then it gets to the tasting, which to be honest is not for everyone. I was a trooper but I almost threw in the towel. For those who like straight rum, you'll enjoy the tasting. Some surprisingly fun facts learned: 1. Ron Barcelo is Kosher. 2. Like wine, there is a tasting process for rum. 3. They have a very delicious rum cream, like baileys but better😋

Instructive and entertaining

As we stayed closeby at casa Hemingway we payed a visit to Ron Barcelo and did the a bit more than an hour tour. Through the storage to the factory and to the museum. Then we did the tasting where one needs to be careful😚

Highly Recommend

We all totally enjoyed this tour! We couldn’t of had a better tour guide than Louis! He was knowledgeable, well spoken, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone even if you don’t drink RUM! Thanks Louis it was a fun tour.

Educational and Fun!

8 of us hired a driver to take us to this tour. It was well worth the $15 that they collect at the end. It is clean, safe, and entertaining as you learn about the process and proud history of rum making in the Dominican Republic and at Ron Barcelona Rum. We toured the barrel creation and the distilling process that they use today. At the end, we were guided through a small museum of historical rum making artifacts. We concluded with a respectful sales video (short but well done) and rum tasting. There was no pressure to buy but it was very good so we bought. We later saw their rum for sale in stores and were thankful that we'd saved several dollars by buying at the factory. Our guide spoke excellent English and did a great job. Highly recommended.

University of Dominican Rum

This place was a neat find in the middle of a sugar cane field. It is an excellent tour with very knowledgeable people and great English speaking guides,ours was Mr. Hendricks and we a GREAT!!! tasting with his expertise . We also had a nice conversation with the Manager Julissa and she was extremely kind and informative. MIL GRACIAS

Great experience!! Best Rom in the World!!!

We had a Great Trip to DR, and we just had to visit this Rom factory. Our tour guide Louis was a great guy and it was great to see the rom storage and factory but the tasting was the best thing. Thanks for a great visit.
