Manuel Antonio National Park Sightseeing and Wildlife Day Tour from San Jose

Not a professional guide.

My guide Agustín, I wanted to inform you of my bad experience. Agustín! I found not very professional guide, I wanted to get a refund for my bad experience. First of all Agustín started the tour I can tell he didn’t want to be there, and as the tour began I could see him leaving voice messages and texting while driving, which I found that a bit odd, not safe. Through conversations with the group Agustín was doing his other business while guiding. Which I believe was in coffee, to me I work in the tourism back in Vancouver, Canada Is not professional, and should be giving 100% to the customer which I paid almost $300 CAD for the tour which is quite expensive for a group tour. with regarding my bad experience, additionally when we got to “ Hanging Bridge “ because of the time he dropped half the group to take the bus, but didn’t inform us what we did when it came to check-in who how guide was. There was a few other people on the group who can witness all this that happened yesterday.

Our guide Alex really tried to see and point out animals for us. Was very helpful and friendly. Had a great time overall..

A great day in nature

What an awesome tour. We had a fantastic tour guide who made the day extremely special for my wife and me. We stayed hiking instead of swimming which worked great for what we wanted to do this day. The park is the real attraction. We saw all the types of monkeys and sloths and many other animals. What a great trip.

Amazing views!

The views were amazing. Harlem was super knowledgeable and found animals that we would have never seen by ourselves. He was so great and Carlos drove us safely and soundly.

San Manuel National Park

Randal and Harlem did an amazing job!!! Definitely considering booking again next time I'm in Costa Rica. The food was great and views were spectacular. Lots of wildlife, especially monkeys on the beach. Bring a reusable water bottle.

Manuel Antonio Park trip warnings

A very enjoyable trip, but be advised that it is a three hour drive from San Jose' to the park. Consider this if you are thinking about bringing children. Secondly, I found it annoying that on our return to San Jose', the guide ambushed the clientele by asking that we give him and the driver a tip.

Good trip, covering...

Good trip, covering wildlife and beaches. Breakfast was rice, beans and plantain for us vegans- could have had toast and a fruit platter. Saw Scarlett macaws, iguanas and capuchin monkeys. Lovely lunch at a rooftop restaurant and an hour beach time. Agustin was once again a fantastic guide and sent us photos he’d taken with his professional lens the day after our tour.

Good time with family.

The trip was amazing and breath taking and beautiful. Our tour guide was Harlem and Carlos they gave us a good tour explained ever and gave us a good explanation of everything.

Amazing experience at Manuel Antonio National Park

We really loved the experience visiting Manuel Antonio National Park, seeing a diversity of animals, birds, insects and butterflies. Harlem our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the flora and fauna that you can find in Costa Rica. We had a close look through the telescope at macaws, monkeys, sloths, butterflies and bats. We stopped at the beautiful white sandy beaches of the national park and had the opportunity to have a swim in the warm waters of the Pacific. The lunch we had at San Bada restaurant was delicious and we had amazing views over the national park and Manuel Antonio beach. On the way back we stopped at Tarcoles river, on the crocodile bridge and managed to spot 5 crocodiles, resting on the river bank. All in all, a beautiful day which ourselves and our daughter have enjoyed a lot. Our guide Harlem and the driver Don Carlos were very courteous and friendly and made our experience memorable. Thank you for a great day!

AMAZING

This tour was absolutely amazing!!! The tour guide Giovanny and the driver Jose were so awesome! They made th trip fun and Giovanny has high energy and goes above and beyond to make the tour memorable and fun! All the stops were well worth it and of course the star of the tour Manuel Antonio National Park! What a beautiful national park, what more can you want than sloths, monkeys, beautiful beaches and amazing thinking trails! Don’t miss out on this tour!!!!!

AWESOME

The walk through the National Park was amazing. I loved seeing the Monkeys, Deer, Crabs and Sloth’s. Giovani and Jose (Tour Guides) were great. I would definitely come back and hope I would get them as well.

Great hiking and stairs

This was a great tour if you get to the park early in the morning for the crowds. Plenty of different monkeys and great hiking with lots of steps. Once in the park we were on our own swim or hike. Great breakfast and lunch but little time to buy local gifts.

Great trip and guide

This was a great trip and our tour guide was really very helpful. One thing missing was a short time to buy gifts. It was understandable because it turned out to be 12 + hour day.

Tiring and amazing

Sir Harlem is ontime. Tours was great overall. Sir Harlem is very detailed and gave us information about each and every place we visited.

Manuel Antonio Daytrip from San Jose

Our trip to MANP was smooth without downtime. It was a long journey but has appropriate stops to enjoy the ride. Harlem Picado our tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Worth your money trip.

Great tour with a great guide

The tour to Manuel Antonio Park from San Jose was guided by Jose and it was a great trip. The drive from San Jose to Quepos is long, but Jose made it great by expressing passion and excitement along the way as well as making sure the trip progress in a timely manner. The trip included breakfast and lunch at very enjoyable soda and restaurants. Jose also made sure to keep an eye out for wildlife along the way and share facts about the places we pass through. The trip was well organized, and we all had time to enjoy the trip at our own pace while also not feeling rushed.

Great seeing the animals!

It was everything we hoped for, which was to see many animals in their natural habitat! Harlem did a great job finding and pointing out the animals and Carlos did a great job getting us where we needed to be.

Great Tour!!! Great for kids!!!

We had a great tour with Harlom and Carlos. Every stop was super engaging. My 10 year old son loved every moment looking for sloths, monkeys, and iguanas. Harlom was able to spot lots of great animals and the breakfast/lunch was delicious!! Tip: Bug Spray and a change of clothes.

We had an amazing experience at the park! The beaches were beautiful and we had an incredible tour guide Harlem. He was very informative and passionate about the wildlife. If you have a chance, Harlem is definitely your go to man!

Well worth it!

Awesome!. Our guide, Harlem (and our driver) were helpful and knowledgeable.. Halem used his telescope ro find monkeys, sloths, etc and lined up our phones with the eyepiece for amazing pictures.. Highly recommend this tour.

Fernando was so good at explaining everything and taught us so much about Costa Rica along the van ride there and at each stop. We say so many pretty views!

Amazing Day Trip!!

We had Kenneth do our tour after we needed to change our the van due to the first having AC problems. He was attentive throughout the entire process and was passionate about getting pictures of as many animals as we could. Even though we took longer touring the park due to getting pictures he still gave us 2 hours to swim. After an hour of swimming it rained on us and we had a fun trip walking the park in the rain. Great experience!!

Manuel Antonio is a must visit

The trip was enjoyable. Harlen was a great guide who ensured we had the best experience. The national park was awesome with beautiful views. We ended the trip with a late lunch overlooking the park and beach. Although cloudy, it was still breathtaking

Best Tour We Took in Costa Rica!

My partner and I took this tour in late May 2024 and had an absolutely amazing time! Just about everything was perfect. Our group had a total of 8 people and we enjoyed who we met. Jorge drove very well and safely and Oscar is a fantastic guide with great English who taught us a lot about the country, animals, and plants, and he is great at spotting wildlife at the beach and national park. Along the way to the national park there are stops at a very large fruit stand, breakfast (either traditional Costa Rican breakfast of rice/beans, eggs, etc. or fruit and toast) (also a bathroom stop at breakfast), bridge to see crocodiles, a beach to see macaws, and a beach overlook. At the national park, they are serious about conservation and they don't allow plastic (including water bottles) or outside food, so be prepared with a reusable water bottle if you can - they sell metal ones outside of the park but they are a steep price of $8 (they will take USD). At the park we had a walking tour to spot animals, of which we saw a lot!, and then free time at the beach or nearby trails. The beach is beautiful, the water is warm, and it was not very crowded. So peaceful we could have stayed all day. After that we met at a hotel beside the park for lunch. Then we headed back to our hotels, it's a long drive, dependent on traffic too, so I really appreciated that they were able to make a bathroom stop for me! Overall, our favorite day in Costa Rica and we would absolutely do this tour again. Things to Remember: - It is a long day! We were picked up at 5:20am and dropped off at 8:15pm - There is a long time between breakfast and lunch, so bring snacks if you might get hungry (but remember you cannot bring food into the national park, though they have a small cafeteria inside) - Bring a reusable water bottle if you have one - Sunscreen - Bring a fan if you can! It is often hotter here than in San Jose or the more mountainous areas

Great tour worth it

Oscar the guide took us to manual Antonio National park. We saw huge colorful birds on road stop, slothes, and other animal. Definitely recommend this was it takes all of the guess work on the tour. Food, pick up, transportation taken care off.

Oscar was wonderful. He has a lot of experiences and knowledge. My family enjoyed the nature of Costa Rica. Thank you for the great memory.

Manuel Antonio beaches lovely

This trip was absolutely amazing, the tour guide was great & the tour was amazing! Would highly recommend for first time visitors as well!

Fantastic Manuel Antonio Tour!

The tour was amazing! Our tour guide Fernando was superb! He shared a tremendous knowledge of Costa Rica as we traveled to and from Manuel Antonio National Park. Once we arrived at the park, we had several wildlife sightings, such as monkeys, sloths, birds, and iguanas, and the beach was magnificent as well. Both breakfast and lunch were delicious, but I particularly enjoyed lunch. We stayed on schedule all day, and I commend Fernando on his timeliness, courtesy, and professionalism. Overall, I enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend!!!

Trip was ok but expectations not completely met

The trip was ok, in the end we got disappointed in some aspects: Positive: - group and guides were nice - we saw many animals - the Beach at the national Park was nice - driver drove quick but safe Negative: - we Had to Drive to the pick-up Spot by Uber (extra-cost) - the Ride was mit very comfortable (do not go in the last row, you will get back pain because of the Long Ride with Lots of bumps) - no Plastic bottles in the national Park - they told us in the car we could bring water but no fruits and snacks, and at the park entrance they would not let you pass with it (and also funny, people tried to sell us bottled water right in Front of the park entrance..) - We would Never throw Plastic bottles in the nature, I think the approach is questionable - national Park Had some animals; however, we expected more of it than just a Walk to the Beach. Most of the time there, it was just free (Beach-)time. We saw afterwardsthat the park had more ways than we explored, but from 3 hours guided park tour (acc to description), it was max 1 hour guided tour and 2 hours bathing (which some surely would find ok, since it was a hot day and you could cool down at the beach then) - we left a bag with some stuff (a Mango that we bought earlier on the trip and two rain-coats) in the car when we were at the Beach so that we would not have so much to Carry. Afterwards we realized that the bag was gone. Later we were told that the driver had thrown it away without looking into it, assuming that it was only leftover foods. Not understandable how someone can throw anything away without looking into it on a tourist tour, luckily there were no passports in there but still the raincoats were expensive (again, extra-cost) - there was too much time between breakfast (7:30am) and lunch (3pm). No chance to bring snacks in the park. You could buy some inside of course, but then again you had extra cost and long waiting times because the lines are quite long. All-in-all, it was too much driving time for too little return that you get in advance. Surely, many of the negative points are not the fault of the tour company and the guide tried to make it nice for the group, but it makes us think twice before booking again a tour like this.

Nice trip - nice to know

We had a really nice trip. Our guide and driver were friendly and told us a lot about the country and also the park. We spotted a lot of animal in the Nationalpark and had a very good time. It’s also a small group so we recommend the trip. Nice things to know: Nationalpark don’t allow plastic bottles. So you need a metallic bottle with water. The bottles can be refilled in the park. Breakfast is at 7:30am and lunch at 3 pm so it’s a long time between. Some snacks are recommended. But in the park your also not allowed to bring plastic packed snacks or fruits.

Sloths, iguanas and deer oh my!

Excellent communication re: transportation and itinerary. Our guide, Oscar, was personable and energetic. Even coordinated the return of an item left behind on the bus. Great stops along the way spotted 9 crocodiles along the bridge and grabbed some great souvenirs on the way back. When you hit the beach go to the adult option if you want a little more seclusion, epic waves and marvelous views/ photo ops! Long day made great with cool global travelers, excellent driver and scenic ride! 💸💸💸Great value!!! Pura Vida 🫶🏽🇨🇷🏝️🦜

Amazing trip

Amazing trip with Oscar and Carlos. We do a little bit of everything. We visit the National Park, we stop for food and shopping and Oscar provides us an amazing overview about the city and the culture. Highly recommended.

Fun at the beach

Our tour guide Fernando was great. We did not see much wildlife but mostly monkeys, iguanas, a few birds. We had fun at the beach. The view from lunch was beautiful but food was just so so. We expected better food from a nice resort but nah.

Knowledge guide with great experience

Harlem is super knowledge and experienced as our guide. He is attentive to details and share local stories that are helpful for first-time travelers to know. The trip is well-paced and the best highlight would be the relaxing time on the beach at Manuel Antonio. Our guide is talented in spotting wildlife and giving us free time to enjoy different spots. So a great balance between structured activities and DIY moments. Super grateful and Harlem and Will the driver is the dream team! Definitely recommend 1000 percent!

Pura vida with Oscar and Will !

My husband and I went to Manuel Antonio national park with Oscar and Will from GoTours and it was an amazing experience. They really took their time to explain everything, show as much as possible and made sure we had a great day. Oscar was a pro at finding all the animals, I swear he has a special talent. The food and the views were spectacular.

Great tour from San Jose to Manuel Antonio, our guide Angie was very friendly, nice and easygoing, taking her time to explain landmarks on the way to Manuel Antonio and helping us spot animals in the park itself, the national park was stunning and we really enjoyed being able to visit it on a day trip, highly recommended!

Great day trip to Manuel Antonio

Great trip. Harlem was an amazing guide! He spotted scarlet macaws, sloths (one with a baby), monkeys and even a boa constrictor! Beach was beautiful. Breakfast and lunch were both great. It’s a long trip from San Jose but worth it.

Worth the long drive in good weather

It was great to be picked up from hotel and taken back at end of trip. The stops were not clear. The bus needed a speaker hard to listen to guide. The breakfast was good and hot. It is a long ride but worth it. The timing of park stop and events to follow a bit confusing. Great driver.

Great day at Manuel Antonio!

Great experience, we definitely got our money's worth. The drive is long, but hey, it's Costa Rica, and there were enough stops and breaks along the way to make it comfortable.
