If you love the Sound of Music, this is a tour for you. David and Ferdinand gave us a wonderful tour with lots of interesting facts and tid bits about the filming and the real life Von Trapps.

Easy to book. Staff was friendly and guides were mature, from the local area and very knowledgeable.

So much fun in the hills and the mines

Peter was an excellent guide for the Sound of Music tour. It was very fun. We also had a great time in the Salt Mines. Our guide was very nice and with our small group he was very attentive to help us get going and find our way in the village we visited after our salt mine tour.

Top Attraction!!

Fantastic guide on Sound of Music Tour. Shared a lot of information that was new to me. Would recommend to my best friends. Salt mine trip was unusual experience. It was more fun than expected with slides and boatride inside mountain.

Breathtaking tour.

This was an exceptional day tour - with the Sound of Music, saw some breathtaking views of the mountains and learned more on the history and impact that the movie had on the region. The salt mines were beyond anything I would've expected to see. Additionally, the pickup area for both tours is in the middle of an exquisite food market - highly recommend anyone looking for fresh food to shop here - heads up, it is cash only.

Little adventure on salt mine

The salt mine trip was extremely enjoyable , sound of music was also enjoyable and our guide Bredgit ( i hope i had her name correctly) made the trip so much fun and joyful

Very easy to book, to find directions. Our tour guide was amazing. Kept us informed all the way supplied drinks which was good.

Only do the Sound Of Music

The Sound of Music Tour was fabulous. Great guide and bus operator. Lots of fun facts shared. Hit all the major locations the film was shot. The guide for the salt mine tour was not good. He did not choose to use the microphone so that everyone in the van could hear. Only the couple in the from seat could hear. The actual tour at the mine was great. Very interesting. A long ride to and from to not be able to hear the van driver.

Informative and well-paced

Informative, well-paced and never a dull moment! We enjoyed having the knowledgeable Peter as our guide for the Sound of Music, and a charismatic host for the afternoon tour. He had lots of facts to share on the whole drive to and from the mines (with some scenic stops).

A hit, and a miss

Birgit was our guide for the morning tour to Berchtesgaden Salt Mine to begin our full day tour ( which also included Sound of Music in the afternoon). There were only us (2) and another english couple on the tour. She was a wonderful host, focused on ensuring we were well informed and having a great time. She was always able to provide helpful information and answer our questions and pointed out other sights on the way. We enjoyed the salt mine tour especially the train, slides and boat ride over the lake. A fun morning out with added value from Birgit. What we didn’t realise is there was going to be an opportunity to be guided by Birgit in the afternoon also. But, we returned for our second tour a little early and got scooped up by another guide. This tour was very disappointing and tarnished the shine for the day. On some stops the relevance wasn’t clearly explained and it all felt a bit like the guide was going through the motions and just driving us, rather than guiding. There was also a racist “joke”, that we really didn’t appreciate.

A fun experience, beautiful scenery, good stories, and an enertaining guide.

The guide worked exceptionally hard to make the trip fun and convey the story behind the making of the movie Sound of Music. All the locations were beautiful and worth visiting just by themselves, and the stories about the movie filming made it that much better.

Salt mins and the Sound of Music - well worth it

Our guides were superb, such a history lesson for the salt mines and the surrounding area plus all the location information on the Sound of Music (even though I've never seen the film). Fully recommend - even when it's raining

Very interesting and worthwhile experience.

The experience was excellent. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful landscape of this mountainous region and its surrounds. Gerard and Brigitte were excellent and very knowledgeable guides and this enhanced our experience and made it very special.

Great excursion from Salzburg!

Really glad we did both! The Sound of Music tour was funny and interesting. We had a fantastic and enthusiastic guide who was engaging throughout (April). The Salt Mine tour was a surprise in the best way. Long day, but not to be missed if you have the time

Worth doing!

Our guide Mitch for Sound of Music tour was hilarious. The salt mines tour was an eye opener. The scenery everywhere was glorious. Would recommend!

Uncouple the two tours and just do the Original Sound of Music

This two-part tour has two reviews. The first part of the day in the Original Sound of Music portion was great. We had a wonderful guide Batina. She was very engaging and upbeat the entire tour. There were songs played on the bus and she even reenacted The Lonely Goatherd for our entertainment – you have to experience it. Overall, if you have not seen the Sound of Music watch it before this trip. Otherwise this trip will not make much sense to you. And be prepared to sing along! The tour takes you around to the different sites where the movie was filmed. Insight is provided on what was real and what was movie magic! It was a lot of fun and I recommend this portion of the tour. The second half of the tour in the Salt Mines was not quite as enjoyable. Our guide Walter that drove the van of 8 people was very informative on the ride out to the salt mines. There was a recent snow fall and there was some lovely scenery to be photographed along the way. But when we got to the salt mine that is where the experience was somewhat of a letdown. After changing into our coveralls (to protect our clothing) we were not given much direction after that. There were a few other much larger tours at the salt mine that we were grouped with. We were handed a handheld receiver that would be our guide (in English). The larger groups were then boarded onto the train first and we were the last people to get on the train that would go into the mine. We were not instructed how to get on the train and there was no consideration for my elderly mother to provide her access to properly get on the train which involved sitting on the seat like a horse ride. With a replaced hip she needed more assistance to be able to swing her leg over the seat and she ended up falling trying to get on the train seat. Then they did not give us any warning or directions that there was going to be a “group photo” taken before the train left the boarding area – so we were not looking in the direction of the camera. The lady shooting the photo would not retake the picture either after I told her we did not know she was taking a picture as we were just boarding the train. Then once the train arrived at the drop off site the handheld receiver guide was not working so we had no idea what we were doing there. A lightshow of some sort came on and there was no explanation as to where we were. But there was a man speaking in German from the salt mine the whole time unfortunately we did not understand his presentation the entire time in the mine. Next thing we know we are to get on a slide and go down further into the salt mine. The slide was the only fun part. When we arrived at the bottom of the slide the German speaking guide continued speaking in German and we still did not understand anything. The receiver finally turned on halfway through his presentation and a few words in English were spit out the receiver, but the explanation was like 30 seconds long while the Austrian Guide spoke for like 5 minutes. This continued throughout the tour in the salt mine. So we were not well informed about the history and the activities of the salt mine. Then we came to the end of the salt mine tour where we had to get back on the train and there was no space to get on. The large tour group that we were bunched into were not leaving any space available. We had to squeeze into a spot that was barely enough space for my elderly mother to climb into. After arriving back to the starting point we were rather disappointed in this experience. From here we departed to go to a little town called Bertchesgaden for a stop to have coffee. However everything was closed – this stop was a waste of 60 minutes. I would have rathered just returned directly to Salzburg – the sun was already setting for the day when we arrived there and we would have more useful time back in Salzburg. I would not recommend the salt mine experience. Uncouple the two and just do the Original Sound of Music portion.

Great experience

Our tour guides were fantastic and we were able to see so much of the area in one day. If you have limited time, we highly recommend this tour.

we went to salzburg for our 50th anniversary i booked this tour before we went i was not looking forward to this at all my wife is a fan well we got on the coach and there was april and dragon the tour guide and the driver the day took off april is a nutter and so funny in the end i was singing and joining in with it all we were on and off the coach seeing bits from the film april not only told us about the film but told us about thr real von trap family if you going to salzburg go on this trip YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY

Amazing experience with our guide Zoey

The salt mine tour was so much fun. They take you to a ute little town after as well. The Sound of Music with our tourguide Zoey was fantastic. She sang along to the music, was funny and you could tell she enjoyed her job. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone. This was the highlight of my trip to Salzburg.

Lovely day in Salzburg

Salt mines trip was a total winner. Very unique experience. Great and entertaining guide. Sound of music trip took us through some panaromoic views with interesting snippets from the movie and it's locations. Overall a good day spent!

Do it

Loved the salt mine experience. It was very interesting and FUN. Sound of Music tour lacked excitement. Wished it was more about the nostalgia of the movie and less about the reality of the Von Trapp family. More singing, less talking.

A dream come true tour.

It was a very touching moment to experience this tour. Our guide was excellent and very clear in his explanations of the story of SOUNDS OF MUSIC.

Bus time too much

Salt mine tour was great as was The Sound of Music. I didn’t like that we had to drop another tour group off at Eagle’s Nest tour and also pick them up. We went on a very winding road with hairpin turns four times. It was too much bus time. We should get a discount when we had to do that and they don’t tell you ahead.

Tour guide was amazing!!! He was entertaining and a pure joy plus he shared a lot of fun facts. Fun afternoon and it was beautiful.

Always want to know about austria and its surroundings, specially sound of the music lovers. It is a must see trip.

Tour in general was good , specially the trip to Salzburg was amazing. The beautiful landscape around the too many towns on the way was spectacular.

Great experiences packed into one day.

The Salt Mines tour was a unique and educational experience. To quote one of the children, “it was my first time, and I loved it!” I loved the train ride, the slide, and the short boat ride across mirror lake. Fascinating history. I also loved the Sound of Music tour. Peter was hilarious as he told of some of the behind the scenes secrets, and the locations we visited were just beautiful.

Amazing Time

The salt mines where amazing and the audio guide was helpful. It was very informative and it lasted around an hour. I would wear trainers as it’s very cold but you get an overall to put on over your clothes. If you’re unable to walk far distances then I would maybe avoid this as it’s quite a walk through the salt mines and also it’a a large group of you so you need to keep up. The slides you do not have to do as they have slopes you can walk down. The sound of music tour again was amazing and the guide was so informative but accessibility wise you’re not able to get to the spots on a huge coach so you do have to walk for a little time and where it is all timed it doesn’t get those who are less able to walk far time so some people ended up staying on the coach to avoid being late back. So they then essentially missed some of the spots. Also the gardens where last as that’s where they drop you off but we didn’t get dropped until after 6pm and I would have liked to spend some time in these so we are going back to look at the gardens another time on our stay. They do sell drinks on the coach and they do stop at some beautiful views so you can take pictures etc.

Panorama tours. The Salt mine and sound of music tour.

Panorama fill the coaches to full capacity so some people/families were not seated together this included us. Our tour guide for the morning was Daniel he was very nice but spoke quickly and was sometimes hard to follow On the journey the driver dropped the people who were visiting The eagles nest first. The coach then preceded to the salt mines. This tour was very good. We entered the mine by train then a walk then a wooden slide, a boat ride on the lake another slide then back up by funicular railway. On the way back to Salzburg the coach stopped to pick up the people who were on the Eagles nest tour, another stop was at a village for refreshments or just wonder. Then back to Salzburg for our afternoon Sound of Music tour. The coach was full but Single traveler’s sat together. This time we were able to sit with our friends. Simon was our guide he was brilliant very informative and also very entertaining. The film locations were spectacular. We all had a great time.

The Salt mine trip was very good. However our tour guide Daniel spoke quickly and was a little hard to understand. Our group of 4 were not able to sit together on the coach which was not good for us. The Sound of Music tour was very good. Our tour guide Simon was very informative and great fun. We had brilliant afternoon.

Salt mine tour was a great experience. Tour was interesting and well done. The slides were fun. Sound of music tour was good as well. Several private properties that were a drive by, but it was a worthwhile trip.

Good guide who was amusing. Safe driver and plenty of time to enjoy places we visited. Very comfortable bus.

Value for money

Both guides were very friendly and knowledgeable - Andrew on the salt mines tour and Mitch (and driver Fernando) on the Sound of Music. Didn't feel rushed at any of the stops, considering the time frame of the tours. Everyone we had contact with at Panorama was friendly and helpful. These tours have been two of the highlights of our holiday.

We are happy to give great reviews to Panorama tours.com, our Salt Mine) tourist guide Alenka was great, she was gracious and knowledgeable unfortunately, at the minesite, the German guy did not speak English or chose to talk in German only, the sound device giving to both of us did not work, or only explain for 2 seconds, but the guide spoke for 2 minutes! This was the only BAD part, the rest was great. Beautiful Brigette, our Sound of Music tourist guide was more than what we had hope for, our trip was the best, everybody the whole bus was full of the best fans in the world. This was my childhood, and still today dream to go on this tour as my husband put it, “this was epic, to see my my wife happy in a way I haver seen her” I am extremely happy and grateful. THANK YOU Our 40th anniversary gift was the best experience ever❤️🇦🇹🇩🇪

Great day of touring

Two tours in one day with supersaver. Morning salt mines and afternoon sound of music. Both were excellent! Tour guides were both friendly, funny and really informative. Great experience all round.

Great trip

This was so interesting and informative! Beautiful countryside drive up to Wolfgang lake. Mitch our tour guide made it amazing. Haukey our driver and Mitch were quite entertaining

Dispointed

Great Tour but little disappointed that price pay that company didn’t have some sound equipment for when the tour guide was of the bus and talking to 50 people which made hard to hear

Our day trip was mid-April and was great and felt close to a private tour. Our first portion was the salt mine which was interesting and was a fun excursion with slides and salt. Our minibus had four people in it. We had an hour for lunch outside the salt mine. We then had 45 minutes to wait at the pickup spot before the Sound of Music tour. This was a 69 person bus with 40 people on it. Even though it rained, we had a lot of fun and would recommend this day trip.

Good day of touring Salzburg

This wasn’t a bad tour (the Sound of Music), but more information going into it would have been helpful. At the end of the tour we were shown a video excerpt from the Sound of Music that talked about the filming locations. Viewing this at the start of the tour would have been helpful. We really enjoyed the salt mine tour! It was our young daughter’s favorite part of the tour. Learning the history of how important salt was to the region was fascinating.

Birget was an excellent tour guide, was very knowledgeable and made it fun. She was very accommodating for our group which had limited mobility. Walter was also a great tour guide for the Salt Mines and Berchtesgaden tour.

Worth the experience

The combo tour is very convenient. The first half of the day was Berchtesgaden and the salt mines. Only 30 minutes to wander around Berchtesgaden itself. I would have liked to spend more time exploring the town and if you want to get a quick glance around it's not bad. The mine tour is very interesting. There is an option for not sliding if you don't want to. Once we returned from the first part the Sound of Music tour was next. If you are here in the winter time I recommend booking this separate as when you return to Mirabell Garden it is dark and the garden is not well lit. However the tour itself is fun, informative, and offers some amazing countryside views. Well worth doing it you have a short amount of time in Salzburg.
