Best of Mozart Concert and Dinner or VIP Dinner at Fortress Hohensalzburg

A magical night!

We really enjoyed our evening at the Fortress. The food at the restaurant was just so-so, but that may just be a palate preference. We booked the VIP experience and had a table right next to the window with sweeping views of Salzburg and second row at the concert. Getting up to the Fortress using the funicular was quick and easy (keep your tram ticket as you need it to get back down). The concert was truly exceptional, it's in a different location you walk to after dinner. The performers were flawless. They perform in a room in the top of the fortress with open windows behind them, again overlooking Salzburg. There are a lot of stairs to get to the performance area. Well worth it but there's no elevator. It was pouring rain when we left and we couldn't get a taxi back. If you want to make sure you have transportation book it ahead of time. The concert, the views, the surroundings were spectacular. We highly recommend this experience even if the food was just ok. You will want to dress appropriately, it wasn't hot when we were there but I think it could be.

Absolutely Lovely Evening

I loved the fortress/castle and only wish I had more time in Salzburg to go back and explore it at length. We had the VIP dinner and it was awesome. I was sad that the weather didn’t cooperate with us to sit outside, but we still had gorgeous views. Yes, it did get quite warm in the concert, even though it was a cool night. I would suggest a hand fan. The musicians were excellent though and I’m very glad we went. Overall, It was the highlight of my trip.

Amazing evening at fortress Hohensalzburg

The dinner and concert were excellent. The views from the top of Fortress Hohensalzburg were breathtaking . It is definitely worth taking the VIP tickets as that gives you a table with awesome views and the front seats at the concert. Would definitely recommend this .

Mozart dinner and concert

The dinner was very good but we really enjoyed the concert. The sun was setting and the view from the top of the fortress was amazing!

Dinner was excellent! The crew from the fortress was spectacular and we got to watch a thunderstorm roll in. The concert was fantastic! Great venue, beautiful music! We loved it. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful view of Salzburg from the window of the restaurant. Our waiter was professional and personable. He was kind and very helpful. Our meal was served hot and tasted very good. The concert we very enjoyable. The room is as packed and yet it felt very intimate. The musicians were outstanding and played many lovely pieces. We highly recommend this event. It was a great experience.

Best of the best

Of all the Salzburg experiences, this was by far the most memorable and elegant. The VIP meal was extraordinary and the concert was beyond amazing. We could not recommend this any more than to say it was magical. The fortress was a huge part of the experience.

Wonderful

The concert and food was delicious, the manager/owner of the restaurant was very helpfull. We got lost and it was raining. The manager met us and offered us a ride with his personal car to our hotel. Unforgettable and beautiful experience.

A magical evening

Beautiful music and setting. Will be a special memory. The music chosen was perfect for the venue and we all enjoyed the meal too and the staff were very attentive. The views at dusk over the city are lovely.

The dinner was nice, views breathtaking and concert amazing. Well worth the money and experience. Highly recommend if visiting Salzburg.

Lovely last evening

We opted for the standard dinner with allocated seats in the concert hall. Took awhile to check you in but once at the table service was prompt and efficient. Although the drinks menu doesn't mention it you can get glasses of wine and also half bottles. We each had a prosecco and a 0.5l of wine = €30. The Vip folk got what looked like beef tenderloin and then the local specialty dessert Nokerel. Our pud was a choc mouse with berries. I thought the pace of the food / service was right. Meal finished by 8 pm and concert started at 8.30. They played for 40 mins had a 20 min break and then played for another 30 mins. Although I'm not a huge classical music fan I enjoyed it and the music wasn't too "heavy".

Delicious dinner and wonderful music

Music was beautiful and to get to listen in a castle in the hometown of Mozart was fantastic. The hall was very warm, dress appropriately. Dinner was delicious but felt a bit rushed to make it though all of the courses with enough time to saunter over to the konzert and take in the atmosphere.

Simply fantastic

The food was awesome. The music brought tears of joy to my wife and adult daughters. Well worth it. The atmosphere fit the experience

A Fantastic Concert in an Amazing Venue

The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. The meal was great but the highlight was the concert itself. It was truly an experience my wife and I will never forget.

Best Concert Experience, but for the audience.

The concert and dinner were phenomenal!!! I couldn't recommend the VIP Dinner more! The wait staff were friendly, the food was tremendous, and the music was very well performed. The audience applauded between movements which is very gauche, but that was the only flaw.

Will definitely recommend this excursion but with cautions to truly understand the various meal plans.

Concert was amazing! The meal was acceptable. Our server gifted us with a Salzburg knockerl for dessert. I was unaware that there different dinner options (menu selections). Your app mentioned the golden package but was not clear that there menu selections available.

AMAZING!!

Absolutely amazing. We did the golden ticket. Worth every penny. The dinner was very good, plan to be very hungry it is a lot of food. Thee concert was AMAZING!! The musicians were so talented. We were escorted to our front row seats and treated to about 90 minutes of the most beautiful music. There are quite a few steps to go up to get to the concert room so if you have difficulty with stairs maybe its not for you.

Incredible Music and Views

Lovely incline railway ride to the top of the fortress. We were early for our dinner time, so we walked around to take in the panoramic views of the city and mountains. Dinner was great. My husband especially loved the dessert! Next, we walked over to the concert hall. The room was incredible and the music absolutely enchanting. As the sun set, we were able to see the most beautiful view of the city skyline. Truly a great evening!

Excellent experience in a historic setting

The abilities of the musicians is amazing. It’s a small venue six rows of seating there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

The Dinner & Mozart Concert at the Fortress exceeded ALL our expectations!! The views were spectacular, the meal was excellent, and the concert itself was absolutely delightful! And I’ve never been to a Mozart concert before!! Truly an outstanding evening!! Would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone visiting Salzburg!

Magnificent night at the fortress

Incredible night! What talent! Such an enjoyable night listening to Mozart classics in an incredible fortress. We had a wonderful dinner prior and thoroughly enjoyed the talent. Would highly recommend.

Highlight of our trip

I am not sure why people are complaining about the food. This was an amazing experience and both my husband and I had a fantastic time. The food was so delicious and well cooked and the views from the restaurant are breathtaking. Our server was very attentive and the musicians were incredible. This was a highlight for us on our trip!

Wonderful concert and wonderful food.

We bought the category 2 tickets. Our food was delicious (bread and dips, soup, chicken with truffle mashed potatoes and the Mozart dessert). The restaurant had an amazing view. The concert was after the dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the quartet of musicians play some of Mozart greatest hits and other songs too. They were fabulous. We had snow outside but the room was still warm and the seats were comfortable.

Wonderful concert

The concert was fabulous. I expected higher quality food. The from the restaurant are wonderful. Appreciated that the ride in the funicular to the top was included.

A great night out

Lovely views from our table, food was good but not amazing but the concert was amazing. A really good evening.

Great service

Dinner was nice. We got a great window seat. Our server was amazing. He he was able to accommodate my husband's food allergy and order him a special dinner which My husband thoroughly enjoyed. He also had no problem switching the included wine to beer for us. The best service we received at a restaurant in Salzburg. The concert was enjoyable. Unfortunately, we did not get to walk around the fortress because the weather was really bad.

Best night out in Salzburg!

What a wonderful evening! The fun ride up in the cable car and the beautiful view from the fortress, the evening was off to a a very good start. The three-course dinner with wine and coffee was one of the best meals I’ve had anywhere, let alone with the amazing view from the window. To top it all off, the Mozart concert after dinner was excellent. The pianist and string quartet were extremely talented musicians who obviously enjoyed themselves, as did we. I thoroughly recommend this experience and also strongly advise to choose the VIP dinner as it’s really good value for what you experience during the evening.

Worth every penny

The dinner service was elegant and the meal was delicious. The best part, however, was the concert. Piano player was the best we’ve ever heard and the strings performances were superb.

Not cheap , but worth it… VIP+

Great staff, tremendous views, good food and a group of musicians that appeared to really enjoyed sharing their talents. Overall an excellent time.

Concert is not so good as expected.

Dinner was an average level. We disappointed the concert. Each player maybe good, but I do not feel that they have musically good ensamble.

Average experience

I purchased the basic meal and concert package. The meal was average - chicken breast and rice, with a nice soup and a good dessert. Only two waitstaff for around 100 guests. This was not a problem with serving the meals but paying for extras like a beverage was very slow and delayed the start of the concert. The concert was quite good, although the last section of traditional Austrian Advent folk tunes was less impressive for non- Austrians. Funicular capacity was overwhelmed after the concert. There may be better options held in churches or other venues.

Worth it!

The food for the dinner was really good, much better than I expected. The concert was excellent and atmospheric with the location. My only criticism was that they only had one person selling drinks at intermission. The long was very long.

Fortress - 10, Dinner -6, concert-2

The part we enjoyed was going up to the fortress by funicular and also the meal. The food wasn't amazing, but we didn't expect it to be. It was nice enough, and the restaurant was a lovely setting. The concert, I'm afraid, was awful. The musicians were not great, and they ended the concert with "Salzburg Christmas music", I've no idea what that was all about and the whole thing sounded worse than your average primary school concert, without the excitement of seeing your own little offspring perform.

Great music! But not as good food.

The concert was amazing. Great musicians and amazing location. Food however was more like bad wedding plated. Staff never checked back with us for more drinks. Do the concert, skip the dinner.

A wonderful memory!

A special treat for our wedding anniversary we opted for the Golden VIP dining & Mozart Concert. Worth every penny! A beautiful location , excellent food , drink and service ! Followed by a wonderful concert . Highly recommend

Relaxing Evening

Concert was beautiful & musicians were very skilled. Dinner was delicious & our service was first class.

Not what we expected!

The meal, which was average, started at 6pm, as per the booking information, to allow 2 hours to eat before the concert started at 8pm, but large groups arrived after 6.30pm. By 8.15 when the concert began, the concert hall, a 2 minute walk from the restaurant, was only half full. Throughout the first half of the concert the music was continually interrupted, as groups of people entered the relatively small hall, and were shown to their seats. The one good aspect was the quality of the musicians who were exceptional - when they could be listened to without interruption!

Disappointing

This was not my first experience so I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and the concert venue had been changed fron the previous beautiful old hall to a cold and cramped hall where I had previously shared coffee with a friend. The musicians were amateurish and I thought acoustics poor.

Wonderful evening!

We had an amazing evening. The dinner exceeded our expectations with phenomenal service and appetizing, tasty offerings. The concert following was beautiful and the musicians were exceptional. Additionally, the host was very accommodating with a great sense of humor and the price was more than fair. We would highly recommend this evening of entertainment to anyone visiting Salzburg.

Excellent Dinner and Concert

The dinner featured regional favorites which were excellent. The concert was very enjoyable and much longer than I expected--over 1 hour with a short break. I believe this experience is a must do when visiting Salzburg.
