New life experience in Salzburg!

Enjoyed talking with other families while eating and hearing about their travels. Great cooking with our daughters. Enjoyed learning something new, and the lunch was delicious.

Great class

It was a great couple of hours making and tasting Strudel and Nockerl. The Goulash soup was served before our deserts which was very good. Just the right amount of time for a little break from sight seeing and the crowds!

Hysteria

Tourist trap!!! They try to get rid of you the moment you stepped in the door. Everything is done quickly, you can say even historically!!! Before you start eating they already come to pick your glass plate etc… the recipe for the Salzburger Nockerl doesn’t work right it tase like a sweet omelette! The way they teach you to make leaves chunks of cocked yolks inside. Was delivered by a very nervous & hysterical instructor!! Very very disappointing!!!!

Yummy and fun!!

We had a great time! Selena and Banjour (not her or name spellings) made it a lot of fun. Everything was delicious too! I would highly recommend this as a fun activity in Salzburg. Location is very cool too!

Delicious and fun.

Such a very pleasant experience and gorgeous kitchen. The chef and the helper were exceptional. The strudel and nokerl were delicious. I highly recommend this tour and education.

An excellent way to learn a new dessert in a beautiful location surrounded by sweet smells

Four of us enjoyed a day at Edelweiss. The instructors were excellent and personable. There was an opportunity for all of us to get our hands on things and participate. We made two desserts that baked while we had a wonderful soup and glass of wine. Because there were four of us, we had our own table and ingredients. I would do this again and again. It was so much fun and I walked away with a Trapp family cookbook along with great pictures and memories of a super fun experience.

Convivial and Fun Experience!

A hands-on, interactive and fun experience learning how to make Apple Strudel. Starting with a dough stretching demo by our welcoming and lively instructor, Agnes. After a fun session stretching the dough, we assembled our strudel and then sat down for lunch and conversation with the other class members. Very convivial atmosphere. Afterwards, it was time to sample the Apple Strudel fresh out of the oven and it was delicious! This class was one of the highlights of our Salzburg trip. Thanks to Agnes and her crew for a wonderful experience!

Family fun!

Great experience for our family! We are a family with three older boys (college and high school) and who have very little baking knowledge. We had a great day learning to bake authentic Austrian desserts which tasted delicious. Instructors were fun and explained everything so well. Highly recommend!!!

An evening cooking strudel

Good time

Class was very well organized and efficient. Selen and her assistant’s instructions were clear and easy to follow. However when we looked up the recipe on line we found a few things different from our video. Wish we could have had the recipe during class to make notes.

Cooking made Fun

Great class! Instructors were patient, knowledgeable and kind. Lunch was delicious! The strudel was fabulous! Awesome experience!

Fun, unique activity and location

Took the class with my adult daughter. We both really enjoyed it. The women who ran the class were friendly and helpful. While our strudel finished baking, we were served a delicious bowl of beef goulash. They also had beer/wine and other drinks available for purchase. The site is very unique, built into the side of a mountain with a cave-like feel which was very interesting. I would recommend this as something different from some standard tourist activities.

The experience was absolutely brilliant. Learnt how to make apple strudel and made our own which we got to eat. Also had some soup for lunch. It was a hugely enjoyable couple of hours.

Could have been better … disappointing as a cooking class

I only gave it 3 stars as it was not as I anticipated ….if you are looking for something different to do …. it would be a 5 stars as the ladies were delightful, food was good…but as a cooking instruction it was a 3 …. the strudel dough was already prepared before we arrived as it has to “rest” in the fridge for two hours …. No hands on preparing the dough…we just watched as host prepared ….didn’t provide a receipt … have to go on Facebook to retrieve … not a Facebook fan and believe based on the price of the tour have the receipt on hand to take a picture …. Or better yet emailing the specific link or emailing the receipt would have be more appropriate. NO receipts were provided …have to go to Facebook to access … this is a public Facebook …. I have still not been able to find the full detailed receipt for dough and filling …. was disappointing as easily could have been a 5 stars …. 1. Provide receipts … 2. Hands on dough as a practice …. I understand this would not be the dough we used …. They did offer to contact them for the receipts … but too difficult 😞 … I hope this feedback is reviewed and receipts are emailed to me …. and adjustments are made to the class … or description.

Strudel made easy

This was a fun hands class. They took the fear out of making strudel and made it reasonable to make at home. The mountain soufflé was a unexpected surprise in that I had no clue what it was before class. We were served a nice goulash while our desserts baked. I would do this class again

Fun little class

I'm glad we did this, it was a pleasurable way to spend an hour and a half. They definitely have this down so you get done and gone. I personally think it would be more fun to liven it up. They are a bit bossy and rush people. The most fun part was visiting with the class mates. If you have a good class you'll enjoy this. I was also surprised at how easy it was to make a streudal. We enjoyed making the Salzburg merengue dessert (forget the name) I would recommend. The only thing I didn't like was how stuffy and warm it was in the room.

Delicious

Very nice hosts. Delicious dishes. All in all a very nice experience. I went with my 10 year old daughter and my 83 tear old mother. We had a lovely time cooking together

Delicious Strudel

This was a great cooking class on our last day in Salzburg. The instruction was superb and the class size was just right. The food was phenomenal.

Fun way to learn to make strudel

This was a fun way to spend a few hours while touring Salzburg. The final apple strudel was delicious and not difficult to make. I am a baker and could easily follow the instructions but I also think anyone could make it. The dough was premade when we got there due to the chilling time required, but our instructor Selen demonstrated how to make the dough so that we could try it when we got home.. Selen was very helpful, walking around to each table to show us the technique of stretching the dough. I was not a fan of the nockerl, but the strudel was excellent. My only complaint is that the recipes were not included with the class. Every cooking school or class that I have attended from the CIA to home based classes in Florence included the recipes for what you learn to prepare. I bought the Edelweiss Cookbook at the end of the class, but it should have been given to everyone. There are very few recipes in the book but it does have the strudel.

This was such a fun experience and activity to do while in Salzburg. We had a wonderful time, would definitely recommend for couples and small groups.

Great cooking activity while in Salzburg.

Fun way to spend an afternoon, cooking in a cave in Salzburg! We made traditional Apple Strudel and Knodel, and were served soup lunch while the desserts baked. Our instructor was very good with helpful tips and demonstrations. The class location is an old cave so everything about this class was interesting. Price was reasonable, and we had an interesting group of about 10 classmates from around the world.

Worthwhile experience.

Enjoyed this experience and was amazed at how good it tasted. Let’s hope I can make it when I return home.

Was a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon in Salzburg.. the cooking class was friendly informative and super easy to follow. Overall a fun afternoon with great staff not only did we get lunch I am now a world renowned Strudel nockerl baker all from this one class Thanks

Who Knew .... It was fun...

Who Knew .... It was fun and easy. Drink beer and enjoy homemade Strudel, perfect afternoon. Salzburg is a beautiful city, so having a relaxing moment to enjoy a cultural experience was amazing.

Great eating, not much learning

We enjoyed the class with Agnes and her helper. We were happy that we actually got to stretch the dough for our strudel. However, finding the recipe has been a challenge. It seemed unfair to us to pay extra for a recipe that we were told many times, has not changed for 500 years. We also asked specific questions about the type of flour to purchase at home and it was not clear what to buy. The types recommended have not been easy to find in Germany. If you want a fun afternoon, this was excellent. The venue is excellent. A cave in the mountain. If you have hopes of making this when you return home, I am afraid it will still be a challenge.

Great Experience For All!

Our cooking lesson was wonderful! Myself, sister, and grandparents really enjoyed both of our instructors, both the desserts, and the lunch that was served. Highly recommend!

Great experience!

The apple strudel class was much more fun than I expected. We got to experience the entire process, plus make the Salzburger Nockerl. And have a tasty lunch. And we took home our leftovers to eat in our hotel later. I would highly recommend this experience. Great fun!

Strudel lesson

This was a fun experience. We really enjoyed Agnes and her helper. We actually got to try some of the techniques. We were however disappointed that the recipe was not given. We were told to find it on line, but after checking, we have found it to be incomplete. In fact we were charged an extra 5 Euros for some recipes. We were told multiple times that it was a well known recipe. Sigh. We also were surprised to be charged for a non alcoholic beverage when we were told that we would be served lunch. Who serves lunch without a beverage? I would still recommend but be ready for extra charges after having paid a fee for the experience.

Incredibly fun

Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg was incredible fun! It was a great way to feel connected with the food culture in Salzburg by creating your own delicious strudel. The instructor was very pleasant and made this a fun experience for us. Also had very tasty goulash for lunch and got to eat our creations for dessert.

Fun and interactive in a cool space!

My wife and our friends had a great time at this cooking class! It's a cool set up of a storefront that's literally built into a mountain - so you kinda feel like you're inside a 'chic cave' while you get your bake on. The teachers were both very kind, welcoming, and made even novice bakers feel confident that they could participate and do a great job with their creations. With our teacher's instruction, we made a hearty and tasty apple strudel that we were able to enjoy fresh out of the oven. The portion size was MORE than enough for us to eat, so were able to take some to-go and, since we were leaving back to the U.S. the next day, it made for a great mid-flight treat on the way back! We also made their Salzburg's native "Nockerl" dessert, which was fun and also very enjoyable to eat! For lunch, they also prepared us a homemade goulash, which went down easy along with our strudel and nockerl! If you're in Salzburg and want to take a break from all the beautiful sightseeing, give this a shot. It's fun, interactive and you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor right on the spot. I highly recommend!

A delicious way to spend an afternoon in Salzburg

The class was a lot fun and delicious. The instructor was helpful and patient, encouraging us to be fearless with our strudel dough. The venue was unique, warm and welcoming. We very much enjoyed the class and eating our accomplishments.

Easy, fun and tasty

This was such a fun class and the recipes were so easy I’m going to make them at home. Soup was amazing too. We broke out into groups to make the strudel and then each made our own nockerl cloud, which were baked while we ate soup. Then we enjoyed our desserts. Everything was pre-prepped for an easy and fun experience.

The instructors were fabulous, informative and patient. It was a lot of fun to learn how to make the strudel and then enjoy it with our lunch. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Best cooking class ever!

Fun experience, enjoyed with a wonderful group of “co-chefs”, with many laughs. The young lady who led the class was amazing in her delivery, and made making strudel so easy we will definitely do it at home.

A must to do in Salzburg to break the day up

We were a family of 3, 1 teenager which was a nice experience to do in the afternoon in between exploring Salzburg. The chef was younger than expected but very patient and explained the procedure well and very polite and pleasant. The lunch was tasty and the strudel was amazing. The atmosphere was great, lovely chatty crowd whilst waiting for our strudel to be cooked. Fun and easy going experience. Well worth the money.

Great experience to add as part of your Salzburgh’s visit

Great experience and fun class. Instructors were super nice and helpful. Super easy recipe. Would have love to have a little more time for both recipes and lunches felt a little rushed for 1 1/2 hrs. Bought the cookbook. At least the Apple strudel recipe will benefit from revision and addition of all the other details shared in class. The step where the apples are added is missing and no word on freezing the strudel, the specific type of flour recommended, the rule of two when it comes to the measurements of ingredients or that the dough needs to rest in the fridge. Details that are relevant for someone like me that loves to cook and wants to do the authentic recipe. Other than that, it’s worth the experience!

The chef teaching the class was very knowledgeable and helpful as well as entertaining. We met many friendly people and shared many experiences.

Fantastic cooking class with great hosts and yummy food. We had a great time here and will definitely be cooking at home what we learned here. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience

This class was so much fun and a great experience for my children who are 10 and 12 as well. The teacher made it so enjoyable and relaxed and the lunch while our strudels baked was delicious! We would recommend this for anyone spending a few days in Salzburg.

Fab, tasty fun fun fun

From the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel welcome and it becomes a fun experience. The atmosphere is light and there’s no stress about making strudel even for the inexperienced. The process is demonstrated and made simple for you, enabling you to cook up a tasty dessert. The staff are helpful and friendly and there was much laughter and a great atmosphere. The other dessert we made (Knockfurl?!) was also fun and the beef stew we had was delicious. This is a great event for couples, family or friends where all can join in.
