Such a fun experience, our guide Luis Andres was the perfect captain! He gave us good lesson beforehand and gave us heads up to prepare for each fun ride through the rapids! The entire trip was amazing too, from the pickup, to the photography, and the waterfall stop. We had sooooooooo much fun! Thank you!

Amazing Time!

We were all set.... whitewater rafting in Costa Rica...! Nothing was going to stop us... monsoons, hole in the raft, wild animals... we were prepared for everything... except for MANGANY... Our guide Mangany had us bent over laughing from start to finish.... face painting, plant eating, "Costa Rican Bull Riding".... how can a guide be this incredible? Simply put, passion!! The river was great and the scenery amazing, but Mangany is who really made it unforgettable... Have to also say the company and team were absolutely great as well... they went above and beyond to take care of us Thanks for the incredible time... Pure Vida, Mangany and Team!

Do it, without hesitation!

Our first day in Costa Rica was a raft trip with this amazing tour group. Upon arrival, every person was welcoming, good hearted and seemed to genuinely love their job. The smell of the lunch being prepared was wonderful. This was the perfect start to our 2025. We are a family of four (including 2 college age kids) from Colorado and this wasn’t our first time rafting but it was a first in a Costa Rican downpour. By the time we got to the launch site, it was raining heavily but as soon as we hit the water, it wasn’t an issue at all. It’s actually the perfect adventure on a rainy day in CR. And the views…there just aren’t words. We absolutely hit the jackpot with our guide Luis. Knowledge, fun facts, going above and beyond in sharing his insights, experience and love for the culture (with some dad jokes along the way). On the water, he navigated us through class 3 rapids and made it so much fun for all of us. Snacks included the best pineapple I’ve ever had. This company does this every day but they bring a fresh and fun energy to those lucky enough to experience this trip for the first time.

Fantastic Fun on the Savergre - Loved our guides.

This was our second trip to CR, first time to Manual Antonio. This was one of our favorite tours, if not one of our all time favorite tours in Costa Rica mostly due to the service and personality of Amigos Del Rio. First, communication via email and tripadvisor prior to our activity was clear, responsive and timely. Once we were picked up, we felt like we were on a private tour even though our trip included another party of 3 (there were 4 of us in our party). The 3 guides on our bus where personal, funny and informative with regards to the history of Costa Rica and culture in the area. We started with a home cooked meal at their office which also felt like we walked into someone's home. It's a 1.5 hour drive to the river, we were entertained by our guides the whole time. Once at the river, there was another crew that helped with unloading rafts, etc. The Savergre River has to be one of the cleanest and clearest rivers that I have ever seen. Even though we were in the beginning of the dry season, it had the perferct combination of serenity with exciting rapids mixed in. Part way through, we pulled off to a private waterfall for swimming, pictures and fresh fruit & cookies. Like other reviews, the pictures (a photographer paddles ahead in a kayak) are ridiculously expensive at $70. I tired to negotiate and offered to pay $50 but the photographer was having none of it and wasn't happy that neither party on the tour purchased tickets. We but photos at other excurisions such as ziplining were the photos were more reasonably priced at $40. We had a fabulous time with our guides and I would not hesitate to book this tour on a return trip. It is what Costa Rica is all about.

Highly reccomend

It was an incredibly fun activity, and was perfect for our 4 person family (10-45 years old). It was fun for people on both ends of the adrenaline spectrum, and our guide, Luis, made us feel safe the whole time. We also got a safety review at the beginning, preparing us, and high standard safety measures. As well as having fun, we also learned a lot about the surrounding environment on the bus ride there and during the rafting itself. We had a fun break where we saw a cool waterfall and had some snacks(fresh fruit and crackers). Our guide, Luis also sometimes did fun tricks, like spinning around and around, and sitting with our legs over the side(When it was safe), and told jokes. We also got to swim by the boat when the water was calm. All-in-all, It was a great thing to do when visiting the Manuel Antonio area!

Whitewater Rafting 10/10 Recommend!

We had an absolute blast on this rafting adventure! Luis and his team of professional guides are fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. It rained the entire time we were rafting, but the rain did not put a damper on our fun. The rafting adventure starts with a bus ride up the mountain, then a couple of hours of rafting down the river. The rapids are super fun, and our guide Jesus did an excellent job of giving instructions, pointing out wildlife, and making sure we had a fun adventure. There is a waterfall stop about halfway down the river, which is beautiful. The “paparazzi” takes a ton of pictures, so no need to carry a phone or camera. Water and snacks are provided at the waterfall stop. Wear comfortable clothes and water shoes. You will get soaked, so bring a towel and extra clothes to leave on the bus for afterward. My family and I can’t say enough good things about this exciting, beautiful trip down the river and the really nice, funny guides who made this day special. PURA VIDA!!!

Best part of the Costa Rica Trip!

What an absolute blast! Went with whole family including two young boys. Both had the time of their life. Our guide Mangany was super fun, interactive, full of information and made the whole trip worth a lot more. Highly recommend!

Rafting and waterfall tour

We had a great white water rafting experience with Luis. Overall the tour takes safety very seriously. It was very well organized and the rapids were a lot of fun. The stop at the waterfall was beautiful. They provided a snack at the waterfall stop and lunch at the end. We paid extra to receive photos of our tour and this turned out to be a bit disappointing. We were promised 70 photos and received 30. There were some great shots of the rapids but the waterfall which was beautiful was not captured in the photos.

What an amazing experience! The scenery was stunning, and the rafting was a thrilling adventure. Our guide, Andres, was excellent—he was knowledgeable about the area and made the trip even more enjoyable. The waterfall stop and fresh pineapple were such a refreshing bonus! Highly recommend this adventure!

The best way to spend a day in Manuel Antonio!

Such a fun activity for our whole family! Some of us had been rafting before, but others were new to it. I checked in advance to see if all 7 people in our group could be in one raft. They picked us up right on time, and Luis kept us entertained for the drive to the office and out to the river. Our guide was Jonathan, and he was a pro. He was so kind of our kids, and we always felt completely safe! After the rafting trip, we had a great lunch, too. We would definitely recommend this activity!

Such fun

Great experience for all. We brought kids ages 7-15 and everyone enjoyed it immensely. It was more than just the river rafting, but also the lunch and the remote villages they got to see.

Family of 7 from Texas… we had never been rafting but thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Ages 16-50- all of us had fun!

We had such a great time as a family on this adventure! Our guide was so fun- he knew what he was doing, communicated clearly, and was fun all at the same time. Would 💯 recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get out and enjoy some beautiful surroundings with some exercise and fun!!

Great rafting company

Fantastic experience. Great team at ADR. Jonathan was our first guide and assisted with the transport. Jesus was our rafting captain. They were all very fun, knowledgable and friendly. Excellent experience on the river.

Great adventure

What a fun day! From start to finish everything was done with a smile and was so well organised. Our instructor was Luis and he definitely made this day a success. We loved his jokes and appreciated his immense knowledge. Our kids had an amazing time and could not stop talking about the experience.

Honeymoon fun!

Kenneth was our guide and we had a blast! I’ve been fortunate to float a few rivers in the states, this was one of the best floats I’ve been on! Definitely recommend!!

Top notch customer service and guides! The rafting experience was so much fun but our guide, Kenneth, made the whole experience next level fun and enjoyable. All of the guides and employees gave us the red carpet treatment and made sure to let us know they appreciated our business and support. And finally at the end of the day we met back at the home base for a truly delicious meal. Definitely put this on your “to do” list of Quepos, Costa Rica activities!

Great way to spend a morning in Manuel Antonio!!

We had a fantastic experience with Amigos del Río! They were fun, professional, and flexible when we made last minute changes to our reservation. Our rafting guide Ulysses was a lot of fun and extremely knowledgeable about local plants, animals and history. He definitely made our day special. The river was beautiful and the class II-III rapids were fun and easy. We went with two adults and four teenagers and everyone had a perfect day. We highly recommend!

Incredible. Must try.

What an amazing and fun experience. It was my first time white water rafting and it could not have been a more epic experience. All of the guides were incredible, Jonathan, Ulises, Juancito and Jesus were so knowledgeable and fun. Jesus was our guide in our raft and it was clear that he’s an expert and very skilled at navigating the river and the rapids, and he made our entire experience so much fun. Also the river itself and the surrounding scenery was breathtaking, and the stop and snacks provided at the waterfall midway were incredible. It was an unforgettable experience from beginning to end and I highly recommend doing it through Amigos Del Rio (translates to friends of the river!). There is an extremely rough and bumpy road that takes about an hour to get to the river but the driver navigated it well and the drive was well worth the rafting experience.

Just the right amount of “adventure”

My friend and I completely lucked out-our boat was just the two of us with our amazing guide, Andres, and our safety kayaker/photographer, Don Juan. We also did not see another boat on the river so it was just unobstructed views and paddling the whole time!! Andres took excellent care of us on the river and was very clear on when to paddle and when to stop. I was very happy we chose the level II/III rapids experience as it was just the right amount of “adventure” for us. Andres also did a great job of pointing out the wildlife and vegetation on the more tranquil parts of the river. Don Juan did a great job of making us look like we were professional rafters. Our driver, Don Albie, did an excellent job navigating the “road” to and from the river, and the traditional lunch (chicken, rice, and beans) served at the end was delicious. I definitely recommend booking with Amigos Del Rio if you are looking to get on the river and paddle while in Costa Rica. We were picked up at 8am and back at our resort around 1:30pm.

Great first time white water rafting in Costa Rica!

Highly recommend this tour and tour group. This was our first time white water rafting and the team made it a great, exciting and safe time. Jesus was a great guide along with the rest of the team. The river was beautiful and a site to see and experience. The lunch served at the end of the tour was also excellent, compliment to the chef! Thanks for a great time!

A GREAT drive into the mountains and a really FUN river trip.

We travelled from Colorado to the Manuel Antonio area and had an amazing river trip! Amigos Del Rio has high quality equipment (big 4 wheel drive truck, boats, safety equipment, etc.). Our guide Ulysses, the safety support kayaker, and driver were fun but very professional. They are all very knowledgeable, passionate, and patient as they taught us all we needed to know to make the river trip a blast. We stopped halfway for a fresh fruit snack and a short level walk (300 feet) to a waterfall. We all took pictures, and then went behind and into the waterfall!! The level of whitewater was perfect for us (in our 60s) and kids too. There were flat areas for swimming and many fun whitewater areas - exhilarating, but not scary. This company gives you more river than most, as they are able to access the upper mountain areas with their custom built 4-wheel drive transport truck. The drive up into the mountains was bumpy but worth it to reach the upper river and see incredible views. We will definitely take another excursion with them!

Perfect for beginners but still thrilling!

Amazing experience. We were a little nervous as we had never done rafting before and had heard that the rivers were faster/higher than normal due to rain. Turns out we had nothing to worry about - this river is absolutely perfect for beginners and had the exact right balance of thrills whilst feeling safe the whole time! The guides are brilliant and even turned the hour long bus journey into a nature tour! One of the best things we did in Costa Rica.

Soo fun! A must do while in Manuel Antonio

We had a blast on this tour. It was myself and my son and the instructor, who was hilarious, made the trip special. (Also our safety guide in the kayak). We were the only ones on the river the day we went and had the waterfall to ourselves. I have never rafted but was provided great safety instructions and confident I can do it again. Thanks to the crew at Amigos del Rio!!!

Amazing experience! This was the highlight of our trip!

The rafting itself was fast and fun. However that wasn’t even the best part! There was a beautiful waterfall stop, we saw monkeys and plenty of colorful birds, the photographer took some amazing pictures. Did I mention the effort they went through to make it safe??? There was a driver, a photographer, a guide in the raft with us, and a guide in a kayak in case we fell in. It took 4 people to take our family of 4 on this trip. The guides are friendly and funny. 10/10 highlight of our trip.

Best day ever

I can’t recommend this trip enough. It was so much fun! The guides were true experts and so knowledgeable about the country. They make everything super convenient and fun. We went in pouring down rain and could not have had a better time.

Amazing experience

This experience was amazing! The guides were wonderful along with the photographer. Our group felt safe the entire time and we all had so much fun. This was a staple of our trip. The entire staff is wonderful and made this experience great!

First Timer Loved the Rugged Adventure

Went rafting with this group. They are so friendly and fun, but they kept us safe and we had a blast. I was a beginner, so the tour is perfect if you are looking to push your self a little but not so much it is dangerous. This is not a pampered experience. It is rugged and for us it was very wet and rainy but I highly recommend it. They are knowledgeable about the area as well and the food was good and welcome after such a long drive and then strenuous activity! The pictures were a bit expensive, so hopefully they work on that pricing a little bit. But we are happy we bought them.

Must Do in Manuel Antonio

This tour absolutely rocks! The experience itself is incredible from start to finish, and the guides are some of the best in the business. You feel completely safe the entire time, and it was an easy highlight of our whole trip! A huge thank you to Kenneth, Ulisses, Jose Sr and Jose Jr for making this such a treat!

The staff were awesome, friendly, and had great conversations, which made the whole experience very enjoyable. 100% recommend them for any activity they provide. Lunch provided end of the tour was great too.

Fantastic trip down the river

We had an amazing tour. The ride out is quite long and bumpy. But our tour guide was awesome, giving us great information about the local area and towns on the way up. The actual rapids were a ton of fun, the guides were great. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Food at the end was very good, as well.

Awesome White Water Rafting

We had the best time white water rafting in Costa Rica. Our guides Andres, Ulysses, and Juan were outstanding. My 9yr old son and 12 yr old daughter said it was their favorite adventure. We also took a break and hiked to a gorgeous waterfall to swim and take photos. They also took professional photos while we were rafting which were incredible. We felt safe in the hands of our guides and had the absolute best time. Highly recommend!

Must Do Excursion!

This experience was full of laughter, fun, wildlife, excitement and beauty. The guides and staff were so amazing and definitely made you feel safe throughout the tour. Can't wait to come back and do this again.

Some of the best and most consistent rapids I’ve ever had in a river. The guides were kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. This trip was amazing and one my family will never forget.

Amazing trip with very good guides

We went rafting with Josué. On the drive to the river he told a lot of stories about the area and was very funny. Before we got into to the boat he explained very clear what we could expect and how the rafting works. Not very long into the rafting my boyfriend and I both fell out of the boat going downstream. They got us back into the boat in no time. Even after this Josué made me feel safe. In the middle of the tour we stopped at a beautiful waterfall. The lunch that was provided when we got back was very tasty. We had a very good time !

White Water trip was so fun!!

This was our best experience of all the excursions we made while on vacation. The natural beauty of the river and valley are so pristine. The waterfall was amazing as well. Jose and his team are a lot of fun. They were very safe and professional on the river. I highly recommend this if you are considering it. You wont be disappointed.

Safe and fun

Both guides gave us a ton of info on CR culture and history. Loved the conversation and felt totally safe. Our family had a blast and thought I would lose my voice from screaming with glee!

Fun Rafting Trip

Great rafting trip. Pick up from our place was easy & the van getting to the river had ac. Once on the river I felt safe & had a fun time. It was cool to stop at a waterfall along the way.

It takes a village to orchestrate a proper whitewater raft trip! We are so thankful to have been with Ulysses and Crew. They appeared to have a great brotherhood with attention to detail. To help others have a good trip Use the bathroom in Silencio. If you are older with poor balance get in the biggest raft available.

Great time and outfit for rapids with a fam with a smaller child.

Great experience and time with the Amigos Del Rio. Day started with a trek up to the river trail start but not before stopping at a small village "restaurant" for some coffee and excellent empandadas . Ride was on longer side (2 hrs) but worth the extra distance. Jesus was an excellent guide and the stop at the waterfall was a nice bonus I was not expecting. Log day but safe and fun.

Awesome Experience

A great day for my family. The whole experience was wonderful. The guides were amazing. My daughters wanted to do it again. If you’re in Manuel Antonio, this is a must do!

We had a great time!!

Our tour guide, Jesus, was extremely funny and charismatic. The rafting was extremely enjoyable and we were taught a lot about the local customs and ecosystems of Manuel Antonio. The sightseeing was gorgeous as well. Photos were tad bit too expensive though. However, definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone!!
