Sunset Sails Tours Morning or Afternoon

We loved our relaxing...

We loved our relaxing afternoon on the water. The boat crew were friendly and attentive, the drinks and fruit they served us were delicious, and the boat gave us some gorgeous views of the beaches and some of the islands just off the shore. The snorkeling portion felt very safe, and our guides knew exactly where to lead us to have the best view of schools of fish underwater (and even some starfish). After snorkeling, we got a delicious lunch of fried fish and finished the afternoon with a gorgeous sunset view. If you're even slightly prone to motion sickness, make sure you take medication at least 30 mins before getting on the boat.

Amazing tour! Lots of energy and good times. Unlimited drinks however you need to bring your own beer. Loved it!

Unbelievable Beauty, Fun, and Happiness :)

This was an amazing way to end the day!! Sailing the coast of Quepos and Manuel Antonio, snorkeling, dancing, a yummy traditional meal, and a beautiful sunset :) Kevin was our 'cruise director' and he ensured we were all having a lovely time!! He was engaging, informative, and made us all comfortable. The drinks were great and the slide on the boat added to the fun!! One of our families great memories during our visit to Costa Rica.

Cancelled with no warning to make alternate plans

They cancelled less than 24 hours before the trip as they didn't have enough people. They did offer spots on the afternoon trip but that was not acceptable. They left us no time to make additional plans thus the 1 star rating.

Fun time

We had a great time despite the rainy weather. The crew was great super kind and friendly. This is a smaller group tour which was very nice, it was more personal and spacious. You have the opportunity to snorkel and swim- we ended up getting hives from either the fish or the reef but the staff has a spray that helps takes away the sting and the hives. The food was great and they are constantly asking if they can get you refills on your drink.

Relaxing cruise along the beautiful coast

We took our trip on an overcast Thursday AM. We weren’t able to find any marine wildlife, which was no fault of the crew. Most of the animals have moved on by this time of year. The crew did a great job of taking care of guests. The cruise itself was relaxing. We found a spot to snorkel and swim in the warm water of the sea. Drinks and lunch were great. Despite not seeing animals, it was an enjoyable experience.

Great Family Experience

We had a gorgeous morning of dolphin watching, snorkeling, and swimming. It was perfect for a family tour and lunch was delicious! The crew were very friendly and informative.

Loved The Morning Cruise With Sunset Sails and Were Fortunate to See Whales

What a wonderful morning tour we had with Sunset Sails. We went as a group of about 8 friends. First of all, Nature cooperated and we had a beautiful hot sunny day The boat itself was nice. It definitely was not too big or noisy. The crew was excellent. Minor, the guide has a great personality and made everyone feel welcome. The views of the coastline area were spectacular. Although seeing whales can never be guaranteed, we were so so fortunate to see some. It was amazing. There was an opportunity to either swim in the ocean or snorkel. Minor warned us that in reality the visibility for snorkelling would not be great. However, those who did choose to snorkel say they did see a few small fish. Most others chose to swim in the ocean, which was beautiful and refreshing, but not cold. The lunch was simple but very well prepared and tasty. It consisted of fish, rice and some vegetables. Throughout the cruise, they offered fresh juicy pineapple. Though drinks - both alcoholic and nonalcoholic were available, It definitely was not a “booze cruise”. Everything was well run and well organized. Everyone in our group had a great time. For me, it was a great way to spend a morning in a gorgeous area and getting a chance to see the majestic whales was really the icing on the cake! Highly recommended!!

Beautiful Views

My husband and I (from US) visited Costa Rica for our honeymoon. We did the morning tour. The boat crew was amazing, the boat ride was very smooth, the lunch provided was delicious, and the water activities (snorkeling + boat slide and jump platform) were very fun!

Best part of our trip

We took the morning boat tour with 7 family members. The staff was amazing, Michael and Kevin kept us entertained and our drinks full. The food was very good. We saw a family of Humpback Whales and were able to snorkel for about 30 mins. We highly recommend going. We all had a great time.

Do it!

Fantastic experience. Our guide, Minor was such a pleasure and the brightest personality. Kevin was also great and incredibly knowledgeable about the local ecosystem and animal life. Our guides got us incredibly close to a humpback whale mother and calf, such a great experience! I felt like we had a much better time than the other boats out and about because it was intimate and we truly felt like individual guests of locals. Lunch was amazing, they accommodated my vegetarian diet, drinks were great, absolutely recommend it!

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

This crew was amazing! They were very friendly and took good care of us. The crew was attentive and met our needs. We saw several whales, dolphins and a sea turtle and made sure we had a good view by pointing it out to us. The food was super delicious. I highly recommend doing this tour for adults and children alike. They even had a slide to go down on.

Fun experience

The sailing tour was fun and enjoyable! Had to knock off one star for the meal provided one of our group members did not want fish and had requested chicken. When the meal was given someone else took the chicken plate. There was only two chicken plates available so she had to eat just the rice & veggies. We saw whales, turtles, and some fish. We had more fun jumping!

Amazing experience!

My family and I attended the morning tour. I was extremely pleased with this tour. The customer service is top notch and very personalized. Minor was so kind and helpful to my family. We were able to see dolphins and whales! The captain is very thoughtful of the wildlife and made sure to stay a safe distance from them while still being able to see them well. The lunch was delicious! We will definitely be using Sunset Sails again in the future!

Beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable!

The catamaran tour was spectacular, relaxing, and beautiful out at sea. I would highly recommend Sunset Sails. The staff were very friendly and catered to our needs with drinks and a delicious fish/chicken lunch. The views of the shoreline were amazing and snorkeling for beginners was fine.

Day after 19 year wedding anniversary excursion

What a great experience from great staff. We highly recommend this tour. The captain, Kevin and the chef were great. we had to switch to days from night due to the weather at the time of our trip and journey. We were not let down what a great adventure and experience, and it was a pleasure conversing with Kevin and learning about the region and about him and learning and speaking with the captain. The chef prepared a lunch that is better than the majority of the restaurants around town. This is a great trip for all ages as usual just be mesmerized and relaxed with the beauty. Costa Rica has to offer.

A MUST!

Absolutely amazing boat tour!! We saw dolphins less than 15 minutes after leaving the dock. The snorkeling was so fun and we saw lots of fish. The fresh cooked meal on board was incredible and they had no problem making it vegan for us. There was plenty of space on the boat so have our own space even with all the other people on it. The slide was an added bonus!! The drinks were good enough considering they were unlimited! Highly highly recommend!

Great trip for all - even if you can't swim

Great experience, went with 3 kids 7-11yrs old. None of us have ever been snorkeling and I don't know how to swim. Guide Kevin stayed with me. All equipment is provided, drinks (alcoholic and non) and great lunch made on board fresh. There is a slide, or platform to jump off as well. Bathrooms very clean on board. All you need to bring is a towel. Saw dolphins and diff exotic fish.

Great Boating Experience

Minor was a great host. He was funny and personable. He took care of by ensuring we had everything we needed.

Peaceful boat ride

The views were amazing. The crew members were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great! We saw many beautiful fish while snorkeling.

Relaxing tour with friendly crew

My family of 5 had a great time on this boat tour. It was much less people on board than some of the other companies. Our guide Minor was very friendly. The boat had a slide and plenty of areas to sit. I do recommend bringing Dramamine because some people had issues getting sea sick. The lunch was fresh and delicious. The snorkeling was disappointing only because the water was murky but that’s not the company’s fault. Overall a very relaxing day.

Enjoyed!

Nice boat ride! Saw several dolphins, snorkeled an hour or so, and good lunch (fish or chicken), drinks included. I thought there would be more “guiding” by the guide. Didn’t really get much info from the guide or at least if there was I could not hear. We did enjoy! Would recommend swim shirt and lots of sunscreen. Worst sunburns of our trip, that’s on us, of course😆

Would try a different boat company

So so excursion. I love a good snorkel boat activity, we always book one every tropical vacation we go on. We've ben on quite a few. When we arrived at the boat we were a little disappointed compared to the other boats. It was clean and accommodating but no slide, no platform to jump from like the other boats. Welcoming drinks were so so. Like was there any even rum in them? A few of the people on our excursion got a little queasy from the drinks. Food was mediocre. Swimming was nice but how do you go wrong in a beautiful warm ocean? Was I disappointed yes? Would I go again? No. Then to top it off the host kept asking for tips and when I gave him one he complained how small it was. Just to pushy with asking for an "American tip" Our group had a lot of young couples and no one got a good buzz and was not amped up like the other groups on the other boats were.

They canceled at very last minute so we didn’t have time to book another tour. They should give 24 hours notice just like we are required to do. Weather on scheduled tour date was perfect

A dreamy morning on the high seas!

This was, hands down, one of the best experiences of our trip down to Costa Rica! When I originally had booked this excursion, I had booked it for the afternoon to try and catch the sunset, but they reached out to me and advised me that due to it being May and the rainy season, there would be a high chance of thunderstorms that would happen in the afternoon so it was best to go in the morning. We appreciated the heads up and good looking out! It ended up being a beautiful day and the waters were calm enough to see plenty of schools of fish while snorkeling around the reefs! They come right up to your face - they were beautiful! After snorkeling and sailing, we were treated with a delicious lunch made by the chef on the boat and it was some of the best tasting fish I’ve ever had, no joke. My boyfriend and I were blown away by the hospitality of everyone on the boat and would highly recommend this excursion to anyone, absolutely worth the money. Thank you so much for a beautiful morning on the high seas!

A fun trip off the coast

Originally was scheduled to take the sunset version, but the provider suggested the morning option due to proposed bad weather. The trip was fun and the onboard chef put together a wonderful meal to compliment the experience. Heartily recommended!

Free drinks!!

What a fun cruise. 2nd year in a row and even a year later Minor, Kevin and the crew remembered us. What a great bunch of folks. It's a fun trip out to where you can snorkel or just swim, use the slide or jump off the top of the slide. Super fun then you get one of the best meals you will get whether it's chicken or fish. And don't forget the free drinks alcoholic or non alcoholic. We have plans to do it again next year!!!!

Fun water cruise

Kevin, Christopher and crew made this cruise a very fun experience. Excellent communication, timely, clean, great food. We saw dolphins, went snorkeling, swimming and watched a beautiful sunset.

Smooth Sailing

This tour was so much fun. The views were spectacular, the crew and guide were amazing, and the drinks were flowing. We saw dolphins breaching the water, and my husband said the snorkeling excursion was the best thing he did in Costa Rica. Dinner was prepared on board and was delicious. I highly recommend this tour and would go on it again.

The crew and the food was amazing! They were fun and they made sure we knew about everything we were doing. The food was amazing and the drinks were good !

Great times and good vibes!

We had an absolute blast out on the boat partying, swimming, snorkeling, jumping, and sliding. Refreshing cocktails and delicious fish lunch all included. Plus the crew was amazing and so attentive. Excellent vibes. Would 100% book again for my next visit to Quepos.

Amazing day and sunset on the water.

The catamaran cruise was lovely. The boat was spacious and clean. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were delicious. Some music would have been nice. Also, several people in our party were seasick. Recommend taking motion sickness medicine if prone to motion sickness.

WOULD have been nice?

Unfortunately they cancelled our trip at the last minute due to mechanical problems, they then sent a WhatsApp saying they could get us on the afternoon trip the next day, we replied and asked for confirmation-which we didn’t receive. After another message sent to them, they then cancelled again-only to message us and say they could fit us in the next day. We declined!

Wonderful water excursion!

Such a fun and relaxing tour to enjoy the water and beautiful views of the coastline and the highest mountains of the country! The crew on this tour is top notch! So fun and friendly, yet still provided great service…felt totally taken care of!! Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful morning ride

Sunset Sails was wonderful! We did the morning tour on the trimaran. Cocktails were included, the boat wasn’t too crowded or loud, with a mix of families and young couples. This is a fun boat, but it’s not a spring break party boat. Cocktails are included in the price (ask Kevin for his rum punch). The driver will search for wildlife and stop when he sees something, and the tour moves at a leisurely pace down the coast before stopping for some snorkeling and swimming off the boat. The boat has a water slide, and you can jump off the roof for a really good time. Last, the lunch we had was cooked fresh right on the boat and was absolutely delicious. Special thanks to Kevin for being so friendly, so engaging, and so much fun.

Do it! 4 hours of fun!

My husband and I really enjoyed our sunset sail with Minor, Kevin, and their crew. It was a great way to get out into the water and learn more about Costa Rica. The drinks and food were tasty (mahi or chicken), the slide was fun, and we loved swimming off the boat (husband snorkeled). We saw a school of beautiful fish and a turtle. This was great value, and we appreciated not having to make arrangements for transportation to and from.

Outstanding afternoon

I couldn’t recommend this tour any more highly. I did the afternoon tour and loved every minute. Cocktails and fruit as soon as we stepped on board, and we were able to request more drinks at any time. The crew were friendly and helpful and the whole experience was very relaxed. The food was outstanding and they catered well for vegans. Sunset was beautiful, and the snorkelling was great; we saw lots of fish. No whales or dolphins sadly, but still a great experience

Very beautify and very fun.

Very fun and very beautiful. The bartenders/hosts were great and very fun. Most gorgeous sunset I've ever seen (but previous couple of nights had been very cloudy). I totally recommend.

Amazing sunset and views

Amazing views on this boat trip! Highly recommend for those looking for an easy boat ride that is scenic along the coast. We did only stay along the coast which surprised me, but still enjoyable.

Fun sunset sail with snorkeling

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed this sunset cruise on a trimaran sailboat at the end of March. There were probably about 25 other people but there were plenty of seats in the shade on the boat facing outwards to see the views so you weren't really looking at the other people on the boat so we didn't feel like we were stuck in a crowd like on some of these types of cruises. The included dinner was tasty and the snorkeling and swimming from the boat did not seem rushed like I have experienced with other similar excursions in the past. There was even a slide off the boat. We were picked up promptly from our hotel at the pre-arranged pick up time. There were a lot of people at the marina all leaving on different boats at the same time but they used a colored wristband system to keep things straight. We enjoyed the excursion and it was a good value for the price.

Incredible sunset tour

This was an incredible experience and the perfect way to end our trip. The sunset was beautiful. The crew was very kind and helpful throughout the trip. The Mahi Mahi dinner was also very good. Highly recommend this experience!

“An unforgettable experience snorkeling and eating on a catamaran “

The experience was exceptional even though we had a rocky start since they tried to pick us up at 8:20 am and claimed that they had emailed me but the WiFi in Costa Rica is bad so I never got any notification. But at the end they paid for the taxi we took to the marina and the experience was awesome so was the food and drinks. “Minor?” was exceptional and so was the rest of the crew. We saw dolphins, lots of fish and we snorkeled. We will definitely recommend this excursion to our friends in the US.

Food and drinks were fantastic! This was awesome because of the so few people on the boat.They were less than 20 of us and we saw some other boats that were absolutely packed.It made our experience very enjoyable. food and drink were fabulous.The snorkeling was fun , but nothing to write home about. The slide off the back of the boat was an added perk. Definitely recommend this tour company.

Spectacular view and fun time!!

Spectacular views, incredible crew and delicious meal! Highly recommend this excursion for a sunset cruise. It's the perfect size and includes fresh fruit, the most delicious Mahi we ever had which was prepared on board and unlimited drinks. Had lots of fun snorkeling and seeing beautiful fish, going down the waterslide and jumping off if the platform.

If you're sitting around waiting for a sign to book this tour... this is it! We did the morning tour to beat the afternoon heat. The crew on this boat was amazing. We had a great time listening to him talk about the area and their family. We have snorkeled in some epic places, so while snorkeling is always fun, this was just middle of the road for me for things we saw. Not sure if it was the time of day or what. We saw lots of different fish and a few starfish but the guide was great diving down and pointing things out so you didn't miss anything. Then you get a chance to do the slide and jump off the platform on the boat. That was fun! One of the best parts of the cruise was the food and drinks. The pina coladas were soooo good. And the meal? Top notch! The fish was perfectly cooked and the sides were super tasty too! We spent 8 days in Quepos and I think the cruise out on the boat was the most relaxing part of our whole trip. Seriously, just book this trip already!
