Manuel Antonio National Park Hiking Guided Tour

Excellent and helpful expereince!

I waited too long to get tickets to Manuel Antonio, so I looked for tours that included tickets. That was the first selling point of Quepos Info Center. There was space in a group tour, but I contacted Dylan to see if there might be a private tour option available. He did not have space, but he was able to arrange a tour for us with a freelance guide who works with him at times, AND get us tickets! We did our tour with Olman Chavez, and he was great! A true nature-lover, self-described "bird nerd" and naturalist who clearly loves the natural world (our kind of person). We saw sloths, two varieties of monkey and many fascinating plants (including some tiny endemic orchids!), lizards, crabs, bats, bugs and even some birds. Without a guide, I truly would have not noticed any of it. Olman took pictures for us through his incredible scope and when the pictures didn't come through on my email from Olman, Dylan made sure to get them to us. The driving/parking situation right outside the park is an absolute zoo, but if you have a guide arranged, they will be on the lookout for you and help you out - Olman helped us get parked in seemingly full lot right outside the main entrance. (There is a small fee for parking -- no place within walking distance is free.) We would not have been able to do any of this, not even gotten into the park, without Dylan arranging everything. He was fantastic at communicating, always timely and responsive to all my questions. If you need anything, don't hesitate to contact Quepos Info Center -- it's really nice to have a local helping you navigate things!

Dylan is amazing!

Dylan is truly a walking encyclopedia. The man is incredible. We had many different guides during our 3 week trip in CR. All were wonderful. Dylan stands out in his absolute immense knowledge of everything flora and fauna, but also history of CR etc. He was such a wealth of knowledge! Highly recommended!!! He’s also a great guy!

Biodiversity Tour!

It was the the Best trip we had in Costa Rica. Dylan is a competent and very experienced guide. He showed us several animals along the way. He explained a lot to us about the history of the park and biodiversity in general. He took photos with his equipment and shared them with us. Highly recommended

Private tour with an amazing guide!

AMAZING TOUR. Despite the rain, Andres took us all around the park and we saw some great wildlife. How he can see things so small and far away is still beyond me. We were also expecting a group tour, but was pleasantly surprised for it to be a private tour with our group. Would highly recommend for those visiting the park who wants to see wildlife!

Great guide to Manuel Antonio

Dylan was such a great guide to introduce us to this beautiful park. We were amazed at his level f knowledge and our wildlife, ecology, and history of the region. Great expensive!

An amazing morning with a great guide!

We had an amazing morning with Dylan! He had so much knowledge and was so generous and enthusiastic about sharing it with us. We saw sloths, birds, iguanas, spiders, a crocodile, and more. His love of nature and wildlife was obvious and it was fun to learn about it from him, although I am not sure I retained all that much, because there was so much! Our group of 8 people had a wonderful time with Dylan, and I would highly recommend him. In fact, some of our group are thinking of booking him to go bird watching on their next trip to Costa Rica.

Enjoyable interesting experience!

Carlos was our guide and was amazing! He spotted so many animals that we most likely wouldn't have spotted had we done this on our own! Carlos was very knowledgeable, therefore gave us lots of information about everything we saw and was very kind. On this tour we saw interesting bugs, beautiful rare to see birds, monkeys, coatis, lizards, crabs, snakes, sloths, a porcupine, and a frog egg sack with tadpoles in it! We ended our tour at the beach where you can relax and take in the beauty! I highly recommend this tour and I thank Dylan and Carlos for working with us when our original plans didn't go as they were supposed to.

Dylan is the perfect tour guide. Brimming with knowledge and experience, he’s also charming and fun to talk to. In his free time he does nature photography, and he’s been all over Costa Rica. He understands what visitors need and takes good care of them. Can’t recommend him highly enough!!!

extraordinary experience

we booked our manuel antonio tour via our concierge at the art villas and we were blessed to be assigned dylan as our own personal bilingual tour guide. not only was he immensely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, but his passion for nature beamed from within. we were able to see some amazing animals; from frogs, hummingbirds and laughing falcons, all the way to monkeys and sloths! we were also able to capture it all via photo/video using his equipment so we could share the memories with our family! after, he even guided us to a less populated beach area and recommended some paths to explore on our own. i have never been more impressed with a tour guide before, i cannot say enough great things and would absolutely book a tour with him again! thank you, dylan!

The best of the best in and around Manuel Antonio :-)

We had a fantastic time at Manuel Antonio National Park with our guide, Dylan! He was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us spot a variety of wildlife, including capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths, lots of birds, insects, iguanas and other reptiles. Dylan also took us away from the crowds, which made our experience much more enjoyable. If you’re visiting, I highly recommend going with Dylan. If we could fit it in our holiday plans, we would’ve done the Corcovado trip with him but unfortunately that’s for a next visit to CR. Dylan even managed to arrange a whale watching tour for us in Uvita. It’s extremely convenient to have such a goor tour guide. Thank you, Dylan!

See lots of creatures with Dylan

My husband and I toured Manuel Antonio National Park with Dylan Monge from Quepos Information center as our guide. Dylan started spotting birds for us to see right from the parking lot. We saw so many birds that we had never seen, and that we would not have seen without an expert guide. Time was allowed for me to take pictures of pottos and pauraques, monkeys and snakes, a blue wasp and other fascinating creatures. Dylan provided all kinds of interesting information on the flora and fauna and history of the area. We briefly visited the beautiful beach, and my only regret is that we did not stay on to relax and enjoy the water. We were picked up and returned to our hotel, which was a great option for an older couple who did not want to drive.

Fantastic tour guide

Dylan was a fantastic tour guide. He was knowledgeable and personable, and made the tour very interesting for my family which included a 9year old and 11 year old. He gave it a relaxed pace, even though there was a lot to see and cover. He gave us a great tip to start the tour later in the day to avoid the crowds. We highly recommend hiring him!

Dylan Monge Is The Best Guide

We took my wife’s niece and her husband, and luckily found Dylan as our guide. He was the best. Not only did we see sloths, but also monkeys, deer, birds, a boa, and even blue/red crabs, finishing at the MA beach where we swam awhile. Dylan is fluent in English, very knowledgeable about the many kinds of animals in the park, and uses a very good scope to find them. He even took photos of them through his scope with our cell phones. The two pics I posted Dylan took for us, of the Common Potoo which I’ve wanted to see for years. A wonderful day with a superb guide, and an incredibly nice guy. We highly recommend Dylan Monge of the Quepos Info Center as your guide.

Wonderful Park With an Exceptional Guide

Dylan is an absolutely fantastic guide. His ability to hear and find the various creatures hidden in the trees of the national park and then quickly set up his spotter scope so we could see and take incredible pictures and videos via his scope was truly amazing. He is punctual, attentive, knowledgable, engaging and very funny. The tour is arranged with a much needed rest stop (due to the heat) after two hours followed by an ocean dip. But the 3 hours or so you are walking with Dylan are unforgettable. My wife, daughter and I have had many wonderful tours around the world, but Dylan made Manuel Antoinio Park one of the most memorable. Highly recommended!

Great way to see the park

This is a great way to see the park. You definitely need a guide to spot a lot of the animals and I really like this one. It's a private tour so no large groups. Dylan, the name you mostly see in reviews, owns the company. When he has more than one booking, he has friends who freelance. We had Andres and he was great. The guides talk to each other to make sure everyone is finding what's around. We saw birds, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys (and he was happy to let us watch them for a long time), a sloth, and more,. He'll show you things with and without a scope and let you take pictures with the scope as well as on your own. He got us a fruit snack midway through and sat with our stuff to give us 15-20 minutes at the beach. Afterwords, he gave us time to get a snack before handling our taxi transport back to our hotel.

Dylan was an incredible tour guide throughout Manuel Antonio National Park! He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the animal and plant species and we left seeing tons of different animals. Would HIGHLY recommend!!

A sweaty, unique and wonderful day.

1. We had trouble meeting our guide. We didn’t know his name and he wasn’t looking for us. We had to call Delan who called our guide. 2 We paid for 5 adults and one child. When we got to the park, there was no ticket for the child. 3 Once we started the tour, everything was excellent. Johann was knowledgeable and fun.

This was such an amazing tour through several beautiful ecosystems. Dylan is the perfect tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable, so enthusiastic and great observations. We would have seen about 10% of what we saw without him pointing out things throughout our 3+ hour tour. Highly recommended for anyone. Thanks Dylan best of luck for continued adventures!!!

Best guide ever

Felix was amazing. He showed us so many different kinds of animals and knew a lot about each of them. He helped us get amazing photos to take home too. He had a wealth of information about the area, and gave us good advice for exploring further on our own. The private tour was all we could ask for. We definitely recommend Felix.

Amazing guided tour in Manuel Antonio park! Dylan is the best!

My husband and I did a private tour with Dylan in Manuel Antonio National Park and this was clearly one of the highlights during our honeymoon! 🤩 It is totally worth it the early wake-up. Dylan is so nice, knowledgeable and passionate about nature and can spot so many different animals and recognizes noices - we would not have seen none of them without him! Please visit Manuel Antonio Park if you are a nature-lover, preferably in the early morning, and deffinitely hire Dylan for your tour - you will not regret it! Sloths, iguanas, lizzards, 3 types of monkeys, different birds - you all have them there but often hidden high in the trees, so you definitely need a telescope or binoculars for them, and Dylan has a great one! All pics attached are made with his help. Enjoy the park and bring some great memories back home!

Manual Antonio Tour with Dylan

I could not have asked for a better experience of Manual Antonio. From early conversation with Dylan he understood my desires for the day and picked a time and tour route that would suit my wishes to see as many animals as possible at a quieter time in the park. Dylan was so passionate and knowledgeable of wildlife and nature not only in the park and other parts of Costa Rica, but also marine life and regions further afield. I was amazed at his ability to spot animals almost invisible to the naked eye and also to get the best angles for us with his telescope and cameras. I really appreciate his time and energy and would highly recommend touring with Dylan. I hope to meet him again perhaps for Corcovado and also to find some snakes, our shared interest!

The perfect morning in the park!

I was hesitant to pay the extra for a private tour. I am so glad we did! It was the perfect morning. Lourdes was our guide and she was amazing. We learned so much about not only the ecosystem but also about Costa Rica in general and its history. I was very impressed with her knowledge. If you're looking for a more personal experience in the park and are on the fence about a private tour, this is your sign to book it now!

Fantastic place to visit and excellent guided tour

We went on a Manuel Antonio National Park private tour with Dylan. He was a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable about all the plants and wildlife, it was fascinating to see and learn about everything. It was well worth going on a smaller private tour as we really got to see a lot of animals we would never have spotted otherwise, and got some lovely pictures down his telescope. He was also very funny and friendly, we just had such an enjoyable morning, thank you again.

Great guide makes for a great tour

Our guide, Michelle Salazar, was arranged at the last hour when an error in the reservation happened. She was the best guide who freelances for the operator Quepos Info Center through Viator. Because of the error, we were her only clients. That is the best way to do a park with a guide. She and her husband, Berny, also a guide met us at our hotel right in time. She has 6 years experience in Manuel Antonio Park. She is a certified guide and her ability to spot animals was remarkable, such as, a full view of a 3 toed sloth that was my best photo. In addition, she spoke very clear English while facing us. As we got to know each other a little bit more over the near 3 hour tour, her warmth and love of her work became more evident. She like many guides collaborate with each other in recently spotted animals. In my observation, she seemed to be one of the few women guides. She shared her knowledge but did not talk all the time for which we were grateful so we could observe the park for ourselves. She was always looking to spot what was not obvious to us at all -- it was all green to us. She is a very good professional and made us feel personally comfortable. It was a great experience for our last day in Costa Rica!

Great day in the park

We booked the private tour, which I would highly recommend. Our guide, Berny, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He went out of his way to show us the park and explain the history. Great biodiversity in the park; it's not all about the sloths. We had a wonderful day. Would definitely recommend a tour of some type for this park. It would be very difficult to see what we saw our your own.

Highlight of our trip to Costa Rica

The Manuel Antonio National Park guided tour with Michelle was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Thanks to her keen eye and telescope, we saw many animals we would have missed on our own. We saw three kinds of monkeys, two and three toed sloths, iguanas, birds, butterflies, and even tiny bats. Michelle took us along the main trail first, then a quieter side trail to avoid the crowds. We enjoyed gorgeous views of Playa Manuel Antonio and Playa Espadilla Sur on the tour, but later walked to Playa Gemelas on our own, per her recommendation. Michelle was very knowledgeable and professional, but also quite personable with a good sense of humor! We definitely recommend Michelle for this guided tour, preferably early in the morning to beat the heat.

Great morning in the Park

We had a very memorable experience in Manuel Antonio Park. Our guide, Lourdes, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and keen eye for sighting wildlife. We saw an ant eater, butterflies, many birds, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, and howler monkeys, plus much more! Great way to start your day.

Great Guide, Great Hike and Experience

Our guide, Lou, was great! She was very well informed, and on a number of occasions helped us to see animals we would have otherwise missed. Three species of monkeys, two species of sloth, agouti (large rodent). We also saw a number of birds, iguanas, and deer. Lou also knew a lot of details about the flora and fauna--the entire environment, which she described and explained in a detailed way. She was pleasant and personable, and my wife and I (both over 65) and our 25 year old son, all enjoyed the experience very much.

Fantastic Tours with Dylan

My family and I had the pleasure of having Dylan guide us through Manuel Antonio National Park and a mangrove boat ride. He was a fantastic guide with so much knowledge to share on both tours. We enjoyed hearing interesting facts about wildlife within the NP and the mangrove riverside, learning about conservation projects he was involved with, and seeing wildlife that was sometimes so small, you'd never know it was there without a trained eye. In the Park, Dylan used a strong monocular on a tripod that allowed all of us to take turns seeing wildlife like sloths and birds high up in the trees which was really helpful because even though we had binoculars, some things were difficult to find. He also took great pictures for us through the monocular lens. We loved the tours and highly recommend Dylan!

What an amazing day in the park! Dylan had an awesome telescope and knew where to find and show us so many great animals, plants and birds. He was very knowledgeable about the natural habitat and his English was excellent. We can’t say enough good things about Dylan and our experience with him in Manuel Antonio.

Best experience

Our guide Dayana was full of knowledge about both plants and animals. She was a delight to spend four hours with. We spent the entire time in the park and went back for the beach the next day. (Remember to buy tickets ahead if you go by yourself) You will not see many animals on your own without a guide and their telescope. This tour is excellent!!!

Wonderful day in the rain forest!

Wonderful day in the rainforest. Our guide (Danya?) was very energetic; she definitely went the extra mile to help us see as much as possible. Some of the animals we saw were an anteater, and little snake eat a frog, bats and a howler monkey, but there were lots more. All in all a great day - highly recommend!
