Amazing Tour of Manuel Antonio with Rafael!

Excellent tour in Manuel Antonio. Our guide, Rafael brought humor, enthusiasm, and was very knowledgeable with plants and animals. He was really good at spotting animals from so far away. Genuinely made our tour feel special and intimate, would highly recommend booking with Rafael as your guide!

Amazing experience!

Robert was an excellent communicator about where to meet, park, and other details about the tour. We met Juan right outside of the park and began this amazing tour. Juan was SO knowledgeable about all of the animals, plants, insects, birds, etc, and he was so good at sharing really interesting facts in a fun way. He taught us so much in a short time- his explanations were really thorough and even though we’ve done several other tours on this trip, we learned so much from him! Juan also was able to find so many animals- we saw sloths (several!), howler and capuchin monkeys, many birds, lizards of all kinds, colorful crabs, birds that were so camouflaged we never would’ve seen them, spiders, bats…etc etc. He also made sure that we knew all about the park and some Costa Rican history that was definitely above and beyond the regular park tour. I highly recommend this tour- totally worth it!!

A "must do" in Manuel Antonio

First, Robert, was very communicative prior to the tour with detailed information on tour expectations, requirements, obtaining our tickets and traversing the many distracting "hawkers" to arrive at their office which included free parking. The office is about 100 meters from the park gate. Secondly, Wilbur, our guide, was awesome. He whisked us right through the gate with ease. He was able to spot the wildlife that we would have never seen. He was very knowledgeable of the flora and fauna. He was able tell us about each animal we saw, their habits and diets. He is a trained botanist and knew everything about the plants. He was a able to take pics and videos through the spotting scope with our cameras which was a great addition to all the pics we took ourselves. At the end of the tour, he dropped us at one of beautiful beaches in the park to enjoy time on our on. We relaxed and swam at the beach and then my wife and I hiked the trail around punta catedral where we saw beautiful vistas and were able to get extremely close the a troop of capuchin monkeys. After we exited the park, we stopped at Buru Garden Restaurant which Wilbur recommended. We at first suspected that he recommended it because they share a parking lot but we decided to give it try and it was terrific. Great seafood and two for one drinks were just what we needed after a warm day in the park. I would highly recommend this tour company for your visit to Manuel Antonio national park.

Awesome experience.

I just completed this tour today and it was really great. Bernie was our guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many great insights and perspectives. And he clearly has super powers because he spotted creatures that were seemingly invisible to the human eye. Amazing! He was so in-tune with his surroundings and he clearly has a big heart for Nature and all of our animal friends. I initially spoke with Robert who was very helpful in coordinating parking, meeting location, etc. I can’t imagine a better time to do this tour than early in the morning. At 8:30 there was already quite a lot of people. But our group was small, just Bernie, myself, and another traveler. We saw bats, iguanas, frogs, beautiful birds, butterflies, spiders, and I saw my first sloth! Our guide took some amazing photos which he sent us via phone when the tour completed - I will post a few. The tour ended at an epic and quiet beach where I spent several hours swimming in the ocean. For someone who is not really into tours, I must say that I really loved this experience. I can recommend Travel & Birding with total confidence. Five stars.

Great Experience

Wilbur was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and spent the time to take pictures for us. We got to see a couple sloths. We had a great time!

Private tour

Felix was a delight to tour the park with. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour. The trails are very walkable and marked well. The stunning beaches are worth it all.

Excellent tour!

Great tour. Saw lots of wildlife. Friendly guide. One of the big advantages of having a tour is that all the guides work together and they all know the spots where animals have been seen recently.

Wonderful wildlife walk with beach!

Everything about this tour was perfectly communicated and very prompt! Which is important to me! Our guide was courteous, knowledgeable and experienced. We saw beautiful birds, insects, a crab, sloths and many monkeys. The park was wonderful and the beach was beautiful. I highly recommend! Tips would be bring a refillable water bottle and towels if you plan to enjoy the beach.

Lovely area

Lovely area. Very hot and humid. Really lovely park, didn’t see any sloths tho. Well worth going. Nice beaches, especially Hidden Beach, lots of space, not too crowded, bonus to see toucans, monkeys playing, lots of iguanas. Easy to find shade under trees.

Great time at Manuel Antônio

We had a great time with the guide Yamal. He's a historician and give us a lot of information about the animais we saw and some curiosities about the park.

Wonderful professional nature guide experience

If you are going to Manuel Antonio- book a guide!! If you want to spot wildlife and get more out of the visit, do it. Our guide spotted so many things we would have missed. They also help you take better pictures and speak to other guides so they know where the animals are during your visit. Our guide had something come up and was unable to meet for our scheduled tour. He found a replacement guide. We were so grateful that he honored our booking and saved our visit. (Eiderson was wonderful!) we were a little under the weather at the time and moving slower than usual, but the guide was very patient and understanding. We had a wonderful experience with this company and highly recommend! Very professional. They also offer free parking near the entrance which is a bonus.

Great to see animals, spontaneous change of language was disappointing

Very nice tour, Eiderson was perfectly friendly and showed us many amazing animals! You walk on a very busy path with lots of other groups, so sometimes it was hard to keep together and not stand in front of one of the telescopes. It also wasn’t the quiet jungle tour we expected. The main disappointment though was that even though we booked this tour in German (not all of us are fluent in English), the guide informed me the day before the tour that there was only an English tour and we could either take that or cancel. Since the tour was already paid for and it was not easy to find another German tour so spontaneously, we went along with the English one. Still, this is a testimony of bad planning and selling things you don’t offer doesn’t get you happy customers.

Many animals!

Guide was great!! We saw so many different animals that we never would have seen without him! Only down fall was there were soooo many people on the trail trying to see the same things.

We had a wonderful trip with Wilbert, he spotted things we would have never seen on our own, helped us take so many pictures, and was very knowledgeable about the animals, as well as plant life!

Amazing wildlife tour

Robert was a very friendly and fun tour guide. He helped us find and take pictures of a baby sloth, all three kinds of monkeys, hummingbirds, bats, frogs, and more! I highly recommend booking a tour with him because you'll be with a much smaller group than the other tours through the park (we passed by tour groups of like 30+ people, when we were just 6) and he personalizes it to what you want to see. Very reasonable price and he can offer great deals on other activities as well. Muchas gracias Robert!

Robert is the best tour guide!!!

Robert was amazing! He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. He is by far the best guide in the park. He is so well spoken & has in depth knowledge on all of the wildlife & ecosystem. We saw tons of animals. Highly recommend!!!

A Guided walk in the Forest!!

Manuel Antonio National Park is a must see for anyone visiting this area of Costa Rica. Our guide Robert was very good and we were grateful that we took a guided tour of the park as he seemed to know where all the animals etc would be !! The use of his " scope" made our photos look professional !!

Well worth the money

Dylan Serrano, was exceptional. He showed us many species of birds, trees, monkeys, rodents, crustaceans and a sloth. He was very knowledgeable, explaining the ecosystem and he made sure that we had a great experience in Parc Manuel Antonio. He is highly recommended!

Excellent tour

Took the tour this morning with Robert and it went very well and had a great experience. Saw lots of wildlife (both 2 toed and 3 toed, sloth species, Howler & capuchin monkeys, deer, lots of birds, lizards and insects.) Also enjoyed the gorgeous beaches. Robert is extremely friendly, informative and accommodating. I'd recommend you use him.

Tour with Robert from Travel and Birding - Manual Antonio

Booked a tour of Manual Antonio with Robert from Travel and Birding. Robert guided us on an extensive walk through the park and had a remarkably keen eye for spotting all kinds of life from monkeys to sloths to birds to fascinating insects. I can't remember the name but a highlight was a very small bird on the ground that is so well camouflaged it is almost impossible to see. Robert was incredibly patient in ensuring we saw it and grabbed a great photo. Also, first time we've seen a very active, I think young sloth, very close to the ground. Robert was attentive to our needs given the heat and humidity and a great communicator. He also was kind enough to arrange for us to take a whale watching tour at Ballena Marine National Park.

Great day with Robert

For Robert this isnt a job it's a passion. His enthusiasm about the local nature is contagious. I would highly recommend a day with him. During our tour of Manuel Antonio we saw many sloths, (which I would never have found by myself) 3 species of monkeys, crocodiles and many species of birds including 4 species of hummingbird.

It was a great tour on which we have seen many wildlife animals. We were also able to take some beautiful pictures of the animals through the telescope. After we went to the amazing beach. We had much fun at this tour!

Go Local, highly recommend!

This tour was amazing! So much wildlife of different variations and because they are small groups everyone gets to spend time looking at it properly through the scope (very nice scope) and getting photos too. So kind and friendly and you can tell Robert really loves giving tours and knows so much! Highly recommend!!!

Would do again

Gerardo was very knowledgeable and worked with the other guides to locate the animals and birds. No need for walking sticks or hiking boots. Gym shoes or sturdy sandals are sufficient. Do not recommend for kids that don't enjoy nature. Since this hike is a nature lover's dream.

Amazing wildlife guide!

Robert is a fantastic guide! The private tour was well worth it as he was able to take us to the best areas to see wildlife, many of which are off the main path. His knowledge of the wildlife and park helped us to see so much more that we would've just walked past on our own. Plus we were able to get amazing photos with his scope. The tour listing said 2.5-3 hours but Robert spent over 4 hours with us making sure we saw as much wildlife as possible. He gave very clear instructions on where to meet him and gave us other recommendations for our trip. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience for nature lovers

Manuel Antonio National Park is definitely one of the most beautiful national parks that I’ve been to when in Costa Rica and is rich with diverse flora and fauna but to make the most of it, it’s better to have someone to guide you and we couldn’t be happier to have had Robert as our guide. It was clear from the beginning that this is not only his job but his true passion and that he knows this park inside and out. Robert had a knack for spotting the park’s hidden treasures, from colorful birds to elusive wildlife. We saw a couple of sloths, monkeys (not only those hanging around in the cafeteria area but also some with babies in the treetops), toucans, iguanas, and even a python. Robert would stop and point to some animals or plants sharing tons of interesting facts when other groups were passing us by unaware that there are missing on the hidden gems. Operator forgot our tour

The tour operator forgot about us. We had to call them, and only after I got mad at the alternatives to reschedule the tour, he finally agreed to book the tour later on the same day. I believe the guide was not a certified guide. He showed us some animals, could spot animals we could ever see, which was great. They didn’t pick us at the hotel and took us back. We had to meet them at the entrance of the park, and at the end left us in the middle of the park, and gave us direction on how to leave!

Outstanding Family Experience!

Robert was recommended by another family who we met on our way to Manuel Antonio. I sent Robert a text via WhatsApp asking about last-minute availability, and he got back to me within seconds, patiently answering my questions, giving me all the details, and confirming our tour. Robert was SO patient and caring with our two tired, hungry teenage boys, and his eye for every little detail of the forest was astounding. I'd give more stars if I could.

First class professionalism and expertise!

We felt extremely lucky to have found Robert to take us on a private tour of MA National Park. His extensive knowledge of the animals, reptiles, insects and birds as well as the flora of the rainforest made it a very special time. Robert is also very personable and speaks German in addition to English. Highly recommended! Tip: try to get to the park right at 7 a.m. because it gets quite crowded.

We went on a private tour with Robert of Manuel Antonio. He was great and very knowledgeable about the animals and plants taking time to explain each plant and animal we encountered. Highly recommended

We were not planning to take a guided tour in Manuel Antonio but decided before entering the park to book a guide. And afterwards we didn't regret it at all! Best decission we made because we wouldn't have seen that much wildlife on our own. With or without the telescope, Robert was even spotting the smallest insects and wonderfull creatures. Very friendly, informative and passionate guy and guide. Highly recommended if you are visiting Manuel Antonio!

We wish we had time for another tour with Robert!

Robert gave my kids and I had an amazing guided tour through Manuel Antonio! It was unbelievable to see how he could find the tiniest animals in the trees and leaves and show them to us through his scope. He was very knowledgeable of the animals, flora and fauna, and also seemed to know all the guides too. He’s very friendly with all, and also recommended other great tours for the rest of our stay.

Must Try Experience

Manuel Antonio is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to do in the area of the park afterwards. Your guide picks you up and takes you to the park and you are likely to see monkeys before even officially start the tour. The guides all have great eyes and catch all of the animals and plants from really far away. Their binoculars are spectacular at catching the sights at a national geographic level of beauty. You end the tour at the private beach which has white sand and blue water My tour guide was Robert. He speaks 4 languages and makes sure everyone understands the fun facts and that everyone gets a fair chance to use the binoculars. All around amazing time. Thank you to the whole team!

Amazing Park Experience

We met Robert inside the park. He toured my family around and showed us so many amazing things. He is very knowledgeable and made sure everyone had a great experience. We would not have seen everything we did without his help. Seeing a sloth was my daughters dream. I would highly recommend him for a tour of the National Park!!

Robert symbolizes Pura Vida

Our family visited Manuel Antonio National Park December 2022 with Robert as our guide. The first thing to keep in mind about these kind of tours is that it's really up to mother nature and randomness of circumstances. Pura Vida, Robert! You made the guided tour for our family a memorable one even though we had a rainy day. I’m still stunned by how fast and accurate Robert was able to set up his binos.The only thing about the whole tour was that it was cheesey was seeing the monkeys in the “wild” where the cafeteria was mid trail. Robert provided us with an abundance of information on plants, animals, and Costa Rican biology. As far as tips… bring: binoculars, a rain jacket or poncho, your bathing suit and a change of clothes because they take you to a beach at the end of the trail :).

Robert was so kind and accommodating during our tour! He was very informative and went above and beyond to make our experience well worth it. He was very personable as well. Even when it was time for us to leave the park, he stayed with us the entire time until we had to walk back to get our taxi. It was nice to have a guide that cared about us.
