Magnificent

This is a wonderful tour. The boat ride was beautiful and enjoyable. The buffet lunch was magnificent. It’s very well organized. Each guest could find his/her table with their name tag. The wool shaving show was interesting. The whole experience was great. Feel like you’re getting more than you paid for. Highly recommend.

A Must Do!

Impressed by our well organised this experience was..from the minute we boarded the Earnslaw..the amazing buffet lunch then followed by the farm show. Definitely recommend if you are in Queenstown!

Thought I wouldn’t like it

Beautiful old steamship well maintained and fun to cruise on even in winter. We went for the dinner cruise and I was skeptical about what kind of food would be served in a buffet line. When we arrived we were seated at our own table and had a waiter looking after us. Meats were hot off of a wood fired grill control chicken, pork, lamb, beef and fish. All were perfectly cooked with flavorful seasonings. Sides were made with care and deserts excellent. The herding and shearing demonstration was fun with a heated arena.

Nice view across the lake

The cruise was a nice experience across a beautiful lake. Once we reached the other side to enjoy the BBQ lunch, the farm show was a nice touch. The only issue we had was that our seats were taken by overseas people, with no courtesy.

It is a wonderful experience one that you should include on your to do list in Queenstown. The views of the Remarkables from the lake are amazing, the feel and history of the ship is great by itself (if you want to sit outside but the bow is too cold and breezy still outside the engine room on the lower deck and experience the worlds first heated seats. The homestead, lunch farm show, animals and staff put the cherry on top.

An absolutely outstanding afternoon, with not only a stunning scenery and great hospitality all along but also the Earnslaw being such a technical marvel rarely seen in these days. The passion of the crew for her is most obvious. Great BBQ lunch at the farm, too, superb food and impeccable service. Highly to recommend and thoroughly enjoyed.

The whole trip was amazing! The food at the buffet was sooo good and filling. The farm show was very cute and informative. We will definitely be doing this again when we come back to Queenstown and recommend it to everyone!!

Great experience. We did...

Great experience. We did feel that the dining was rushed. We sat around for too long before being able to go eat which then lead to everyone at once. Once the food emptied we noticed it was slow to refill.

Always Enjoyable

I have been on this trip a number of times but have never done the BBQ lunch before . The fact I’ve done this a number of times shows how much I enjoy it . I love watching the dog round the sheep up . I love the view . And the farm animals.

Travel by Steam Ship in a beautiful environment

The TSS Earnslaw and Walter Peak Farm experience was fantastic end to end. Space is limited, and it is a popular experience, so get your tickets early. They managed to find space for us, thank you PureNZ. Getting aboard was easy, moving about the ship was straightforward, the farm was well appointed and maintained, staff were helpful and friendly, the animals great, the afternoon tea delicious and plentiful. Oh and the views were picture postcard perfect.

Amazing family experience

Amazing family experience! Authentic Earnslaw cruise to stunning Walter Peak. The food was to die for and farm show was entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend for all to enjoy.

10/10 amazing!

Cannot recommend this experience enough. I heard about this from a colleague and so glad we did it. The steamship is comfortable and has a lovely coffee shop onboard. The views are unmatched and we even got super interesting facts about the area from the tour guide. The lunch at the farm exceeded all expectations from the variety of food options, to the quality of food and service. We loved the farm demonstration and the whole excursion was planned meticulously.

Price is worth it

Loved the buffet!!! All the meat was cooked to perfection. Amazing showcase to NZ meats. Steam boat was clean and had all the amenities you need (coffee and beer)

Star light on Walter Peak

Great 5pm sailing. This is our third time on the earnslaw. Lovely warm trip over sitting by the boiler pipe. Arrived and we were greeted and seated. Our time was called to sample the BBQ dinner. Lots of variety . The desert was beautiful with a stunning cream burleigh. We went over to the farm show. Watched a sheep be crutched and Jen round up 3 sheep with the night lights on and a lit up dog collar. Very clever. Then back on the ship and went back with a lovely star light journey.

Just perfect afternoon

It was raining and snowing but the views were beautiful. Perfect way to spend an afternoon. BBQ lunch was amazing and great service. Enjoyed watching the working dogs do their thing.

Smooth sail. Picturesque views. Delicious lunch (especially the desserts). Well organized. Sheep show was entertaining. Just the right amount of time to be able to come back to Queenstown and explore the rest of the day. Highly recommended!

Amazing service adapting to dietary requirement.

Amazing service from Ellie, Laurent and the chefs. The team went above and beyond to cater for our 2 yr old who is highly allergic to dairy. Thank you for making him feel so special especially the dairy free choc cake! He is still talking about it as the best part of his day!

Definitely recommend

Definitely recommend this trip. A lovely cruise on the Earnslaw with interesting commentary and scenery. The BBQ lunch was amazing, well worth it and plenty of it. The Sheep Show was ok and probably more for the Tourists who’ve not seen this before.

Was a fantastic day with an unbelievable food. The farm was amazing and we learnt a lot. Will be back

Poor service

The waiter was hard to understand and communicate with- I had to point out the item or repeat the request serval times, maybe needed training. We felt rushed to eat our meals. We had a group booking - for a birthday. I found this disappointing considering it had great review's.

Loved our trip on the Earnslaw it was amazing and the lunch is the best buffet I have experienced in NZ the kids really enjoyed it too. This trip was the highlight of my trip to Queenstown, I highly recommend.

Family day out at Walter Peak

Awesome boat ride, buffet BBQ lunch and farmshow. Kim the border collie stole the show. Always a fun trip out in the Earnslaw. The selection of food was amazing. Very well organised. The desserts were the highlight. Yummy !!!

Comfortable and nice trip. Nice view on the boat. Great meal in the farm. A peaceful and relaxing journey.

Memorable trip

The sightseeing at the farm was really amazing with sunny blue sky. We enjoyed farm show. I did not know the hourse treck should be booked in advance, that's the only thing I regreted. Image riding horse in such beautiful landscape would be perfect.

Must do when in Queenstown!

We had the most amazing experience on this trip. The Earnslaw trip to Walter Peak farm was just beautiful (we were so lucky to have lovely weather too). Lots of coffee, tea and snacks to chose from to purchase on the boat itself, and then THE MOST AMAZING buffet lunch that exceeded all our expectations. Had a great time listening to and watching the sheep shearing talk & demo and watching the sheepdog do her magic as well. Would 110% recommend this trip as a MUST do for any visitor to Queenstown - really worth it to include the buffet lunch. It was a big highlight during out trip :)

Tech and nature sublime

The boat is amazing and you have great access. The views are sublime and even with a crowded boat you get good viewpoints.

The buffet was excellent. We liked how they had individual tables for each party and we loved the dogs.

Great Family Day

This was a great day out from the steam boat ride to the farm itself our kids loved it! The food was 9/10 only thing that didn’t make it a 10/10 was the fact it was so busy and a lot of the food was gone or not topped up yet when it was our turn to come around. 4/5 stars for a great day out!

Great experience, fantastic food.

The BbQ meal was great. Wonderful views. Suggestion: when they share the sheep it would be very easy to take the cleanest part of the belly wool and auction it off. You have a live audience of mostly Asian wool lovers who would love to take home a unique souvenair. I wished i had offered to do it. Would be added experience. Imagine the storyline: here we go ladies and gentleman, top grade Walterpeak Marino wool straight of this magnificant sheep thats plied the mountains..... one off opportunity, 100 i bid and taking 50s on.

Misty the border collie is the star of the show

Fantastic ride on 1911 steam boat. Very elaborate and delicious BBQ buffet lunch. Very organized and warm, welcoming staff during lunch service. The highlight of the trip was the farm show watching Misty the short-haired border collie wrangle the sheep. Really impressive and such a fun afternoon.

Wonderful view on the way...

Wonderful view on the way to Walter peak high country farm and lunch buffet was amazing. TSS Earlslaw is under repair and not available but the alternate boat was not bad at all.

MUST TRY BUFFET

The farm as expected is beautiful, but the food went over my expectations. For a buffet, the food was very high quality and very delicious.

A+++ tour with great scenery and food!

Such an awesome tour (especially to do with children). Amazing scenery and farm show was a treat. The BBQ lunch was also fantastic. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking for a unique experience while in Queenstown.

Best tour in Queenstown

Absolutely revommended. Despite the fact that the Earnslaw was unavailable, alternate transport was fine. The lunch buffet was just outstanding with such a selection of food. Snappy and helpful staff. Likewise the sheep demonstration was really interesting. This has to be the best value tour in Queenstown!

We didn’t get to ride the tss boat as it was under maintenance however substitue vessel was nic. Barbeque buffet was also nice

Cruise and lunch. Worth the tariff

Sadly the Earnslaw was undergoing refurbishment at the time of our trip. However the replacement catamaran was comfortable enough. The lunch and shearing demonstration were excellent. A beautiful scenic trip.

Lovely experience

It was really really lovely!!! The food was exquisitely good! But apparently, the actual TSS ship was not available for this month. Also, I made a friend during the trip which made the experience unforgettable too!

Great day out to lunch NZ Southern style.

BQQ lunch was excellent as was the farm show. Operaters and staff were so good with their presentation. Unfortunate for our tour the TSS Earnslaw was out for maintenance.

Fantastic morning out on the lake, the views are beautiful and the steam ship is a comfortable ride. Recommend sitting on the seats opposite the saloon..the seats are naturally heated by the coal room! Walter peak is a beautiful place and we absolutely loved the BBQ buffet lunch.

Great value tour. Beautiful scenery and surroundings. The bbq buffet was top class. Wide range and very tasty.

A great family outing

This was an awesome experience. Super great with our two little kids. The cruise was enjoyable, and being able to see the coal room was amazing. The lunch and farm were also so special. Loved it!

Beautiful scenery

Spectacular scenery. We loved listening to the pianist on the Ernslaw. The weather was great and the buffet was well cooked with a good selection of salads and BBQ meat.

The trip down the lake onto Walter Perk was a wonderful look and spending time with my beautiful wide , we took lots of photo's , we really enjoyed the BBQ lunch , saw a sheep being shared and watched the dog ( girl ) do her work with bring the sheep down or back up onto the hill .
