Fantastic Day Tour from Cairns

We booked this tour directly via Michael's website Cairns Custom Tours and were continuously kept up to date with booking information and times as well as his direct contact details if we had any issues or queries. Michael was always on time and very informative about the Cairns region providing a lovely relaxed bus trip. The views from the Skyrail and Kuranda train were spectacular. We had a wonderful day and would highly recommend Michael's tour to anyone visiting the Region.

Fun sky rail views!!

Michael was kind, punctual, funny, and informative. We would highly recommend the sky rail! We chose to do the sky rail up and the railway back. The railway back took about two hours and after a long day out, we thought maybe we would have been better off, taking the sky rail up and down. All in all, kuranda was a cute village With a butterfly sanctuary and we also had a chance to buy some local honey. You really don’t need more than one to two hours to explore the village, and so much of this tour is independent, so it satisfied our curiosities and we had a great time. If you’re looking for something more guided, this isn’t particularly it but for us we were happy with the day!

Grea introduction to the rainforest

Skyrail great esp Barren falls. Enjoyed the rainforest and river walks while in Kuranda that also left time for the markets there. Michael very helpful

The sky rail and scenic rail both provided wonderful but different views! A very cool way to travel to Kuranda and back! Our tour guide Michael was fantastic also

Great Host - Super Friendly and Informative

From the first moment I booked this Tour with Michael the owner/host, until we completed our day trip, we were kept informed all the time of where we would be picked up from, we were sent emails and text's a few days before to check that everything was still on track for us. Michael was very informative, funny and went out of his way to assist my elderly mother. He is very knowledgeable about all things relating to this Region and we couldn't have picked a better tour to visit the Kuranda Scenic Rail and the Skyrail. We would certainly contact Michael again when we are next in the area on holiday!

everything! even though it was raining most of the time it didn't detract from having a great day. we would go again if we are back in Cairns and do it in the reverse way.

Beautiful and lovely

"While in Australia, visiting this place was a must, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We took the Skyrail and had a lovely day feeding kangaroos, holding a koala, exploring the butterfly atrium and bird aviary. Spending the day shopping and eating made it even more delightful." on the way down stopped to see the amazing waterfall.

You MUST do this trip!

Everything was great! Michael was attentive, informative. He picked me up at my hotel and dropped me off. No worry about where to meet! The Skyrail and train are a must for a great view and scenery of Australia .

Because of flooding we could not take the railroad up to KURANDA so Michael drove us up. It was awesome!

Amazing tour. Incredible value. A must-do!

This tour was one of the highlights of my Australia trip. Michael was an excellent host, organized, punctual, knowledgeable and efficient. I hadn't originally signed up for the Skyrail portion but Michael suggested I add it in and I'm so glad I did, it was amazing. I've been traveling in Australia for 6 weeks and taken a number of tours. This was the absolute best for value and well worth it. I highly recommend it and Michael is who you want as your guide.

Family visit to Karanda

Train delay provided us additional shopping and eating time, which was welcomed. Preferred the Skyrail going up over the train coming down because it had better views.

Great day out at the rainforest

This is a fabulous way to spend your day when visiting Cairns. We enjoyed Michael's friendly and informative commentary from the bus, the amazing views from the Skyrail and informative ranger talk at the stop along the way. With many attractions in Kuranda the time zooms past - we went to the Butterfly, Koala and Bird enclosures, plus squeezed in a short look around the shops and lunch before heading back down on the scenic railway. Michael met us to take us back afterwards - a great day out.

A must do tour

Drive yourself

All he did was pick us up, drop us at the skyrail, then returned at the end to take us back to the hotel. If you've got your own transportation, you'll come out cheaper driving yourself to the skyrail station. That being said, the Skyrail experience, town of Kuranda, and the railway ride are not to be missed.

Lovely day out

Lovely day out. Michael is a great tour guide. Very friendly. Skyrail was amazing with wonderful views. For someone scared of heights I had no trouble. Kuranda is a lovely little town and the train ride back had lovely views. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Worth doing just to see the rain forest from above

Some fantastic views. It is certainly worth every cent to see the rainforest from this angle. It was so beautiful. And the ride was so smooth. I really recommend it.

Kuranda visit

Amazing views of the rain forest and Barron falls, then back on the train which was also very good stopping for viewing at the falls.

Money very well spent

This is a fabulous trip to do while in Cairns. Views are amazing. Plenty of time to visit shops and markets in Kuranda. Tour guide Michael was great. Informative and has excellent communication up to and during the tour.

The jungle is amazing to see! Our driver was there on time for the transfers and had great knowledge of the area.

This trip was amazing so glad we booked it.Beautiful scenery to take in all along the way. Free time also when you got to Kuranda to do whatever you wanted grab food/drink. Great day tour

Very well organised and informative small group tour which allowed us all to interact. Eleven travelers from Australia, Peru, the UK, US and France which allowed us all to interact. Plenty of free time and flexibility en route on the Sky Rail and over two hours around Kuranda before returning on the train. Highly recommended.

Great Small-group Excursion to Kuranda

We really enjoyed our guide, Michael. He commented with us very well and organized our tickets for the Skyrail and the train. He informed us of the local history and geography of Cairns as we were driven to and from our hotel. He made our day enjoyable and effortless.

The rain forest is fun

The sky rail was most impressive. I could not imagine the extent of the rain forest. Kuranda has many things to offer to tourists other than shops that cater to the souvenirs seekers, such as the alligators zoo, the birds display, the butterfly farm which are very limited in numbers and the prices to see them sky high.

Fantastic scenery Great experience.

All of it the Kuranda Rail was very scenic and the sky rail was also very scenic in a different perspective. It was a great experience and would do it again.

Michael was great, he messaged where to meet for pick ups, he is very helpful, great knowledge about cairns, we almost missed a stop, but Michael actually came to our train window to meet us( so we got off at right stop) Kuranda was stunning, thank you so much Michael 😊

Fantastic day tour!

Michael was a great host and was very knowledgeable about Cairns’ history and the area. Pick up and drop off from hotel was easy, the whole experience was great and Michael was very accomodating. Will recommend to friends travelling to Cairns in the future.

This was the highlight of my holiday whilst cruising on the Carnival Splendar.

Michael was the most amazing guide providing information on way to skyrail and back. From the start of booking was easy as did not book through the cruise ship. Michael was waiting for us to leave our cruise ship and gave a detailed tour of cairns whilst on the way to the skyrail. Arranged all tickets required and assisted in every way and was very affordable tour. At the end of the tour Michael even came onto the train to collect us as we mixed up our stop and would have continued to Cairns. Other travellers had an issue with a tree in the trainline and Michael was able to change thier times for the sky rail with no issues for customers. I cannot recommend Michaels services enough 11/10 for sure!!!!

Nice visit in Kuranda !

Mickael is a nice guide, he knows a lot of things about Cairns and its history. He organized the trip and made all the bookings to the Skyrail and the railway. I am a french traveller, he gave me the paper guide to follow and understand all the railway trip. This tour bring you to the rainforest with really nice views on the trees and Barron gorge. I will recommend this tour for sure.

Nice small group trip, on time

We love that Michael was on time when he picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. Michael constantly communicated through emails and messages so we knew what to expect in the trip. The Kuranda Scenic route was beautiful. The carriage was clean and spacious. The attendant named Donnely is friendly too. I enjoyed the ride and it was so relaxing. It was not a good weather when we arrived at Kuranda station, it was raining and the train were delayed, as a result, we had less time in Kuranda. There were shops in the Kuranda village we have not explored but that’s okay coz they seem all similar. We literally had to run to make it to the Skyrail because of short time and heavy rain but that is okay coz the staff at the Skyrail were pretty organised in letting people in. We loved the views from the cable car despite having of heavy rain. My suggestion to Michael is have a larger microphone so we can hear you better when you show us around, and maybe include a little ice breaker to get to know all the passengers. It would also be nice to mention some recommendations on local food, resto, or other activities to do in Cairns. Overall it was a great trip.

Skyrail to Kuranda and Kuranda scenic rail back/hotel pick up with Cairns Custom Tours

Everything went as planned. Michael was there to pick us up from our hotel a few minutes early. He was very knowledgeable about Cairns. Dropped us off at the Skyrail. The experience on the Skyrail was great. Views from both the Skyrail and the two stops were amazing. Stopping at Barron Falls is a must. The lines to get on and the lines at the first stop took a while, giving us a little less time in Kuranda than we would have liked. In Kuranda we did some souvenir shopping, had lunch, and walked the forrest trail. There wasn't much time for anything else as we made our way back to the train station for a 2pm departure. The train experience was good, especially the stop at Barron Falls, which provided even better views than the Skyrail stop and the turn the train makes next to Stoney Creek Falls. The train itself is older and not air conditioned. This was okay in July (winter) but as the train went through a lot of tunnels the smell of diesel was pretty strong with open windows. I could see how this would be very uncomfortable in hot weather. The train ride is a lot longer than the Skyrail and the the Skyrail is a more pleasant ride than the the train, but I am glad we had both experiences. Michael was there waiting for us at the train stop and got us back to our hotel as promised. Wonderful day exploring touring the rainforest.

We had a wonderful day. Our tour guide, Michael, was extremely efficient and knowledgable from picking us up at the hotel, to dropping us off at the Skyrail and then picking us up again at the end of the day. The scenery was spectacular, even though the weather was not the best, and the train ride back made the day. Would love to go back again and have a bit more time to explore around Kuranda.

Easy Experience with great views

Michael was prompt and had excellent communication. He provided interesting information on our transport to/from experiences. Kuranda itself is a bit of a tourist trap, but offers some unique stops and fun opportunities if you are willing to look for them.

Hassle free touring

Had a lovely time in Kuranda on the Skirail and the historical railway on the way home. Michael was a wealth of information, on time for the pickups and reliable. It was a good hassle free way to tour Kuranda without having to organise or chase my own tickets.

Great day trip

Michael was very organised and ensured we we picked up on time and where there were changes to arrangements he kept in touch with the group to let us know. On this particular tour the tickets are arranged for you by Michael and he drives you to and from the start/end point and you are free to do what you want in between. Commentary is provided on the drive. The railway and skyway themselves were stunning with some amazing views. I'd certainly recommend Michael and Custom Cairns Tours and the trip to Kuranda.

Views are amazing. We faced communication issues with the tour operator alongwith random seats for rail tickets (not being together) causing discomfort

Kuranda Skyrail & Train

World class experience. Amazing view of the rainforest that could not be experienced without the gondola. Train ride back to Cairns was on a historic railway that was an engineering feat completed over 100 years ago. Historical narration along the train trip was informative & well delivered. Don't leave Cairns without completing this tour!

Transport driver rude and arrogant

The transport driver was arrogant and rude towards myself and other passengers on the bus. I will not be recommending his tour to any of my friends and family. As for the Kuranda itself, it was very enjoyable and the staff were lovely.
