Kuranda experience in a day…

All of it! The Sky Rail provided a great birds’ eye view of the rainforest, and the stops allowed for exploring. Kuranda Village was rather quiet on a Monday with several market stalls closed. There really should be more info on market opening days/hours on the Viator website! We enjoyed the Gold Class ride on the scenic train. Pls - can coffee be served in a proper cup/mug (not on waxed paper cup!) 🙏

Unique experience

Stopping at the falls on way up and back. Different views and experience. Going up by train and coming back down on the gondola gave us a great overview of the area. The gold class service on the train was worth the extra cost.

Dream come true.

Holding a Koala Bear was a long life desire that finally came. Skyrail (Gondola) ride was fabulous and getting off twice to see sites and learn about the oldest rainforest was especially enlightening. The rail train back was fantastic and recommend it in the afternoon. Enjoyed the zoo and the Butterfly Sanctuary. The shops and their items reminded me of Woodstock.

Fabulous views

Amazing views, photos turned out fab. Made better by delay due to tree on line. This shortened time in Kuranda village which pleased my husband. Skyrail down was amazing and the stops were well worth doing, as view of falls was incredable.

Great sightseeing

The Gold class car was comfortable and service was excellent. They served plenty of food and drinks, so lunch in Kuranda was not needed. Views from the right side of the rail were great. It’s open air and was comfortable in April. Plenty of shops and galleries to browse in Kuranda. The return Skyrail was scenic and good to do in the afternoon as the sun was at our back . The overlook of Baron’s gorge was even more stunning than from the rail stop, so worth getting out at each stop.

Best tourist experience.

We were delighted with our experience on this wonderful excursion. Apart from the natural wonders of the rainforest and the Barron Falls the people/ staff who work for the Company were the best ambassadors. We found them to be welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable.

Gold pass skip the line kuranda rail

Excellent day very well organised from pick up to drop off. The skip the line gold pass was a lovely experience and the mocktail before we boarded was most welcome in the 32 degree temperature. The arrival of treats, cheese, nuts and drinks was lovely but we were quite full from our hotel breakfast! Worth not eating too much pre morning train! Good opportunities to photograph some stunning views and chug along on the train. Kuranda was hot and had some interesting market stalls but also quite a few shops were empty/ closed down. The Skyrail trip back was fun and again several photo opportunities were available. Good coffee/tea in the gift shop before we boarded our return bus. All round a fun day.

Excellent day trip

Well worth booking this trip. Amazing views from Skyrail and Train. Staff were amazing from Paul our driver on collection to all staff on Skyrail and Kuranda rail services. We had a lovely few hours in Kuranda and enjoyed visiting the butterfly sanctuary and the markets. Gold class was lovely end to our return journey, a few drinks and snacks in wonderful relaxing surroundings.

Great train ride, awesome views, bit too long

Train ride was great with the Gold service a nice touch. Kuranda was worth a look and the Butterfly World was lovely but staying until the 3.45 cable car was about 90 mins too long so two of us took an Uber back to Port Douglas rather than wait

Amazing vistas

Skyrail over the rainforest and seeing kangaroos, Barron Falls was amazing. Kuranda was a fun town and we went back for a 2nd day to see more sights

Must do this!

The Gold Car experience on the train was outstanding. Yummy food, lovely server. Scenery superb, both on the train and Skyrail. I highly recommend this excursion.

Average experience

Train trip and cable car were nice with stunning views. If you want to save money, don‘t buy Gold Class tickets - the benefits dont outweigh the cost. Kuranda was disappointing: super touristic (actually the most „toury“ spot seen in Australia on our short travel). Big time commercialisation of caging animals. Not for us. Our kids liked the train and scenic waterfalls. Bottom line OK, but not more

Trip advisor own dodgy company Viator

Trip advisor own viator who sold me a tour that was not running and they then cancelled it. Trying to get my money back is a joke!! Dodgy phone numbers , emails just keep telling a different lie time and time again. Going to consumer affairs abd ombudsman

Our introduction to Cairns

We loved travelling in the old train and hearing all about its history and how it was built. We enjoyed being in Gold Class and the snacks and drinks we had on the way. Throughout the trip, we had beautiful scenery over Cairns, the rain forest, Glacier Rock, Stony Creek and the Bridal Veil Waterfall, and past the Barron Gorge & river. We stopped briefly by the pounding waterfalls. In Kuranda itself, we visited the Kuranda Koala Gardens and saw a number of Australian animals, freshwater crocodiles, koala bears, wombats, kangaroos. We returned by the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, a 40 minute journey travelling 7.5 km in three cable cars taking us high up above the extensive and magnificent australian rainforest with some trees that grow very high. This cable car journey gave us great views over the Barron Gorge & river and waterfalls and over into Cairns and islands such as Green Island. A great introduction to being in Cairns and Australia.

Wonderful Kuranda

This trip was so well organised, we were collected at exactly the correct time our driver was very friendly and informative. The views from the skyrail are fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed our train journey back in Gold Class where we were very well looked after, we did a little shopping and had a lovely lunch at the Kuranda Hotel. Of course our day was made complete with our photo holding Rocco the Koala. One of my best birthdays ever!!

Excellent views and experience within rainforest, be sure to take skyrail stops for additional exposure. Tourist shops in town where a downside of tour.

Spectacular View Tour

Absolutely stunning views that you would see if not on this tour. Supplied drinks and local foods for us to try. Very friendly and helpful staff I wound recommend this tour highly.

Fantastic experience of winding up through the Barron valley and crossing the amazing bridges. Recommended.

Top Cairns attraction

Both the train and ski-rail were memorable trips to Kuranda. Even a bit of rain didn't detract from the beautiful scenery.

Easy way to get to Kuranda without a car

This was such an easy way for us to explore Kuranda. We were picked up at our hotel and able to jump straight in line for the Skyrail up with no wait. At the end of the day we were pampered in the Gold Class car on the scenic railroad. Then taken back to our hotel.

A great excursion.

We traveled to Kuranda by train and then returned to Cairns by Skyrail. The Gold Class package was nice. We enjoyed the snacks and beverages. The seats were comfortable and the views were beautiful. The attendants were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic customer service

This was our second tour with Down Under Tours. I have been so impressed with there customer service. The care and detail they showed and willingness to accommodate anyone was just amazing. The trip to Kuranda was fantastic. The cable car ride was stunning. The train ride down was fantastic. I could go on and on about this experience. I would recommend Down Under tours to everyone looking to have a life long memory

Beautiful and fun.

It was a full fun day. We chose the Gold class train car and were really glad we did. Comfortable seats, yummy snacks and drinks and cheerful service. The views from both the cable car snd the train were outanding.

Beautiful Views

we loved the both the gondola ride and the train. Gold class was a nice touch. did a hike at Kuranda, more fun than shopping. food in Kuranda was hit and miss, crowds didn't help, do research before going.

Worst experience

Train was over an hour late in high heat Which than didn’t allow us enough time to enjoy the area or even get to see the butterfly’s we only had time to buy a drink look in two shops than make our journey down to meet our transport Would never recommend to any one especially at that price food was dreadful only beer and wine yuck

Fantastic day.

The service was a 10, good commentary and beautiful views, overall it was a lovely day. Although I am not fond of heights, I found it was not scary at all, loved the view on the sky rail too.

A great day trip

We loved our day on the Cableway and the Kuranda Scenic Railway Gold Class trip. There is lots to see and do. The food was excellent on the train.

Excellent trip Skyrail...

Excellent trip Skyrail brilliant, with a ranger talk and new look out. Kuranda railway great did the Gold Class option this time & really enjoyed the experience. I’ve done the railway trip four times over the years and thought the village of Kuranda a little rundown & needs a refresh with more to offer visitors.

Great trip

The trip was great with very tasty local treats and drinks on the train. Skyrail staff were very friendly and helpful. Pick up details were a little sketchy. We booked the train up and the skyrail down but the meeting point was at the Skyrail. It was not clear if the booking was wrong or if we were being transported from there to the train. The tour operator name should also be front and centre. Fortunately the booking systems are excellent and the Skyrail staff clarified that we were waiting for Diwn Under Tours

Trains, Skyrides and no Automobiles...

The train ride was beautiful. I did the Gold package and the food as well as choice of beverage was very good. The cabin crew were equally wonderful. The skyride down was wonderful and very beautiful above the canopy. The only feedback I would offer is that the time in Kuranda was limited to less than two hours so I had to run around like crazy, trying to jam everything in. Would like to see the time in Kuranda expanded.

Worthwhile trip but clarify information with your group

Overall trip was good but lack of clarity by tour group on meeting point meant bus left without collecting us. Had to arrange private Uber to skyline at own cost with no reimbursement. Skyline ride and train itself interesting and rainforest tour informative.

Beautiful sites

Really enjoyed this train. The area is beautiful and the seats comfortable during the ride back from Kuranda village. The hostess was very kind and the information of the area was verY informative. Great day !

Great way to make the...

Great way to make the trip up to Kuranda and back. The train ride and snacks made a great start to the morning. The views from the skyrail are amazing.

The sky rail was good

Sky rail was good. The train was not good. We booked the gold class and skip the line but there was no lines to skip. Also the services was not very good in the gold carriage as we was offered only 1 drink where others was asked if they would like a refill we had to ask for another drink. Also when they brought the wipes round he offered me one and as my wife was going to take hers he just walked away.

Skyrail was awesome Kuranda markets amazing train trip back was the best I recommend do the Gold pass they don't let your wine glass get empty better viewing

Great excursion, poor booking experience.

The scenic gold class was absolutely fabulous. Great journey, magnificent scenery and a wonderful conductor. The Skytrain was also great. It was a shame that I was booked to be transferred from Skyrail at 8am only to be told by coach driver I was not booked on her schedule and should wait for the 9.10am transfer coach. Having arrived at 7.30am not to be late a wait of over 90 minutes was unacceptable. Recommend booking direct with Skyrail.

Kuranda Gold Pass and Skyrail not to be missed.

The Kuranda Gold Pass train trip is stunning and the service is excellent. We enjoyed the food, the sights and the history of how the rail dangerously came into existence. We needed more time in Kuranda, but enjoyed the Koala Sanctuary with other wildlife there. Many shops and eating places in Kuranda to peruse. The Skyrail is amazing with great and vast views of forest with 2 stops on the way to get out and look around. Our coach driver in the morning was great - amiable, helpful, humorous and informative. The whole day was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. We loved it and would recommend it to all.

Worth the upgrade

Kuranda must do gold class

The Kuranda scenic rail never gets old. I have done a couple of times now and would definitely recommend the gold class going up and the sky rail coming back. Mondays not a lot open as far as eateries go but otherwise I suggest frog restaurant or the Kuranda pub is also good.

Excellent day of great views and amazing animals

We bought a ticket that included the railway up there and skyrail back, so we got to see two different views and in the middle we visited the Kuranda koala Gardens and saw lots of great animals (including holding a Koala which you can only do in this area of Australia).

Great Cairns Experience

Views from the train and Skyrail were magnificent. The information given to us about the history of the railway and its construction was very interesting as was that of the Skyrail and how it was built with helicopters so that the forest was basically undisturbed, amazing! It was also nice to have locally produced food products on the train. Good wandering around the shops and stopping for a coffee at a cafe at Kuranda
