We popped in on Tues 28 May 2024. This is an absolutely fantastic attraction and experience. Please add this to your itinerary - you will not be disappointed. We visited in the daytime - there are guided tours every 30 minutes. This is the story of a hard-working Italian who built the whole Park by himself, in the early 1900’s. There is also a café and shop there. Plenty parking. Highly recommended.

Fantastic visit

The history of Paronella Park was amazing to think this was a 14yr old boys dream and he spent his life creating that dream. Our guide Ben was so good. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. To have the current owner greet you when you enter and leave was a nice surprise too. We would highly recommend you visit

This was an amazing place to visit and to hear the true story of how it came about the staff were amazing good value for money as the ticket lasts you for 2 years

Great place to take your interstate visitors.

Loved the tour and then we spent another 2 hours walking around. It was just beautiful. Staff were so friendly and our tour guide Chiara was very well informed. Just a great day out for our Sydney visitors as well.

A vision in the tropics.

Stunning vision from almost 100 years ago. Jose Paronella had a dream and, even though it is not in its original state, the beauty is still easy to imagine. We went on the day and night tours and they are both a must. The falls were in full flow and the light show at night was spectacular. Staying at The Paddock caravan park was well appointed. Cannot recommend this enough.

Paronella part day and night

We did the day tour and went back again for the night tour and light show. It was amazing to hear the story, the storms it has survived and the amount of preservation work that has been done to it for everyone to enjoy. Fun to feed the fish and turtles as well if you have kids.

Really a magical and unique place, with a charm and inspiration. We have spend the night in the powered campground just next to the park, included in the visit ticket, really a great value!!! And the best part was the guided tour with KEN, special mention for him who is so passionate and thankful to share the story of this place. For my girlfriend who is not perfect with English understanding, it was the first time she understood everything because Ken did his job so well. Thanks to you for this. One man’s vision and passion, preserved.

What an amazing story of the passion put into creating a castle and his pulling together of all the favourite places from his travels. Our guides were fountains of knowledge, and it was awesome to see the variety of ideas and creativity one man put into this epic project. You can ignore the ridiculous one star review from January 2024, it was fascinating and inspiring when you hear of what one man went through to achieve this amazing outcome. You’re not coming here to stay in a five star Castle! The pub serves are great meal too, an easy 5 min walk over a swingbridge for some local hospitality.

A definite place to visit

Wow, definitely recommend the park but make sure you go on a tour as the park and buildings will make more sense. The night tour was a benefit and added a different element but would love more stories of what would have occurred during the night time with Jose's family. The staff definitely work there because they love it, Megan as a guide was amazing. Have dinner at the pub, the food is excellent and all meals had by our family were enjoyed.

A most wonderful day

A wonderful day thanks to our guide Simon from TROPIC TOURS. First stop was Babinda Boulders where you can swim and do a rainforest walk. It was beautiful but very humid. Then drove to Etty Beach hoping to see Cassowaries in the wild. Sadly it was too hot for them. Simon made us afternoon tea. Lovely rainforest tea for me and really nice carrot and sultana cake made by Simons wife. Next we went to Paranella Park for a guided tour. We had 3 guided tours around different parts of the park. Simon had given us so much information and history about the park it was invaluable. After the second tour we went to the gorgeous old country pub for dinner then back to the park for a night tour. We got to sit in a rainforest with bats flying overhead listening to classical music with a waterfall flowing in the background and beautiful lights over the fountain and building. Paranella Park is an inspiring, amazing story of one man’s dream. Please go and find out about this amazing place. Thank you Simon for a wonderful day of learning.

Total waste of money and a major disappointment

The pictures are misleading. The so called castle, ballroom are just ruins with moss covered concrete. It's just your imagination that has to run wild when the guide talks about fun times people had here. There are better waterfalls, better rainforest experiences and better wildlife in Cairns outside Paronella Park. The cafe is good and the staff are very friendly. The ticket includes a night guided tour as well but that's useless if you have time just for the day trip. In my view, it is way over priced for the experience it provides. There is literally nothing but ruins and a back story! I'm surprised how this can even be called a tourist destination. While I understand that every business wants to make money, this park offers very little value for the premium price it demands. I'm kicking myself that I didn't check the bad reviews. I feel that I've been given a sucker punch.

Such a beautiful place.

Mark and Judy are an amazing pair of owners. The time and love they put back into this park really shows. We went just after the floods and the work they did to get the park re-opened really showed. This was our second time in going and we will certainly visit again on our next trip to North Qld.

Welcoming staff - such a magical place

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful! Les was an excellent tour guide and Karla was extremely helpful in organising accomodation and dinner at the local pub just up the road for us. Paronella is a MUST if you havent done it before, and the night tour with the majical light disply just topped the experience off! This was my third time back - il be back again for sure.

Unreal! Amazing!

Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended! Are guide Anna was very good she took us on the tour and told us all the history about the park it was very interesting. You can really imagine the park as it was way back. The waterfall was unreal and the light show and night tour was really fun and so lovely to see it all lit up. The campsite provided was also the cleanest and best we have stayed at! Loved everything about this place!!!

Romantic Paronella Park.

Truly magical. Takes you back in time.

Absolutely beautiful, magic place to visit. You must do both the day and night tours to truly appreciate the essence of this place. The caravan park is also fantastic the facilities/amenities are the best I have ever used in my 30 years of travelling. Cannot fault the experience.

Ruins in the Rainforest

Interesting Park with a lot of ruins of one mans dream to recreate a Spanish Castle in Australia's tropical rainforest. The Mena Creek Falls are great and are best seen from inside the Park but can be seen from outside the Park. It's not cheap but the night show is worth doing for the coloured lights etc.

Interesting and enjoyable visit to an unique park.

This place was spectacular. We camped at the Paddock and spent two days coming and going from the park. We took a guided tour with Jaela that was entertaining and informative, she did such a fantastic job. The service here is exemplary and I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely return in a heartbeat.

Incredible customer service

20 out of 10 for their incredible customer service . We stayed in the cabins and while they are not fancy by any means they had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable, and the air con works a treat . The tours were fabulous and well done for the care taken and restorations done of the property. It’s an absolute must see for those coming to the area . If you are staying here it’s also just a 3 min short walk to the pub :)

Only good things to say

Only good things can be written about this park. Should you be a travelling camper, your entrance to Paronella Park includes one night stay in their second-to-none camp area on site. From being greeted on arrival to day and evening tours then farewell on leaving, this is a must do experience. You are free to wander around the park, over the falls on suspension bridge, have coffee in their cafe or just veg out at your camp site. It's all there. A long way from my home but I certainly would welcome a second visit should an opportunity present itself.

Paronella Park - NOT TO BE MISSED!

From calling prior to arrival to book my tour and campsite resovation, to my experience arriving, having lunch, going on the day and night tours, and having brekky the next day. My entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Not only is this a special place to see and feel but you can tell that ever single staff member that I encountered wanted to give me a good experience too. I have travelled to a lot of places and the customer service at this park really stood out to me, alongside the epic and unique beauty of this park. Not only that, this place is such good value for money. You get a free night of camping with your day and night tour package. All for $55! There are great hot showers and a laundry as well, which was so well received. I can’t fault this place. Great coffee and scones too!!!

You will regret not going

Absolutely amazing place like nothing I have seen before, like something from Indiana Jones. An incredible story of the founder and the current owner is just as passionate. A real treasure for Queensland and Australia. Price was very reasonable and we may even come back if we can.

A magical place

A hidden gem! One of our favourite places we came across whilst travelling Australia! Well worth the stop!

Another off the bucket list!

We made a return visit to Cairns so we could mark this place off our bucket list and we were not disappointed. Julie rang early in the morning to arrange our dinner bookings as they looked like they were going to be busy, which was a nice touch. Trudi couldn't have been more helpful. Margarite took our day tour, she was able to throw her voice even to the back of the group so no one missed out on hearing this amazing story. We had a short talk from Mark the owner at the start of the tour which was again a nice personal touch

Worth a visit

A delightful few hours meandering through what are ruins but much much more. We did the tour and the story of Paronella was made more romantic by the beatiful accent of our Italian guide. Marguerite made the story of Jose`come to life and what an amazing story it is. Don't go thinking ruins , go thinking, hard work, vision, passion shared love and a great deal of entrepreneurial skills and you will enjoy

A definite worth going to attraction in QLD

On advice did the day tour before the night tour & so glad we did. Billed as the go to Queensland tourist destination & how accurate they are. Is a great story of a persons drive & determination to achieve what they did. A truly great experience & would suggest staying at the new van park behind the Mena pub. Never seen such huge amenities & admission to Paronella park includes a night in the van park.

A wonderful day

A great day and evening tour, even though drizzling- we were looked after with umbrellas. We also used their ‘paddock’ to camp overnight and had a meal at the pub- a great day. The story of Paronella should be made into a film!

Fascinating story!

What a great find! Didn’t know this place existed. Fascinating story behind it and what an innovative man with Jose Paronella! Mena creek pub was good too!

Perfect Day Out to Appreciate Nature and History.

We visited Paronella Park for my Husband's Birthday, we both had a great time. The park is so Beautiful and we also enjoyed walking through the forest, and visiting the museum. The waterfall was Magnificent, and it was fun finding the Secret Garden. The Café and Gift Store were Lovely too. All the staff were very friendly and professional. You also get a free pass for a year, so we will be definitely visiting again. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Paronella Park

Fantastic place to come back too this is a wonderful experience and a testament to the dreamers of the world Jose in the beginning and Mark, his family and wonderful staff now who are keeping the dream alive. Both the day and night tour give you so much information on this amazing place. The paddock caravan park is fresh and clean with wonderful amenities don’t miss it on your trip North or South

A must visit to Paronella Park

We drive down from Cairns whilst on holiday. The place was recommended by friends. What a place. The place is constantly being lovingly restored, improved, preserved by the current owners Mark and Judy. It was a really wet day and Mark met us in the car park with an umbrella each. We had fresh scones jam and cream then roamed. Jose’s dream and legacy is truely amazing. Just go there

Definately worth a visit

An amazing place to visit, we stayed at the paronella Park camp ground, a warm greeting by lovely fellow. We’ll set out and clean campground, spent a few hrs at paronella, fantastic, informative and funny tour guide, well worth doing. Found ALL staff at Park to be friendly and service with a smile. Pub for a meal again great friendly young staff. Back for the night show, yep you guessed it amazing show and guides. Hats off to whoever employs staff, they are a great asset for an amazing tourist attraction!

Beautiful venue with great story

I absolutely loved the park! I particularly enjoyed the little guided tough, it gives the park so much more character. It’s beautiful and well worth the visit.

Fabulous Paronella Park

Wow..what an amazing Day and Night tour...Paronella Park put on...10/10.. The story..and The journey ...was so interesting..From the time we booked till the time we left..from our over night stay...with our caravan..new and clean amenities..to Mena Hotel great dinner fabulous..well orchestrated booking with fantastic customer service and knowledgeable tour guides..definitely one for the bucket list..Michele and Wayne

Don’t understand the fuss?

How this has got to be a major tourist attraction I shall always wonder! It is nothing but a crumbling mess of old concrete covered in moss, unstable structures and bat infested tunnels. All Unsuitable for people with limited mobility. Very tacky with even a mirror ball in what is supposed to be the main ballroom and aluminium seating taking away from everything. Lots of builders rubbish & unfinished fenced off projects. Read the terms of ticket purchase well! We broke down on the way and we’re not offered a refund only the ticket is valid for another days visit. After sourcing a hire car we decided to travel over an hour. $110 for 2 adults definitely not worth it. Didn’t bother with the night show. On the Plus side… coffee and scones good and we know not to go again.

Spanish migrants dream and entry ticket valid for 2 years unbelievable

Informative quirky Maeva our night guide was excellent as was Les the story teller. Mark Evans owner introduced himself!. Fascinating dreaming of Spanish migrant Paranella. Beautiful Waterfall and picnic areas on site Cafe. Free camping organise with Paranella Park when booking admission ticket. All staff excellent. Recommend day history tour and night tour. Amenities 👍 the new overnight park is next to hotel. We had a powered site in the old section in the beautiful gardens it was excellent. Best deal entry is for 2 years

Stunning Place

This is a definite must do if you go to Cairns, QLD. It is hidden away, but once you get there & start wandering around, you will be blown away. It is incredible. Such history & amazing story of how it came to be. Did the guided tour (which is free) & well worth doing to get a good understanding of what it’s all about. Very mystical & such a beautiful story. Make sure you take the time to visit. They have a night tour as well. You also get 2 years to keep visiting on the 1 ticket.

We absolutely loved this. What an inspiring story of what a big ego and hard work can achieve. The most beautiful scenery and a story everywhere you look. The staff were super friendly and full of knowledge.

Such a beautiful place to visit. We really enjoyed the history being the attraction. The night tour was well worth going back for. We stayed in their caravan park which was included in the price, soo good. Thanks Mark and the team. ALL the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable.

What a Dream

This is a wonderful story with fabulous execution. The guides are entertaining and genuinely enthusiastic about what this place offers. Did the night and day tours and loved them both. Thank goodness a wonderful family have purchased and retained the character and charm all the while building asset for the region. Will return

Magical, Friendly and a must see!

From the moment we entered Paronella Park we knew this place was magical. Mark the owner was there to greet every guest and to thank them for visiting. The Staff are all wonderful and very clearly happy in their job. Youness especially was our tour guide and was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Unfortunately, when we stayed it was absolutely pouring with rain but between showers, we managed both the day and night tours...both amazing! We stayed on site in our Roof top tent and found the amenities and camp kitchen both clean and adequate. This place is a definite must see!

What a place!

Wow, I what a great place to visit! Must be an amazing place to work because all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The caravan Site was included in the admission price which makes it even better for travellers. We went to the daytime tour and the night show (all included). Don’t miss it!

Amazing experience

The whole experience was amazing. We went afternoon then back for the night tour. A must do! Staff were very helpful Mel went way above helping our friend with a Mobility scooter. Younes was brilliant with all the information. Would love to visit again! Highly recommend.
