K'gari (Fraser Island) Getaway 3-Day from Hervey Bay

Wonderful experience

Super organized and eventful tour. We learned a lot of interesting things about the island. Our guide Guy was always attentive and stopped when he spotted something worth seeing. He also responded to the wishes of the group and was prepared to change the program spontaneously, also with regard to the weather. He did a great job!

We enjoyed our tour immensely. Our driver and guide Guy showed us the best spots of the Island and had many interesting facts and stories about history and vegetation.

A great experience, educational and a fabulous tour guide!!

I wanted to do this tour for so long but didn’t want to camp out, this was the perfect alternative. The tour is basically the same as the two day getaway tour except the first night you stay in the kingfisher resort hotel. The sunset cruise for the evening was fully booked so I missed out on that and watched the sunset on the beach instead but it was gorgeous. I couldn’t do any of the walks or trails because I was on my own so in hindsight I would just do the 2 day getaway and save myself a few $100’s. The 2 day trip was so fun, the island is absolutely beautiful. The weather was gorgeous. The hotel on the 2nd night was nice too! The food provided was nice and I treated myself to a steak at the beach resort which was so tasty! Also the tour guide Andy noticed that I was travelling alone and spoke to me the whole trip, he was so friendly and full of knowledge and funny stories. We all joked that he was our ‘holiday dad’ (he doesn’t know this) because he had the group so well looked after and everything organised! It’s very clear that he loves what he does and works very hard! We got lucky with this driver and guide! The order of the itinerary changes depending on circumstance but it worked out really nice for us! The only negatives I can think of is that communication isn’t great, I had to email to get my booking documents as I booked through a third party and received an email from the resort with the wrong date. Then I had to guess where I needed to be on the morning of the second, and at what time as you aren’t told specifically. Also the backpacker deals website I booked through says that you receive two breakfasts and two lunches but you only get 1 breakfast and 1 lunch - the same as the two day tour. It should also be clearer that this tour is in a coach and not the small 4 wheel drive vehicles and it says max 30 people on the trip but the max is now 40. Anyway, super pleased I invested and went on the trip!

Great experience

Hayden was a great bus driver, who knows a lot about the island and people. He even swapped the tour, that we had more time in the places and less driving cause the water come up the beach. Thanks a lot to him.

Amazing experience thanks to our guide Mark (Sarge)

We had the most incredible 3 day tour to Fraser Island! Everything we saw was breathtakingly beautiful! The tour was very well organised and our guide Mark (Sarge) was fantastic. His knowledge of the island was absolutely incredible and he made all explanations very interesting. He is super kind and caring. We loved that he arranged a table for the whole group so we could have dinner together (if we wanted to of course). I’m scared of every creepy crawly, snakes, the lot! However, being led by Mark made me feel very safe. Thank you so much K’gari explorer tours, but especially Mark, who made our trip- you deserve all the recognition and credit! Great tour... with one major problem

We had a great trip on Kgari with some special moments at Lake Wabby, Eli Creek, Indian Head and Lake McKenzie. We even went in a light aircraft from the beach. The guide 'Mark' was absolutely fantastic. We saw two dingos and even whales. So why only 3 stars? The start of the trip, from the mainland side was a total shambles. Our Viator ticket instructed us to meet at a River Heads address at 2:50pm. That seemed a bit strange so we called the Kingfisher Resort office at 9am (in advance). At this point they asked "why aren't you on the ferry?". It was meant to start at 8:30am! WTF. So we had to rush to the meeting point at 12 noon (with our own transport) for the next ferry. When we arrived late, the reception staff BLAMED US for arriving at the wrong time. We felt really annoyed by this sequence of events. Due to the incorrect times printed on our ticket we missed out on most of our first day on Kgari. Finally, when I raised my concerns with online Viator staff noone seemed to understand the problem and tried brushing it off. Invariably, future guests will have to go through the same cycle of stupidity. PLEASE give better instructions to guests. A simple one page itinerary would have prevented alot of problems.

4 Day Ultimate Tour

An excellent adventure. Wayne our 4wd bus driver was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge on all things K'gari/Fraser. So much fun. Kingfisher Bay Resort is stunning and we had great meals at Sand and Stone and Dune restaurants.

Book a tour, guarantee you won't be disappointed

Absolutely loved every minute of this tour, our bus driver Steve was a wealth of knowledge and was very accommodating. He sure knows how to handle and drive a bus!!

K;gari 4 Day / 3 nights Experience Tour departing Hervey Bay

We did the K'gari 4 Day Experience Tour in December 2022. Picked up from our Hervey Bay hotel by very friendly guys and taken to Ferry to cross to Fraser Island. Stayed in Kingfisher Bay Resort and found we had the room over the 3 nights so could leave luggage there when we went away to Eurong Beach Resort (now K'gari Beach Resort) for a night. Only taking our small wheelie bag and beach bag we started our 2 days full of adventure in our 4WD big blue bus. Lake McKenzie is something amazing for a swim in pure water so unique. 70 mile beach's golden sands is the east coast of Fraser Island freeway which we whipped along to great spots like floating down a fresh water stream to the beach and a nice lunch was provided. So many things even a flight taking off from the beach if you wanted. I an only thank our driver Steve for his patience, knowledge and the easy going friendly way he took us to all these places. 4 WD Bus Tour

Been to most fascinating places of the island in two days. Thumb up to our awesome driver guide Mark, who did lots of knowledgeable commentary, safe driving and relaxing paces. Definitely a my memorable trip and highly recommended.

Amazing 4WD tour

Was a brilliant trip altogether. Best part being the informative fun ride with our incredible tour guide Mark. Got us cracking up throughout the whole trip and amazing driving skills. Lake Wabby is a must visit on this tour. In general, the trip was fantastic. Thanks Bob (jk).

Great 4x4 tour

Was an amazing day with Hayden. Very informative guide. Great driving. Loved evrything about the day. 4x4 bus was terrific. Lunch was yummy. Saw 4 dingoes. Scenery was beautiful. Timing to get everywhere was perfect.

Anniversary Adventure

My husband surprised me with the K’gari Getaway Tour for our 10th anniversary, so I really didn’t know what to expect because I didn’t know much about it. Not only did it turn out to be an incredible trip away but the tour was truly a beautiful and epic adventure! What made our experience even more memorable and enjoyable was our tour guide Mark — he was the man! Hands down!👌🏽 Brought the vibe and took our tour to another level with his personable nature, expertise, knowledge, skilful storytelling, wit and humour, and going the extra mile with tips and tricks to make our trip unforgettable.

Great 4wd tour

Brilliant day- Dave Down was a great guide- informative commentary, great driving skills, kept to time frames- generally a very nice bloke. Tour was well worth doing- saw a lot of the island in the 4wd blue bus. Buffett lunch was nice- plenty of food. Few dingos around but you just stay away from them. Well worth doing- hope you get Dave as the tour guide/bus driver- he is excellent. Thanks Dave.

Bucket List

We did the K'gari 3 Day Getaway Tour with Warren. It was the best way to see K'gari without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We learnt about the history and got to experience Champagne Pools and Lake Mackenzie. Highly recommend and can tick K'gari off the bucket list.

Amazing trip

The day trip was fantastic and our tour guide Martin was great he is a man that knows everything about Fraser. Only one thing I was disappointed in was the lunch it was cheap and nasty so don't think you are going to get something lovely because your not. I think if you pay a lot of money for a trip you deserve a nice lunch.

3 day tour fraser island/KGARI

A wonderful 3-day tour. Everything went wonderfully, pick-up, transport, etc. We saw an incredible amount. For holidaymakers who don't have so much time, the 2-day tour can also be recommended. You see the same stops. On the 3-day tour, you only have to stay in Kingfisher Bay at the beginning. We liked it, but it wasn't absolutely necessary. Don't pay attention to the times when booking, for us it was 2:50 p.m. But Lis was 7:45 a.m. Make sure to check with the local travel agency beforehand
