A good informative tour

The tour took us around Mt. Isa town pointing out various historic sites and telling us the story of the history of the town. Our guides were very informative and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed out time.

Recommend City Tour

Upon arrival we were greeted by Phillip and bottled water was offered to us (it was about +30 outside). The tour was very good. We visited places of historical significance, worth mentioning nature areas, got insights into Mout Isa mining complex. Our group consisted of visitors and new Mout Isa residents (young miners) so Phillip gave some tips on places popular with locals , I.e. bakery, leisure parks and local clubs. With friendly tour atmosphere I had a fantastic start to the Isa visit. I highly recommend the tour.

Phillip the guide was fantastic to listen to. His knowledge of the district was great and so interesting. Stuff you can't find about just driving through town. Highly recommend it.

All You Wanted to Know About Mount Isa

Really enjoyed our 2 1/4 hour mini-bus trip with driver/guide Phil this afternoon. Phil was entertaining and informative. In about 20 stops (including a toilet break at the railway station) we learnt fascinating tidbits about the town's history, past and present buildings, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, mining history and current lead and copper processing, air quality controls and even a bit of botany. Thanks a lot Phil!

Introduction to Mount Isa

We both enjoyed this glimpse into the mining history of Mount Isa. If we noticed anything missing it was that there was little reference to the history of the local 1st Nation peoples, this is pretty sad but we felt should be addressed in a respectful manner. Our guide was great and endeavoured to make our tour fun and informative.

Driver very friendly not very knowledgeable though.

This tour was ok however we were hoping for more history of the town. Our guide was a nice guy who made sure we were comfortable but wasn’t very knowledgeable and couldn’t answer many questions. He did give us some great info here and there and some of the things we saw including around the mine site, Casa Grande, old tent house, the lookout and some of the early accommodations in Mt Isa were interesting. The tour went 40 mins overtime and unfortunately we found it a bit boring.

This tour provides a good overview of Mount Isa, helping to get oriented and find out some local background/history. Also enjoyed the tip as to where to get good sandwiches.

Mount Isa (Morning) Town Tour

Excellent. Our friendly tour guide/driver Phil gave us a lot of historical information about the different places in town such as buildings, parks, community heritage and more. His knowledge of the mines was interesting for someone like me who is new to the topic. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mt Isa.

Great Introduction to Mount Isa.

Excellent way to learn about Mt Isa past, present and future. Great air conditioned coach with a very knowledgeable local guide. You certainly get the lay of the land with plenty of time for questions. Cool drinks provided. Plenty of photo opportunities. Thoroughly recommend.

Craig was a wealth of information and we saw and heard so much about Mt Isa that we wouldn’t have discovered on our 2 night stay. Good value tour and would highly recommend.

The history of Mt Isa was very informative and interesting. Everything like the mines, underground hospital etc was well worth hearing about.

A Must Do

This 2 hour tour was interesting and great fir tourists and new Mt Isa residents. The tour guide, Craig made it interesting as he knew the town well and was very informative about the mine. A lot was packed into the 2 hours.

Very good guide knew or of the history and filled us in on the mine etc loved it thank you took us to interest spots around the town rodeo look out Irish club which we are now at and enjoying a meal very nice best part was we didn’t have to drive and could sit back and be taken to interesting spots so for me well done

A must do in Mt Isa

We are experienced travellers and quite adventurous, but this tour took us to places we would not have thought about visiting. Craig was a great driver/guide who was a mine of knowledge and who gave us a better understanding of the town and its history. Full marks to him and the company.

Amazing Mining Facts and History

The information on the local mining industry was interesting and fascinating. It was wonderful to hear the stories of the development of the town and it's infrastructure. Our tour guide Rob was engaging and very informative.

A good way to overview Mount Isa

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We were picked up outside the visitor information centre. Despite the email telling us to be 20 minutes early, the operator only arrived 10 minutes early. He explained that Mount Isa runs on Fiji time 😁 Early in the trip we were given a potted history of the city from the first discovery of metals to its current status. We then visited a number of important sites. We alighted at the RFDS HQ but not at the tent house/underground hospital. Our next site was the suburb where the mine executives live. It is very well maintained. Unfortunately we could not see casa grande as an unknown VIP was in residence and the drive was secured. Following on was a trip into the mine site. We saw an historic adit and two currently operational. Our guide explained all the important features of the mine. We had a stop at the station to take photos, despite the sign prohibiting cameras. Our final call was the lookout where we gained panoramic views of the city. The tour is well worth taking.

Eclectic and informative

Wayne delivered an eclectic mix of Mount Isa history and local info to make a visitor's stay better. We learned about mines, fossils, where to go for a drink or a meal, and where to find groceries on a Sunday. His own experience working on the mines gave a personal insight to the inner workings and made it more relatable. A great snapshot of the city and well worth it.

Chris is a champion

My family and I did this tour when we stayed in Mount Isa. We only had a day and a half in Mount Isa and wanted to learn about the place. This was a great tour for that and our guide Chris knew everything and taught us so much even who the streets were named after and how Mount Isa was only found after someone’s horse named Hard Times, did a runner one night. So full of rich history. After the tour we actually found ourselves navigating the township with ease, a vast difference to before the tour, believe me.
