Mixed feelings

The tour itself was ok, yet: you will only see adult females which mostly are asleep. There are no babies (which they claim on their website). If you did not see sloths yet: good to go there. If you have seen them in the forests as wild animals, it is probably not worth going.

Overpriced and Disappointing

The Selvatura Sloth Tour is unfortunately not worth the cost. While you will see sloths up close, the experience feels overpriced compared to what you can enjoy in Costa Rica’s national parks, where sloths are often spotted in their natural habitat for free. The sloths here are rescues, and while it’s good they are being cared for, it felt more like a tourist trap than an authentic wildlife encounter. If you’re eager to see sloths, save your money and visit one of the many incredible national parks where you can spot them in the wild. This tour adds very little value and left us wishing we had skipped it.

Incredible Wonder!

This was one of the most treasured things we did when visiting Monteverde . We were able to get up close to the cute, adorable sloths and watch them move and feed, only about 5 to 10 feet away allowing for great photos but I’ve coarse no touching per the rule in Costa Rica because it can harm them. We had paid for a sloth tour earlier in our trip only to see a patch of fur curled up about 100ft in a tree. This was worth every dollar if you want to see and learn all the beauty about the sloths and also get great photos.

Wonderful Experience

The staff here were super kind to us. We had just finished the ziplining canopy tour, and wanted to add on a tour of the sloth sanctuary. We arrived 2 minutes late for the tour that had just started, but they quickly sent someone off to ask the tour group to wait for us. They got us quickly check out for the tour, and had a staff member take us right to the tour group, and we didn't miss out on anything. Once in the sanctuary, we learned a lot about sloths from our tour guide, and even got to see the veterinary team come and interact with a couple of the sloths who needed medical attention. We didn't get to see any sloths in the wild during our 10 days in Costa Rica, so we are super grateful that we got to take a tour of the sloth sanctuary. I also very much appreciated that the sanctuary is just that--a place for injured (female) sloths to live and thrive when they can't be returned to the wild due to their injuries. It's clear that the staff here are well-trained and have a thorough knowledge and respect of sloths, and they are passionate about sharing their knowledge with the public. Thank you so much for the great experience, and everything you do to keep sloths safe!

Awesome trip, great people

Had a great time exploring this place. Saw a few animals but it was raining pretty good so the animals were home watching Netflix I guess. The bridges were fantastic and we didn't use a guide.

Expensive but maybe the only option to see sloths close up

Echoing other comments, this place is crazy expensive but having spent 11 nights in CR at 3 locations including Arenal/La Fortuna, this was the only time we saw sloths close up. I think they have 12 sloths and you can see them all from several metres away and can get excellent pictures with your phone.

Interesting

After waking the hanging bridges in the morning we then visited the sloth habitat. It was certainly interesting and well worth the visit.

Poor value at $149 for 2 adults 2 children to see sloths for barely 30minutes

The sloths were great to see and have a nice sanctuary... however very short time actually in there for $149 for 2 adults 2 kids. Then an hour wait for transportation back to our hotel. Bit of a con! Suggest go elsewhere for longer Poor value

Sloths up close in a zoo-like indoor setting

Two couples traveling around Costa Rica: We had seen a wild sloth in a high tree, but wanted to see them up close. This zoo-like experience with orphan sloths gave us a chance to see many sleeping, and we were lucky to see a few move as well. It was paired with a butterfly house where we saw many butterflies hatched there from eggs farmed or harvested around the country. For photography, the settings didn't look all that natural. (The company could look at the settings as a photographer would and make some improvements.) But more of a disappointment was the attitude of the guide. He seemed tired and bored with dumb tourist questions. We were on many good guided adventures, and this was the least exciting, not just for being indoors but also for his attitude. We did learn one thing that stuck with me: Many, many sloths are being killed and orphaned as forests are cleared. Costa Rica has some national parks, but those places are outnumbered by increasing city, farm and ranch lands.

Must see for sloth lovers

excellent tour, got to see many sloths up close. We were able to to take many photos and videos & learn about the sloth behavior. We had the ability to film sloths climbing, feeding, etc. Had a great time. Glad we went. Tour is well organized and educational & guides helpful and knowledgeable. Facilities are well kept and clean. Beautiful park.

Nice experience

I was a little concerned about this tour because I had read horror stories about deaths being kept in cages for visitors to see. However this was nothing like that. This was a well thought out walk through with the resident sloths free to move around. The very informative guide explained to us the set up of the habitat and the sloths looked very relaxed. Tgey had all been rescued as abandoned babies and were therefore very used to their surroundings. A good way to see sloths up close.

Don’t miss the bug tour!

Extremely interesting tour of reportedly the 3rd largest insect collection in the world. Apparently only about 5% of park visitors choose this tour, which seemed a shame as it’s a hidden gem. Our guide amazed us with facts, figures and anecdotes from the world of bugs. Good for all ages. Enjoy!
