Puntarenas Highlights 6 in 1 Shore Excursion

Half good, half boring

This trip covers a large amount of time, but a lot of that is not productive. Some of the people in our van were getting dropped off for a different tour, which took more time. The drive to the activity is pretty long and traffic is evident. We were disappointed with the jungle walk because it was really short, and there were no critters to observe. The crocodile boat ride was the best part of the day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and good about pointing out all the birds, and we saw several crocodiles. Notice the wild bananas with a beautiful flower on the shoreline. The fruit tasting was welcome, but nothing special. The whole long drive back to Port was pretty quiet. I appreciate that guide was very in tune with making sure we got back to the ship on time. Overall, we were disappointed in this trip based on enjoyment compared to cost and time invested.

Recommend if in good shape

Unfortunately, the most memorable part of the trip was the walk thru the jungle and suspension bridges, that were advertised as moderate walk. Not at all moderate as up and down on trails that are stair steps with concretes cement blocks of various heights, not level, or crumbling. The majority of the time there was only rope to hang onto. Very unstable. Had to concentrate so much on not falling, we didn’t get to enjoy the scenery.

Not our time to see critters

I suppose it is a matter of timing when you plan an excursion that involves wildlife. This wasn’t our time. It was a very hot day so all the birds were hiding as were the crocodiles. This excursion included a hike to swinging bridges. The description under estimated the difficulty. Our tour group had folks with mild mobility challenges. And again, nothing interesting to see. Our host and bus driver did a pretty good job considering what nature was not doing.

Great tour!

One of the best tours I have ever taken!! Ariel is an amazing guide! He answered all of our questions and provided a very informative narration while traveling to a location. While at each attraction, he pointed out many bird and tree species. Our driver, Angel, was the most engaged driver I have ever had. He pointed out points of interest and helped locate macaws and toucans. He found alternative route when a road was closed to show us a known macaw location. Highly recommend this tour!!

Friendly, attentive crew.

We saw big 'ol crocodiles and lots of colorful birds. Crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. Fun for all ages.

Not what I expected 😒

The tour operator was very knowledgeable of the area and nice. We could understand his English. The sky bridges were good, but we saw no birds or monkeys. It is a lot of walking on this portion of the trip. The stop at the Spanish village resort was nice and the fruit snack was fresh. We saw some wildlife here. The crocodile trip was not good. We saw one large crocodile and a few small ones. The guides on this trip were not good. The driver of the bus was not good. He missed several turns and had to turn around. He also locked the keys in the van at the shopping stop. The bus was okay, but no microphone so he was hard to hear sometimes. We skipped the city portion because we were running an hour behind getting back to the ship. I wish we had chosen a different tour.

Great tour and got to see a lot of wildlife. Also saw the 18ft crocodile name Osama bin Ladin (named that because he is hard to find).

Nothing Much Here

This was a port of call on a cruise, Had a walk about around trinket stall/market Rained very heavily, strolled around the town. Nothing much to do or see here.

Not 6 in 1

It is not explained that you need to choose btn a zip line, a jungle hike, or a trailer pulled by a tractor through the "jungle". If I had known that you didn't have to climb a lot of stairs, we would have gone on the zip line. My friends went on the hike and said it was moderately difficult, many uneven steps that were very high, a lot of up and down. They do hike and have gone on some difficult hikes. We went on the trailer because my Mother knew she could not do the stairs (that we thought we had to climb), and could not do the hike. If there were any animals in the 'jungle' (more like a rain forest) they heard the tractor coming. The gentleman driving the tractor really tried to find something for us to see. We saw an iguana, a frog, and a lizard. We were taken to the crocodile boats, and I did see one of the biggest crocodiles I have ever seen. Our tour guide did the best he could and really tried to keep us happy. But I feel the tour was misrepresented. You need to choose between the tours, ( we were not told that), you take a quick ride through town (not much), the crocodile boat ride, and a tourist shopping area.

Great experience

Great driver and guide. All in All great experience. Both did a great job. We were a party of 5 and all enjoyed it. Our bus had 28 people and was easy to Hear the guide

My tour guide and driver were great BUT, the tour was not explained to me adequately when I booked

When I booked, It was not explained to me that I needed to pick from 3 different excursions, Zip Line (which you don't have to climb ladders to get to), a walking tour that was on the difficult side, or ride through the forest in a wagon pulled by a tractor. I realize that Viator cannot guarantee us seeing animals, but they were few and far between. Our guide Ronald tried his best do everything in his power to keep us happy.

Really well organized, a small group of 20, with two excellent guides, so groups of 10. Kept us informed and did everything to enhance the experience. would highly recommend it.

Truely the Highlights!

6 in 1 Limon Highlights. January 23,2023 Our Guide Luis (Luiz?) was outstanding! His knowledge of the Banana harvesting and everything else was very interesting and informative. Driver was great too. Tour was not rushed and we had about 20 people on a big bus so it was a nice size. Good variety/balance of things to see. Saw monkeys, sloths and snakes. Truely the highlights! Would highly recommend Greenway and this tour.

Rainy day in Costa Rica

cold water "snack"" was refreshing!! Five hour tours should either provide lunch or allow for time to eat

very good diverse tour

we took this because it sounded like a good tour=turned out we were correct left from the pier, stopped to see capucin munkeys in the wild, proceeded to the rain forest (not what we expected let down) crossed the hanging bridges-then onto croc safarri-saw croc & birds (nice)-stop for refreshments & shoppng=back to pier total time over 6 hours, well worth while & quite good

Big Disappointment

We waited where told for your tour after disembarking our cruise ship. No one showed up. We called the local vendor. He said to go to the end of the pier and wait for someone. We waited over 45 minutes. We called again and were told our tour had been cancelled. No notice from the vendor or Viator. After returning home I contacted Viator and did receive a refund, but I lost an hour of time waiting for someone who did not keep their appointment and lost out on what I had contracted for.

this tour is well worth it when you cruise ship is only at port for 6-7 hours. watch out for mosquitos!!

Best 6-in-1 Combo WAS Best

Did many excisions on the cruise. None compared to this one in terms of enjoyment and variety. Guides were very helpful and educational. No particular part was totally amazing, but the package in total was.

We had the most wonderful time on this excursion. All staff were very delightful. Fun to be had on this trip.

Fun and interesting first look at Costa Rica

Guide was good and knowledgable. Nice assortment of activities Problems; no lunch or edibles and all participants were given the same 6 for 1 tour. Most did not pay for that tour. They paid less. I paid by far the most. Obviously, I got the least value. That does not make me pleased

Puntarenas Rain Forest Walk Activity Level is Not “Easy”. Please Beware.

The good things about the excursion were the tour guide, Stephen, and seeing 19 crocodiles from a bridge overlook. The average things were the lack of time in the shopping/eating part of the tour and seeing very little wildlife on the crocodile boat ride. What I really want to concentrate on is a warning to everyone about the activity level of the rain forest walk. It is advertised as easy. I asked the owner of Greenway specific questions about what that meant. His answers lead me to believe that it was easy. IT WAS NOT EASY. It is climbing up and down narrow, sometimes loose, steep steps. It is crossing two long “swinging” bridges. It is hot. It is an hour long. Greenway provides NO cold bottled water. We brought water with us, left it in the hot bus and returned to very warm water. After the walk you are driven about 15 minutes to a hotel and then have to walk another 5 up a steep incline to get fruit and cold water. Please make sure you know and consider this. I later emailed the owner about the rain forest activity level and his answer can be summarized as “that is too bad,”

<p>Greenway Tours was excellent Walk in the Clouds very informative re: Rainforests of Costa Rica and Central America the Crocodile portion was unbelievable the boat pilot got out with pieces of fish and actually walked up to a 6 foot female who leaped out of the water to grab her meal - the pilot survived, of course, by jumping out of the way of those large teeth. Obviously, he was no beginner with the crocs. Awesome tour!</p>

<p>While the tour itself was excellent, our tour guide was disappointing in that we were left sitting on our bus for 45 minutes before leaving despite fact that all scheduled passengers were ready. No explanation offered for delay and guide needed reminders when we got to our destination 1 hour away that the bus passengers needed to use the restrooms immediately. The trip to Antigua was most interesting, except that we had to walk on narrow sidewalks in disrepair, and our guide was at the head of a long line and did not caution people re: potential dangers. The trip to the mineral springs spa was delightful, and a pleasant end to a tiring day.</p>

<p>The guide was late to the port so we had to walk quite a way to his van. The pier was filled with tour busses from the cruise line<br/> or other tour companies. The tour confirmation stated it was good for all activity levels. No so! The walk through the rainforest <br/> was horrible for a person with mobility issues. There were at least 1-200 uneven concrete block steps going down through parts of the rainforest over about a 1 km distance. Anyone with any issues should not take this part of the tour but wait on the bus! The rest of the tour was fine, the guide knowledgeable and spoke English well. The tour on the Tarcoles River with the crocodiles was fascinating. When the driver saw animals along side the road he stopped so we could all get out for photos.</p>

<p>Really enjoyed this trip. Our guide, Alberto, met us on the cruise pier and we were one of the first groups away from the ship. There were 4 of us travelling in the minibus - great! The first highlight was the river cruise were we saw a variety of birds and many crocodiles sunning themselves on different parts of the riverbank. The boat driver took us over to the riverbank and we were right beside a very large crocodile half submerged in the river! The second highlight was the walk through the rainforest, starting higher up the hillside and descending down a pathway and over 2 very interesting bridges.</p>

Beautiful tour

Very nice tour with mini group (4 people), Pick-up in the port and organization all in the best. Always a lot of time, no hassle. Tour took significantly longer than planned.
