Fun night walking tour!

Awesome Tour - Just Do It

Justin gave us an awesome tour and we saw everything we could have hoped for! A sloth, a porcupine, toucans, tarantula, etc!

Fun tour with an excellent guide!

My husband and I had a great time on this tour with our guide, Justin! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and area, had a great sense of humor, and was a lot of fun to spend time with. We were able to see a bat, many birds, frogs, a tarantula, bugs, and a couple other mammals. This tour was one of the highlights of our time in Monteverde!

Amazing!

Our guide was very informative, knowledgeable and so excited to see and show us an armadillo on the ground, porcupine in the trees. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great guide, thank you so much.

Night life in a rain forest

Our guide, Justin, provided an excellent night tour. He found four different birds; a toucan, a lesson motmots, a few brown jays, and another one whose name I can’t remember. I especially enjoyed the education he gave us about leaf cutter ants. Justin also showed us a tarantula, a walking stick bug, a frog, and a tadpole. Also saw some beautiful white mushrooms.

You can't go to Mountverde without experiencing this nocturnal nature walk.

Justin lead a memorable night hike in monteverde. He was able to spot several birds sleeping in the trees. One of which was a colorful Tucan. He was able to assist with taking pictures of the animals spotted through the scope he had. Highly recommended.

Felt Stressful and Exploitive

The tour felt corporate, exploitive of the animals, and overly focused on just getting people pictures for social media. It our tourguide heard a report over his walkie talkie of a potential animal sighting from one of the several tourguides in the area, he would make us rush through the dark to that location. At one point we traversed the *exact* same section of trail flat least four times in a row in an attempt to see something. Additionally, when he saw a tarantula deep in a hole in a tree, he antagonized it with a stick to draw it out. If all you care about is seeing animals and getting pictures, and you don't care how it happens, you may enjoy this your. If you are interested in a more relaxed tour that seems to seek to minimize it's impact on the animals, I'd recommend Santa Elena Reserve's Sounds of the Cloud Forest tour instead.

Must do in Monteverde!

Such a great experience! We saw so many animals and our tour guide was great. Even if we hadn’t seen anything, it would have been a fun experience to run around in the forest at night!

Great tour!

Kendall was a great guide lots of information and had a great eye for spotting wildlife. Saw frogs, insects, birds and a tarantula!

Misleading.

What Viator doesn't explain in the listing for this tour is that it's not actually in the official cloud forest reserve. It is thorough one of the local private tour companies that is described as the most commercial on a few websites I've since cross-referenced. I wish I knew this before we booked. The walk takes place on a small and fairly trotted-over farm that does have a forest on it but it's by no means the cloud forest reserve. It was packed with large groups of people all chasing down the same one sloth and viper and scorpion, which seemed a bit suspect if not simply disappointing. Please make sure you research the company you are booking with. There are many 'night walk' tours available and they're all at different locations. Only one is offered at the official Cloud Forest reserve. Make sure you book with them directly or choose a well reviewed company and book with them directly. You will not know who you're getting through this site.

Dissatisfied Explorer

Walking through the rain forest at night and experiencing nature up close was awesome,but: After viewing your online photos, I was very disappointed. The photos displayed bats, frogs, snakes, and much more, yet after a 2 hour walk, all I saw were 2 tarantulas.

Nightwalk Monteverde

We had a great tour with our guide Steven. He knew interesting facts about the species and plants we could see during the walk. He took great pics of the animals for us as well. We had a good time. Would recommend!

Great night walk

Our guide was great at pointing out interesting features and the spotting scope really helped us see some unusual fauna. The small group and in a less visited forest were real plusses. Unfortunately there were not many mammals or birds to be seen that night.

Definitely one for nature lovers. We loved it!

We did the Kinkajou Night Walk through Faro Travel and we loved it. Our guide was Danielle who was excellent. She was really friendly and passionate about the wildlife and very knowledgeable. She was keen to tell us about the animals in the cloud forest and she showed us so much! Tarantulas, frogs, several birds, snakes, a sloth and a kinkajou. Definitely one for nature lovers. Highly recommend.

Great wildlife photography experience

Amazing night walk with Daniela who was well educated on Costa Rican wildlife she was also very helpful at lighting my photo subjects and patient as I took my photos. She made sure everyone got a good look at the animals before we moved on. Saw so many amazing species that night including Kinkajous, Olingos, bats eating fruit, Vipers frogs and a tarantula. Amazing Night Hike

We had an amazing time on our night walk! Our guide Greivin was absolutely amazing! I would absolutely reccomend requesting him for your tour! We saw porcupines, several birds, armadillos, tarantulas and many other types of insects. We also got to hear coyotes, which was amazing and chilling at the same time!

Wish we saw more unique animals

Christian is a guide who helps keep everyone safe and does his best to help everyone see what he sees. Unfortunately, it seemed we were being shown some standard and non-unique living creatures. We saw a racoon, an armadillo, a firefly, a grasshopper, a tarantula, etc. Coming from Texas, we hardly say anything that we may have not seen in Texas. Also, our tour was shorter than we expected. It was not a 2 hour hike. It seemed like too much time was spent in picking up and dropping off and only a little over an hour actually spent on the night hike.

Night walk

I booked a night tour and had Diego as my guide. He was awesome, spotted sloth, pit viper, tarantula, exotic birds, frogs, porcupine and more. Diego was very knowledgeable in all the different species and was very patient to answer any questions I had . So glad I booked this tour and totally recommend.

Awesome experience!

Our guide knew a ton about the animals and knew just where to find them! We got to see so many animals and learned a lot!

Nachtwanderung war Reise-Highlight, viele Tiere

Sehr empfehlenswerte Nachtwanderung im Gebiet des Reservats Saint Elena bei Monteverde. Wir haben in den 2 Stunden mehr Tiere gesehen als wir erwartet haben. Joaquin war ein grossartiger Guide. Er fand ueberall in den Baeumen seltene auch grosse Tiere. Dagegen war der Besuch des Monteverde cloud forest tagsüber ok, aber bei weitem nicht so erlebnisreich, geradezu "Tier befreit", aber fuer Pflanzenfreunde sicherlich schoen.
