Amazing 3-Hour Horseback Riding at Puerto Plata with Pickup

An experience I will never forget!

This was so much fun! What’s an amazing experience! I got there and got to pick out my horse, before we set out on this beautiful trip on a path that lead out to the beach!

Come for the horses, stay for the views!

We had a great time with this horseback riding experience! Very easy to reschedule as our cruise ship arrived a different day than expected. Communication was prompt and efficient and the views were beautiful.

Highlight of my visit to DR

This was the highlight of my pleasant, though brief, visit to Puerto Plata on a cruise. I was so scared to get on the horse because I've never ridden a horse before, but our tour guides made us feel comfortable with their steady assurances that we would be fine and their simple instructions. We rode for about 20 mins until we came to the beautiful beachside, where our guide took photos of us. I am really proud of myself for learning a new skill. I would highly recommend this tour, even if you are having hesitations about your ability. This was really fun & peaceful.

Great Experience!

This was my favorite activity on this visit to the DR. The horse riding on the beach was the best. We are novice horse riders but they gave us the chance to trot on the beach which was a lot of fun and gave us lasting memories!

Good time

We enjoyed the horseback riding. The staff were very friendly and nice to talk to. The only thing I would do differently next time is have the photographer use my iPhone to take pictures instead of the camera.

Amazing Excursion

We had a GREAT experience! It was my family’s and I first time riding horses and I truly admit we were all pretty nervous. They paired us with the perfect horses that met our experience levels and everything went PERFECT! We went through the forest then ended up at a beautiful beachfront where we got to relax,have lunch , take a dip and take pictures. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking an excursion with ANTHONYINFOTOURS!! No issues and no complaints from us …

Maybe try another

We decided to book a separate excursion from our ship and found Anthonyinfotours. Not sure about the pictures people put up or if they have many other groups but our trip did not look like this. We arrived to be picked up in a vehicle with a cracked windshield, not a great representation of a reputable company - old and didn't start on first tries...Arriving at location of horses was sketchy. I did read other reviews and thought they were being picky, but actually they were right. It was they raining season, large ponds of water were on the trail we took to the beach not a problem, the horses did a great job of knowing where to go and were well trained - Paparazzi walked along (and ran) to get pictures, which they try to sell. You need Whatzup to have them sent to you - they were phone pictures - you can get your own shots while you are walking because Jerry will not let you gallop or trot. We arrived at the beach and they could just do so much more to upgrade our experience - clean up the beach. The trip was just ok. We had set our expectations low and they accommodated.

Amazing Experience!!

This was the most amazing experience I have had in a long time. I was not sure at first as there was a lot of mud, but we got to the beach and it was so amazing. I loved that we were the only ones on the tour and not with a large group. We could ask questions from our tour guide who was also amazing. I will be back with more of my family as soon as I can so they can also experience. I normally don’t do reviews but this was worth the effort and every penny we spent on it.

Horseback on the beach

Had a great time horseback riding on the beach and going through the trails. A wonderful experience to be had while on vacation.

Best Beach Horseback Experience in Puerto Plata!!

What a great time! Very LONG horseback ride on the beach and through nature. Much longer than others. Very much worth the money. Horses were extremely well trained for beginners as well as responsive for more experienced riders. Great fun all around! Highly recommended!!

An experience

It was an experience. We started the tour by hopping on the horses with no platform. The tour guides were young and did their job in taking us through on a dirt road and then on the beach. We rode to a hut on the beach for drinks and then were swarmed by men trying to sell jewelry out of suitcases. We were not provided with helmets while another horse tour rode by with them on. I felt bad for our horses. They were thin and my husband’s horse had an abrasion under his breast collar that was rubbing raw. My horse seemed lethargic and never picked his head up. The boys worked hard to make the experience enjoyable by taking pictures. I hope the horses will be taken better care of in the future.

Awesome horses and guides on this adventure!

This was a great experience. We own horses and know good horses when we ride one. All of our horses were fast walking, did what you asked without a fuss. I would trust these horses with young children or inexperienced riders. The horses will take care of their rider. The guides were great, too. Making sure that we had everything we needed. With horse experience we were allowed to lope.our horses along the beach. It was a blast for the whole family. We also got to stop on the beach and my young girls played in the water and we got a cold drink and a nice rest, before heading back to the barn. We would recommend this adventure to anyone!

Horseback riding on the Beach

My girlfriend's very first time on a horse. She got to walk and trot with a very gentle horse. Walking on the beach and trails through the countryside, walking though puddles and on the thick sand was a great experience!

Happy Horses, Happy People

This was a really fun experience. Gorgeous beach and trails, helpful guides. Great price and accommodation time of pick up and drop off at port. Some improvement is needed for the directions where the pick-up location is once the guest comes through the port entrance.

Not Worth the Money

The scenery on the beach was beautiful. But that’s about all that was good. The horses were thin. There was a photographer who took pictures. He never smiled and the pictures were subpar and very expensive. Very disappointed but made the best of it.

Ok ride

Was a pretty nice ride horses were so thin … Enjoyed it have been on way better rides in Costa Rica , most annoying thing was these guys take pictures the whole time and then at the end of it they want you to pay 3000 Dominican dollars for them to send you all the pictures on WhatsApp we took our own pictures. We really didn’t want their pictures but we told them we would pay 2000 we really did not want them. We did it as a favour to them but they were so pushy about it. So annoying.

Didn't know that horseback riding on a beach was on my bucket list, but it apparently was.

Overall this is an enjoyable activity. Unfortunately there is a lot of trash along the way and on the beach, but that's no fault really of the vendor. Be sure to wear long pants and sneakers.

Beautiful ocean ride!

It was a beautiful ride, especially along the ocean. The guides were very friendly! The horses were very relaxed, and made for a nice calm moment in a gorgeous location.

Uncomfortable experience

The horses were great... But everything else I would not want to experience again. Felt unwelcome, unsafe, and taken advantage of. I really wanted to love this experience, but there were so many cons to this that out weighed the good. I'm sorry... I would never recommend this experience.

Lots of fun

This was great fun. The guide Hantz was very good with the horses, and with the humans. There was no size limit for riders. My husband is a big man. We asked if he was too big for the horse. And they said no. But the horses look small. The horses were steady and calm and well behaved. One piece of advice. It’s a long trip. Don’t drink a lot before the ride. It was difficult to find restroom for us before the ride. We’re asked at three places before finding a place. There is a restroom at the stop half way. All in all a very good riding experience. I’m not very experienced with horses, but I was comfortable with the entire trip.

Going back!! Cruiser !!

The pickup from the cruise ship was perfect! We had a very small group, four of us and three guides. A really long, easy walk through woods and beach. At the beach we treated the horses and could get drinks and food cooked on the beach! That was great!! Take cash for that.

Just ok

The horses looked like they were struggling. And the tour guides were mostly there for supervision. But the beach destination was gorgeous and it was a decent experience.

Best part of our day in Puerto Plata by far!

I am so glad I did this! We were definitely hesitant upon arrival, but ended up having one of the best days ever! It started off with some difficulty finding my transportation, a little uncertainty with the area, dumping rain, mud, wet horses, wet kids, and a whole lot of why did I do this.. Thankfully I did not turn around and go back to the ship ( it was very close) but soon enough, the sun was shining and we were galloping horses on the beach. The tour guides were wonderful. One of our guides names was Hanz and he made us feel so comfortable. Allowed us an opportunity to trot and gallop and gave us some free time to grab a rum and Coke on the beach. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to do something different, unique, and memorable. You will not regret it.

Horseback riding excursion

This was a great experience. The only drawbacks were the pictures showed riding horses on the beach. That didn't happen. We went to the beach, but it was just to get off and get something to drink. We went in December. I would not recommend that. It was the rainy season that there was lots of mud puddles. Our guide, Hantz, was very good. He took great care in making sure you were comfortable at all times. Everyone was very friendly. I would do this excursion again, just not during the month of December.

Best day ever! Mix of beach and jungle with a little break at a cute beach bar. 10/10 will definitely do this again!

Great experience!

A really nice and unique excursion! My husband and I each rode a horse and our 5 year old rode with one of the guides. And then you can take the house for a “swim” in the ocean once you get to the designated portion of the beach. It was our daughter’s first experience riding and she had a blast. The horses are gentle, very well behaved. Anthony who was our contact person was very attentive and made special arrangements for us since our cruise ship arrived in port slightly later than the rest of the group. Would do this excursion again. PS: for a small fee, there is a person available to do photography (nice digital camera) for you while you ride the horses. Definitely worth it to avoid fussing with a camera the entire time.

Unforgettable Experience

The guides were amazing! Horses were so much fun and riding along the beach was spectacular! At the stop, my wife got the most amazing Pina Colada ever! I highly recommend!

Pleasant experience

I would have given it a 5 star if it wasn’t for lack of communication. We got picked up from our hotel as promised; however, when we arrived to the ranch, the workers weren’t sure which excursion we had booked and with whom. It took about five minutes to figure it out. Overall, we had a great time! Our tour guide which I believe his name was Hansen was AMAZING; he made sure we were well taken care of. I would totally recommend to book this excursion!

Don't pass this up!

Our guide was amazing (young 20 year old man)! His dog (Memboy) was super! Memboy kept the trail clear for us and ran right with us the whole time! He even pushed cows off the trail for us! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wooded area had a lot of litter (as was noted by another review) but it was just trash washed up from storms. My horse Magi was super kind. My daughter's horse Troy was super lazy! We had a great time! This excursion is a definite do over for us! Our driver was safe, the car was super clean and well maintained. A+ experience!

Terrible

Our guide took us to a trash filled wooded area to meet the horses, the saddles were worn out and Im sure wouldn’t pass a safety test. He then took us on these trails then down to the beach where we stopped at a shack n had a pina colada then he left with the horses and we had to find other transportation back to get a taxi back to the ship. This was an hour and 40 minutes after he left when he said he was going to be gone for 20 minutes. Tony, our contact was in communication with us and refunded half of our money and arranged transportation for us back to Amber cove . very shady sketchy company (the horse company, )Do not book this tour! We got rides back to our taxi stand by two young boys on ATVs and I was bawling my eyes out. The guy who drove us back to Amber Cove was very nice and worked for the dune buggy company that is connected to the horse company. Do not book this horseback adventure!

Funnnn

The horseback riding so FUN. You are not riding horses the whole 3 hours. Maybe like 1.5 to 2 hours. There was a spot at a local restaurant along the beach and the fish we had there was wonderful!! We also had an authentic Pina colada with fresh pineapple and it was sooo good. The scenery is beautiful and our tour guide was amazing as well. It is not far from the resort area like 2 minutes.

Mother/Son Experience

My son had wanted to ride a horse on the beach and this excursion was everything he wanted and more. Our guide was great too!

3 hour horseback ride with Armando

My husband and I do a lot of riding and camping with our own horses. I found this ride on Trip Advisor and booked it because our cruise ship did not offer horseback riding by itself. Our guide was Armando and he was a pleasure to ride with, I love that it was just my husband and I on the 3 hour ride. I have to say this was the best excursion of our week trip. The horses were very responsive'we walked, trotted and cantered, and Armando took lots of pictures for us. We stopped at this cute little tiki hut and I had the best Pina colada that I've ever had. Armando took off the saddle and we went swimming with one of the horses. It was such a fun relaxing afternoon, I would definitely ride again with Armando if we ever return.

A Great Tour for Novice Riders

Timeline: 20 mins from pickup point to riding location. Little waiting before starting to ride. Ride included trail/road through woods before continuing on the beach. 20 minute break near the beach at picnic tables. Food and drink available ($). Return was reverse of first half. Total duration was about 3.5 hrs, pier entrance pickup to dropoff. Pier entrance is a lengthy distance from the boat (half mile, along pier then the myriad of shops). Opinion: If you are not an experienced rider (I'm not) this would be a good tour for you. The horses are trained to be gentle and consistent. I was able to coax mine up to a trot a couple of times, which was fun! Guide: Excellent. I am almost deaf, so when he wanted us to turn or stop, he always came up to me to be sure I understood. Not all guides are that considerate.

A wonderful, authentic experience

My family and I had a great time with our guides who were fun and kind. This was a memorable and authentic experience —after being dropped off at a farm by our driver, we rode from the farm through trails leading to a beach where we rode along the sand. Our wonderful guides fitted us to suitable horses based on skill level. I would do this again!

A great time for e in the family!

We had a great time, very safe and well organized. My 8yr old loved it. Bring lots of water and a few snacks and pack on the sunscreen! Bring cash for local crafts. You do stop once at a local village.

Great experience

All the staff were fabulous from the driver to our horse guides, fun and friendly and very careful and our safety was paramount.

The Sand, The Water, The waves, and a Horse!

I can't tell you how much my wife and I enjoyed our time seeing the beach on horseback. The host was more than accommodating when I found out our cruise ship arrival date had changed and made sure that the person who was supposed to pick us up (Victor) found us amongst the crowd of about 100 people finding their excursion guides. I had a slight concern in my mind of horses and the immense heat of mid-day. As I approached the area of the horses, I noticed they were being greatly cared for by the workers and our horses had been gently sprayed with water which was retained by the coats for quite a while. A cooled down horse is a happy horse. If you do this excursion, ask for Victor to pick you up at your location. He was so very kind to us and we got to see many sites on the way. Dress in dry-fit clothing, the humidity and sun was quite extreme in the first of June. Again, we had a great time!

Best horseback riding experience. It wasn’t a follow the leader type trip. Gallop on the beach and enjoy a nice break at a local beach bar. Our guides Armando and his brother Joseph were great. Best part of our 8 night cruise. Will be back again.

Beautiful Ride!

This was the best tour I have ever been on. The horses were very well taken care of. Our tour guide was very nice, talkative and friendly. The ride on the beach was beautiful and we even got to stop for a beach drink.

Faced my Fears

Patience and the view and knowledge, Victor and Eduardo were amazing. It was my first time riding so I was apprehensive but they assured me it would be save and it was. I will do it again.

This was a great adventure. The customer service and communication is first rate. We changed ports at the last minute and they accommodated us without question.. Victor was our taxi and our tour guide. He brought us around the city after the horseback riding and that was just as much fun. He knows everyone! We had a wonderful time. Best Excursion Ever!

The guides were patient, and very knowledgeable/ friendly with the horses. It was very organized. This is the first time that I ever rode a horse, and the guys made me very comfortable.

We had a party of 8. And we all were different stages of riding me being in that has never been on a horse and Juan Alejandro was and excellent guide and gave me spot tutorials which kept me and the horse calm!! What a great experience I will never forget!
