Trip to Cesky Krumlov from Prague

Beautiful and charming town!

Great tour - a definite must-see as a day trip from Prague. Timona was a great guide. Bus ride was comfortable. The lunch was not included, but the group went all together to a good place where we got our own downstairs room. Absolutely beautiful and charming town. The tower was a bit overpriced, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that, but this tour overall was definitely worth doing and a good value for the price.

Great day trip to a beautiful town

It was a great day trip and Karolina was our guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the region. You arrive to the town around 12p and then you receive a walking tour of the castle grounds and bits of the town before you can break for lunch around 1:15p. There were a few shops we were brought into that I expect have a reciprocal/payback relationship with the tour operators. Nothing sketchy, but I would have preferred to have more time to explore myself rather than being moved along as a group into certain stores/restaurants. They will make you a lunch reservation at a place down in the city center to eat as a group. It was fine, not bad, but nothing special. It was fast and prices seemed normal. I have nothing to compare it to, but know that you may be asked if you want to eat lunch with the group or go out on your own. If I had known ahead of time, I could have researched other restaurants and chosen a place that I might have liked better. Because of all the extra guided touring and the group lunch, we only ended up with about 2.5 hours in total to tour the town. It was barely enough - I would have liked a bit more time to myself to explore. But all in all, I would recommend!

Good start for a 4-day visit to The Czech Republic!

I had wonderful trip to Cesky Krumlov on Easter. The bus drive took 2 hours, and during the drive Karolina shared a lot of information about the Czech Republic history, we also had quiet time to rest and enjoy the view. The castle and the city below were really worth visiting. As it was my first day in the Czech Republic, it was a good introduction for the following days in Prague with a lot of useful information.

Walking through world heritage

Always a unique experience to walk though a world heritage site. Our tour guide Michaela gave us all the necessary information about the castles, museums and city and the best tips for tasting local cuisine without getting ripped off. Highly recommended excursion!

Beautiful Cesky Krumlov

Very unique place, and beautiful. The tour guide was professional & was doing his job. The weather was the best we can get in November, and not too crowded. But, some resturants & shops were closed during off-season. We had enough time to explore the bell tower, the view was magnificent.

Enjoyed!

Easy meeting location and the tour was small and intimate with only 6 people. The guide spoke great English and Spanish and she talked equally in both languages - she sounded a little bit constantly out of breath but overall gave good information. It was nice to get dropped off into Cesky Krumlov, get taken around for about an hour, and then have about 3.5 hours of free time. That was plenty (maybe even a little bit much) to walk around, eat, and visit any museums/attractions. It looks like you could definitely do this tour on your own for cheaper but it was nice to meet some other travelers, have a guide, and get direct transport in and out of the historical center.

Not bad

The city is amazing so the day trip is worth it. Here is how the tour goes. You leave from the pick up point arround 9am and you arrive at Cesky Krumlov arround 12pm. The guide will take you first to the castle to buy tickets (if you want to visit it). The visits to the castle are with a guide, so you should book for a tour at specific time. For us, the available times were 1:40pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm. The castle tour costs 240kc and takes 1hr. You can also visit the Baroque theatre if you want (separate ticket). Then the guide will take you arround the city to show you the basics (the tour from the guide takes arround half an hour). Then you have free time (to visit the castle at the time you chose, have lunch, wander arround the city) until 4:40pm. You will be back to Prague arround 19:30. The tour is a convenient way to visit Cesky Krumlov but if you are on a budget you can visit alone by train or bus.

Final stop on a month-long vacation

It’s a very quaint town with an old castle. The guy that had us climb to the top and book a tour, and then brought us down to the town.. Then we had to climb back up to the castle. It really was an unnecessary process to go up down up. She had lots of information to share, but I think she made this one fatal flaw of having us climb up and then come down and climb back up again. For someone who is at the end of their vacation it seemed like a lot of unnecessary climbing

Extremely dissappointing

Warning! Don’t book with this company - they are very unreliable. We booked and paid for this tour several days in advance at our hotel. We were told we would be picked up from our hotel at 8:30, but the driver never came. When the hotel finally got through to Premiant, we were told the bus had already left from a station far from the hotel at 8:45! It was very disappointing since we had planned everything around this tour. Fortunately we got our money back, but we ended up with a wasted day.

Spectacular place, disappointing guide

I want to say I’m giving 3 stars not because of the town which is breathtaking, but because of the guide. She was rude, and really didn’t t take the time to explain much about the place. I think this visit was one of my favorite experiences of the whole trip, but the guide didn’t make it spectacular. Every time we had a question she was annoyed and barely answered. I could’ve done this on my own

Well Worth Taking the Time

This is an excellent tour. Česky Krumlov is a United Nations World Heritage site. The Vltava River flows around the sides of the Old Town, and the castle overlooks the town. Our guide took us through the castle grounds, through the castle exterior, and then down into the town to the large town square. Along the way she provided clear commentary and answered all our questions. Then we were turned loose to explore on our own for three hours. We elected to take the castle tour (separate from this tour), which provided a fascinating look at the interior of the castle and information about the history of the families who had lived there. Others choose to go through the museum and the castle tower (a long climb, and also separate from the basic tour). The ride in the van necessarily is long, but comfortable. However, be aware that the tour company provides no water and no snacks in the minivan. However, the driver does stop briefly after about 1½ hours on the way to Česky Krumlov, and snacks, sodas, and water can be bought there. More provisions for the ride back can be bought in the town, as can lunch. Overall, this tour lasts about eleven hours, and we walked around 3½ to 4 miles (5.6 to 6.4 kilometers). It is well worth taking the time for this lovely excursion. Well done to Premiant Tours.

Unforgettable Day Trip

This was my favorite thing I did on my trip to Prague (even though it was not in Prague). I initially thought why should I go to another beautifully preserved European city, since I was already in one, but I'm so glad I did. There is nothing like Cesky Krumlov. It was a transportive experience and Micaela (my guide) was wonderful. Would highly recomend this tour.

Unforgettable day trip!

Lovely small group! The tourist guide was great and well prepared. We visited Cesky during Easter and had the opportunity to try green beer 🍻 it was a good experience! Cesky is an amazing place for a day tour, I’ll highly recommend it!

Good experience

Overall a good trip. Pick up point was easily location. Guide Michelle was awesome and took initiatives to share her knowledge about the town. It could have been better if there was more information on what is included in the trip and what not. Due to winters, few areas were closed but this was not highlighted in the trip description.

Nice experience

The castle and the city centre are very cute. The trip is a bit long but comfortable. The bus tour takes you near the castle entrance and then you are accompanied by the guide along the main parts of the venue. The guide (Karolina) is adorable. She will tell you a lot of historical / geographical information and she is always available

Worth doing if you're in Prague

Booked this full day tour. We were picked up from our hotel. Our guide Jakub is so knowledgeable which was helpful because we want to know the history of this beautiful country. We weren’t able to get an audio guide when were in the old castle. Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful city (?) and listed as a UNESCO World heritage site. The whole tour is not rushed and we were given a free time for about 2 hours to roam around the area. It's 2 hours drive back to Prague so having a comfortable shuttle is a bonus. Would definitely recommend this day tour with a guide.

Amazing tour

We just took the most fabulous tour with Michaela as our tour guide, to Cesky Krumlov. It was so professional, bus was very comfortable, and tour was fantastic. Michaela was so knowledgeable about Czech history and culture and was able to give us an outstanding tour of the castle and town of Cesky Krumlov with excitement and passion. One of the best tours we have ever been on. And not to mention Cesky Krumlov was absolutely enchanting and beautiful. Thank you Premiant Tours and Michaela!

Excelente day trip

Great trip, very organized and with hotel pick up. Diana our guide was great, knowledgeable and also trying to provide great tips so we could move around the city in our own time. She is also very caring, someone in our group slipped and she offered to give them her shows that had more grip. Who does that? Increíble nice and kind. Will use them tomorrow again for a tour to Vienna In terms of the town be prepared is cold and most restaurants are closed during winter (January) For sure this trip is a day trip and don’t think I would stay longer than that at least in winter because in summer there are more activities

Just don’t waste your time

Complete scam of a company. They overbooked the tour and then expected us to keep our kids on the lap for the entire 3hr bus tour. They even didn’t have the decency to take us back to hotel when I cancelled. Priority for them is not customer satisfaction, service or safety but money 💰 Make a wiser choice .....

Outstanding guide and amazing trip

We booked our trip the evening before and received confirmation immediately that we would be collected from our hotel in the morning. The pickup was on time and we met our tour guide Karolina who was simply a delight. We heard a lovely collection of history about the Czech Republic and appreciated Karolina’s insights and humour. She made the trip just wonderful. Cesky Krumlov itself was stunning, and we highly recommend this tour as an easy way of making the trip.

Cesky Krumlov

Beautiful picturesque town with many photo ops. Restaurants were ok, nothing to write home about and some nice souvenir shopping places. The scenery may have been compromised as it was Nov and not a lot of colour in terms of grass and flowers but still a must if you are nearby.

This a long tour and the town is very beautiful. Our guide Karolina was very pleasant. The landscaped gardens are nothing special..I would note that there is quite a bit of walking but not too bad.

Don't miss this tour to cesky krumlov if you are in Czech Republic. Beautiful city which is UNESCO protected.while going there was some snag in our transport but full marks to our guide Karolina, first she took us to a restaurant to have drinks and to discuss what can be done then she took us there in taxis .when we were roaming around the town the new bus arrived to take us back.It was a long tour but thanks to Karolina ,who is a wonderful guide as well as a good person, we had a great time

Great Trip to Cesky Krumlov

Wonderful day trip to Cesky Krumlov. Early start and a long day but worth every bit of it. Diana our guide was warm and friendly, enthusiastic and so helpful. Diana worked hard to make sure that everyone on our small tour party finished the day very satisfied that they had had a great day. 10 out of 10 Diana, thanks.

Not a Great Choice

Our hotel booked this tour company for us claiming it was highly recommended. First thing was they picked us up late. True there were many tourists standing outside the hotel but David (who was our pickup) did not go into the lobby where my friend and I were waiting. Number two: group was large (approx. 27). When we stopped for a toilet break it took forever to herd everyone back on the bus. Number three: our guide, Eva had a very hard job. The majority of us were English speaking. One couple spoke French and two women spoke Spanish but understood English. Eva had to repeat herself 3 times which she had no problem with but the majority of passengers did. On a positive note the tour given by a young man at the castle was terrific. Very thorough and easy to hear and understand. The tour company dropped us off at a different location which was very accommodating. I’ve been on lots of tours which were much better. I can’t really recommend Premiant s a tour company.

Cesky Krumlov tour from Prague

Our tour with Diana was delightful. She gave us all the necessary information to make this tour special. We also had free time in Cesky Krumlov to enjoy the city by ourselves. I would highly recommend this tour especially with Diana.

Fabulous Day Trip to Cesky Krumlov

After extensive research, being a solo traveller and deciding to avoid the hassle of trains and buses, I opted to take a day trip out to Cesky Krumlov from Prague. We were a small group tour, of 3 people, and taken to Cesky Krumlov within 2.5 hours in a comfortable, air conditioned minivan. Our guide, Michaela, was pleasant, friendly and extremely informative about the history of Prague and Cesky Krumlov. We were given a tour of the castle gardens, the exterior of the castle and the town of Cesky Krumlov before we had ample free time to do as we wished (3.5 hours!). We chose to spend that time doing an additional exploration of the Baroque theatre (1 of only 2 in the world), grabbing some local lunch and exploring the town at our leisure. We then proceeded to have an interior castle tour around 4pm which went for approximately 1 hour before the journey back to Prague and drop off to our hotels.They actually live up to the description of it being an 11 hour day trip! I could not recommend this company higher for Cesky Krumlov. I don't know any other tour company that gives you such ample free time in the town, given the distance from Prague. Be prepared for a long day and your walking shoes but I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time.

Save your money

After doing two fabulous tours with Sister company, Good Prague Tours, we were expecting a much better tour than what we got. Our tour guide was a pleasant lady but her accent was so strong it was very difficult to understand what she was saying. To make it even more difficult the tour was provide in French and English and you could easily switch off thinking that she was talking in French because her accent was so strong (I could also tell that her French was heavily accented) When you could understand what she was saying it wasn’t very interesting anyway because it was more about what shops sold what souvenirs and where to meet for the Castle Tour. The Castle Tour was given by a difficult guide who worked for the castle and spoke beautiful English and had excellent knowledge and stories about the castle and the various families that lived there. Given the cost of this tour I would recommend that you just catch a bus or train to Cesky Krumlov and do one of the “Free Tour” from a local guide. These are not actually free but because the guides ask you to pay them what they think the tour is worth they are much better English speakers and make the tours find and entertaining which was certainly not the case with our guide.

Worth of money

Ok 6 days at prague and i choose 2 tours with them. Karlovy Vary and Kresky Krumlov. Both of them was very good. They begin on time. The tour guides was exellent and very helpfull. They spend time with us to see the citys but they give us free time too. The buses was nice and clean. We learn and have good time in both tours.

Great tour guide, messed up loose ends.

Booked with Premiant site, Albert was a fine tour guide, he handled the rude Chinese filmer and the dawdling Israelis with grace and professionalism. What was missing was the promised "free boat" tour, and the information that all who take this long tour on a Monday will miss the Castle Tour, as the Castle is ALWAYS closed on Monday. No discount provided for that detail... so buyers beware. No "free cruise" provided as a thank you, either.... felt somewhat cheated.

Tour guide did not match the UNESCO Heritage Site

Our tour guide Jacob gave the tour in German and English. His presentation wasn't clear if he was at a loss for the correct words. He obviously knew the history, but it came across disjointed. The drive took about 2.5 hours n an air conditioned bus with about 12 persons in the tour. In Cesky Krumlov, the tour begins at the Castle Gardens which is a wooded area with baroque gardens. In the middle there is a revolving theater for changing sets offering live shows in the evening which was not part of the tour. From there you go up to the Castle grounds for a photo op and short tour of the castle square. You don't go into the Castle until after lunch. So you go back down for lunch. While you have the choice, the tour guide has us follow him to a designated restaurant because of the limited time. The food was very good but was at least twice more expensive than in Prague. Such for being a captive tour guest. The Castle tour is guided by a Castle guide and was very good though you can't take pictures inside and moves quickly. The interior of the castle reminded me of Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal. There is a huge theater in the Castle where performances are still held. After the castle tour you go back down the hill for a coffee at another tour designated cafe for a coffee. Then back up the hill to see the St. Víta church, and to the bus back to Prague. You get back into Prague at about 7:30 pm depending on traffic.

Bus ride was a little long . Problem with tour is that guide gave information in English then repeated in Italian as we had 1 couple from Italy. Cesky Krumlov was an interesting piece of property. Castle very impressive. Would recommend

A great day exploring Cesky Krumlov with Sofia

I did this one day tour with Sofia last week. She was very engaging and Cesky Krumlov is an excellent place that Sofia introduced us with. She is very knowledgeable and ready to help the group whatever they needed.Only suggestion I have is to keep group sizes small and not mix English with any other language as I could see some of non Spanmish us losing focus when Sofia was providing information in Spanish.

Nice Tour

I took a day trip to Cesky. Tour operator and driver were wonderful. The Hotel pick up was done. My only suggestion for this trip is to have little bigger buses. The bus size was little cramped and it looked little challenging to adjust for 2.5 hrs travel. Having said this..Overall guide and overall journey was very good.

Great trip

Albert was our guide and really made the trip entertaining. His knowledge and stories were awesome. Picked up from our hotel was a bonus. We loved the trip and have fantastic memories, like the best Goulash at the gypsy restaurant. Throughly recommend.

We booked this tour through TripAdvisor and found perfect..they pick up us from hotel and it was more like a private tour.. beautiful castle and town..a interesting history behind it..worth visit

Cesky Krumlov

Should your stay in Prague afford a spare day then this full day excursion must really be considered. This historic place is well worth a visit and should be given consideration. We had a very good guide and had a meal by the river which was most pleasant.

Not enough free time

Our tour started and ended with hotel pick up in a comfortable modern 26 seat coach. The tour of the town and castle of Cesky Krumlov involves negotiating hills, steps and cobblestone pavements. A member of our group suffered restricted mobility and chose to do most of the walking tour using a wheelchair.  This tended to slow the progress of the walking tour despite the best efforts of our guide, Radek, to keep things moving.  We feel this detracted from the enjoyment of the tour and seemed to reduce the amount of free time that we might otherwise have had. 

Reliable option for an extraordinary day

There are contradictions between the Trip Advisor website and the company's exclusion. Lunch is NOT included, although plenty of nice restaurants are available and adequate time to eat. Our guide, Caroline, was knowledgeable, polite, and helpful. She was full of energy and proud of her country. The tour itself cost more than others that did include bottled water and lunch; however, we booked late and missed availability on those options. We have no regrets that we took this tour because we enjoyed Cesky Krumlov (beautiful) and our time with our fellow travelers, as well as Caroline. Nevertheless, the tour company that organized the day trip could be a bit more competitive in price and inclusions.

Highly recommended day trip from Prague

This can be done in a day trip from Prague, and Premiant was very good. Our guide was excellent, and the vehicle very comfortable for the 12 of us. There was just enough free time to get lunch and stroll the streets after our initial tour. The crowds were a bit suffocating, even in October, but there isn't much they can do about that. This place has just become so popular after all the articles in Nat Geo and the like, plus tour books and websites. It did make us glad we had a good local guide however. After the lunch and free time, there was a second, one hour guided tour of the interior of the castle by castle staff, before the ride home.

A long day out of Prague

While we enjoyed seeing Cesky Krumlov, the 2 1/2 - 3 hr. bus ride to and from Prague was simply too long. Book this trip from a closer city in Europe. Our tour guide, Karolina, worked hard but she did not speak English all that well and she had a very strong accent, which made it difficult to understand her most of the time. In addition, there were Spanish only speakers on our trip, which meant that she had to give the entire tour in 2 languages, which was very tedious for all. I wouldn't go on another tour of this length if I knew ahead of time that 2 languages were being spoken. Viator did not indicate that this might happen, so I will know to ask in the future ahead of time.

Great Sights and Scenery - But Terrible Logistics

The sights of Cesky Krumlov are totally breathtaking. No question that its worth the nearly 2 1/2 hour trip from Prague to see the castle/palace and the old town. But .. we felt let down by the organization and logistics of the trip. So here are the things you should know. 1. Our tour was bilingual (and that possibility was stated online). However, it meant that every item was repeated in English and Spanish which made for a lot of words we didn't understand. Our speaker was also more fluent in Spanish, so those explanations were longer. 2. We arrived just before noon, and spent an hour going through the gardens and outside of the palace. All downhill. That took us into the village about 1:15pm, where we had "free time" to explore and eat lunch. 3. We needed to be back at the castle (back up the very steep hill!!) at 3pm for a guided tour of the insides. Lunch then exercise! 4. When that was done at 4pm - we went back downhill again to the square and had another 45 minutes of free time. 5. We then left at 5 to get to the bus. Except the guide left 2 people behind and then blamed them for not paying attention. The entire day amounted to over 9,000 steps (4-4.5 miles) of walking - mostly up and down the steep hill. About half the party didn't go back up for the castle tour as it was too hard for them. Why not arrange the tour at a different time so you don't have the up and down?? The positives. 6. Our tour guide, Maria, did know a lot of history and willingly shared it. 7. The castle tour guide was *so* passionate about the history - it was amazing. 8. The sights and view of the town from the palace were absolutely stunning. 9. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in town - the cheaper (and better) ones are away from the square. So .. visit the town - but ask questions about languages and the schedule of events!! 5 stars for the town, 2 for Premiant. If this was helpful please hit that little button close by. Thanks.

Cesky Krumlov- such a medieval hamlet!

The Premiant city tour has given us a superb tour to this beautiful village. Our tour guide Karol was knowledgeable and accommodating to all of our needs in giving us enough time to explore this pretty amazing medieval town!!! Cesky Krumlov - Nice Visit of Medieval Castle & Town

We had booked this tour since it appeared Cesky Krumlov was something special to discover. Karolina was our guide and she certainly went out of her way to provide information such as historical facts, a map of Cesky Krumlov, she repeated meeting points to ensure everyone understood and offered to accompany those interested in the group to a restaurant she recommended. She made an effort to talk to all members of the group therefore the service was very personalized. At the end, she indicated that we were eligible for a free 1 hour boat cruise in Prague since we had booked this tour therefore this information was much appreciated.
