Prague Castle and Canal River Boat Tour

Great tour

Martin was an excellent guide. We highly recommend him. He was knowledgeable about the castle and many other places around the area. His English is excellent. He was easy to understand, and answered all our questions. The tour started in the old town where he gave us information about the astronomical clock as we passed and. a few buildings, the library, statues etc. These were just places we passed. We went in the Charles bridge museum and were able to read and look at some artifacts. There we learned about King Charles and the history of the bridge before going on the boat tour. The boat tour told about different buildings, their importance, the bridge, floods, and more. We had a snack and drink as part We walked across the bridge stopping and learned about St John Nepunuk. Then we went up into lesser town and learned a little about the government buildings while we waited for the tram that took us to the castle. We walked the grounds of the castle while Martin pointed out unique features and explained some history. He told us the tour usually ends at the tram station but, since we were staying near the castle we requested to end the tour after the castle. Martin gave us recommendations for restaurants and other activities during our stay. This was a great tour to get oriented and learn a little history.

Cathedral, castle and canal boat

Allen is a fantastic guide - incredibly knowledgeable, informative and detailed. He clearly has a passion for Prague and this shines through. This is a fantastic tour which takes in everything you’d want in three hours. Allen brings it alive with his expertise and enthusiasm. The canal boat trip is not to be missed - on a beautiful little barge complete with a drink and ice cream. We had a brilliant time.

Accidental Private Tour

My friend and I were the only ones who had booked during one of the time slots - so we ended up with an accidental private tour. Our tour guide was fantastic and so knowledgeable about the history of Prague. The boat tour was fun, and the walk around the outside of the castle was enjoyable. We even made it right on time for the changing of the guard. Highly recommend if you have limited time in Prague!

Informative walking tour worth the money!

Our guide, Allen, was very knowledgeable and shared wonderful insights throughout the tour, whether it be on Charles Bridge, the Prague Castle grounds, or at a particular building we might have been walking by at that time. He was very thorough and informative on everything to the point our 3 hour tour wound up being over 4 hours! The river cruise portion of the tour was a little less informative and harder to follow, but was fun none the less. Plus you get a free beer on board! :) Overall, it was an informative and worthwhile experience well worth the money.

Great experience with our guide Vojta

This was a great day and had a really nice experience. The boat trip was great (you get a drink and a snack on it), as well as a really interesting audio guide. Exploring the castle was really interesting and the route in general covered all of the key parts of the city that we wanted to see (main square, library, river, bridge museum, etc). We were lucky enough to have a private tour because we were the only ones to have booked it on the day. Our guide Vojta was very knowledgeable and really engaging and made the tour a memorable experience. He was really proud to share his knowledge and culture with us and this was nice to see. I would definitely recommend and would book another tour.

Great tour of the city

A great tour of the most important parts of the city. Our guide Allen was very knowledgable and fun.

Poor communication and terrible customer service so avoid at all costs

We were extremely disappointed with our experience due to poor communication and customer service. Apparently the trip was cancelled the evening before it was scheduled to depart. The coordinator (pictured right) called me from an unlisted/unidentified phone number the evening prior but did not leave a message. She said she sent a text as well, however I did not receive it. Unfortunately there were no further attempts to follow up the next morning, so we arrived at the designated location and informed of the cancellation. Although this was disappointing, of more concern was the rudeness and disrespectful way she spoke with my partner, claiming it was our fault we missed the call. The coordinator (again, pictured right) could not explain why she did not leave a message when she called nor tried any other method of follow up the next morning when the text she claims she sent was not answered. Her young male colleague (pictured left) intervened when I asked these basic questions about why they did not follow up, driving additional unhelpful and confrontational discussion and again asserting we as the customers were at fault. I’m not writing this review because the trip was cancelled. We quickly found an alternative experience. However I feel compelled to flag the poor customer service, inadequate communication and confrontational attitudes of these two employees. This type of behavior is inappropriate and unacceptable under any circumstances. And there are far too many other options in Prague to patronize a business this unprofessional. You can find better, so please spend your money elsewhere.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the town, structures and people. Nice to see Old Town by boat.

Very good, but this is a walking tour!

Really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable. However, we were expecting an open top boat tour with some drinks…instead it was a 3 hour walking tour with about 20 mins on a closed top boat at the end.

Great views of the city and history

The walking portion of this tour is the better part. The canal boat tour is a bit slow but still interesting. Our guide, Radek, was great at explaining the sights and the relevant history on the walking tour, which left from Old Town, went to the river, boarded the boat, then returned to walk across the Charles Bridge and finish at the castle. Radek's insight was remarkable: he grew up in Prague during the communist era and gave interesting insight into the experiences then

Great experience!

Our tour guide Allen was very knowledgeable and passionate about Czech history and architecture. The only downside to the day was the difficulty in finding the tour to start with! There were several in the group who had difficulty finding the meeting point.

A great way to see the sights of Prague

As a group of 6 friends we all really enjoyed this tour. Allen, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the city and certainly gave us information that I don’t think we would have got from other tour guides. Allen advised us exactly where to go in each part of the tour and the best place to stand for photo opportunities! The boat trip in the middle of the tour was welcome rest bite on a very hot day. The only comment on the boat trip is that we did spend quite a bit of time going round in circles! I believe the boats are organised by an independent company (so nothing to do with Allen) and the workers on the boat weren’t that friendly! Overall though we would highly recommend this tour as a great intro to Prague. We then went back to parts of it the next day that we wanted to explore more. Thanks Allen!

This was a great introduction to Prague and even as someone who has been here before, I learned lots of new information. Our tour guide, Allen, was passionate, fun and extremely knowledgable. Make sure to bring lots of water if the weather is hot.

Good knowledgeable guide, but no time management

This was a great tour, but time management was a definite issue. This was a 3 hour tour which was supposed to include a 45 minute river cruise. There was a bit of rain that day which may have slowed us a bit, but because of church opening times up at the castle, the order of the tour was revamped to end with the boat cruise. The tour itself was informative and the guide (Allan) was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. During the tour it became apparent that the time frame was right out the window. The tour started at 2:00 p.m. and was scheduled to be over at 5:00 p.m. We arrived at the cruise dock at 5:30 p.m. for a 45 minute cruise. That would have had us finishing up about an hour and a half later than we booked. When we travel, we try to pack a number of things into each day. We had booked a special dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant for 6:30 and definitely needed to get back to our flat to freshen up before dinner. I'll give the guide credit in that he got us tickets to use 'later' but it was our last day in Prague with booked travel the next day, so those tickets are still in my wife's purse two week later. No matter how enjoyable the guide was, it's just not acceptable to have a tour exceed the booked time by about 50%.

Go on your own instead

Contrary to the title of this tour, you do not go inside the castle, merely the complex where you walk around and enter the church. I went back the next day on my own and bought a ticket which allowed me to enter several parts of the castle. I highly recommend visiting the castle but I don’t recommend doing it with this tour as you’ll need to come back on a separate day to actually enter the castle. The tour included a boat tour which was a waste of time. It only took us to the other side of the Charles Bridge which you do as part of the tour on foot.

Great introduction to Prague

A great introduction to our few days in Prague. Our guide Radek was fantastic with a great knowledge in the history of the town, delivered in a way tailored to our interests. The boat trip & beer/lemonade was lovely too. Many thanks Radek!

Must do in Prague

Allen was fantastic- he was really engaging, clearly loves Prague and knows it inside and out. We would recommend to anyone coming to Prague! Bring good walking shoes.

Worth doing.

Our guide, Allen, was very very knowledgeable and showed us many interesting sights! The tour covered a lot of ground. The boat ride was decent but not the highlight.

Allen was so friendly and clearly is passionate about Prague. He is an asset to the company. My only critique would be the walking tour is a bit too long at 3 hours.

Great tour of Old Town, New Town and Prague Castle.

We had a great tour with Allen! We learned a ton about Prague’s history, architecture and culture. Our entire family had a great time exploring the Old Town, New Town and Prague Castle. We saw so many things and heard stories we never would have on our own. Allen also gave us the option to do the Tram to and from the Castle due to stroller and older grandparents. He even went above and beyond to explain the Astronomical clock. We opted to do the boat tour on another day, which was great since my son couldn’t join us as originally planned.

Aside from the fact that Prague is absolutely stunning and this tour is a perfect combination of a walking & boat tour, our guide Allen was FANTASTIC! He is not just knowledgeable, he us passionate about history more detailed than most guides with clear American English! Allen made our experience amazing

Amazing little trip

Great trip perfect for an afternoon. Our guide was lovely and she was very knowledgeable- we had a small group of just 8 and it was the perfect amount of people considering how busy it is to walk around some of the most touristy parts of Prague! It was great that the canal trip was included too, as well as the tram up to the castle. I highly recommend this tour as there’s just so much history to every building in Prague, without a tour you’d walk past everything and not realise its significance!

Super tour of Prague with a Super Tour Guide

We braved this tour in 90 degree weather starting at 2PM. Even though it was toasty, the tour is well worth it. Seeing Prague without a tour guide is silly...you won't understand the significance of buildings and monuments. And everywhere you turn in Prague, you are surrounded by beautiful buildings and monuments. This tour starts in the Old Town square behind Tyn Church, progresses through to the Klementinum, and onwards to the Charles Bridge. From the bridge, you go to the Lennon Wall, catch a tram to the Castle, where you'll see the castle and StVitus Cathedral. Lastly, you'll catch a tram back to the Charles Bridge to take a boat ride on the river. Our guide was Allen, and you can't do any better than having him as your guide. His knowledge of Prague, its cultural, artistic, and political history is first rate. If we were staying longer, I would like to book another tour specifically with him. We booked this tour one day in advance, and were very satisfied! Thank you Allen.

Castle grounds tour

We had a great tour of the castle grounds with our guide, Vojta, who was very informative and passionate about sharing some of Prague’s history. We also enjoyed a lovely boat river cruise.

Highly Recommend

Great tour from Vojta, who provided a personalized walking and boat tour of his hometown. He provided a lot of solid information and solid context based on his personal experience and that of generations of his family. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

Wasted too much time

We got to see some cool things, but I think ultimately the river boat tour ends up being a major waste of time. We only got to see an hour worth of the actual castle, and had to skip several things to get through it before it closed. I regret not just doing a longer castle-only tour. If you're most interested in the castle, don't do this tour.

The tour and cruise were...

The tour and cruise were amazing .There’s a lot of walking, and stairs in this 3 hour tour definitely worth every dollar.

Bring layers because it may get chilly

We didn’t have anyone else on our tour. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. He pointed out different landmarks and historical facts on our way to the boat. This was interesting and appreciated. The boat provided earbuds to listen to the points of interest. The castle tour was just a walk around the outside areas.

First Class Guided Tour

We were pleasantly surprised to find that we were the only people on the tour, as that meant that we had a guide to ourselves! Vojta was very knowledgeable and went at a pace to suit us. He answered all of our questions and provided a good insight into the history of Prague. We particularly liked the trip on the river and the tour of the castle.

Very good walking tour which was very enjoyable. Allan was a great tour guide and managed to fit in loads of facts as we walked through the streets. The Boat trip was plesant and the icecream and beer was a nice surprise.

Great introduction to Prague

The Prague Castle and Canal River Boat tour was a great experience. In just 3 hours, you are able to gain a great understanding of the geography and history of Prague. The tour featured three parts: walking tour, castle tour, and the river boat. I thought the first two to be incredible, but the riverboat seemed rather slow and repetitive. Try to get Allen as a tour guide if possible.

Great Experience

Allen was very knowledgable about the history of Prague! My family and I learned so much that we would have never known before...The boat part of the tour definitely broke up the walking!

Educational

Allen did I really nice job getting us highlights and some history about Prague and the Czech Republic, his passion for learning, and teaching was obvious, and his perspective on having lived here for over 20 years through some major events was interesting. Little tidbits like John’s five star halo were recurrent and stuck with me. Had to postpone boat part of tour until next day since it would have made everything 4+ hours and I had another appointment to keep, but that was okay, one of those headphone audio guides available in a dozen languages. Near view though I’m from a canal boat and not a huge panorama boat, preferred that as did the tour guide. Definitely recommend!

great experience, expert guide

Great way to get a good overview of the city. The boat tour portion was nice and informative. Our guide Dana was super informative, she has lived in Prague her whole life and is a passionate advocate for her city and country. She also spoke great English and was very accommodating and answered our questions with confidence. She also was able to point out interesting quirks and identify interesting photo opportunities that only an experienced guide can do.

City tour including Prague Castle and boat ride!!!

Great tour for the price! Our guide Dana was a lifelong Prague resident and was very knowledgeable about everything on our tour! Boat ride was a unique experience and provided a great opportunity to take pictures from the river level!

Prague Castle and River Boat tour.

My tour guide Radek was very good. It was a cold and wet day, but he gave it 100%, and i learnt lots of interesting things about Prague...and we had some fun too!

Great half day tour

Excellent tour with Dana as guide. She was a wealth of information and very friendly. Great tour to get a feeling of Prague including Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, 45min River cruise, John Lennon wall, new town and finishing at prague Castle and cathedral. Just the right length at 3hrs. Dana was very helpful in escorting us back to the metro to get back to central prague. Highly recommended tour
