Cesky Krumlov One Day Trip from Prague by bus

Disappointing

The trip left very late. The driver had poor hygiene and was an aggressive driver. He passed several vehicles in a construction area going to Cesky Krumlov. The tour guide did not introduce himself and spoke English very poorly. We could not understand what he was saying. The castle tour guide was good, and the town was beautiful.

Guide and town were amazing breathing views many things to do and see..

Trip, guide and driver were great..just disappointed at not getting in Castle it was listed as entry to Castle ticket included...and even a allotted time of one hr in the castle...felt cheated ..The trip itself was awsome ...Just very let down..will think twice when booking with viator...

Excellent day trip to Cesky Krumlov

I was surprised to read the poor reviews for this trip. We had an excellent experience. I think the Czech temperament, which is rather stern, is misinterpreted as rude or uncaring. Our guide was very good. He was knowledgeable, relevant, and very well-organized. The trip, which includes a 2.5 hour drive, was well balanced in terms of commentary and quiet. Once we see on the tour of the town he seemed to understand what we wanted in terms of escorted time vs. free time. The local guide who did the tour of the castle was also very knowledgeable and charming. Finally, when we saw that we had a time problem for catching our train, our driver dropped us off at the station first. Altogether a good day.

Great Town!

Loved the town of Cesky Krumlov! It was so cute and offered a lot to see. It is a long drive, but we got 3 hours free time in the village. Only negatives were the numerous languages being spoken by the tour guide, and the speaking came across quite disinterested and unenthusiastic.

Great one day guided trip to Cesky Krumlov

We had a lovely one day trip to Cesky Krumlov! The whole trip takes around 10 hours, 2.30 hours by car. We were a small group of 4, my daughter and I and another nice Mexican couple. That's why the tour was both in English and Spanish. It was rather private. Our guide, Sarah was very friendly, informative and helpful and she made the journey very enjoyable, giving us many details about the history of Cesky Krumlov. The drive was very picturesque as there were snowed meadows and small villages. When we arrived we were so much impressed of the beauty of Cesky Krumlov under the snow. The castle is closed during winter period but we walked around and Sarah told us a lot about the history, the inhabitants and the mysteries of the place. Then we walked around the village, which is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in Europe, Sarah showed us around and in every spot. The whole guided tour takes about 1 hour and then we had lunch in a very traditional but not typically touristic, cosy and warm medieval tavern. It was a 3 course delicious czech meal with a soup, choice of main course either pork schnitzel or roasted trout. Big portions with potatoes. We had a dessert with czech crepes, strawberries and cream. Drinks are extra. Lunch is included in the tour prise only when the castle is closed. Eitherwise, entrance to the castle is included and not lunch. After lunch we had more than 2 free hours to visit sites recommended by our guide, walk around, take photos or do some shopping. Unfortunately due to covid, not all the shops were open. We bought decorated ginger cookies but more or less you can find the same things as in Prague, with exception that there are some more artistic shops with paintings and antiques. We were allowed to come back to the tavern and rest there or go to the toilet whenever we felt like it and there was our meeting point when we had to go back. Cesky Kurlov is a wonderful place worth seeing. Sarah was fantastic and very educated. Petr, our driver, though challenged by the snow and frozen road, drove us back safely and in time. Martin tour is highly recommended!

Awful experience, waste of a day!

Awful day trip to Cesky Krumlov. The booking was made with Martin Tours. From the minute we got on, we received a cold reception from the driver and the tour guide was not exactly welcoming either. He didn’t even introduce himself. Anyway, the drive was 3hrs long which I understand is not anyone’s fault. However, if only the tour guide was a bit more interesting, perhaps we wouldn’t feel the pinch of the long distance. Most importantly, I felt they should’ve cancelled the tour as the weather was awful. It was misty and grey and nothing could be seen from what the guide was pointing out. Every time he told us to look on the left to notice Baroque style villages, we saw nothing but mist and clouds. Look to the right to see a castle, nothing but more clouds. He wound up telling us to look to the left and we will see a billboard mentioning the smoked beer that the town is known for 😏. So we did see the billboard sign - how awesome!!! NOT! He mumbled on and had a pathetic way of delivering information, putting us to sleep. The only good thing about this trip, lunch was included and it was nice. We were left to our own devices in the museum, no guide nothing, so we just ambled through the entire castle on our own, not having any explanation of anything. Very sad!! We basically paid for the long drive to and fro and the lunch. The town itself is perhaps better during the summer. However I must add the people - not very polite! Doesn’t cost a thing to smile! I wish they’d realize. We, the tourists are the ones spending money here, the least they could do was smile! Nada! Nothing! Very very disappointed with Martin tours as well. I wouldn’t recommend going to this town especially in winter and definitely not on a guided tour. I think we would’ve managed better on our own.

Day Tour to Cesky Krumlov

Absolutely terrible. Guide was incredibly rude. Spoke at a hundred miles an hour. Tour left 15 minutes late. Tour driver called George. He was disinterested in his clients. Absolutely rude and arrogant- he made disparaging comments about Chinese people even though we had Asian couple on our tour, who I spoke to and they were quite offended. Also don’t have lunch where this tour guide suggests - he obviously gets it free as a kickback - checked the restaurant and it was over priced - better options a few doors down AVOID THIS COMPANY. By the way I purchased this tour through company Viator so had no idea the company I was going with was this one.

Cesky Krumlov destination great, tour operator not so great!

Cesky Krumlov is a lovely town to visit however it situated about 3 hours drive from Prague so be prepared. Our tour was full - no spare seats in our minibus.Firstly the ticket kiosk not a pleasant experience- need to work on their people skills!! The guide - he didn't introduce himself probably do not want us to remember his name, he was a poor communicator and gave bare minimal commentary. Seemed more interested in how many he could book at his restaurant for lunch (lunch not included in tour) obviously some form of commission for him. The walking tour was just a quick walk with a couple of comments, very basis. So what you get is transportation, the castle tour (local castle guide) and free time in Cesky Krumlov. We did not see much of our Martins guide.The castle tour was very good and lovely local guide. We enjoyed visiting Cesky Krumlov, it is very picturesque.

Not very enjoyable

I would give this 3 out of 5 as the local guide that we got is not very accommodating and just talk and talk . And I got the impression that he thinks asians don't really speak English so it feels a bit racist to me. Its just too bad we don't have many option from prague to go to cesky if we don't follow a local tour. The local guide in castle that comes together with the castle ticket is more interactive n interesting compared to the tour guide.

Avoid this tour!!!!

My husband and I were on the 25 April Cesky Krumlov tour. I am writing to tell you about my awful experience that day. First, our tour left late as all passengers were not on time. It turned out the group that was not on time was a family of 5 with a very small child. This child proceeded to cry on the bus the entire way to Cesky Krumlov - 3 hours! Thus, it was miserable and we could barely hear our tour guide, Vera, on top of it. Once we arrived at Cesky Krumlov, the tour of the city was lengthened as we had to continually wait on said family due to their stroller on the cobblestone streets. Vera should have spoken to them and moved on with the rest of us at a normal pace. Thus, due to their initial lateness and stroller issues, we had about an hour to explore Cesky Krumlov before our castle tour, which basically only gave us time to eat lunch. We were not able to explore the town properly. During the Castle Tour, the child again continued to scream and act up, again keeping us from hearing the tour guide. The overall experience was frustrating and awful. We wasted a full day of our vacation. What made it worse, was that the family did not apologize to the other passengers or seem to care they were bothering anyone. There should be an age limit on this tour, or if there is one, it should be strictly enforced. No one should have to endure what we did. I would not recommend your tour company to anyone.

Cesky Krumlov Town and Castle tour

A long drive but well worth it to see some of the county side on the way. we found the town and Castle beautiful and the Castle tour interesting.

A must if you are visiting Prague

The drive was beautiful and scenic. 2.5 hours may seem like a lot to some but it was far from boring, thanks to the scenic beauty and the jovial guide who gave us snippets of information about places we crossed through the trip. The timing of the guided walk in the town and the castle tour was perfect, just enough to absorb it all and not feel rushed. Thoroughly recommended trip.

The visit was worth it!!

We booked the tour online thru Viator, and it was worth it. There are two pick up points 1) Republic square, 2) Old Town Square. It’s a mini bus that seats around 30 people. We got on the minibus at Republic Square at 9am, then went to Old town square to pick up more passengers at 9:15. Suggest you get on at Republic square to get better seats. The drive takes around 3hrs since we stop off at a gas station for a toilet break. Our main guide George had a lot of interesting trivia about Prague. The town and the castle were magnificent, very medieval! George took us around for about an hour then we had 2.5 hours to explore the town and get something to eat / drink. Then by 330pm we met up with a local guide to tour the castle interiors. Very authentic and gives you a good sense of nobility life in the 16-17th century. Too bad that we couldn’t take pictures inside. But it was a great experience. We then all met back up with George and walked back to the mini bus (short 10-15 min walk). Then headed back to Prague by 5pm. Was a quick 2hr 20min trip back since we didn’t stop anymore. Would recommend this!

Charming town and beautiful castle

Town and castle were like stepping back in time. Very traditional feel and had time to wonder around town before touring inside of castle.

Add this to your schedule. Informative narrative long the way in the bus. Very approachable tour guide. Well paced day. Highly recommend it.

Day Trip To Cesky Krumlov

Cesky Krumlov is beautiful and the tour of the castle was excellent making it a worthwhile day out. However, I found the multi-lingual nature of the tour confusing at times and that the guide's English wasn't clear enough to make it easy in the multi-lingual nature. I felt the guide was disconnected at times only telling us her name when we left the bus in Prague at the end of the tour and we were left waiting for her to catch up walking to and from the castle but otherwise it was a great day out and the confusing language thing was worth the lower price.

<p>The town of Cesky Krumlov was magnificent. The tour I cannot say so. It was a 2 hour journey and the first stop in the non air-conditioned coach was a small petrol station with very small restroom, with the ladies only toilet broken. We arrived at location with a hard to understand tour guide, that didn't seem to really want to be in this job. The tour bus was so hot, that it was a major problem to get the tour guide to even ask the driver to try to do something about it and then after 15 minutes said it was broken. Passengers asked a few questions about Cesky Krumlov etc on the return trip and were bluntly told that she had already told us about that. The tour company had 2 pick up points . We were picked up second pick up point and bus was full. On return everyone was dropped off at their pick up point. Myself and my wife were waiting for bus to take off, when the tour guide came on and asked us Why are you still on board We stated we are drop off point number 2. Sorry we are not going there, you get off here The she walked off. We tried to converse with bus drive, who did not speak English, he was very helpful and gave us the directions to walk back to our pick up point. Overall they need to lift their game. Air conditioned bus would help, English speaking passionate tour guide and pick up drop off where they state.</p>

Day Trip to Cesky Krumlov

Our tour was very enjoyable. We traveled in a comfortable Mercedes van with a total of 8 people, so it was not crowded. Sarah was our guide and she was great...very knowledgable. First we had a walking tour of the town and heard about its history. Then we had some free time to explore and shop. Be sure to climb up to the church...it is beautiful. Then later, we had a tour of the castle. The ballroom was fabulous. The countryside we traveled through was very beautiful.

Like fairytale

We did a day tour from Prague to Cesky Krumlov & loved it!! The meeting point for the bus was easy to find & the local guide (a man called Jan) very knowledgeable. The drive there via villages was very picturesque & included an early coffee/toilet stop. Once we arrived Jan started our tour at the top of the very grand castle gardens with spectacular views of the village below & we then made our way down through the castle courtyards. The old village itself is absolutely gorgeous with the river running around coloured buildings & winding cobblestone streets. It felt very romantic & we wished we had stayed a night here! We had lunch & a stroll around before meeting for our guided tour inside the castle. The local guide's English pronunciation was at times hard to understand but added to the overall experience. The rooms inside the castle were stunning with so much history. Our family of 4 loved this day trip & look forward to coming back to Cesky Krumlov one day (maybe without the kids!)

It's a very nice day to explore the town, enjoy a nice Czech lunch, shop a little, climb the tower and extensively tour the castle. Our tour guide was great and we had a simply wonderful day. Highly recommended.</p>

<p>I would not recommend this trip unless the castle is open. We attended in March and did not think it worth the long drive just to view the outside of the castle gardens were closed also and the small town.</p>

<p>This was a horrible tour that I would suggest you stay away from. Our pick up was a ways from our hotel but we got there with plenty of time. Turns out that the next pick up place was a block from our hotel. Viator knew where we were staying but inconvenienced us anyway. All the way to the castle the tour guide had to translate everything she said into another language for one person, most annoying. We found out later there was a second bus that same day, same time, that contained people who spoke that language. Might have been better if that person went on the other bus. So things happen, and if this was all we could have overlooked it. But this tour took all day and there was a lot of waiting around instead of touring. The absolute worst part of this tour was that after waiting for the second bus for a while we went on a group tour of the castle that had at least 75 people! You could not see anything, or hear anything, because of the huge number of people. It was a waste of money. We will have to try and go back someday to try and see what was inside the castle. We have taken many tours with Viator and been happy so we were very disappointed about their mismanagement of this tour. A total waste of one of our days in Prague. Shame on Viator! So disappointed to have missed Cesky Krumlov Castle. DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR!!!!</p>

And, the best part is there were not so many tourist that you felt crowded or packed in like at so many others places. It was a LONG bicycle ride so it's not for those that aren't used to long distances.</p>

<p>It turned out to be about an 11 hour round trip from Warsaw, but well worth it. Our tour guide, Sarah, was friendly and very knowledgeable in this areas history. We were @ 16 passengers in a newer Mercedes mini-bus, so the long ride was comfortable. There aren't words to describe the beauty of this area, it's was like a fairy tale castle come alive. The only bad thing was that it was packed with tourists! This is one of those areas that if you have the time, spending a night there would be ideal. It must be divine once a lot of the tourists leave.</p>

A very charming little town, perhaps...

<p>A very charming little town, perhaps best visited during non winter months as quite a lot of sights were closed during my visit in February. While he was a very sweet older gentleman, there was a bit of a language barrier with the guide who was unable to effectively communicate the history of the town and its highlights in lieu of a limited English vocabulary - he tended to describe everything as 'interesting'. That said the two way transport - a Mercedes van - was probably worth the cost of the tour alone.</p>

Contratamos el tour en español él cuál no resultó económico (70 euros por persona). El guía que nos acompañó apenas hablaba español, debo reconocer que hacía el esfuerzo, pero no alcanzó. Una vez allí, la excursión del castillo que es muy interesante fue realizada en inglés, daban un “cuadernillo” en español, por lo cual se perdía parte de la información. Nada de esto fue informado al contratar el tour por lo cual nos hemos sentidos estafados.
