3-hour Small-Group History Tour of Prague's Renaissance and Baroque Gardens

Great for first time visitors or seasoned locals

This was a lovely, intimate tour through some of Prague's rich history. The small group size allowed our guide to customize the tour to our interests. Surprises abound! Although we've been to Prague many times, this tour introduced us to marvelous places that were just off the beaten path. We found ourselves viewing old Prague from a new perspective.

Fantastic introduction to Prague's past through the hidden gems of its walled gardens

I can't think of a better way to spend a few hours in Prague immersed in its history, culture, and foliage! This tour has something for everyone: garden lovers, history lovers, and travelers seeking a sense of the city's nobility. Our guide took us places that no "commoner" would ever have been allowed to see, and the tour offered unparalleled views of the Prague Castle and the city. Even during peak tourist season, the gardens were peaceful and quiet, offering a lovely break from the crowds. Highly recommended!

Old places, new sparkle in your eyes

Being a Praguener and having lived in the old part of the city for decades, I was offered a new, refreshing and wonderfully knowledgeable perspective on my own birthplace. Bonita is a wonderful guide, passionate about what she does, able to take you to the world that you hadn´t fully understood before, make you appreciate it and look at your own surroundings with a fresh look.

Fascinating tour in Prague´s most beautiful historical gardens

This tour of Prague´s Renaissance and Baroque Gardens was a wondeful moment. Bonita´s deep knowledge of Greek and Roman mythology sheded light on every single piece of sculpture present in these gardens revealing how Ancient Greek and Romans myths and gods were meticuliously chosen to serve modern political propaganda. The sights on the city from the gardens are furthermore absolutely breathtaking! I definitely highly recommend this tour!

A tour for curious, engaged, inquisitive people!

This was an amazing way to dip below the surface of Prague's best-known tourist features, and explore lesser-known sites-- and history. Bonita's knowledge (and Vadim's) was formidable and fascinating, and even for someone who has good familiarity with the history of the Czech capital, this was eye-opening. And most enjoyable. If you're looking for a superficial tour, this is not for you. This is a tour for curious, engaged, inquisitive people!

A wonderful -- and fascinating -- way to spend a late autumn afternoon

Prague's famous for its gardens, and while it's nice just to wander aimlessly through them, this tour gives you a fascinating insight into the people behind them and what many aspects of them symbolise. These gardens were, in a sense, like 17th century Instagram posts for the elites, who were trying to tell a story about themselves and how they saw themselves. We took this tour on a beautiful, crystal clear autumn day, with the foliage all reds, yellows and purples, and at 3 hours was the most delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I definitely recommend.

Knowledgeable guides, beautiful walk!

This is such a lovely experience! -- We walked through four beautiful gardens, learned about the history of the city, and got some amazing photos of us against Prague's skyline. This is the third tour I've taken with Vadim and Bonita and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Gorgeous gardens and fantastic stories

This is a fantastic tour! The gardens themselves are stunning, as are the surrounding architecture and cobblestone streets. What really sets this experience apart is the insight offered by guides/hosts Bonita and Vadim. They're both gifted storytellers, and the details they shared about the gardens, their founders, and the associated palaces put it all in context. It's obvious they know these special locations very well and I loved how they pointed out details I might have missed on my own. There were plenty of aha moments and laughs along the way. Bonita also knows the best places to take photos with breathtaking backgrounds. 100% recommended.

Learned a lot!

Book this tour if you want to see some breathtakingly beautiful gardens of Prague that many visitors miss or simply pass through without fully taking in. Bonita and Vadim are knowledgeable hosts who present the parks not just as examples of gorgeous landscaping but as important markers of the city's history with their own fascinating stories to tell.

Passionate and deeply knowledgeable guide

This is the third tour I have done with Vadim and Bonita's company 'Insight Cities' and I can't recommend them highly enough. Bonita has incredible in-depth knowledge of Prague and its history and also such a passion and love of transmitting all that knowledge to us, her lucky audience! We did this tour with two pre-teen girls and I was expecting them to wander away in boredom but in fact it was quite the opposite. Bonita was just amazing the way she engaged the girls and got them interested in history. They particularly loved the Waldstein gardens with the Grotto wall and the peacocks.

Amazing Prague gardens

This was an amazing tour in which we saw the most beautiful gardens of Prague and learned about their history and architecture. My favorite was Vrtba garden with beautiful view on the Prague castle. Our tour guide Bonita has very deep knowledge of Czech history and culture and she is able to share it with passion!

A visually pleasing and highly informative tour

This was an excellent tour, extremely enjoyable and informative. Not only did we get to see absolutely breathtaking gardens in this beautiful city (some of which are hidden gems), but we also learned a great deal about the historical and architectural context in which they were created. Bonita was very knowledgeable about the time period, but her delivery was never dry--quite the opposite, she was very lively and engaging, while offering us a rich picture of various competing historical, religious, and aesthetic ideas associated with these gorgeous gardens. I highly recommend this tour.

Genuine learning that will last a lifetime!

This tour was just incredible - hands down, incredible. We went with my father, who is usually a bit lazy with walking and doesn't speak good English... and even HE was engaged and fascinated enough to follow earnestly. Where to begin - the monuments themselves are stunning. The tour combines the natural beauty of gardens with the human-made beauty of palaces, chateaus and famously glorious Prague architecture. Yet the most amazing thing about this tour was by far the tour guide - Bonita is an actual historian with vast knowledge in the field, actually specializing in the topic at hand. Not only that, but she is an extremely animated and lively person, able to hone in on the most important and entertaining details of history and to deliver the overall picture in a concise and supremely engaging manner. The result is that the information she delivers has a way of "sticking" in the mind, helping the audience actually absorb and remember it! Genuinely thrilled with this tour. 5 out of 5 stars for me. With Bonita's unique delivery, I actually remember the information to this day. Thank you so much!

This tour took me to whole sections of Prague Castle and its surroundings that I would never have discovered otherwise.

Beautiful Prague Tour

I've spent a lot of time in Prague over the years, but this gardens tour revealed a whole new side of the city to me. I had no idea about the amazing Baroque and Renaissance gardens hidden behind various buildings and entryways around the older parts of town. This is truly a tour of hidden treasures! It is also a tour that opens up a certain period of Prague's history that tends to get lost between the medieval period and the later 19th and 20th-century histories. Bonita is a fantastic guide, extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and personable. The tour is a delightful couple of hours!

Great Garden tour

Oh my, I thought the gardens would be only flowers. But no, It is flowers plus statues, history, birds, fish, paintings. Insight cities gave a great tour again. Our guide Bonita must read an awful lots because she is just loaded with information about every aspect of the Royal Gardens. It was really a delightful tour.
