Sunset Sailing Cruise from Port Douglas

Disappointing

Was not impressed with not having a seat. You have to be one of the first 20 on board to get one, and I'm 70 and had to sit on the floor. Also you would think paper plates could be supplied. There were nice canapes but how do you carry carrots dipped in hummus, or arrancini balls covered in dip on a napkin, up steps and along walkways also carrying a bag and drink. Then sitting on the deck to eat whilst boat is rocking. Most disappointed.

Worth it!

Beautiful sunset. Friendly staff. Lovely and clean boat. Beautiful start to the evening! 1.5hrs definitely felt like enough time too.

Worth the trip up to Port Douglas

We were lucky to have perfect sailing weather but the staff made the trip super comfortable . The drinks and canapés we not bottom shelf either which is our usual experience. Thankyou everyone

Sailaway Sunset Cruise

Wow what a lovely photo opportunity if the weather behaves. Beautiful little cruise around the bay in Port. Service was great, nice vibes and recommended to do this. 👌

Magnificent sunset

Sailing on your beautiful catamaran out to see the sunset over the mountains was magnificent. We did have a very bumpy ride. Some sat on the front and enjoyed getting wet. The welcome on board drinks and canapes were delicious. But the sunset was spectacular. The ever changing colours mesmerisied all on board. Great outing

Actually sail!

Sunset wasn't there as it was a little overcast and windy but the team got the sails out and had an amazing sail! drinks were cold, canapè were great and the crew aboard were awesome. Definitely reccomend.

Sunset Cruise Port Douglas

Took a sunset cruise in May 2024 for the evening, took around 1.5 hours. Weather was overcast and a little windy, but it was spectacular anyway. The skipper and crew were lovely, very accommodating and friendly, extremely knowledgeable. First drink on the house, and plenty of munchies during the trip. Would definitely recommend as a night out on the water. Thank you for your hospitality!!

Coral Sea very lovely

Quite a good evening overall. It was very quiet (no commentary) which I liked. Bit rough out there but the sailor was so competent and at ease with it all. There isn't a lot of food, just to keep in mind. But I do recommend this tour.

Nice Relaxing Afternoon although weather affected.

Greeted onboard by the staff with a champagne which went down well. The canapes followed as we set out from the marina. These were also very nice & although not enough for dinner was enough to fill you up for a few hours. Views back to PD & the mainland were nice, however, no decent sunset as the weather turned & we had rain on the way back. Have done this cruise before & would do it again, hopefully with better weather next time.

Great staff, trip was too bumpy

Great hospitality, the staff were lovely, the boat was very comfy/nice and clean. Only thing I would suggest is have a back up plans if it’s too choppy to go on open water. We sat and didn’t move and couldn’t get a good photo until the very end of the trip back in the marina. Didn’t feel comfortable to get up and use the toilet or go into the bar to get a drink (luckily the staff offered table service and came to us, but still would have been nice to move around this lovely boat) it’s a shame we were waiting for it to be over as we were feeling unwell. Unfortunately the staff can’t control the weather but perhaps an alternative trip could be offered on the day.. a half price half the travel time trip around the marina in calm waters would have been much nicer.

Great time

Even though there was no sunset the night we went out, the crew and just the relaxing cruise on the yacht was amazing

Beautiful sunset cruise, great team and lovely canapés and drinks on a lovely boat with friends and family.

Relaxing

It was relaxing to sail out and back but it wasn’t very comfortable. There wasn’t enough room for everyone to sit in a seat on deck.

Beautiful evening

Great evening out with the crew! We didn’t get to see a sunset which could not be helped. But was a great experience for us Great local knowledge of the area. And the only girl skipper in Port Douglas to take us out

Staff were amazing

Amazing experience of sailing and watching the sun go down would recommend copper and jake are so welcoming and friendly, I suffer from seasickness and was completely fine on the ship nothing at all just be prepared if you sit at the front of the ship on the trampoline you may get alittle splashes from the ocean

An evening on a yacht

The trip was very well organised, fun and relaxing. The boat was amazing and the staff were good fun and very accomodating. It was nice to get a welcome drink and food on board as well .. we really enjoyed it!

The best way to spend an afternoon, sunset sailing

Brilliant way to spend an afternoon, on a fancy boat in the tropics. Staff are all so relaxed and friendly, this is the best sunset sail I’ve experienced and one not to be missed while in beautiful FNQ. Thanks so much to the Sailaway team for a perfect afternoon. Shout out to our all girl team of Sara and Mel (captain and crew) for doing a wonderful job.

The Perfect Sunset Cruise

Sunset Cruise

Nice cruise but weather was poor so we did not sea any sunset. Buffet was basic but we did not expect more. Good value for money if the sun shines.

Great wsy to spend last evening!

This was a fantastic way to spend our final evening in Port Douglas. Beautiful cruise in fantastic conditions. We all enjoyed it. Very professionally run.

I'll always remember this

Absolutely worth doing, this was an exceptional sunset cruise in perfect weather with fun people and crew. Plenty of food to go around and the peaceful feeling of being on the water under sail was something I'll always remember.

Amazing family sunset sail

We went out on a sunset sail with Sailaway on our first night in Port Douglas. The crew - Jake, Kelly and Louise were amazing - welcoming everyone on board and giving us an amazing first introduction to the Great Barrier Reef . We were treated to chilled drinks and delicious canapés as we sailed out of Port Douglas . This short trip is a must for anyone visiting Port Douglas !

Sailing off brought such a magical experience

We arrived to a choice of drinks and canapés which was pleasant. The all girl crew were really warm and friendly.after safety talk we set sail. The early evening was humid and very hot. The breeze was really welcome as we set off. Sadly it was cloudy and not a chance of a beautiful glow of sunset. We met some super people on the boat and this helped make the experience wonderful. Putting the sails up was an experience to watch and the calm quiet when actually sailing was magical.great cross section of ages made it.

It's was a great experience and awesome viewing. The food was great amd the staff lets us feel very welcome. Definitely recommended.

A waste of our time and Money

During our Honeymoon my wife and I booked the Half Day Sunset Cruise at a cost of $600 based on the information provided on the Sailaway website being " Explore the island during the quiet time of day with a guided snorkel tour by a marine biologist, over the beautiful coral gardens and swim with turtles in their natural habitat. Continue to enjoy your afternoon on the glass bottom boat with an interesting reef talk by our skipper and join our experienced guide to explore the history and nature of Low Isles with an Island Heritage Walk. We serve a delicious light lunch, afternoon tea and a selection of canapés. Beverages are also included to top off the day and provide 1st class service - Our focus is on 1st class service, small numbers of guests " (copied from website) The actual cruise was 21 people with not enough seating for all on board and once underway we were informed that you could Snorkel or take the glass bottom boat NOT BOTH! To get anything to eat or drink you had to squeeze your way into the cabin, and at no time did the staff offer food or drinks, it was fend for yourself from start to finish. The glass bottom boat was filthy with water sloshing around the inside of the glass panel with your seat being the steel rail on the side of the tiny aluminum boat. A terrible waste of our time and money!

The Best Port Douglas Cruise Ever

It was the Most memorable experience we ever had. The crew were very friendly. The food was the best . Ample food for everyone..Loved it, Watching the Sunset from the Catermeran was Epic too, Do not miss this cruise , if ever you visit Port Douglas. It is the BEST experience ever.

Absolutely Awesome

Fabulous experience from Reception staff to Cruise staff. So welcoming, friendly from start to end and great sailing with a female captain. Kudos to all and special mention for looking after a hesitant sailor. Couldn’t recommend higher

This was amazing from start to finish! Small group, fabulous crew, light fare food was 5 stars and plenty to go around! I can’t say enough good things about Sailaway! Just do it!

Great value & fun sunset sail!

Great value sunset sail, fabulous crew, nice canapés, beverages & no children! Unfortunately we picked the only evening that was cloudy, however it was a lovely sail & very enjoyable with a group of friends. Tip, wear thongs as it’s a shoes off experience & all footwear is placed in a tub at the wharf.

An enjoyable expereience.

Arrived at the wharf at 4.30pm & on the catamaran at 5pm & sailed for one & a half hours. The complimentary beverage & canapes were great as was the sailing experience. We had a perfect evening weather wise & the sunset was just spectacular. The crew were efficient,friendly & professional, a great experience.

100% Recommend!

This was amazing! A must do whilst you’re in Port Douglas. The service was impeccable, we had Blake and Jake as our captains who were so friendly and accomodating. The views were absolutely spectacular! The drinks onboard were reasonably priced and the food was delicious.

Nice way to Experience the Coastal Sunset

Even with a very limited wind this was a nice way to watch the sunset on the coast. Included a drink and lots of snacks as well. We experienced a quiet calm and relaxing evening. The crew was very helpful and accommodating with drinks and snacks.

The cruise was beautiful. So relaxing. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The sunset was amazing. You won’t regret booking this tour.

One for your bucket list

One of my best experiences in Port Douglas with a pleasant and relaxing way to end the day (or so I thought) ... but continued partying on shore with newly found friends. Great views, great boat, great crew ... very much recommended!

Disappointed

The crew were friendly and helpful, the skipper was quite rude and did not engage at all with his passengers, spent most of the time whilst on the cruise on his mobile phone.

Ok but not great!

Sunset cruise was good but had the potential to be great. There was no real vibe or atmosphere, they could’ve played music, captain didn’t interact with the guests at all! canapes were nice enough. Unfortunately don’t think ill go again for that price.

Too rough

Once we got out of the harbour I was sick for the cruise. Sailing is not for me ! If you suffer sea sickness, I would not recommend. Do the riverboat cruise. On the positive, the boat was beautiful and clean and the staff were lovely.

Exceptional service

This is the second time we been out on a cruise with this company and I have to say the service is excellent, the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the area and sea life. They seem to make a big effort to make the time fabulous.

Our trip wasn’t the best...

Our trip wasn’t the best as we had 30 knot winds. It was not a pleasant experience with most people on board suffering sea sickness. I do feel that due to the weather conditions the cruise should of been cancelled. It’s not enjoyable just going out to sea for 30 minutes the turning back .Didn’t get to experience any sunset only sea sickness.
