Sensational experience

Sensational day out, the crew were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling at 3 different locations! Highly recommend you do this adventure. Great lunch included with both morning and afternoon tea.

I don’t recommend beginners scuba dive

I did 2 x beginners scuba dive. I have dived on the reef once before. The first dive our group had some teething problems- no fault of the instructor. The entire time the instructor was holding on to us. The second dive went much smoother but the instructor still held on to my arm the entire time. It drove me nuts. When I got out and asked her why she held on to my arm the entire time she said I had buoyancy issues and apparently I kicked the coral ( which surprised me) . You know what it’s very difficult to balance in the water when someone has your arm. When your off balance you do have buoyancy issues! Why not have the conversation before the 2nd dive about what needs to be improved to be able to swim independently. Not enough instruction given on how to improve between dives. An extremely frustrating experience. Apart from that the snorkeling was fantastic except the third site which was very average. Staff were nice and the catering was good. The diving experience unfortunately a letdown compared to my previous dive where I didn’t have someone hanging on to my arm!

Great crew, great experience! The crew were very helpful and polite to all. The boat was comfortable cleans and the food that was promised was delivered!

Silversonic Day Trip

Was an amazing day, 3 great sites for snorkelling or scuba. The weather was great just a little rough coming back. Otherwise highly recommended. 5 ⭐️ for sure.

Great reef experience

Excellent boat tour with opportunity to dive even if you are not certified. Stops at the GBR had lots of interesting wildlife including a white tip shark.

Diving the reef

Was an awesome day on the reef diving. We had 2 great guides Gordon and Simon. Great lunch and the rest of the staff were great too. This was our second time last was 10 years ago highly recommend

Really enjoyed our day

Really enjoyed our day even though it was a bit rough. The fish life was amazing, the giant clams are incredible. The crew were great and relaxed, I had been worried it might be a bit molly coddly but we just went off and did our own thing which was cool. We saw lots of dead coral which was sad but also interesting as we hear so much about it in the news and it's good to see these things first hand.

The best day!

We had an amazing day seeing the Great Barrier Reef for the first time. We travelled as a two, with one doing an intro dive and the other doing the certified dive. Teddy was an incredible instructor for my intro dive, I had so much fun and felt so safe and happy the whole time. Simon led the certified dive and was also amazing. We had the best day and would 100% recommend - we can’t wait to go diving again! Thank you.

Despite the average...

Despite the average weather on the day, it was an awesome trip! Had some great spots we stopped at and the underwater life was incredible. Extremely friendly crew.

Always snorkel with quicksilver

Every time I visit the area, I make sure to book a snorkel trip with quicksilver. Always friendly, educational, saety conscious and informative about the reef and its' precious environment. Thanks for educating us all in such a welcoming way. I know there are plenty of tour operators in Port, but I walk past them to get to the good stuff.

Fantastic day of snorkelling

We went to 3 great reef sites and had plenty of time for snorkelling at each. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We have an amazing day thanks.

Amazing day at the Great Barrier Reef!

Very professional crew, safety first, and helpful. Amazing reef experience! We didn’t have great weather, but still were able to enjoy seeing (snorkeling) the areas of the Great Barrier Reef unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.

Amazing experience!

I had an amazing day out with the Silversonic team and enjoyed 3 dives on 3 different locations. I was very impressed by the smooth organization. And liked it so much that I went again the next day!

Amazing trip, so glad to have done it with silversonic

The reef was much more vibrant and intact than we could have ever imagined. Safety was unparalleled for both snorkellers and scuba . The boat was well equipped and staff were attentive at all times, informative and again put safety first. Wish we could have known more about the restoration efforts that quicksilver have been doing. One photo for free or a bit cheaper would have been great!

Great Dive Trip!

This was an amazing dive. We had just dived the day before with a different group out of Cairns. The team was very friendly and organized and even with a full boat full of divers we did not feel rushed. The best part of this trip was diving with our guide Gordon. He was an amazing dive guide and really made this the perfect dive trip. Thank you Gordon.

Great boat trip and dives

We really enjoyed this boat trip, water was a little choppy. Diving was great, enjoyed the reef sites we were taken too. Food on board was plentiful and tasted good. Would recommend - but take sea sickness tablets beforehand if the waves are choppy

Great fun

Great way of seeing the reef while having fun ! My husband and son were hesitating to snorkel and the guides took them on a 1:1 snorkel session . Highly recommended. They’re all so patient and kind

Great day out. Staff were friendly, food was yummy and the reef is spectacular! Highly recommend. Seas were a little choppy but staff had travel calm available as needed.

The whole experience was amazing, the reef was beyond expectations . The staff were all friendly and welcoming and professional.

Unforgettable day

This trip was absolutely fabulous from beginning to end. The crew was completely professional; they got us oriented and equipped in groups so everything flowed very well, as there is a lot of equipment to get organized for each person. We were in completely competent hands and I knew they were pros…as well as being fun! The 3 stops were simply amazing, each better than the last. The lunch and snacks were excellent. Met great people too. All in all, a terrific day I’ll never forget!

Awesome experience with great crew

My wife and I had a day out snorkeling and it was amazing! They accommodated us with every need, she was 25 weeks pregnant and nothing was too hard for the crew. I did an introductory scuba dive at one of the sites, the crew were great in preparing and very professional guiding me through. Morning tea / buffet lunch / afternoon tea all provided. Highly recommend!

The best experience & so knowledgeable!

Incredible experience!!! Th crew were truly amazing, very knowledgeable & if I recall they are the only remaining family owned businesses doing tours to the reef. So if you’re heading there please support this wonderful tour company cause they made this experience, one our family will cherish always. A+++😀

Held hostage for 4.5 hours

Unfortunately this is not a good experience for certified divers. Both our dives were completed by noon and there was nothing for us to do at the second shallow reef. We waited for the beginner divers to complete their shallow dive and the snorkeling groups to get back on board then we went back to the first dive site to pick someone else up We were held hostage on the boat for 4.5 hours until we returned to Cairns. It would be much better organized if we had lunch at the second site and then went back to complete our second dive at the first site since we had to go back there anyway. Our surface interval would not seem so rushed that way too

Amazing Crew

Snorkelling the GBR. Tour was organized and most importantly FUN! Took our adult daughter and we all had a blast. Food was yummy. Crew was knowledgeable safety oriented - awesome teamwork in action to make our day very special.

Awesome experience! The crew was very friendly and caring. I had a blast snorkeling and always felt comfortable/safe, even though I’m not always the strongest swimmer. Would recommend!! We saw a sea turtle and a shark on our trip!!

I signed up for 2 dives but was unable to scuba due to medication for heart palpitations. Snorkeling was great but a little disappointed that I couldn’t dive

Great day! Really enjoyed our experience to Great Barrier Reef. Saw a few sharks, turtles and bunch of fish. Enjoyed the stroller tours and biology chats.

Did the silver sonic solo and had a wonderful time! The people were friendly and it was a really well organized trip. Going out into the outer reef made for an extra unique experience.

Great crew, comfortable boat, wonderful day

We were very impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. They were so considerate of everyone’s level of ability to snorkel and on more than one occasion I saw a crew member get into the water to help someone get acclimated one on one. The crew serving food were so sweet and were paying close attention to keeping everything neat and clean. The three sites were all great and I though the 90 minute ride there and back would be tedious but it went fast because everyone was happy and friendly and the inside of the boat was very comfortable if you wanted a break from sun and wind. I read some of the negative reviews and everyone is entitled to their opinion and of course crew can have off days, but we have done snorkling excursions all over the world and we were very pleased with this one. Well done crew!

I warmly recommend!

I was scuba diving with Silversonic! The overall experience was five Star: smooth pick up from Port Douglas hotel, the morning and afternoon Coffee, good lunch but most importantly, the dives were excellent. My favourite spot was Turtle Bay which was really pristine, colourful, lots of Healthy corals of different types, very fishy. Jack is an excellent, young instructor, helpful and professional. I am so happy I chose to go and chose this company. Also the snorkelers seemed pleased and happy. The weather on the Outer reef was a bit Rainy but despite it the visibility was good- maybe 15m. Not good for first time experience

This trip is for people that have already dived or have experienced diving, if you have never been diving before don’t go with this company I repeat don’t book with this company or any silver series excursion you will be horrible disappointed, instructors don’t have time for beginners and you will be left behind.

Bucket list item for sure!

We loved this trip! The boat was comfortable and the crew was amazing - very professional and service oriented. I hadn't been diving for several years, and Shay and Jeff were great in reviewing for me and preparing all people for the dives. They kept a close eye on all of the divers. Jade was awesome with the snorkelers, sharing her knowledge as a marine biologist about the reefs and marine life. Really, everyone was great - this is a well run business. But the real star is the reef - it is amazing! They have great dive sites and and it is a bucket list experience for sure!

Unpleasant time

Was informed by Silversonic the day before my snorkle trip that due to operational issues it was canceled. This on top of the fact that I was on my way to Sydney Airport to travel to Cairns for this and the stay at Port Douglas had to be çancelled due to the town shutting off its water supply also last minute was ridiculously stressful. I had limited time before my next part of my vacation and I will never stay at port Douglas or book any tour from there. Stay in Cairns and take excursions.

Well organised, good food, attentive and knowledgeable crew. We did a private dive day 1 with Adam who was a perfect instructor for our first ocean scuba dive. We joined Emma's larger group of 8 on day 2, she was fun, caring and worked hard to point out all the things to see on the reefs. This company is a long standing well oiled machine who have managed to maintain a personal touch to their tours. A great two days. Thanks to all the team!

Amazing GBR experience!!

Great experience and nice dive/snorkel sites. Crew was on top of everything and safety seemed paramount!! I snorkeled and husband went diving so nice to be able to do both. Only 40 or so people with lots of crew. Lunch was great!!

I loved seeing the...

I loved seeing the variety of corals teeming with a large variety of small fish. I have scuba dived in the Carribean, Aqaba Red Sea, Hawaiian isles but the Great Barrier Reef was the best coral and fish variety I’ve ever seen. The boat crew was great and made the trip a great experience. The dive guides also made sure everyone felt comfortable.

Great crew and great diving experience. Fastest power cat I’ve been on. Food was good and the dive masters knew their stuff.

Great tour and crew

Tour was organized and well-run. We went on the Posiedon high speed catamaran, which was well appointed with an air conditioned cabin and a good amount of outdoor seating, although some was in the sun and it was harder for folks to find shade later in the day. Excellent crew for both diving and snorkeling. We visited 3 separate sites on the Great Barrier Reef and stayed at each for about 1-1/2 hrs or so. I really liked that the snorkel crew lead Cassie gave us a briefing at each site to tell us what we would see in each direction, where the boundaries to snorkel were and most importantly, at least for me, the way the current was running so I would know what to expect when I got in the water. It made the day really enjoyable for me, as did the time spent chatting with some lovely people from Tasmania and southern England. My husband loved the 2 dives he did and thought Jack and Jai did an amazing job as dive leads. We had great weather and it only started to rain as we headed back. A really enjoyable day overall.

A must do experience!

From start to finish this tour was well organized and executed very professionally. As first time snorklers we were provided with everything we needed to ensure we had a safe and memorable experience on board and in the ocean. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Australia!

Fantastic trip, even for a weak swimmer

Fantastic trip. 3 dive sites, lots of enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff (especially Finn) together with almost constant snacks and a delicious lunch made the trip a brilliant day. I’m not a strong swimmer so was unsure as to how I’d cope, but they provided swim vests for everyone which massively helped bouyancy and made swimming / snorkelling really simple. Definitely recommend this trip to anyone.

Great Barrier reef

Amazing trip very well organised. Staff amazing, very friendly, and helpful. Would highly recommend going. We went to 3 different reefs and saw lots of different fish and coral.

Great Trip

We were snorkelers on the trip and the three sites we went to were well suited to snorkeling. Each site was quite different with good fish and coral diversity. The crew were excellent, very professional and friendly, from the skipper to the people serving the food. They gave good safety briefings and were strict on how they did the head counts before we left the sites. The equipment was good and the crew were very helpful in getting everyone well fitted. We were very lucky as the skipper took time out on the trip back for us to watch an Omura whale.
